I now have newfound awareness from this guy that I have been ingesting inflammatory and unwanted ingredients for years while thinking that I was reaching for a healthy snack option for while working or doing errands. Feels kinda like a grand act of deception on behalf of these bar makers. His shorts makes me think that anyone who cares about their health needs to be armed with information about interpreting ingredient labels.
It depends. Some natural flavors are indeed natural - using actual plants or animals as the flavor source. But unfortunately those flavors can be mixed with other synthetic additives and can still call themselves “natural” because they flavor source is plant/animal based. Some companies are transparent in telling where there natural flavors come from but most aren’t. Which is why he recommends avoiding them.
The fear of "synthetic flavors" stems from a lack of understanding about chemicals and Chemistry. Just because a chemical is man made doesn't mean it's toxic and just because something originates in nature doesn't mean it's safe. For instance there are natural essential oils that are hormone disruptors
Yeah when you actually call the company like I have they won’t disclose the natural flavors that’s just what they say… But natural flavors could mean anything at all I know a lot of people down here Miami that make their own protein powder and there’s honestly a lot of ingredients that I don’t even include in the label so you can’t really trust label it’s best just to make your own protein bar
A few things... Red palm oil is actually less refiled palm oil so it *might contain more nutrients - but the source of oils does not matter when its within such unhealthy process food... GMO is better for the environment - "non-GMO" uses more water to grow less, and vastly more pesticides. 10g of protein is a waste of time - You could get the same amount eating a basic cheese stick - which is arguably healthier to any of these he suggested. Essentially just get something with low sugar (or keto) and you'll be perfectly fine, and probably better off.
Pretty bad motto to go by. That’s such black and white form of thinking that completely ignores everything besides the face value aspect of two different macronutrients.
You are a saint. Someone once told me, find your niche and fill it. These shorts alone are helping so many, I hope and pray you and your influence will educate and awaken people and the industries to change for the better.
The only good oils are from oily fruits…olive, avocado, and coconut. Anything else is a cruddy oil bc it has to be so highly processed to extract oil from a seed. When you squeeze a seed, do you get oil? No!
The best tasting protein bars for 200 calories and 20 grams of protein are Barbell protein bars. The best tasting period are Met-rx but they’re more like a candy bar with high protein.
Please don’t feel guilty about eating ANY of the bars that Bobby says are “bad.” As a registered dietitian we teach that granola bars are an excellent way to feel full and satisfied between meals (especially in combination with a fruit or vegetable!) especially if you are in a pinch for time. They can be helpful tools to prevent you from over eating or reaching for calorie dense foods at meals, especially when you have long intervals between your meals. If you are starving and all you have is a granola bar that is not “Bobby approved” please eat the granola bar…your body will thank you! Additional granola bars I frequently recommend include: Lara bars, Skout bars, Talty Bars, Madegood bars, Epic bars, KIND bars and Perfect bars (for more of a “meal”)
If I ate a granola bar I'd be sick as a dog. People need to follow the dietary advice of their physician because one size fits all doesn't work for nutrition. Taking advice from internet randoms (including FlavCity) is a not so tasty recipe for disaster.
Then what you teach is b.s if someone can’t wait the intervals between their meals without eating then their blood sugar is wack and by adding that bar between the meals while blood sugar is trying to stabilize its gonna go up and crash again

Those are my favorite!

Nah if it is a protein bar that has 20g protein, under 250-200 calories, and got low fat and low carb it is a good protein bar. Couldn’t care less about natural flavors until I make 6 figures

@@tamifromvirginia4046
Problem is he doesn't have any credentials in nutrition so you should take everything he says with a grain of salt. He does offer some good advice but some of the stuff he says is very misleading and yes it could be dangerous for some people.
Example: He claims coconut sugar is a healthy alternatives to cane sugar just because it is "natural" when in reality the body doesn't differentiate between different types of sugar. Sugar is sugar and insulin response will be the same.
@@crystalclear7512 I think you are here to cause problems truthfully, why don't you start your own channel if you look at those details. He’s actually not but he just doesn’t fit your meathead standards carry on
I now have newfound awareness from this guy that I have been ingesting inflammatory and unwanted ingredients for years while thinking that I was reaching for a healthy snack option for while working or doing errands. Feels kinda like a grand act of deception on behalf of these bar makers. His shorts makes me think that anyone who cares about their health needs to be armed with information about interpreting ingredient labels.
Think bars: 20g of protein, 0g of sugar, 220 cals. Best bang for your buck
The other ingredients unfortunately matter too
@SamC_182 not really if the rest of your diet isn't poo.
I recently noticed a lot of snacks have "natural flavors" on the label. I really wonder what those are exactly
Marketing scam for fake chemicals avoid them
The fear of "synthetic flavors" stems from a lack of understanding about chemicals and Chemistry.
Palm oil kills orangutans and is destroying their habitat.
natural flavors have been proven to not be bad because companies would be sued easily if it was found to be anything else
These bs claims he makes without citations is infuriating, people like him need to seriously reevaluate their life
I’ll listen to what an educated & registered dietician has to say about my food, not some “nutritionist” with no qualifications at all lmao
Actually the 3 bars he recommends are RD approved so 👍

A whopping 10 g of protein for only 10 bucks, what a steal
An actual good/ real protein bar has more protein than carbs. That simple.

What exactly are “cruddy oils”? Your cooking videos are great, but “cruddy oils, inflammatory oils”, maybe state your sources…
There’s no solid nutritional science supporting this inflammation bullshit
Literally just anti-scientific bs. He tries to say sunflower oil is “inflammatory” yet somehow palm oil is ok?
The only good oils are from oily fruits…olive, avocado, and coconut. Anything else is a cruddy oil bc it has to be so highly processed to extract oil from a seed. When you squeeze a seed, do you get oil? No!
“Organic” can sometimes be used the same way as “natural flavors” btw
lets talk about how this man was holding on to the bullet proof without dropping a single bar
What about kind bars?
I eat kind bars too but they’re not Bobby approved
Just eat a steak or some chicken. Protein and no crap. Through some salt on for flavor and to help hydrate and avoid that isle all together.
Some people, believe it or not are active and may need nutrition on the go. Not very practical to eat a steak in the middle of a hike for example.
Quest Bars, Pure Protein & Kirkland Protein are the only ones that are not overpriced and useless.

This guys a FEAR MONGER salesmen. The ENTIRE point of a protein bar is quick convenient snack to hit your protein diet. It should make up less than 10% of your otherwise healthy diet. There is no need to pay extra and worry ab all the tiny little additives because it is only one bar, not your entire days diet. Just get whatever tastes good and is cheap and has at least 20G protein and not crazy high on the sugar. If the rest of your diet is fine you don’t need to worry ab optimizing a meager 200 calories of your entire diet. Half of these “healthy bars” have like 8G of protein hahahah
The point of this page is to point out the products that dont have unnecessary additives
