Just so you know, the alcohol difference between Kansas and Missouri is no longer a thing. This was filmed pre-new beer regulations. Otherwise, go enjoy some great BBQ for me and have a great time visiting! Kansas City really is a great city.
Yeah it never was a thing becasuse there are liqour stores in kansas too that sell normal beer. the old blue laws held grocery stores and gas stations back from full ABV %.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, and have traveled to several places...and "There is no place like home".We are a very proud city, and we should be. We have elite athletic teams, amazing culture, food, and experiences. Just so you know we also have a HUGE Irish ancestory with one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day parades in the nation. This city goes green just as it goes red or blue. And you are right...we have a love our city and have a love for the beloved Patrick Mahomes and his fiancee. Come back soon. Many things to see and experience .
As a former Miss Juneteenth of Kansas City, I must add that the city is rich in culture and history! Especially Jazz! My hometown❤️ Born & raised in the heart of the KC! I still visit KC at least twice a year to see my parents and Chiefs games!
It's interesting you mentioned Juneteenth. When I was a kid and even a young adult from the 70'-90's, many people, including many black Americans. I knew about it because my dad grew up in a mostly Mexican/Black neighborhood near downtown KC in the 40's-60's and he used to talk about it. I literally brought it up to some of my black buddies when I was in the navy in the early 90's and they thought I was giving them a hard time and had made it up. Now everyone acts like "oh, yeah..Juneteenth...I know all about that..." but most people had no idea what it was until recent history.
I lived in KC for 8 years after graduating from college. I have since lived all over the US and in Europe. To this day, I tell everyone that KC is a well-kept secret. I would live there again in a heartbeat....9 months a year.
I lived there for 12 years. Miss it a lot. The Royals were an excellent team then. The Chiefs, not so much. They have certainly become great. I was at the game when they had Chefs painted in the end zone turf.
Geo.....yes this city has had its issues with racism. But we are striving to be better. And with ALL urban cities, you do have your naste parts of towns. But they are slowly improving....just like airport and water systems.....tax payers approved of bond issues to make them better. Oh yea, we are redoing MCI.....going to a single terminal set up with better parking (ok, parking is a local thing)
I've lived here my whole life, we do love our city and sports teams! Gotta love red friday and the plaza lighting ceremony every Thanksgiving night to officially kick off the Christmas season!
@@CybeargPlays it's something I heard years ago, might not be true anymore. But we're up there lol. I think there's a bunch of new projects coming too, it's growing a lot around here
Great video! You've captured the surprise of KC pretty well. I've lived all over this country...Seattle, Charlotte, Dallas, Philly, Atlanta, KC...and have traveled the world and experienced so many great cultures. It was a shock to us when we moved here 10 years ago for a new job that it completely sucked us in. We love it! It has replaced North Carolina as "home" for our family and it is unlikely we'll ever leave. We live on the Kansas side, but honestly...if you live here you rarely notice that there are state lines. It is one big metropolitan area that we all feel pride in. I often call it Dallas junior when people ask. Many of the same amenities and things-to-do without the BIG of Dallas - less traffic, less severe summer temps, nicer people, more laid back. When the new airport is done in a couple of years getting in and out of here will be much easier as well. Enjoy your travels...and thanks for recognizing our hidden gem. (Now, let's keep it a secret!) ;)
Thank you for the amazing review. I've lived my whole life here in KCMO. The only thing you forgot to mention..we are the city of fountains. We have over 200 throughout the city. Some are north of the Missouri River. Please check them out. I've seen them all when I was younger and plan to see them again. They are so amazing and if i remember right, some tell of our history.
The RiverMarket is something you don’t want to miss. There are so many pop-ups and cultural spots as well as some amazing food and produce! It’s a great way to spend a day and support local businesses and have a lot of fun.
After living between & frequenting Columbus, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh my entire life, when I moved to KC, I was blown away at how awesome of a city it is! This town definitely has some charm and I have indeed fallen in love with it!
Thank you so much, Mark, for your very kind words about my hometown, Kansas City! I'm so glad you enjoy your time here. You are right - once you experience KC for yourself, it is a city that is really hard not to love. Thanks again! Love your videos!!
