If you say you don't want to see her again, she thanks you, promises to answer your prayers, and tells you to go live your life as you see fit. If you say you want to be her Chosen then she just proclaims you her chosen on the spot. So yeah as long as Gale doesn't try to become a god he gets a pretty happy ending, even as an illithid.

The answer to both your questions is no. If you choose to go back to Faerun the game just ends. I romanced Karlach and my character just left her to die alone so he could get the crown. I hope they patch that or something cause i was kinda pissed.@@MasterRaven0707
@Silverbullet312 Thank you very much for the answer, this is what I was afraid, that if you play Gale and start a romantic relationship with someone, then Gale leaves his romantic interest alone without telling her anything and even if you return back to Faerun, nothing will change, you will not there will be no dialogues with your lover, howas if you never had it, it’s very shame, here Larian was cheated and didn’t work out the endings, I assume that other original characters have the same story, you just get the ending of your original character and that’s it and your romance with someone is for nothing not affected and not mentioned,bad Larian, very, very bad.
yeah it seems like they have a set order on how the origin characters have their end events. like lae'zel goes first, then gale, then astarion burns up, then karlach explodes etc. so even if im playing as gale, it just ends after seeing lae'zel fly off and i dont get to see the full sequence. i have a theory that if i had played as wyll i probably would have been able to be there to see the rest since he's always there with karlach until the end. the final origin scene also overwrites any romance ending scenes. the whole thing is just bizarre and desperately needs a revamp.@@MasterRaven0707
Honestly I love this. Gale to me, even with my custom character felt like the companion with his own story and his own destiny ahead of my own. He felt like a main character I was simply present in the life of. I was disappointed his ending was so abrupt, it was disappointing that so many companion plotlines bar Astarion, Lae'Zel and Shadowheart kind of felt like one-or-two moments of interest before being shelved until the end of the game.
I agree, very much similar to divinity 2 some characters only had some story in the final act where as others had their story progress through each act. I feel larian will add more in their definitive edition and will give each character more appeal to play/ bring along in party.

I was going to fight the nether brain on my first playthrough, but Gale begged me to let him sacrifice himself. I relented and he climbed up alone after teleporting everyone away. He sacrificed himself. But I got a bug, he appeared in the cutscene following his death. It was as though Mistra allowed him one last evening to celebrate this victory with his friends.
@@frolliecollie1849 that’s what they reported and that means every possible combination of endings and side quest finished that effects them. Someone did correct it and said it was 17,000 variations to be precise.
Not sure what impresses me more. A wizard physically climbing something or the fact that the cutscene made what he was climbing look like "in game climbable" scenery.
Would have been nice to get these scenes as a Tav. I helped Gale try and give the crown to mystra and we just got a small chat like "yeah, ill fish it out don't worry."
As a Tav romancing him, I got something entirely different. I didn't get the scene of Gale giving the crown to Mystra- but I got one afterward where the crown is handed over, his orb is gone, he's Mystra's chosen now, and he proposes to Tav.
my Gale was "i will be a god and ill make you my chosen" but not in friendly way, more like "say that shit one more time, and i will enslave you" :"( idk where I went wrong cuz I used Gale entire playthrough and was friendly with him. Is it cuz I rejected him...? Welp, at least I know he never get to become a god.
@@hiimkiNah, you have to convince him to not use the crown, quelling his ambition. He will disapprove, but it's all good. I did not romance him at all and got him to return the crown, I don't think rejecting him has any weight in this case.

