I think monsters just aren't aware of how weak human children can be. Like in base Undertale, none of them really comment ahout how they're about to kill you (in pacifist). Even Toriel only realizes what she's done AFTER she kills you (her expression in a split second).

this makes me really think of crossbones as just sans if he wasn't sad, and decide not to give up like in undertale, here he really trays to make us a good person, rather then sans who just keeps watching us and does nothing, + crossbones seem to get as much sleep as he needs unlike, sans who just overworks himself.

And lastly, Sans never says that he knows what the surface is like, he only says that getting there doesn't really appeal to him.
I get why sans doesnt want you to fight, but for muffet it doesn't make any sense. She literally tries to kill you, an innocent child, and then she has the audacity to call you a bad person for fighting back!
I definitely still think that OG Sans doesn't intervene in Undertale is because he is still bound to his job as the "Judge". He doesn't really have this restriction in this universe, so that's why he can intervene more freely.
@@rogueemperor5142 Also, in Undertale, he's aware you can reset and come back, so instead of trying, he guilt trips you for every bad thing you do in judgement hall and the phone call. In genocide, he knows he can't guilt trip us, so he makes us rage quit.
In Undertale it's not because of his role as a "judge", but instead that he promised Toriel to not hurt you, and because of that, he can't make any attempts to stop you. But here he never made a promise, so he is fully capable of stopping you earlier if he needs to, or at the very least, trying to help others.
To be fair, he apparently holds the child to a higher standard. Probably cause he’s still aware of their reset ability. And because their power is far stronger then any one monster alone. He even says in the evacuation route fight, that he feels as if Chara has a bigger responsibility to do the right thing first instead of monsters. Great power comes great responsibility or something like that. With his own justified, albeit not completely full-proof arguments.

@@ScuffedWarden sure. Again I never said it was a fool-proof argument. However it is one that Sans clearly stands by for his own reasons. And to his credit, it does have some merit to it.
That's why, I imagine, so many fangames are left unfinished. When your making a demo it's way easier to put a ton of care and detail, but once you start to get farther in development it becomes nigh impossible to keep track of. Team Switched seems pretty dedicated, and Undertale Yellow proves it's possible, so I think they'll manage it eventually.
seems like they'll all merge into neutral, like UT. except maybe evacuation route? if you dont cook with muffet or dont hangout with sans it'll probably lock you into neutral. Just dialogue and maybe some interactions may change, which undertale had a LOT so im not worried seeing the size of the team compared to og UT.

Sans seems much more. . . Aware of us resetting in this AU, as opposed to normal Undertale where he tells by your expression and his secret codeword. I have my own problems with that sort of interpretation of him anyway, but that's probably the only reason I can think of for why he'd grill us for attempting to Kill Muffet, since this is about as Self-defencey as you can get. You don't see him holding her accountable for anything she did, like her tying up and trying to kill a child. Or even her succeeding at that multiple times. It's all about their responsibility to reset and do the right thing. "I didn't think you had it in you" as if every fight hadn't been a fight to the death up to that point in the aisles anyway. I'd use oppression from humans as an excuse, but Muffet is literally a cannibal who would eat her fellow monster if it was convenient for her and is singlehandedly the reason hotland's and core's Genocide route is possible in the main universe. I don't like Muffet, and Sans being preachy about it isn't working. He clearly picks and chooses who he wants to save and Chara clearly ain't on that list. I like that he does at least do more to help in the ruthless route though. That was something I always held against him in the OG game. They clean up his act in that route, but sorta make him insufferable otherwise

That doesn't really answer my question. Because at least mid pacifist there's nothing for Chara to change for. He's all like "I didn't think you'd try to kill her" when he admits to assisting in manufacturing this false sense of danger himself. I'm not saying he should've let Muffet die, "A hero saves everyone, even the villains", I'm just saying that was entirely on him. He shouldn't have been surprised about it, and Muffet is still an awful person.

i was doing neutral and before sparing koffin decided to see what happens if you kill him. i tried to deal the final blow in some different scenarios (before and after checking on him) and sans still just picks him up but instead of "really?" says "miss me?", then the following dialogue is the same. honestly pretty sad this game doesnt give you many choices of who to kill or not...
iirc, if you are on neutral (not evac route) and have a high lv (I had 7 lv), he would be mad and say that children that may be in the wheel are very impressionable and you set a very bad example fot them