Kansas City will always be home no matter where I move to. I did a video on union station a month or two ago, and plan to do a few more around town in the near future, but I think you’ve pretty much got a good grasp of why people love this city so much from its culture to its history and even its food. Thank you for this video 💚
Thank you for the compliments I’ve lived here my whole life wouldn’t live anywhere else so again thank you very much we love our city and we love our Chiefs
I've lived in Missouri for most of my life, in the suburbs of Kansas City, MO. and in a small town just outside of Kansas City, MO. I am 75 years old and was here when Union Station was in it's heyday! The people that went through that Massive Beautiful Building was Amazing! Those Huge Trains Pulling Up Underneath the building to load and unload passengers was thrilling. My Father was Switchman and Engine Foreman for The Union Pacific Railroad and we, he and his family got a pass to ride on the trains for free. So we did a lot of traveling! Anyway You are so right, there is great food, great museums, The Truman Library in Independence, MO, just a short drive. I don't know about the night life anymore but the city used to be filled with Great Clubs, with some Great Jazz Bands. Classic Restaurants and High End Hotels. Even a Classic Hamburger Joint on the Plaza, Winsteads, probably the best Hamburger and Chocolate Malt Anywhere and I Believe it is Still There. The Architecture is Beautiful, the City has Restored so much of the City, trying to bring back its former Glory. While you are here take in a Chiefs or Royals Game. The town goes crazy wild over their Teams! There is so much more I could tell you about but I've rattled on long enough! Lol. I'll end by saying give the City a try, you will be amazed in this Fly Over State! Just one more thing, check out the Christmas Lights on the Plaza! People come from all over to see them turn them on, on Thanksgiving Night! Be Safe and God Bless! You brought back a lot of memories! PS, Best Bar BQ Ever!
Wow, cool. I used to imagine it being alive. I lived there when it was totally not in use, just some sectioned off restaurant tucked in there tight. I would sneek off and explore, and walked all around when it was all empty and not in use. It really made me wonder why that space was so incredibly under-utilised. I have not been there since it came alive again. But i will get there
Don't forget about the Steamboat Arabia museum in the River Market. This steamboat sunk in the 1800s and a family dug it up from the middle of a corn field. The museum is shows off all the merchandise the boat was bringing up the Missouri River.
We had all 4 seasons in one day last year. Woke up to spring like temps. Noon it was summer temps. Early evening it was chilly like fall and by 8pm it was snowing. Crazy but thats KC for you lol.
I think another thing that might shock people about Kansas City who have never been here before is all the fountains we have. You showed several of them, but that's not nearly all we have. And it's kind of fun to go around and see how many you can find.
I've traveled to 26 countries and lived in five and Kansas City Missouri is one of the great cities of the world in which to live right now. I believe it was travel and leisure magazine that named Kansas City, Missouri number one in the world above Vienna Austria as a place for a travel and work vacation. Huge amounts of culture and attractions plus good weather plus low cost of living plus friendly people and world-class food. What's not to like? Love to Kansas City Missouri and the rest of the world.
I totally agree with you. I am from Berlin, Germany. But Kansas City, MO is my happy place. I wish I could live there. But unfortunately my boyfriend doesn't want to move to the US. I absolutely love KC
Thanks for all the nice things you said about my hometown! Next time you're in the area, check out the City Market on Saturday mornings. Come back soon, we're always happy to have guests! You're right, Arthur Bryant's burnt ends are to DIE for!!!
Kansas City is a wonderful, wonderful place! I lived there for nine years and it was just absolutely fantastic! You just scratched the surface with the music scene. There’s the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts where the KC Symphony performs as well as so many quality theatre venues in town (in KS and MO) doing everything from straight plays to musical theatre to opera. Not to mention the jazz scene here. It’s an amazing city if you’re into the arts. :)
Come to Kansas city to experience all 4 seasons in one day. "Wouldn't be so hot if it weren't for the humidity" "Wouldn't be that cold if it weren't for the wind" "Tornado warning? Lets go outside and try to see it." .... "Ope"
I moved from the KC area to NJ in 87 I was 14. I go back and visit sometimes (my brother lives there). What I've noticed about KC as opposed to other metropolitan areas in the US is KC has a little bit of everything. Most people I meet on the East Coast are surprised when they go there how much there is to do. Love that city and I'm still a CHIEFS fan one of the only true ones in this Philadelphia metropolitan area I live in.
