I see Potato is employing my typical strategy for playing Civ 6. I'm a simple man, I like watching the map fill up with my color and the city counter number go up. Both make my brain go brrr.
@@Lcrxss_ Oh bet i will never do it again that was a one time acomplishment , i actually never won in a regular way that the game intends you to win i always set the "One more turn" option i suck at this game i dont understand how tile yield works and a lot of other things i wish i was better so i can actually challenge myeslf in harder dificulties but sadly im a total noob
@@Lcrxss_ These have kept me away from Civ 6. Tradition is my go-to in Civ 5 so anything that ruins a good city in 6 makes me want to close the game. There’s always something that ruins a good city.
Loving this series. Big fan of Catherine as a leader, and would definitely have re-rolled if I had pulled this start myself! Also water mills even better than you gave them credit for, since they dont take a pop to work they are more like a 3 food 1 production tile rather than a 1,1. And even more food if you have bonus food resources.
Between To Arms! and Reform the Coinage, I like the latter in that scenario just so my internal routes aren't being plundered. Losing those would not only give them gold, but replenishing them takes your gold/production. Also might lose out on more production from those routes than what is gained in a 15% military boost. Loving the videos, can't wait to see how this war unfolds.
Yeah, the fact that all.hos routes are internal, Gaul had just declared, and their troops are already in his borders near Paris- the trade hub. I was surprised he didn't want to protect his routes.
I really like games that show a rough start because I feel you can always learn more from a game that goes rough, rather than one that goes incredibly smooth. It's why disaster saves can often be fun to see. This series for sure was a classic Potato Disaster Save caliber start, as I'm sure myself and many others would've noped out the second Greece took Paris.
This reminds me of a lady six sky start I had, trying out deity with no production - all flat/marsh tiles. Did not go well but, half a year later and a constricted narrow peninsula start with Poland and a barb rush. So rough, the only positive was that the land was so narrow I could bottleneck the 2 barb camps. Managed to win the game through domination but it was a tough, tough game.
I spent the final ten minutes or so of the last video wondering why Potato didn't levy Muscat, so in the first 30 seconds of this video I was screaming, "See?! See??!"
Hi Potato, one small optimization you may wanna consider: fortify and cancel fortification before promoting keeps the unit fortified (if it doesnt move this turn of course). Kinda nice to squeeze in one turn of healing
It’s turn 125 and you’re wrapping up the industrial era. You’ve got all the cities you plan on settling down and you’re getting ready to snowball. There’s one or two civs that are far and away ahead and will be the major threat to you winning. What is the best and worst civ to see challenging you?
6:10 Potato : The AI doesn't know to be cautious, take advantage of it and steal/kill their units 7:15 Also Potato leaving his settler alone being captured by the AI Barbarian
You're at the bottom of the map with ocean on both sides and the AI sends multiple military units into your lands. The only conclusion possible is that war is imminent. Potato still waits for the war declaration to order his troops into position. I would have had my units shadowing his from the moment they entered my territory. You'd be surprised how many wars can be averted by a show of force.
It would be interesting to see what’s going on in your brain as you switch back and forth between Civ V/VI/VII because it’s like you’re demonstrating fluency in several dialects of a spoken language and I would bet it would look similar on fMRI if we could find the part of the brain where Civ lives.
The biggest BS of barbs is when they have an enemy ai player unit half dead next to them, but they choose to walk away from the unit kill to either chase my retreating unit or pillage one of my tiles
I've always wondered about this. When doing espionage mission (stealing fund, tech boosts, etc) in the enemy's cities, is it better to just stay in that city since its working? Or is it better to move around to reduce the risk they get caught/killed?
Unfortunately this game was effectively over by turn 100. Once you get so many cities up and running, the AI can't keep up. There are too many degrees of freedom and too many things to waste resources on.
Potato fans, I have a Civ 6 question - I have been playing the game for a few years and I'm pretty comfortable with most of the mechanics but there is one thing I cant quite sort out. No matter how many rounds of gain sources I run, promotions they earn, boosts granted from grand masters chapel or escape route chosen, my spies fail 100% of offensive spy operations (outside of the two 100% success operations of course). They will fail syphon gold missions with 90%+ chance of success regularly. I have played 500+ hours and tried countless times with so many different leaders and have still never completed even one single spy mission. When I watch content creators play, I see their spies succeed quite often so it makes me wonder if my install is potentially bugged or something? Anyone else have this or any idea why it might happen?

I love doing this until it's turn 200 ish and it takes 20 minutes a turn and I get so brain numbed I end up starting a new game 😭
@@Lcrxss_ The other day i conquered the entire Earth (HUGE) it wasnt really that bad i remember it being way worse in CIV5 for some reason

There’s always something that ruins a good city.
Lmao, Potato is giving a speech of how uncautious the AI in making a move while his settler got captured by a barbarian XD
Came looking for this comment, in case I don't need to make it myself.

AI: Making 150 culture/turn
Also AI: Good ol' Oligarchy, nothing beats that
It's almost 2025, and for Potato McWhiskey, Agency is the new Tempo
Today was a good day, I heard Potato say farm triangle as only he can. And i replied "boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew.'
Man, I cant believe we are still in this. What a wild game
Oh so NOW Greece wants peace? In the immortal words of Dr. Evil, "How about NOOOOOO!"
What a crazy game.
Only thing that would be better would be if it was Wilhelmina, so you could use the complete quote, "How about nooooo, you crazy Dutch bastard!" 😄

Nice, I literally just finished watching the previous episode. Loving your content @PotatoMcWhisky!
Same! It was a nice little suprise.
Keep spoiling us with Civ 6 content! ❤️
Yevette, another of Potato's ladies-in-waiting, is now making some moves and giving the gossip.
Be neat if the icon marker for Wonders faded out if the Wonder has been built already. Make knowing if it's available or not super quick.
i wish you had secret societies, owls would not just be hilarious, but very synergetic.

Canada
I always put down lots of cities, although I spread them further apart. Hog the land and its resources, and it will benefit you throughout the game!
I don't think I've ever saw an empire that relied more on Farms than this one.
Ah, you should see me play Pachacutti😅

Love the Civ plays! What did you think of Exploration Civ 7 stream?
Would love to see you do a run as Australia :D
Please play empire of ants it’s an awesome game and I would love too see you play it!!!
Awesome as always! Curious why you didnt prioritise finishing Ancestral Hall before settler spam?
Because he wanted the best option for the long term.

Love ya Potato! Thx and keep it up -Ride on
I feel like waiting until turn 129 to finish your first district (besides the gov plaza) was wayyy less than ideal
The skip on the walls in your border cities has me nervous.
Not sure rushing to settle Calais at the very bottom in the tundra and ice was worth it when you still had plenty of space elsewhere.
It looks like your resolution changed, the mini map and the UI look much bigger than before 🤔

move around. get in a city, do the mission that increases effectiveness by 2 levels, do the mission you want to do in the city, repeat
the AI will move their spies around in response to spy actions taken against them
"No Peace for Tyrants" =D
IT WAS SO OBVIOUS Xd