This was actually the first thing I tried on my first playthrough. I was so curious of what Sans and Papyrus' reactions would be if I killed Muffet (yes i'm a psychopath).
2:20 i tried to do the same thing with koffin-k to, but i did it after he turned his back and got a different dialouge, the detail in this game is incredible.
probably the only thing i dislike about this fangame is just how stupidly powerful sans is literally the only monsters we know are stronger are flowey and the temmies, thats it! not even asgore compares to the stupidly strong super-powered skeleton! edit: what i mean is that he is entirely untouchable, and prevents you from defending yourself he literally just ignores damage in the neutral fight! overly long reasons why i think he is OP 1. Entirely untouchable. Sans in UT can't just stop time and place a cardboard cutout in front of him in the time it takes to attack! 2. Sans saves Muffet and Koffin K, but not Chara in either of these fights. Sans claims kids were watching during the second fight, and he just lets Chara die. What a hero, relying on powers he doesn't know exist. (He is lucky Chara can reset) 3. Isn't the human supposed to be stronger than EVERY SINGLE MONSTER COMBINED!? Sans easily tosses the human around in the start of the Ruthless fight. UT Sans doesn't instantly send you flying out of judgement hall, does he? 4. He has literally no weaknesses. UT Sans could tire out, Crossbones, however? Practically nothing until Ruthless, and even then he still put up the cutout at the end. You can disagree with me, but I do in fact think that TS!Underswap Sans is OP. (I love literally everything else about the fangame, this is just a small issue to me) I probably went overboard... Oh well.
I mean that's kind of always been the case with Sans, his fight is the hardest in Undertale for a reason. But in Undertale he's depressed, listless, and bound by a promise, so he has no interest in intervening, unlike Superhero Sans.
Strong-willed? Yes. Steadfast? Yes. But he isn’t **strong** in the typical sense. His physical strength doesn’t carry his character, it’s his confidence and willpower to actively help others.

People keep talking about muffet part. Ok, lets get this straight. Muffet deal is to kill human to: 1. keep the bakery up. 2. sell his soul to "somebody" (probably temmie, but it doesnt matter). First of all, monsters still need one last soul to break the barrier, dont forget about undertale canon. every monster in undertale attack you to send your soul to asgore (toriel in ts!us). they literally HAVE to kill you no matter what. There is no toriel to ask sans to watch over child. there is a damn asgore who's friends with papyrus (like toriel friends with sans), thats why, basically, PAPYRUS has to be the one who watch over the child and NOT let muffet kill him. Noone asked SANS to defend the child.So if muffet kills chara, *BOOM* happy ending for monsters and freedom. Anyway, as sans says, he just wanted to see how chara actually act when she is attacked. Its just like trying to kill froggit at the start of ruined home. Asgore saves froggit (btw if you attack froggit poorly he wont actually defend him, just say that human is scared by froggit,and as i seen, weakest attack deals ~10 damage, which was half of froggit hp. Strongest attack could literally one shot froggit) and sans saves muffet from literal death.
Actually, not all monsters in Undertale can tell you're a human. The rabbit shopkeeper can't tell you're a human since in the pacifist epilogue, she says she heard a human was the reason they were free and says she'll give them a hero's welcome completely unaware that is you, Bratty and Catty are also unaware you're a human as they say they are totally hyped for the destruction of humanity and in the pacifist epilogue you can tell them you're a human they act suprised and claim that when they said they were hyped for the destruction of humanity, they were joking. Also, Burgerpants mentions that if Asgore gets one more soul, he will have a chance of achieving his dream of acting on the surface and given how desperate and unhinged Burgerpants is, he most likely doesn't know you're a human or he would probably try to tear your soul out himself or something like that.
Makes sense sans isn’t gonna let you kill someone in front of him and his brother. He knows you’re a time traveller and he knows that you can beat muffet without killing, especially since humans are canonically wayyy stronger then monsters

I Honestly wouldn't be surprised, as you never really level Up your LOVE and fighting is not really making your fights easier. (In fact, crossbone's fight is harder if you attack as ACTing actually helps you survive)
I know the greasers are just like the enemies in Deltarune,mettacrit might count though but possibly not and depending on how Larry and Harry work you probably can't if it's like the genocide route

if you fight mettacrit at the right time it doesnt end pacifist, when he's hinting at you to give him a twist, the twist can be you "killing" him which ends the fight sooner but also acts as a spare