Don't forget Topsy's Popcorn, Lamar's Donuts, lots and lots of places to party. If you like casual dining or restaurants and clubs with a dress code we got you covered. There is also a lot of theaters and concert venues. Lots of conventions come to kansas city. Our snow is crazy though.
Kansas City born and raised! Loved the video but for anyone that’s watching who have never been here, the thing about friendly people is absolutely true and I would even go as far to say it’s understated in this video. I meet a lot of people who move here for work and they all ask me “why is everybody so nice here?” Almost as if they are suspicious lol. We are definitely a different kind of city.
LOL, I moved from NE Ohio, and that was literally one of the first things I noticed. People are just warmer and friendlier than most metro areas, to the point where it's almost absurd.
Thank you so much!! Did you know that the Country Club Plaza was built by J.C. Nichols (the person)? He paid for the whole thing, including the streets and all of the lighting. Originally there were no stop signs. It was a time when there were fewer autos and everyone was expected to be courteous. Over time they have added a few stop lights and some stop signs. Still very easy to manage and there is a lot of parking. It is an absolutely fabulous place to visit if you come to KCMO! And there are several really great hotels here in KCMO. I hope you all visit one day :) Oh and the stadium the Chiefs and the Royals play in is also here in KCMO. LOVE our Chiefs and Royals!
It makes me so happy just to hear that intro. With all the craziness and uncertainty going on right now, your videos are a wonderful, fresh, cool touchstone of normalcy.
I'm from Kansas City and I couldn't be be happier that you enjoyed your time here. Just want to give a quick shout out KC Bier company for anyone traveling to the area it's amazing. I hope more people check out your video and decide come see our beautiful city. Thank you.
Thank you for doing this. Kansas City is a great city and we love it here. Born and raised and would not change a thing (well, maybe a few things)... I think this city is a hidden gem in the middle of the US and we want to shine as a gem always. I am glad you enjoyed my hometown.
I think what surprises most people about our friendliness is that it's *genuine*. Most of us really are nice people with interest in the welfare of others. When I lived in Florida and traveled along the east coast of the US, it weirded people out that my friendliness wasn't fake. We Kansas Citians are just ... authentic.
Come in the fall, football, baseball, nascar, Ren-Fest, haunted houses, best BBQ and steaks, good Italian food, music, tons of local activities once the plandemic is over.
We've been living in KC for 6 years and I've never felt as enthusiastic about it as you are in this video. You made me really want to get it and explore more. Thank you!
Ooh don’t forget starlight theater.. and for you shoppers like me lolo love to shop oak Park Mall is awesome..it’s In Ks!! We have lots of outlets and check out nebraska furniture mart!! Wear some comfy shoes it’s a work out! Enjoy!!
KC is all of this and growing. The street car has started expanding south of union station, new airport coming in March 2023, talks of the baseball stadium moving downtown, emergence of the crossroads district, and the first ever woman’s professional soccer stadium by the river front. The city is only going to get better as the years go on.
