This song was performed in Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). its always that look at the end. Just when Floor hits the second to last high note which is where most singers would have to end the song... and then takes it to the Floor Level...that look on their faces which make Nightwish reactions gold. He even even had "that look" again when he replayed the end.

She got me with that note about 3 years ago. I’ve been a fan ever since. The lead singers name is Floor Jansen pronounced Yansen. She’s from the Netherlands. The band was formed in 1996 by the keyboardist, writer, and composer Tuomas in Finland. Floor is their 3rd lead singer and my favorite. She has her own UA-cam channel as well with some of her solo work and some covers she does. I’m a huge fan of her work and of Nightwish.

And this was Floor Jansen's first time singing with the band, in a big venue. The band had split with their previous singer, This was basically her first major test. I think she nailed it. She is also now married to the current drummer of a band named Sabaton (another one you need to react to). Both fan bases of these bands are loyal and amazing. And they love reactions to their music. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. What you just saw is just a fraction of what this band and singer can do. As you will come to find out, every song is different. Different styles, feels, and singers. They've had a number of lineup changes over the last 26 years. Floor Jansen( Yan-sen) had only been singing with the band about 10 months at this show in Wacken (Vah-ken) Germany. All the songs here were written for one of the first 2 singers, Floor added to the originals and made them her own. 15 songs in this set (this song was #13) and they brought that energy for every one. Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves. Floor joined her first band (After Forever) at the very young age of 16. She also attended the Rock Academie in the Netherlands and studied opera and musical theater after that. Floor has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several Master vocal coaches (She is also a certified Master vocal coach). Floor can sing in multiple languages, styles and genres. She also speaks 5 languages. Floor often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. This Valkyrie goddess is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to Nightwish. The Band hired her in 2012 as a temporary replacement for their previous vocalist Anette Olson (2nd vocalist hired after the original Tarja) to finish out the North American tour. In 2013 Nightwish officially announced that Floor and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Troy Donockley are now permanent members of the band. Welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole. I love your reaction. I felt the same way couple of yours ago, Floor has a great voice. The composer (Tuomas, the keyboardist) plays a lot with recurrent themes, dynamics, rhythm changes (did you recognize the rhythms?) and writes beautiful lyrics, which results in great songs. Keep on enjoying.

( I saw the Rolling Stones outdoors in a University Football stadium with 62,000 in attendance.. and I thought that was a crazy amount of people! Like you, I had never heard of this band either. How a band THIS good could be out there and I had never heard of them boggles the mind. Their music is just so unique, it's classified as Symphonic Metal, IMO it's not......the addition of Floor and that voice takes it to another level.....and that level is one they occupy by themselves. Wacken Open Air is the biggest Heavy Metal Festival, so it is said, on Earth. In a very small town of about 2000 inhabitants. But once a year people from all over the world come here for the festival. Normal looking people and leather clad people that look frightening, but are friendly and helpful. Stay safe and healthy. If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested. When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013. This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. I'm 51 years old so a lot of my friends are cowboys fans even though I'm in New Jersey and one of my really good friends actually moved from New Jersey to Dallas and he works at the stadium I guess it's AT&t..... And my neighbor is cousins of Jim jeffcoat who is from this area........ Small world and it keeps getting smaller I saw nightwish in New York City and I met reactors from all over the place it was really cool....... Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

She got me with that note about 3 years ago. I’ve been a fan ever since. The lead singers name is Floor Jansen pronounced Yansen. She’s from the Netherlands. The band was formed in 1996 by the keyboardist, writer, and composer Tuomas in Finland. Floor is their 3rd lead singer and my favorite.
She has her own UA-cam channel as well with some of her solo work and some covers she does. I’m a huge fan of her work and of Nightwish.

And this was Floor Jansen's first time singing with the band, in a big venue. The band had split with their previous singer, This was basically her first major test. I think she nailed it. What you just saw is just a fraction of what this band and singer can do. As you will come to find out, every song is different. Different styles, feels, and singers. They've had a number of lineup changes over the last 26 years. Floor Jansen( Yan-sen) had only been singing with the band about 10 months at this show in Wacken (Vah-ken) Germany. All the songs here were written for one of the first 2 singers, Floor added to the originals and made them her own. 15 songs in this set (this song was #13) and they brought that energy for every one.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves. Floor joined her first band (After Forever) at the very young age of 16. She also attended the Rock Academie in the Netherlands and studied opera and musical theater after that. Floor has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several Master vocal coaches (She is also a certified Master vocal coach). Floor can sing in multiple languages, styles and genres. She also speaks 5 languages. Floor often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. This Valkyrie goddess is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to Nightwish. The Band hired her in 2012 as a temporary replacement for their previous vocalist Anette Olson (2nd vocalist hired after the original Tarja) to finish out the North American tour. In 2013 Nightwish officially announced that Floor and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Troy Donockley are now permanent members of the band. Welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole. I love your reaction. I felt the same way couple of yours ago, Floor has a great voice. The composer (Tuomas, the keyboardist) plays a lot with recurrent themes, dynamics, rhythm changes (did you recognize the rhythms?) and writes beautiful lyrics, which results in great songs. Keep on enjoying.
That music fest is held in Wacken Germany, and there were 82,000 people there!!! ( I saw the Rolling Stones outdoors in a University Football stadium with 62,000 in attendance.. and I thought that was a crazy amount of people!

Like you, I had never heard of this band either. How a band THIS good could be out there and I had never heard of them boggles the mind. Their music is just so unique, it's classified as Symphonic Metal, IMO it's not......the addition of Floor and that voice takes it to another level.....and that level is one they occupy by themselves. Enjoy your Nightwish journey......every song is an adventure.

Wacken Open Air is the biggest Heavy Metal Festival, so it is said, on Earth. In a very small town of about 2000 inhabitants. But once a year people from all over the world come here for the festival. Normal looking people and leather clad people that look frightening, but are friendly and helpful. Stay safe and healthy. If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested.
When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013.
This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. I'm 51 years old so a lot of my friends are cowboys fans even though I'm in New Jersey and one of my really good friends actually moved from New Jersey to Dallas and he works at the stadium I guess it's AT&t..... And my neighbor is cousins of Jim jeffcoat who is from this area........ Small world and it keeps getting smaller I saw nightwish in New York City and I met reactors from all over the place it was really cool....... I don't really have a favorite NFL team I grew up a chargers fan so I kind of root for them but I will admit I'm definitely going to root for Pickett to see what happens I mean he went to my high school so and it's a good story and I know his quarterback coach really well so we'll see what happens I'm going to keep my fingers crossed