I wouldn't count this as multiple endings - the story forces you to take the netherstones and fail to take control (even if Gortash is there to help you), then you chose between becoming ilithid, bringing the emperor or the gith prince as ilithid. Just because companions have some flavor after doesn't make up for the lack of impact your choices ultimately have, you're forced through the same route every time with minor differences.
Absolute Gale I’d very interesting. Mindflayers shun arcane magic, and with the Karsite weave inside Gale, he can consume typical magic and feed a new kind of Weave. Essentially giving mindflayer’s their own weave to work with. Or destroying the weave they despise.
So in the end only Gale gets to keep his Soul if he becomes a Illithid but only because of his past relationship with Goddess Mystra and how he proved himself to be a better person.
@@raydaveed Not really, others dont know what gonna happen after they became a ilithide, they can end not controlling thenselves and actually become something very different, Gale can get this ascension and get his soul and humanity restored living in Elysium with his loved goddess, this is way better than just become a ilithide living in a wrecked world with no guarantees.
@@4verse79 Yeah sorry i was talking about something different. Only gale talks with mistra and can keep his human soul with her. The others stay mind flayers if transformed but it is a debate wether or not they technically have a soul even in that state.
if you ask Jergal in moon towers about this, he will answer that illithids 100% dont have a soul, also he confirms it in his post credit scene. So i dont know how is it even debatable @@raydaveed
Yeah…no. Gods at the level of mystra can kill a mortal just by thinking about it. No magic required. You should whatch MrRhexx «deities in dnd ranked by power ». You learn how absolutely bonkers they are. For a mortal to really kill a god you need exceptional circumstances like when ao cast out the gods, thus making them mortal for a time ( albeit powerful ones) or possessing divine magic items that can make you teleport into their realm ( otherwise you lol just probably face an avatar of them…which they have plenty of), another divine item that can hide you for their quasi omniscient eyes and lastly a weapon capable of killing them ( I only know of one).
@@odasengoku7314 he created and used a level 12 spell. Back then she wasn’t limiting spells to lvl 9 like it is today. So long story short he used that spell to usurp all the magic from her in order to fight against the Phaerimm that was assaulting his country ( and because he wanted power ofc), turns out a mortal isn’t capable to wield that kind of power…so poof Krasus. Mystra had to then sacrifice her own life because the weave was destroying itself and without it no conventional magic… Of course being a god, death is kinda relative as long as they have followers so she just changed a bit and came back. Sadly for Krasus and the netherese, during the short period of time between the casting of the spell and Mystra dying…all conventional magic stopped working so their shinny floating island full of magical wonders plummeted to the ground in a giant explosion that created a big fat desert. Only two island were saved, one by Selûne and one by Shar, who teleported one each in their own realm. Ps: nowadays the only capable of lvl 10+ spells are the elves by using high magic which is in the portfolio of their patron deity Corellion but it’s way harder and require multiple wyzard together often sacrificing themselves in the process soooo it’s kinda rarely used.

But in the present day with Gale's situation, she now has the same charm that helps let Gale control when he wants to explode. The charm only sustains Gale's arcane hunger by using the Weave itself, so when you sever that.... BOOM

I don't get it...There is not a single reason why giving crown to Mystra scene was denied to non-origin Gale! His companion quest literally ends NOWHERE (unless you let him suicide against the brain). All that he gets is a pier scene with a vague dialogue about his intentions, and he's the ONLY character with the literally unfinished\unclosed questline. Lae'zel resolves hers in endgame too, but it's the wrapped up and finished. Karlach's arc is complete, one way or the other. Gale's last objective is "you need to take the stones back from Orpheus once you do the ritual, so you can fix the crown", but there's NO such an option. Apparently, origin-Gale has no problem with that, and he's allowed to get a proper in-game conclusion. This scene is my solid headcanon for his ending.
you dont see the ending cutscene, but it's implied he returns it if you tell him to do so (mentioned it he could recover it from the river). Game is missing the epilogues though (there's like 1 hour of Withers reading out the consequences of different actions)
This suck, I romanced Gale and we were supposed to be Gods together, but all I got in the end is him saying he will reforge the crown and I should wait for him, no cut sceen, no Mystra..
I assume Mystra just nukes GodGale on the spot. There's no way he could equal a Divine Rank 18 greater deity with millions of worshippers. He might've looked impressive, but the Lady of Mysteries would have just snotted him on the spot.
Well, that and he just became a god. He hadn't had the chance to really get experience with his powers and against a veteran god like Mystra, he was going to get pwned hard.