Great video. I started following you for when we travel international, so it's cool, to see you talk about KC. I'm from Kansas city and now live in the Washington DC area. KC is so underrated. Not just underrated, but just totally under the radar. Even though the Chiefs and Royals and MLS Sporting have won championships lately, people still don't realize what the actual city of KC is like. It's actually a large city of 2.4 million with a lot to do. KC has museums and performing arts venues and amusement parks, a great zoo, union station etc and yet people think KC is small or rural or something. People out here also don't know the city is primarily in Missouri, especially the urban and cultural parts, tourist attractions etc. The skyline is in Missouri, anytime you see KC's skyline (Downtown or its secondary skylines like the plaza), it's always Missouri. You can actually spend several days in KC and see most of what the city offers and never even set foot in Kansas. (even the airport and all the Amtrak stations are in Missouri). The KS side is nice, Overland Park is a nice large corporate suburb for example and KCK has the speedway and soccer team and the KS side is a big chunk of the metro population (almost half). But the KS side is mostly suburban and has very few attractions so it looks like the suburbs of any other large city with office parks and what not. Also, people don't realize how hilly and green KC is. People think KC is flat and it's just not and it's also very green and forested. It's a great city, probably one of the best mid sized metros in the country. Too bad most people would never even give it a chance because it gets a bad rap due to where it's located (FYI, metro KC votes blue despite being in MO and KS too). Thank god they are getting a new airport terminal. Using KCI airport was always the most depressing thing about going to KC. And speaking of KC's airport, while KC is far from the coasts, it's the best place to live if you travel a lot. Both coasts, Texas, Canada etc all no more than a 2-3 hour flight. It's so easy to travel the country when you live right in the middle of it and Missouri and Colorado offer quite a bit of outdoor recreation for short vacations. Oh and KCMO did get federal funding to extend the streetcar from downtown to the plaza area. Still a few years out from opening, but it's happening. One more thing, the real bbq in KC is in KCMO and it's in the African American parts of the city. KC bbq is culturally urban and African American or places like Gates, BBs, Arthur Bryant's, LC's etc. Joes is popular, but not really "KC" bbq. So for good real KC bbq, go to Gates or LC's or something. The Gates on The Paseo is really nice. For a nicer sit down experience, go to the original Jack Stack near union station or Q39 in midtown. Those places have good atmosphere and good bbq, but you have to also do some real KC urban bbq too.
I don't agree with the 'bad rap'..KC and the metro area votes like the USA votes... Jackson County, MO and Wyandotte County, KS do vote heavily 'blue'..(which seems to be why the KC area shouldn't have a 'bad rap') But before anyone thinks the metro is a 'Blue, blue heaven'..realize that the rest of the metro reliably votes that incarnate evil 'red', on both sides of the state line. I am being facetious..I don't know why a simple description of the pros and cons of Kansas City has to convince outsiders we vote one way or another. When you mention politics, either way, you drive off half of your target audience!
The best thing about the museums is that they are usually free, if not free they are very cheap. It shocked me when in went to an other city and their museums cost so much money.
I'm a Native to Kansas City Missouri..lived here most of my life..all but a few years..lived also in Colorado and Northern Cali. But I always find my way back home..They say you can't come home again..but that's a lie..lived here for about 50 years of my 54 years of life..There's No place like Home..( That's Missouri, Not Kansas)...Did a WONDERFUL JOB. On the video..but there's just one place you missed to eat Great BBQ and that's North of the Missouri River and its called..Smokehouse BBQ...Awesome Food there as well....Wanna say a Big Thank you from a Native CHEIFS/ ROYALS FAN..ALSO 54TH SUPERBOWL CHAMPS...GREAT VIDEO ON OUR CITY...
The Country Club Plaza (or, The Plaza) is considered to be the first shopping mall in the US. It was opened in 1922. Over the years, many different shops and restaurants operated there - mostly locally owned places, until the last 10 - 20 years when the local stores have been replaced (largely) by national or regional chains. The new airport, which opened in March 2023, is very nice and has lots of restaurants, some shops, and many pieces of art. While maybe not as convenient as the old airport, it is more modern, light and airy, and the few times I have used it were pleasant. (They do need to work on the pick-up process for arriving passengers, that can be a mess.)
My wife and I live in Joplin Mo, and we have an itch to live back in the city, I'm from Jacksonville Florida. We just began saving to move there next year and we are so stoked to become Kansas Citians!! 🙌
Great video :) I know you mentioned the viewership during quarantine has taken a hit, but these videos really help me travel vicariously through you guys while I'm stuck in Ontario haha.
Glad you mentioned that Union Station is still a working train station as well. We take trains regularly, we've gone to Chicago, Manhattan/NY, DC, Connecticut, etc. It's a really relaxing and comfortable way to travel and you get to see so much of the little towns you wouldn't if you flew or drive(if you're the driver like I always am :) ) . The historic Southwest Chief rail route goes from LA to Chicago and back, through Kansas City. My dad grew up no far from the station and he said when he was a kid in the 40's and 50's there used to be 150 passenger trains a day through there. Those pictures you showed of the old days when the whole main hall was filled with benches and people alluded to that. I grew up here in the 70's and 80's, but left for the Navy in '89 and lived away for almost 30 years, only recently moving back here. I've lived in and travelled all over the country and other countries as well and I love living here. Great video.
