I had one battery that refuses to charge and EGO replaced it with the NEW 3rd generation EGO battery. The NEW EGO batteries have a power level indicator around the battery power button. This lets you know about what percentage the battery has left to ensure that you have enough power in it to complete the job you're attempting to do.
EGO Power+ System battery warranty against defects. 5 year limited warranty on EGO outdoor power equipment and 3 year limited warranty on EGO Power+ System battery packs and chargers
At EGO they pride themselves on manufacturing products that not only have power but are reliable and robust too. That’s why all their products are covered by extended warranties that you can rely on. Just note that It took me 3 days of calling them to get them on the phone. after speaking to someone on the phone the sent me out a new battery. It took them 12 days to get me my new battery. I got not only my battery replaced but I got the new battery they have out with the fuel gauge. What a surprise to get this in the mail. They mailed it out with UPS.

I watched this video and gave customer service a call for a replacement battery and they picked up right away. I didn’t have a receipt and they said that’s fine. They asked for the serial number and ran me through the troubleshooting process. Turns out my battery lost about 45% of its life span over 2 years. They went ahead and ordered me a replacement. They said this is a one time thing and next time I will have to have proof of purchase. The phone call took about 10 minutes and was such an easy process. Great company and great tools. Batteries die it happens to all of them.

Excellent work 🔥 I just bought the same lawn mower at Lowes. The battery the came with it is the one that you just press the button and stays green. I used it for almost a half a day. Wow for a lawn mower battery, that sure last a long time. And that was on my first charge. Stay safe.

Your right that power in the EGO will leave you wondering why you ever used gas lol. I know I have got a lot of use out of mine and can't say enough good things about the power you get. The fuel battery is really nice. Mine came with just the push green but the new one they sent me was really cool. I like to push the button and see how much power I have left to finish a job but it's not really necessary.

They have some serious work to do on the quality of their batteries. I've had numerous issues with them after relatively light use. Love the tools for the power and design, but nobody wants a beautiful tool that sits idle because you can't get the battery to last more than a year or two.

Thanks for the review! I'm building out my lawn tool eco-system and am between Ryobi and EGO but, considering how expensive the batteries are and after watching your review on how difficult customer service is and how hard it was for you to get a replacement battery, it makes it an easy choice to go with Ryobi. I'll admit EGO makes a slightly better product but the cost of their batteries are much more costly and ff they don't have good customer service its a no brainer which brand to go with!

Less than a year in, same battery failure. Ours worked last week. This week, neither charger will even register it. I will say, however, that the warranty process seemed somewhat more reasonable this time than in your experience. I had them to sending out a warranty replacement within 20 minutes, although I waited on hold 15 minutes after that point to confirm. They also don't promise when the replacement will ship so this might all be a ruse.

Love EGO but I too started to have charging issues unfortunately. My 2.5 (newer model) charges all the way ( all bars are fully green) but as soon as I take it off charger and start using it it soon ( 1 minute) it loses 2 green bars...this is new. Thanks for the video.

I just started using EGO tools. I write the serial number of the tool, battery and charger on the receipt and scan the receipt into my computer. Then I go to the EGO online site to register. They ask for the serial number, where you bought it (it had better be an EGO authorized seller), and to send them a copy of the receipt where I send the copy stored in my computer. If I ever need warranty service this should make it go faster.
One of the reasons it takes longer to get the battery is the lithium batteries have to be shipped by ground, I think, unless the seller has their own air force, like Amazon.

I've had two of my latest gen batteries fail and then one of the replacement ones failed. My local hardware store was kind enough to replace my batteries out of their own stock as EGO Australia was just not cooperating. I love my EGO mower, line trimmer and especially my 18 inch chainsaw - they are just the best - but what use is good equipment if the batteries are not up to standard? I plan to sell my EGO gear, even though I have two brand new previous gen batteries working well. I have lost confidence in the EGO brand and the way they deal with customers. I have never had issues with other battery brands, even once. EGO has changed certain things with the new gen batteries, I do know that as the rep said so but they don't want to admit that to customers... I plan to do a video on my social media accounts where I have around 25,000 subscribers. I will be kind and fair but also transparent as customers deserve to know the truth behind the latest battery issues.

So, this is my 2nd summer using these batteries, with a leaf blower and weed whacker.
I've got two of the larger 5.0AH batteries and while the runtime is decent, in the past month I've see the following:
The battery has 2 charge bars flashing so I figure it's time to charge the battery.
I plug in the battery charger, place the battery on the charger and the charger fan whirls up no problem.
Within about 15 minutes - the chargers seems to turn off.
I take the battery off the charger and sure enough, it still only has 2 charge bars flashing.
So I try it again, unplug the charger - plug it back in - and start the process again.
This has happened 3x in a row.
I doubt it's overheating because the charger fan whirls up - and the house air conditioning is on, but I can't be sure.
Is the problem the battery, the charger, or both?
EDIT: Ok, so this time I watched as it charged - of the 5 separate green circular bars on the battery - the fan seemed to turn off during the 2nd to last green charging bar. I took off the battery and reseated it on the charger and sure enough the charger fan whirls up again and continues charging the battery. I'm convinced something is wrong with the battery charge level / voltage, not communicating properly with the charger itself? Or, maybe the charger itself is overheating - I'm speculating here...

All Ego batteries have a high failure rate. I own 3 and they all are defective. When placed on the charger, the light blinks green and allt he charge lights illuminate as if it's fully charged, but it's not. Two still take "some" charge, but I have to have them on the charger all the time, with one of those AC timers that turns the charger on every 15 minutes. For a second, a tiny bit of charge goes through. So by the time my yard needs to get mowed again, the battery has enough charge in it. I'm sure this trick won't work, at some point.

Update: my experience couldn't go better with customer service....I called them...had to wait fir call back...about 15-20 minutes....told lady what I noticed with my battery that seemed to lose with in less then a minute...1 bar then a second bar...she did a brief trouble shoot then agreed with that something wasn't right and started the process of sending a new battery....so so far so good.....will update when I actually got replacement.
It is a bit disappointing that battery began to fail at the 2 year mark so if you purchase their equipment make sure you register it. I lightly use the blower I have...just a few times a year. But when working it's a great blower.

I guess EGO didn't expect that customers would have problems with their tools, what a mistake.
After several attempts to get them on the phone then 2 days of testing and confirming a defective 7.5 amp battery for my Mower they said that they would replace it, wow that's great I thought.
Going on 5 weeks so far and I have not received it, no stock they claim yet retailers are fully stocked with EGO products.
In my experience with EGO Warranty Service it is TERRIBLE and if you need their help you can go for weeks if not months before you get to use the tools again.
I would not recommend buying their products.

Sometimes it can be slow to get them on the phone. Other than that they send out a new battery in the mail and you keep your old battery. Ya don't buy EGO. Their batteries fail quickly (2-3 years) and they cost $200 to replace. I had a gas powered craftsman that ran without incident for 20 years. This company is a joke. Their warranty department is outsourced and doesn't care about customer service. Their model is clearly to get you invested in their tools and then keep buying batteries every 3 years.