The question: what if we will try to kill harry and larry in Pacifist i mean in genocide they have infinite snacks for healing which is forces us to push larry right at the cliff but since in Pacificst we fight them in koffin k's office then i am curious does that mean we can do a betrayal kill against them or not
As far as I know, fighting them in pacifist just results in knocking them out no matter how hard you try. I got that in my pacifist playthrough. Im 99 percent sure you cant betray kill them in that fight, since the fight doesn't even end with a prompt to spare
Also, flower wanted to go straight to Asgore and so did clover up till the wild East I’d argue by comparison Chara in under swap, at least, form my reading, seems more compelled by the player to move forward, then by their own volition therefore, having more time for what I’d consider smelling the roses(ie sticking around and hanging out)
This can be seen in all routes, however, only in the genocide route is it completed in all others clover has priorities change choosing to give up their soul, finally confront Asgore or stay in the underground
late comment, but there's some dialogue you missed *muffet:* if this is done on neutral or late evacuation (started in starlight isles), sans and papyrus will know you're a threat to muffet and see if you can change. if you don't, you're left alone in the room with sans. he goes dark in the eyes and says "get out of here", you're teleported outside and can't interact with muffet any further *harry and larry:* if you attack and defeat them, they'll be knocked unconscious and the fight will end in koffin's room rather than outdoors. when one falls, the other will attempt to avenge them unless you turned them against one another beforehand, in which they'll start laughing *koffin-k:* actually a really in-depth fight when it comes to endings. i believe your result was from having attacked muffet before. if you're on true compassion and attack koffin, sans will ask what exactly that was supposed to be, then drop the question and proceed normally. i'm not sure of the nature behind this, but i did a max exp non-evacuation neutral run and *didn't* betray koffin, attacked upfront. he actually realized that i was trying to kill him and was in shock. sans put him away and had a speech about how there were children on the crowl jewel watching the fight. koffin's character sheet changed to "status: protected" and ended with "that last look he gave me...". out of curiosity i got a game over in the crossbones fight as that's the only way to see him again (can't date sans on neutral), unfortunately they didn't account for that
if you try to kill koffin K without trying to kill muffet, the dialogue will be a lil different. Crossbones says "What was that" but not in charachter(the voice is sans' not crossbones') Koffin would comically say "what was what" and it's the same after that
hmmm i dont know, this level of dialogue needs some rework. Sans's logic doesnt make sense here, Muffet *did* tried to kill us, Self Defense is everything important at this point, even if it costs their own death
I don't find UTY's characters that interesting. I mean, they are cool, but it feels like you have too little time to get attached to them. Though, this game does pretty good job expanding underground's world. I also like neutral and no mercy endings

UTY > TS!US (Both are really good fangames but I just prefer the originality of the character plots and geno theme oute of UTY) but thats comparing a complete fangame vs a unfinished one
It's not valid to compare the two in the slightest UTY tries to stick with the original vision of undertale as close as possible, which makes it also inherit all the...restrictions TSUS is an independent from original. It has all the freedoms to innovate and add whatever new cool gimmicks it wants, which might (debatably for some) make it a whole lot better
@peeka_ in case you don't know, TS!US made with the idea of turning Underswap and making characters behave more like their real Undertale counterparts. In other words, TS!US tries to stay as close to Undertale's character writing as possible. Sans is the best example of this. UTY tried to stay away from reusing Undertale content for the record.

The intentional clunkiness in certain parts to fit right in with the original undertale (which IS NOT bad in any way btw) when compared side by side (Although in some parts the art quality is noticeably better than Undertale, but nevertheless)

this makes me really think of crossbones as just sans if he wasn't sad, and decide not to give up like in undertale, here he really trays to make us a good person, rather then sans who just keeps watching us and does nothing, + crossbones seem to get as much sleep as he needs unlike, sans who just overworks himself.
Sans being depressed is not canon at all and is mostly just a theory. One of the big-dumb-bang mandella effects of the undertale fandom.

I definitely still think that OG Sans doesn't intervene in Undertale is because he is still bound to his job as the "Judge".
He doesn't really have this restriction in this universe, so that's why he can intervene more freely.

@@rogueemperor5142 Also, in Undertale, he's aware you can reset and come back, so instead of trying, he guilt trips you for every bad thing you do in judgement hall and the phone call. In genocide, he knows he can't guilt trip us, so he makes us rage quit.
In Undertale it's not because of his role as a "judge", but instead that he promised Toriel to not hurt you, and because of that, he can't make any attempts to stop you.
But here he never made a promise, so he is fully capable of stopping you earlier if he needs to, or at the very least, trying to help others.