Thank you for the great video! I really appreciate the friendliness of the Americans. And it is so cool to know the best places in one's hometown and be proud of it. Would you recommend Kansas City as a first destination in USA for someone who has never been there before? Greetings from Luxembourg.
I would start on a coast and work your way down/up or over, depending on your time! I love Chicago as a starter destination if you want to start more in the middle! DC is also a nice place to start, especially if you want history lessons, etc
If you're looking to spend awhile in the US and really live like a local , Kansas City can give you a very classic "American" experience. But I'd say New York City is 100% the first place to go. Everyone needs to experience NYC - just know that it doesn't represent all of the US. 😉
Depends on what you want to do. The United States is huge and there's a ton of very different experiences you can have from culture, food, nature etc. I would just recommend doing some research and planning out a trip that fits you. When I travel to Europe I don't go in blind. I like to have an idea but also prefer not to have a strict itinerary and instead naturally take it in. If you want to see nature that's really unique to anywhere else on the planet southern Utah is beautiful. Road tripping there between national parks is something I highly recommend to anyone.
Just FYI - Kansas no longer restricts alcohol content in beer. Very happy you had a good time here. And thank you for highlighting some of the great things in our area.
As a Kansas citian, accurate video. It would be cheaper to rent a car and drive everywhere than ubering if you're here for more than a day or so. Bbq, beer, and sports (chiefs, royals, sporting kc, mavericks, nascar) are the soul of the city. Santacaligon festival in independence during labor day, independence Square has a lot of history. And I feel like our drivers are fairly polite for the most part.
Your comment on locals and the traffic was dead on. Been in KC for 30 years and I hate the traffic here... that is, until I come back from somewhere else. Then, I have no problem with it for a while!
We are driving up this weekend! We always enjoy KC! The best (voted best) antiques market is across the river, and has a big Lewis and Clark mural on the side! Behind that are also Asian supermarkets!!! Cool snacks inside. And junk. We also like to go to vintage stores! Some are upscale vintage boutiques! The Nelson Atkins is a MUST! The Plaza is great if you are rich-LOL! But we are not! We like to eat at the Jerusalem Cafe/hookah house and get kebobs! Or get a BBQ. Never had bad bbq in KC honestly. We enjoy the downtown old areas-artsy 18th street!
I've been to Kansas City about 6 times or so because my gf's dad was in a nursing home there. I have to say, I've done a decent amount of traveling and KC is honestly one of my favorite places. The Nelson Atkins museum is awesome. The BBQ is great. You can go to a football or baseball game or casino if that's your thing. It's laid back but still a ton to do and this is coming from someone from the east coast NYC/Philly. I also loved updown I think it's called (a bar/video game spot). Joe's BBQ is great and so much cheaper than BBQ on east coast (they're baked beans are amazing). There's a great French crepe place on the west I forget the name. Also people are friendly, my cell phone fell out of my back pocket from the upper deck to the lower level at a chiefs game and it was brought back to me within 5 min.
I lived in KC from 1972 until 1995. I worked at MCI. I have some good memories but boy has it changed. It looks beautiful. Maybe I will consider returning for a visit.
I remember when Union Station was alive. I started riding the CB&Q from our home in Brookfield to see and grandparents in K.C., I was 5 years old and rode alone in 1950. But the conductor was my uncle and a part of the riders were from home and I knew they all. Because my grandfather worked for the railroad he was waiting for me when I got off.
I live in Nashville, Tennessee right now and have been for 17 years since I was 2 in 2004. I'm 19 and a Sophomore in college right now. I go to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee but at some point in the beginning of May next year in 2022, I'm more than likely gonna to move to Kansas City, Missouri to live there with the other half of my family and my other parent, my dad. The surprising part is that I've never found out who my dad was until this year in 2021. He's been living there in Kansas City, Missouri the whole time and I didn't know I had a dad there until both him and my mom told me. It came to the point where my dad wants me to move there and live with him. At first I didn't agree with that idea... but then I figured that it's time for me to possibly move somewhere else soon since I've lived in Nashville, Tennessee for a while... I heard very good similar things about Kansas City, Missouri as well, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and their Arrowhead stadium and football games. I'm gonna try to scream and cheer for the Cheifs as loud as I can at Kansas City Cheifs home games at the Arrowhead stadium. My dad said I'll like it over there, so hopefully I will and won't regret moving there 😉👍💯 so when I move there I'll be transferring from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).
