- VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this adorable woodland animal portrait image of "BAMBOO PANDA BEAR" with acrylic paint. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to develop a realistic shape and form on this fluffy large cuddly bear who is trying have a peaceful lunch snacking on delicious bamboo leaves with his huge paws. As he is relaxing in a comfortable sitting position behind the tall edible plants, he takes in the view of what mother nature has to offer in the surrounding landscape. This painting is filled with the mass of this giant bear with his striking black and white coat and rotund body. With the dramatic texture of the fur and the out of focus landscape sky glow behind him, the image takes on a country sheik look. You’ll learn how to build the fur using layering and stippling techniques creating dimension throughout the body. The painting will come to life with the shimmering twinkle in the eyes and the 3d illusion from the form and shape of the body. Bringing this cute adorable bear to life will feel magical, but you’ll also learn some valuable lessons along the way to create realistic looking elements that will appear to pop out of the canvas with a real photo quality. Brushes: 1/2 inch flat bristle (large), #6 round synthetic brush (medium), # 1 round synthetic (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, burnt umber (brown), green oxide, deep yellow, ultramarine blue
Other: #2 pencil, 9 inch paper plate, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. #2 pencil - Draw outline of panda bear
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint background with white, green, yellow, brown and black
3. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 1st layer of head with brown, black and white
4. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint base coat of ear, eyes and body with black
5. #1 round brush - Paint eyes, nose and mouth with black, white, brown and yellow
6. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint shadows on face with gray (made in step 3), black, brown and white
7. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint arms with black, brown, blue and white
8. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Finish head with gray, yellow, brown and white
9. #8 round brush - Paint bamboo stems with brown, yellow and white
10. #8 round brush - Paint bamboo leaves with black, brown, green, yellow and white
11. #1 round brush - Sign with black

What other brush would you suggest instead the large brush to do the fur on the face? The large bristle brush hates me lol. It’s a really beautiful painting tho, looks so real! You are so talented! ❤️
Hi Ashlee, You could really use several different types of brushes... an angled or small round (but you'll have to make each piece of fur individually), or you could try a rake or fan brush (they will give you multiple individual strands). How do you save your acrylics for later?