Kind of sad not getting to hear him actually say the line at 1:31 seeing as that is the response companion Gale comes out with if you let him make the sacrifice. Just the way he delivers it is so good. It really does show how much effort they put into this game and non-talking aside, fun to see how the Origins stories play out if playing as them getting to see some stuff you don't see if you aren't playing as them. I've actually got 2 Gale playthroughs planned. A Cheesy speed-ish run through tactician mode to get to the Act 2 variation of the sacrifice and get the achievement for completing the game on Tactician mode then a 'proper' run (probably not on tactician as I'm not good enough to play on that difficulty without cheese) through to the end of Act 1. Seeing the endings still has me debating which one I'll pick for that run. Do you still get the Mystra scene if you picked the Act 3 sacrifice?
You don't get the Mystra scene if you choose to blow up. When you talk to Mystra earlier on during his quest, if you say you're gonna use the orb and sacrifice yourself she says she'll still take your soul to Elysium after you die. But you don't get to see anything

Gah, don't think I'll do the Act 3 blow up as Gale then, would rather see that scene with Mystra. Probably do it in another characters playthrough so can hear him say that awesome line to the Netherbrain.
@@landsbetweendiary1476 Yup found that out the hard way, although it was only 1 hour and 45 minutes technically wasted as I sort of used speedrun technique to get there. Although I messed up the jumps through the shadow cursed lands and ended up luckily bumping into the Drider so walked with him (thankfully past the ambush spot). I did get achievement for destroying the brain though as I'd still not completed any of my proper runs through the game yet when decided to give it a go.
I'd say try Tactician on a full run. I suck at these kinds of games, Pathfinder I literally can not play above very easy. BG3 does not pose any trouble for me, just so many easy ways to get overpowered.
If origin characters get unique endings, I'm kind of curious now what kind of endings a Vampire Ascendant Astarion can get. On the normal custom PC ending he entirely gets passed over at the end with almost no camera time - he doesn't even get a scene like spawn Astarion burning up in the sun. Just... nothing. It was disappointing.
In my game he did start to burn up and had an emotional moment where he had to run for his life - but a number of scenes seem prone to bugging and disappearing at the end rn
to my understanding having her turned into a mind flayer also kills her and has her replaced by the tadpole that acts like her. i didnt really want to do that to her
the best thing non-romanced Karlach can get is a (supposedly?) happy everafter with Wyll the Blade of Avernus....in Avernus, that is. Romanced Karlach can have same thing with her love.
I mean it wouldn’t make sense at all lol. His godly powers source comes from a minuscule fraction of the weave, it’s like walking up to the US military with a singular Glock and expecting to beat them. The way it is also ties into Gales character flaws nicely

Illithid Orpheus must be seething after the first ending. Imagine sacrificing your body and soul to take your sworn foes down, just for the nerdy istik to go and blow them all up with a magical nuke.
I told gale to return the crown to mystra at the end, yet I never got this cutscene. I got an ending for all characters besides gale and shadowheart :( I was also disappointed that they never showed us returning to the the shadow lands to see what had been restored. I know it would have took alot of work but after them saying in the closing of act 2, that we could return...
fun thing is that Scepter was mentioned by the archivist in the House of Hope. but I looked everywhere, and it's not there (apparently). Not sure if it's a leftover from something cut or a glitch (in my scenarion Gale agreed to remain a human and give up the crown to Mystra)
I made Karlach my illithid because she was faithless she would've just been fed to the dead city walls when she died and she was scared of dying. Soo. I dunno. At least she was happy.
While the whole game is phenomenal, why in bloody hells cant you persuade Orpheus that you dont need a mindflayer if you are playing as Gale or have him in your party when you free him. I would be like "nah dude no need we got karsite weave, we gonna blow the bith up :)" ~DC 30 check.

Mystra couldn’t truly kill god Gale because god can’t die. If a god is “killed” they fall into a coma, until enough worshipers can awaken them in the astral sea.
@@colorpg152 Well other than Karsus she died to other gods (Helm when she was depowered during Time of troubles and later Cyric with Shar's help). Besides look at the dead three - they all died, but came back (honestly Ao is very patient with them, they along with Cyric are responsible for most of his headaches).

Man. Even the tentacle monster gets a good ending but god forbid you try to become god, then Mystra will fuck you over. The gods truly are a jealous bunch, do whatever you want as long as you don't encroach on what they feel is theirs, even if they were once mortal and gained those powers by mere chance as well.
they legit HAVE to do this, or AO. someone that is above them, will put them in their place. Mystra wouldnt give a damn if gale becomes a god or not, its him becoming a god of weave ( which is HER domain ) forcing her to either destroy him, or destroy herself.
To be honest, apart from a lackluster epilogue and some bugs in act 3, the thing that frustrated me most was listening to Swen Vincke's advice and not playing as an Origin character as I did 3 times with Divinity Original Sin 2. The endings seem so much more fleshed out. Currently on my 2nd playthrough with a good Dark Urge. Your time will come Karlach, Shadowheart, Wyll...