Great video. Our streetcar got money for an expansion so they will extend it by 1 1/2 miles. Come back in early 2023 when our airport will be done, March madness and the NFL draft
Union Station is huge because KC was and is the largest railroad hub. Historically, KC was the starting point of the western pioneer trails. MCI (KCI) was the headquarters of TWA. People still enjoy the airport because of its practical layout: you can simply exit the road to the airport and be dropped off at your gate. No need to walk through a shopping mall or other terminals to find your flight. The courtesy phones are to prevent crime from fraudulent taxis.
A couple of add ons to Nani's statements.... The taxis and drive share are parked away from the airport to also relieve congestion at the terminals. The new KCI opens Spring of 2023 and will have all the stuff a new airport should have. It won't be 100 ft from curb to gate anymore but still an easy pickup easy drop off. As for the airport being out in the boonies, would you rather drive 2 miles and it take 25 minutes, on a good day, before rush hour? I'll keep my leisurely drive to the airport. The Frontier really began in KC and "The St Louis Arch" should be in KC. The political power players in Missouri during the 1960's all lived in St Louis so you know how that works and how things get done. KC still gets a lot of freight train traffic but it's not the biggest. Those days left with the meat packing plants and when the WW2 soldiers came home. Passenger travel barely exists, because it just takes too long to get to the coast. Trucking and airplanes are how things move today.
Just so you know, the alcohol difference between Kansas and Missouri is no longer a thing. This was filmed pre-new beer regulations. Otherwise, go enjoy some great BBQ for me and have a great time visiting! Kansas City really is a great city.
Kansas 3.2 beer ended awhile ago, its all 5.0 now
U didn't mention science city inside of union Station, thats honestly one of the main reasons people go there
Yeah it never was a thing becasuse there are liqour stores in kansas too that sell normal beer. the old blue laws held grocery stores and gas stations back from full ABV %.
It is 5% now. Still not ideal in Kansas.
There are tons of great things to do in Kansas City, Missouri and in Kansas too. Shop local where possible!
I LOVE KCMO. Easily one of the most underrated US cities.
Well i hate it
I love Kansas city.
Its cool but id rather live somewhere else

Any recommendations on where to stay if I'm wanting to see a Royals game, Negro League Museum, The Truman Library, and , of course, good BBQ?
Home sweet home
It's interesting you mentioned Juneteenth. When I was a kid and even a young adult from the 70'-90's, many people, including many black Americans. I knew about it because my dad grew up in a mostly Mexican/Black neighborhood near downtown KC in the 40's-60's and he used to talk about it. I literally brought it up to some of my black buddies when I was in the navy in the early 90's and they thought I was giving them a hard time and had made it up. Now everyone acts like "oh, yeah..Juneteenth...I know all about that..." but most people had no idea what it was until recent history.
Planned to "step through" Kansas City right out of high school in 1981. Never left.
I lived in KC for 8 years after graduating from college. I have since lived all over the US and in Europe. To this day, I tell everyone that KC is a well-kept secret. I would live there again in a heartbeat....9 months a year.

@@andrewpearman1403 This didn't happen. That was a commercial.
I've lived here my whole life, we do love our city and sports teams! Gotta love red friday and the plaza lighting ceremony every Thanksgiving night to officially kick off the Christmas season!
Yesss the holidays are the best here
I used to work near the Plaza. Lots of traffic when the lights were up, but it was beautiful to see every night.
We have more park space than any other city in the US. Lots of green. I love it.
Its always nice to visit. It's another thing when you live here and deal with it on a daily basis.
@@TheKerryzzz I have no idea what you mean by your comment. Having parks, trails, and beautiful scenery is something you have to deal with?
This is an interesting factoid. Surely Minneapolis tops the nation, no? Maybe it depends on how parks are classified.

