I laughed quite a bit when I saw this in my playthrough, out of everyone Astarion was treating Gale like a beer buddy, like "Finally, someone stronger than me that knows how it is to be on top"
Well, at there is an explanation on why you can't just fix Karlach's heart yourself. If you played her as an origin character and romanced God Gale, could you ascend with him and finally get out of hell?
Divine Intervention in D&D is rarely that straightforward. The overgod Ao doesn't like it when the gods are too direct in mortal affairs. Moreover, Gale as the god of ambition is a neutral entity and him intervening for Karlack would place him in direct conflict with the Archduchess of Avernus. An archdevil is a potent threat to a nascent god.
the issue is that gale is a true neutral deity, and is domain is ambition, so a divine intervention in favor of one specific mortal that don't have a meaning for is dominion isn't gonna happend. gods haves very strongs rules on how and why they can do things, the best way for them to shape the mortal world is through clerics actually, so maybe if someone as the ambition to aid karlach and do a prayer to him he would be able to help, or if he ask on of is cleric to do so it would work, but again he can't do it to straigh forward like you ask someone to pass the salt. actually being a god in the dndverse is more work and rules than previleges. when you have Tyr and Ao watching carefully what you do, trust me, you don't want to mess up because they will punish you.

can ghaik gale also acend to godhood? would he still be god of ambition instead of god of big brains? what if he starts snaccing around at/ on the party?
Yes he can. No he will be God of Ambition. In epilogue he will have actions/mechanics of both God of Ambition and Ghaik. Dialogues will have both options of Ilithid and God. No NPC will point out the weird fact that gods somehow accepted abomination into the Pantheon. He will also have a very special model.

@@morpheossexcept that’s a parents perspective only. She is the child, robbed of her childhood and a happy life with her family.