She, too, was an ordinary mortal who just so happened to be in the right place at the right time during the Time of Troubles. Then again, arrogance always was a fatal flaw of Mystryl... and Mystra... and also this Mystra. The first Mystra thought she could fight Helm even though she had only a fraction of her power, and he had all his godly power. She got an armored fist through the chest for that. And this Mystra, well... she got killed by Cyric and Shar. She's a bit too haughty and thinks she's invincible, even though she never has been.
yeah for me it felt like the character i was playing was replaced by some npc who only cares about the crown and mystra. he just leaves halfway through the ending and i had to watch a tav ending to find out wtf happened to everyone else and that was hardly better. i dont think i've ever been so let down by an ending before
I’m pretty sure mistral wouve ressirected him if he blowed the netherian orb. She’s a good goddess and she saved Elminsters life a lot of times ,also she was helping Gale with his problem . Idk why you guys so mad at goddess of magic which definitely meant no harm to anyone . And as a mistra chosen gale must have faith in her and must follow her orders. Otherwise he’s not any better than netherian idiots who thought they can use magic without understanding it’s origins and without respect .

Does exactly the same happen when you try to become a god as Illithid? Dialogue seems different, as the "Ambition" is bold in the Illithid version, while it's not in human version.
Wait. Gale could have been let to become a quasi god of ambition. A shtty god even among quasi gods but another ending nonetheless. It would also be really ironic for someone with ambitions to be like Karsus to meet an ironic end like him, a shtty version of Karsus meets a lesser shtty ending just because he is shttier XD
the only disappointint part of this game is weiredly enough the endings.. hopefully the inevitable enhanced edition will fix that. its weird after playing so many CRPG then play BG3 it doesnt have complete epilogue or/and even slides. you win, the city survive, and you get one port scenes that shows surviving member, plus one little scene with romance partner.. thats it. whatever happen to everyone else we dont fucking know as custom char

While I love this game, for such an adventure, we need more to the ending scenes, like 20 minutes of post personal ending movie lol. Because I’m sure they won’t give us real DLC. Fuck divinity original sin 3, if they could do a mass effect style, where you import your character, world state, choices, and expand, it would be god tier. As for scaling don’t go to 20, just go to 14, who cares, make leveling take 7482857394 XP and make it slow and find/create a progression system that breaks those 2 levels into 6 or something like that

So... why can't Gale be the one to be an Ilithid ALL the time? It seems like if you were to convince him not to become a god, he would win his soul back and not have to sacrifice anyone else's. Also, is there an ending where Gale detonates himself without anyone having turned into an ilithid? I swear I saw that somewhere. And did your playthrough not have Wyll renew his contract with Mizora, or does he just not offer that to her if Gale exploded?
for your first question, i guess cause gale doesn't know ahead of time that mystra is gonna save his soul so it'd be hard to persuade him to do that. and nah someone has to be an illithid, i tried to tell orpheus i would use the orb but he wasn't having it. for your last question, i got spoiled on karlach's endings ahead of time so i made wyll the grand duke so i could go with karlach to avernus which obviously didn't go the way i hoped

i actually did replay the third act a couple days ago except i didnt do gale's quest and doing that gave me the choice to give up on the crown so i could stay and go to avernus with karlach. i was a lot more satisfied with that ending. just a shame that gale's story in particular isn't finished until after the game's over.@@Loveless1128

when freeing orpheus i got the option to say "don't worry about it, i can use the orb" but he doesn't really trust you and you need to make someone an illithid anyway
its spoilers for final stage. but he is actually a githyanki and very powerful one. but theres an option where he becomes an Illithid for story purposes if you choose
@@Bakreingol Only for a few Githyanki-related parts. True, she and (possibly) Shadowheart go through the story arc of "don't follow the evil goddess", but those are self contained arcs without a ton of bearing on the main plot.
I hate it. I mean he seems to be so fking obsessed with power and he is always crying over his beloved goddess that no one gives a fuck about except him. My God, even at the very end he turns out to be an obedient dog unable to resist this slut because she kills him with a snap of her fingers. I bet romancing him is quite a thing to do, a man whines all the time about his ex and his inferiority complex. Kinda reminded me of the red prince who also fucked some otherworld creatures and was all that genius. Except for the red prince had more appealing personality.