As a Kansas City resident who was born and raised here, I love this video!
Union Station also has movie theatre, planetarium, restaurant, cafe, and Connects via walkway to Crown Center and our lite rail is free to all.
Thanks for coming to my city! We actually are starting to expand the tram right now just FYI. I love KC.

Kansas City is often overshadowed by Saint Louis but it is so much better in my opinion
Moving here for work in january from new york now im even more excited. Thanks for the great video!
Hope you love it
You should rent an apartment on the Plaza....reminds us a bit of NYC !
So how did it turn out?
So how much money have you saved since you moved here? lol
You should have mentioned the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is a great place for modern art!
Anyway
You are so right, there is great food, great museums, The Truman Library in Independence, MO, just a short drive.
Great museum!
We also get all the best concerts coming through town.
❤❤❤❤
When Garth Brooks came out of retirement about 10 years ago he played Kansas City. George Strait also kicked off his retirement tour in KC.
What concerts are you referring to last year there was not a single one thanks covid I miss starlight
18th Vine is a great place to go as well. We are also known for our KC 2step. It's a beautiful style of dancing.
Come back anytime! Just remember that MO has strange weather lol... Sometimes we get 70s and snow in the same week. Sometimes during the same day 😊.
same day for sure :)
We had all 4 seasons in one day last year. Woke up to spring like temps. Noon it was summer temps. Early evening it was chilly like fall and by 8pm it was snowing. Crazy but thats KC for you lol.
Haha! Truth!
You made me cry. I miss my hometown. My job took me away from KC. I can't wait to retire.
You did an amazing job of covering my city! I had to subscribe right away! Thank you for the video!
I'm so happy you enjoyed our town! We really do love it here.
I am from Kansas City as well. I bet the transition to Germany from KC was pretty drastic.
I really wanted to live there after my visit. I loved everything about it. Besides that humidity.
Our weather is our worst feature.
It's a wet heat though. 😆😜
Come to Kansas city to experience all 4 seasons in one day.
"Wouldn't be so hot if it weren't for the humidity"
"Wouldn't be that cold if it weren't for the wind"
"Tornado warning? Lets go outside and try to see it."
.... "Ope"
And the tornados lol don't forget thoes
@@KrashPanda If you are in the western part of kansas.
I’ve traveled all over and when I landed in KCMO, I instantly felt at home. Great job Wolters!
Slaps, Q39, Jack Stack, Brobecks, Burnt End BBQ, Joe’s, Gates, Arthur Bryant’s, Plowboys. Probably in that order. Probably.
You forgot Lc’s and big t’s
Isn’t slaps the one that just opened on Shawnee mission parkway?
Try Korean BBQ (galbi) at Choga or Chosun.
Sorry... I like Smokehouse BBQ in Independence, Mo on 39th St
@@jm745 what about LC's?
Kansas City is mine and my husbands favorite place to travel. It's close enough that we can make a day trip and have lots of fun ❤
From Kansas City I'd like to say we loved having you
Don't forget Topsy's Popcorn, Lamar's Donuts, lots and lots of places to party.
Going to KC in May, super excited now. Thanks so much for the video
I’m on the KS side but glad you enjoyed our town
I have a desire to see KC one day and hope to get there soon! Don’t know why but hey it’s a place I have never been to! 😀
@@SirManfly You are my type of traveler: "I haven't been there, let's go check it out!" No other reason is needed! :D
I'm from Kansas City and I couldn't be be happier that you enjoyed your time here. Just want to give a quick shout out KC Bier company for anyone traveling to the area it's amazing. I hope more people check out your video and decide come see our beautiful city. Thank you.
Cheese Cake Factory tower was originally the Swanson's tower. It was a high end clothing store.
I live here and I didn't even know that! Cool
Is Harry Starkers still around?
@@andrewpearman1403 No sorry it's been gone for years.
Ah the Giralda replica, I’d never heard it referred to as Cheesecake Tower but that’s pretty funny.
Man, visiting Kansas City was not on my radar but after seeing this video, it now is!
i was surprised myself. I really liked it
Come and enjoy
As a KC native, this makes me so happy. 😁 We'd love to have you visit! It's an awesome city.