I'm pretty sure that the devs will add an option to truly become a god, though not before Definitive Edition, I believe. Still, right now this endings are shitty as hell...
It is explained in his companion storyline that Gale use to be Goddess Mystra's lover. His appearance in the ending meeting Mystra is because he is now between mortality and ascension to Godhood. What he becomes is up to how player's handle his companion quest though the assumption if he takes the good path is that he chosen to stay in the mortal world and no longer crave power.

Either way, Gale choosing to stay in the mortal realm is because he wants to live his own life for once. He spent his entire life never being able to live his own life because of his own condition caused by his own greed and desire for power that could never be satisfied. Now that he is free from those things he reconsidered his life to be something less destructive and more positive.

@@colorpg152 I think you need to go through gales entire Companion quest first instead of assuming things based on my single comment and only a video showing his possible Origin endings alone. You do remember I said Gale was her former love. Not current lover. It was explained in his companion quest that Gale ruined their relationship when he did a very dumb thing by taking and using a dangerous artifact he did not understand. This lead to their relationship ending and his state in the game where he had to constantly absorb magical objects. He lived with the consequences for that action his entire life and how he turns out in the end is based on the choices made by the player. The good path ending results, if not romanced, normally in either him seeking to better himself now that his condition been resolved and no longer wish to make the same mistake again or he choose to renew his relation with Mystra now that he is better person and never make the same mistake again. Either way Gale still will continue to advance his magical powers but not to a point he is blindly obsessed with it in a unhealthy way. Gale never simp for Mystra as during that time they generally loved each other but after that action he did that lead to his condition their relationship fell a part. He never simp for Mystra through this game and his story arc for good path is focused on him redeeming himself for his past actions and becoming a better person (if player choose to help him move away from seeking power since Gale becomes unhealthly obssessed with power if he goes down his Evil path when he is trying to cure his condition)

If you say you want to be her Chosen then she just proclaims you her chosen on the spot. So yeah as long as Gale doesn't try to become a god he gets a pretty happy ending, even as an illithid.

The answer to both your questions is no. If you choose to go back to Faerun the game just ends. I romanced Karlach and my character just left her to die alone so he could get the crown. I hope they patch that or something cause i was kinda pissed.@@MasterRaven0707

yeah it seems like they have a set order on how the origin characters have their end events. like lae'zel goes first, then gale, then astarion burns up, then karlach explodes etc. so even if im playing as gale, it just ends after seeing lae'zel fly off and i dont get to see the full sequence. i have a theory that if i had played as wyll i probably would have been able to be there to see the rest since he's always there with karlach until the end. the final origin scene also overwrites any romance ending scenes. the whole thing is just bizarre and desperately needs a revamp.@@MasterRaven0707
Honestly I love this. Gale to me, even with my custom character felt like the companion with his own story and his own destiny ahead of my own. He felt like a main character I was simply present in the life of. I was disappointed his ending was so abrupt, it was disappointing that so many companion plotlines bar Astarion, Lae'Zel and Shadowheart kind of felt like one-or-two moments of interest before being shelved until the end of the game.
I agree, very much similar to divinity 2 some characters only had some story in the final act where as others had their story progress through each act. I feel larian will add more in their definitive edition and will give each character more appeal to play/ bring along in party.

I was going to fight the nether brain on my first playthrough, but Gale begged me to let him sacrifice himself. I relented and he climbed up alone after teleporting everyone away. He sacrificed himself. But I got a bug, he appeared in the cutscene following his death. It was as though Mistra allowed him one last evening to celebrate this victory with his friends.

Not sure what impresses me more. A wizard physically climbing something or the fact that the cutscene made what he was climbing look like "in game climbable" scenery.
Would have been nice to get these scenes as a Tav. I helped Gale try and give the crown to mystra and we just got a small chat like "yeah, ill fish it out don't worry."
As a Tav romancing him, I got something entirely different. I didn't get the scene of Gale giving the crown to Mystra- but I got one afterward where the crown is handed over, his orb is gone, he's Mystra's chosen now, and he proposes to Tav.

The only 2 crpgs with the better story are Planescape Torment and Fallout 2, and they have their own flaws as well.
I wouldn't count this as multiple endings - the story forces you to take the netherstones and fail to take control (even if Gortash is there to help you), then you chose between becoming ilithid, bringing the emperor or the gith prince as ilithid. Just because companions have some flavor after doesn't make up for the lack of impact your choices ultimately have, you're forced through the same route every time with minor differences.
Absolute Gale I’d very interesting.
Mindflayers shun arcane magic, and with the Karsite weave inside Gale, he can consume typical magic and feed a new kind of Weave.
Essentially giving mindflayer’s their own weave to work with. Or destroying the weave they despise.
So in the end only Gale gets to keep his Soul if he becomes a Illithid but only because of his past relationship with Goddess Mystra and how he proved himself to be a better person.

@@raydaveed Not really, others dont know what gonna happen after they became a ilithide, they can end not controlling thenselves and actually become something very different, Gale can get this ascension and get his soul and humanity restored living in Elysium with his loved goddess, this is way better than just become a ilithide living in a wrecked world with no guarantees.

if you ask Jergal in moon towers about this, he will answer that illithids 100% dont have a soul, also he confirms it in his post credit scene. So i dont know how is it even debatable

You should whatch MrRhexx «deities in dnd ranked by power ». You learn how absolutely bonkers they are.
For a mortal to really kill a god you need exceptional circumstances like when ao cast out the gods, thus making them mortal for a time ( albeit powerful ones) or possessing divine magic items that can make you teleport into their realm ( otherwise you lol just probably face an avatar of them…which they have plenty of), another divine item that can hide you for their quasi omniscient eyes and lastly a weapon capable of killing them ( I only know of one).

@@odasengoku7314 he created and used a level 12 spell. Back then she wasn’t limiting spells to lvl 9 like it is today.
So long story short he used that spell to usurp all the magic from her in order to fight against the Phaerimm that was assaulting his country ( and because he wanted power ofc), turns out a mortal isn’t capable to wield that kind of power…so poof Krasus.
Mystra had to then sacrifice her own life because the weave was destroying itself and without it no conventional magic…
Of course being a god, death is kinda relative as long as they have followers so she just changed a bit and came back.
Sadly for Krasus and the netherese, during the short period of time between the casting of the spell and Mystra dying…all conventional magic stopped working so their shinny floating island full of magical wonders plummeted to the ground in a giant explosion that created a big fat desert.
Only two island were saved, one by Selûne and one by Shar, who teleported one each in their own realm.
Ps: nowadays the only capable of lvl 10+ spells are the elves by using high magic which is in the portfolio of their patron deity Corellion but it’s way harder and require multiple wyzard together often sacrificing themselves in the process soooo it’s kinda rarely used.

But in the present day with Gale's situation, she now has the same charm that helps let Gale control when he wants to explode. The charm only sustains Gale's arcane hunger by using the Weave itself, so when you sever that.... BOOM

Disappointing when playing origin characters they won't say any dialogue.
I don't get it...There is not a single reason why giving crown to Mystra scene was denied to non-origin Gale! His companion quest literally ends NOWHERE (unless you let him suicide against the brain). All that he gets is a pier scene with a vague dialogue about his intentions, and he's the ONLY character with the literally unfinished\unclosed questline. Lae'zel resolves hers in endgame too, but it's the wrapped up and finished. Karlach's arc is complete, one way or the other. Gale's last objective is "you need to take the stones back from Orpheus once you do the ritual, so you can fix the crown", but there's NO such an option. Apparently, origin-Gale has no problem with that, and he's allowed to get a proper in-game conclusion. This scene is my solid headcanon for his ending.
Literally, I romanced him and we were married after the game, but I never got to see him return the crown. Or if he even did.
you dont see the ending cutscene, but it's implied he returns it if you tell him to do so (mentioned it he could recover it from the river). Game is missing the epilogues though (there's like 1 hour of Withers reading out the consequences of different actions)