Please stop by! We love visitors and know how to take care of them!
That looks like such an awesome city. I never would have guessed. Thanks :)
Come visit us and enjoy the bbq and jazz
You'll love it here!
Come visit!! We'd love to have you! Like he said, literally anyone you run into will gladly be your tour guide. We love our city!
Thank you for doing this. Kansas City is a great city and we love it here. Born and raised and would not change a thing (well, maybe a few things)... I think this city is a hidden gem in the middle of the US and we want to shine as a gem always. I am glad you enjoyed my hometown.
Thanks! Can't wait to visit again!
@@woltersworld always welcome in KC!
I love my home town man!!!
Cheers. You have a great hometown
Love my state too coach Harrison Miss you
I think what surprises most people about our friendliness is that it's *genuine*. Most of us really are nice people with interest in the welfare of others. When I lived in Florida and traveled along the east coast of the US, it weirded people out that my friendliness wasn't fake. We Kansas Citians are just ... authentic.
Kansas City is on my bucket list. thanks for the suggestions
You'll love it
Come in the fall, football, baseball, nascar, Ren-Fest, haunted houses, best BBQ and steaks, good Italian food, music, tons of local activities once the plandemic is over.
Yay!! You'll love it here.
Yay!! Avoid February and August AT ALL COSTS :)
We've been living in KC for 6 years and I've never felt as enthusiastic about it as you are in this video. You made me really want to get it and explore more. Thank you!
Lived in KC my whole life! Hope you enjoyed your time ☺️
KCMO resident here, great list that only scratches the surface. And Arthur Bryant's is best.
Born and raised in KC, its kind of like a small town feel, but a medium sized city. It is really a great place.
That's exactly how I describe it to people!
I love Kansas City. I only live a couple of hours away, so it is daytrip territory. So much to do there!
I was surprised by the WWI museum. We were there from open to close.
Also, love the city market.
it is really well done
I love KC so much. I miss it all the time. ❤💛
I was pleasantly surprised when I visited KC :)
me too
Our streetcar is extending to the plaza!! 🥰🥰
KCMO!! You’ve made my day with enjoying your take on ol’ KC...Bravo sir! Puts it into perspective on why living here keeps you smiling. Cheers!
Kansas City is a really spread out City with a lot of smaller city's inside of it
Slaps is one of my favorites
Woke up to pee since it's 5 am on the west coast and saw I had a notification for your video and had to stop by to drop a Like (:
Thanks Gumer!
I love KC like no other place!
Boulevard Brewery, several distilleries, awesome!
I LOVE KANSAS CITY, GREAT VIDEO.
Been here in KCMO for 14 years now. We dont plan on leaving anytime soon!
Thank you for the great video! I really appreciate the friendliness of the Americans. And it is so cool to know the best places in one's hometown and be proud of it. Would you recommend Kansas City as a first destination in USA for someone who has never been there before? Greetings from Luxembourg.
No, check out New York or DC or LA first
I would start on a coast and work your way down/up or over, depending on your time! I love Chicago as a starter destination if you want to start more in the middle! DC is also a nice place to start, especially if you want history lessons, etc
If you come here first, we will just ruin everything else for you.
Love my city! ❤💙
Born here. Lived on East coast and South. Came back to KC. People are so paid back.
Also a TON of water fountains
I lived in KC from 1972 until 1995. I worked at MCI. I have some good memories but boy has it changed. It looks beautiful. Maybe I will consider returning for a visit.
That’s awesome! This is my city and I work right down there street from there!
Great video- if you only have a day trip downtown which sites would you recommend? Ideally if you can utilize the street car to get to them
There was a massacre in front of the Union Station in June 17 1933. You can still see the bullet hole.
I finally understand why my friend splits her time between Kansas City Missouri and Hawaii. Great video Thanks for sharing!
I am the same. I have so many friends that moved out there and loved it.
I love Kansas City I've lived here my whole life
Same! It's so rich in culture and diversity
I lived in Westport in the 70's then N. of River, loved KC.
I wish you went into more detail about the library you showed. It's probably my favorite library I've every been too.
You'll miss the music but still plenty of things to see and do
Great video.