Kind of sad not getting to hear him actually say the line at 1:31 seeing as that is the response companion Gale comes out with if you let him make the sacrifice. Just the way he delivers it is so good.
It really does show how much effort they put into this game and non-talking aside, fun to see how the Origins stories play out if playing as them getting to see some stuff you don't see if you aren't playing as them.
I've actually got 2 Gale playthroughs planned. A Cheesy speed-ish run through tactician mode to get to the Act 2 variation of the sacrifice and get the achievement for completing the game on Tactician mode then a 'proper' run (probably not on tactician as I'm not good enough to play on that difficulty without cheese) through to the end of Act 1. Seeing the endings still has me debating which one I'll pick for that run. Do you still get the Mystra scene if you picked the Act 3 sacrifice?
You don't get the Mystra scene if you choose to blow up. When you talk to Mystra earlier on during his quest, if you say you're gonna use the orb and sacrifice yourself she says she'll still take your soul to Elysium after you die. But you don't get to see anything

You don't get the Tactician achivement if you finish the game with Gale bomb in Act 2.
@@landsbetweendiary1476 Yup found that out the hard way, although it was only 1 hour and 45 minutes technically wasted as I sort of used speedrun technique to get there. Although I messed up the jumps through the shadow cursed lands and ended up luckily bumping into the Drider so walked with him (thankfully past the ambush spot). I did get achievement for destroying the brain though as I'd still not completed any of my proper runs through the game yet when decided to give it a go.
I'd say try Tactician on a full run. I suck at these kinds of games, Pathfinder I literally can not play above very easy. BG3 does not pose any trouble for me, just so many easy ways to get overpowered.
If origin characters get unique endings, I'm kind of curious now what kind of endings a Vampire Ascendant Astarion can get. On the normal custom PC ending he entirely gets passed over at the end with almost no camera time - he doesn't even get a scene like spawn Astarion burning up in the sun. Just... nothing. It was disappointing.
In my game he did start to burn up and had an emotional moment where he had to run for his life - but a number of scenes seem prone to bugging and disappearing at the end rn

I told gale to return the crown to mystra at the end, yet I never got this cutscene. I got an ending for all characters besides gale and shadowheart :(
I was also disappointed that they never showed us returning to the the shadow lands to see what had been restored. I know it would have took alot of work but after them saying in the closing of act 2, that we could return...
maybe if the game had allowed us to search for the scepter of Karsus, Gale would've had a chance at becoming a God
fun thing is that Scepter was mentioned by the archivist in the House of Hope. but I looked everywhere, and it's not there (apparently). Not sure if it's a leftover from something cut or a glitch (in my scenarion Gale agreed to remain a human and give up the crown to Mystra)

Besides look at the dead three - they all died, but came back (honestly Ao is very patient with them, they along with Cyric are responsible for most of his headaches).

To be honest, apart from a lackluster epilogue and some bugs in act 3, the thing that frustrated me most was listening to Swen Vincke's advice and not playing as an Origin character as I did 3 times with Divinity Original Sin 2. The endings seem so much more fleshed out. Currently on my 2nd playthrough with a good Dark Urge. Your time will come Karlach, Shadowheart, Wyll...

Seems Midnight has forgotten where she came from. She, too, was an ordinary mortal who just so happened to be in the right place at the right time during the Time of Troubles. Then again, arrogance always was a fatal flaw of Mystryl... and Mystra... and also this Mystra. The first Mystra thought she could fight Helm even though she had only a fraction of her power, and he had all his godly power. She got an armored fist through the chest for that. And this Mystra, well... she got killed by Cyric and Shar. She's a bit too haughty and thinks she's invincible, even though she never has been.
God all these endings are super disappointing while unironically being some of the less shit endings.
yeah for me it felt like the character i was playing was replaced by some npc who only cares about the crown and mystra. he just leaves halfway through the ending and i had to watch a tav ending to find out wtf happened to everyone else and that was hardly better. i dont think i've ever been so let down by an ending before

Otherwise he’s not any better than netherian idiots who thought they can use magic without understanding it’s origins and without respect .

While I love this game, for such an adventure, we need more to the ending scenes, like 20 minutes of post personal ending movie lol. Because I’m sure they won’t give us real DLC. Fuck divinity original sin 3, if they could do a mass effect style, where you import your character, world state, choices, and expand, it would be god tier. As for scaling don’t go to 20, just go to 14, who cares, make leveling take 7482857394 XP and make it slow and find/create a progression system that breaks those 2 levels into 6 or something like that

yeah when you talk to mystra in the temple she says she'll cure the orb if you return the crown. her removing it is probably what's happening at 11:42

Well, we can only hope we get to see that happening… I mean, it’s weird… I was under the impression that the crown would be lost and that would have made an amazing expansion narrative but after seeing your clip I’m just left with more questions 🤦🏻♂️
I romanced him and he just walked on the dock said he will search for the crown and I should wait for him then no cut sceen of anything, kinda sucks

So... why can't Gale be the one to be an Ilithid ALL the time? It seems like if you were to convince him not to become a god, he would win his soul back and not have to sacrifice anyone else's. Also, is there an ending where Gale detonates himself without anyone having turned into an ilithid? I swear I saw that somewhere. And did your playthrough not have Wyll renew his contract with Mizora, or does he just not offer that to her if Gale exploded?
for your first question, i guess cause gale doesn't know ahead of time that mystra is gonna save his soul so it'd be hard to persuade him to do that. and nah someone has to be an illithid, i tried to tell orpheus i would use the orb but he wasn't having it. for your last question, i got spoiled on karlach's endings ahead of time so i made wyll the grand duke so i could go with karlach to avernus which obviously didn't go the way i hoped

i actually did replay the third act a couple days ago except i didnt do gale's quest and doing that gave me the choice to give up on the crown so i could stay and go to avernus with karlach. i was a lot more satisfied with that ending. just a shame that gale's story in particular isn't finished until after the game's over.@@Loveless1128

when freeing orpheus i got the option to say "don't worry about it, i can use the orb" but he doesn't really trust you and you need to make someone an illithid anyway

@@Bakreingol Only for a few Githyanki-related parts. True, she and (possibly) Shadowheart go through the story arc of "don't follow the evil goddess", but those are self contained arcs without a ton of bearing on the main plot.
I hate it. I mean he seems to be so fking obsessed with power and he is always crying over his beloved goddess that no one gives a fuck about except him. My God, even at the very end he turns out to be an obedient dog unable to resist this slut because she kills him with a snap of her fingers. when talking to mystra after getting the karsus book from the vault, you can tell her that you're going to use the orb and she tells you elysium will be waiting. thats also where she takes illithid gale@@Thedeepseanomad

It is explained in his companion storyline that Gale use to be Goddess Mystra's lover. His appearance in the ending meeting Mystra is because he is now between mortality and ascension to Godhood. What he becomes is up to how player's handle his companion quest though the assumption if he takes the good path is that he chosen to stay in the mortal world and no longer crave power.

Either way, Gale choosing to stay in the mortal realm is because he wants to live his own life for once. He spent his entire life never being able to live his own life because of his own condition caused by his own greed and desire for power that could never be satisfied. Now that he is free from those things he reconsidered his life to be something less destructive and more positive.

@@colorpg152 I think you need to go through gales entire Companion quest first instead of assuming things based on my single comment and only a video showing his possible Origin endings alone.
You do remember I said Gale was her former love. Not current lover. It was explained in his companion quest that Gale ruined their relationship when he did a very dumb thing by taking and using a dangerous artifact he did not understand. This lead to their relationship ending and his state in the game where he had to constantly absorb magical objects.
He lived with the consequences for that action his entire life and how he turns out in the end is based on the choices made by the player. The good path ending results, if not romanced, normally in either him seeking to better himself now that his condition been resolved and no longer wish to make the same mistake again or he choose to renew his relation with Mystra now that he is better person and never make the same mistake again. Either way Gale still will continue to advance his magical powers but not to a point he is blindly obsessed with it in a unhealthy way.
Gale never simp for Mystra as during that time they generally loved each other but after that action he did that lead to his condition their relationship fell a part. He never simp for Mystra through this game and his story arc for good path is focused on him redeeming himself for his past actions and becoming a better person (if player choose to help him move away from seeking power since Gale becomes unhealthly obssessed with power if he goes down his Evil path when he is trying to cure his condition)