To be fair, he apparently holds the child to a higher standard. Probably cause he’s still aware of their reset ability. And because their power is far stronger then any one monster alone.
He even says in the evacuation route fight, that he feels as if Chara has a bigger responsibility to do the right thing first instead of monsters. Great power comes great responsibility or something like that. With his own justified, albeit not completely full-proof arguments.

That's why, I imagine, so many fangames are left unfinished. When your making a demo it's way easier to put a ton of care and detail, but once you start to get farther in development it becomes nigh impossible to keep track of. Team Switched seems pretty dedicated, and Undertale Yellow proves it's possible, so I think they'll manage it eventually.

Sans seems much more. . . Aware of us resetting in this AU, as opposed to normal Undertale where he tells by your expression and his secret codeword. I have my own problems with that sort of interpretation of him anyway, but that's probably the only reason I can think of for why he'd grill us for attempting to Kill Muffet, since this is about as Self-defencey as you can get. You don't see him holding her accountable for anything she did, like her tying up and trying to kill a child. Or even her succeeding at that multiple times. It's all about their responsibility to reset and do the right thing. "I didn't think you had it in you" as if every fight hadn't been a fight to the death up to that point in the aisles anyway. I'd use oppression from humans as an excuse, but Muffet is literally a cannibal who would eat her fellow monster if it was convenient for her and is singlehandedly the reason hotland's and core's Genocide route is possible in the main universe. I don't like Muffet, and Sans being preachy about it isn't working. He clearly picks and chooses who he wants to save and Chara clearly ain't on that list.
I like that he does at least do more to help in the ruthless route though. That was something I always held against him in the OG game. They clean up his act in that route, but sorta make him insufferable otherwise

Also I'd say they did a good job evacuating in geno, when they realized what was happening everyone in town hid, in waterfall I'm sure undyne evacuated the most she could, in hotland and core they had a lot of people inside the true lab, the only safe place in the only path from the beginning to the barrier, but couldn't evacuate the 40 monsters left because of Muffet, monsters are kind, they won't leave anyone behind, and u already mentioned what happened
That doesn't really answer my question. Because at least mid pacifist there's nothing for Chara to change for. He's all like "I didn't think you'd try to kill her" when he admits to assisting in manufacturing this false sense of danger himself. I'm not saying he should've let Muffet die, "A hero saves everyone, even the villains", I'm just saying that was entirely on him. He shouldn't have been surprised about it, and Muffet is still an awful person.

i was doing neutral and before sparing koffin decided to see what happens if you kill him. i tried to deal the final blow in some different scenarios (before and after checking on him) and sans still just picks him up but instead of "really?" says "miss me?", then the following dialogue is the same. honestly pretty sad this game doesnt give you many choices of who to kill or not...

Возможность загрузиться это ни разу не оправдание тому что я якобы должен пытаться быть паинькой и давать меня безнаказанно избивать
Я то могу пощадить, только пусть монстры для этого будут столь добры и свалят с моего пути по добру по здорову, а если пара тройка ударов не убедительны, то их смерть это их вина т.к уже было достаточно показано что монстры МОГУТ пощадить на низком хп когда им это захочется, включая мини боссов

overly long reasons why i think he is OP
1. Entirely untouchable. Sans in UT can't just stop time and place a cardboard cutout in front of him in the time it takes to attack!
2. Sans saves Muffet and Koffin K, but not Chara in either of these fights. Sans claims kids were watching during the second fight, and he just lets Chara die. What a hero, relying on powers he doesn't know exist. (He is lucky Chara can reset)
3. Isn't the human supposed to be stronger than EVERY SINGLE MONSTER COMBINED!? Sans easily tosses the human around in the start of the Ruthless fight. UT Sans doesn't instantly send you flying out of judgement hall, does he?
4. He has literally no weaknesses. UT Sans could tire out, Crossbones, however? Practically nothing until Ruthless, and even then he still put up the cutout at the end.
You can disagree with me, but I do in fact think that TS!Underswap Sans is OP. (I love literally everything else about the fangame, this is just a small issue to me)

I mean that's kind of always been the case with Sans, his fight is the hardest in Undertale for a reason. But in Undertale he's depressed, listless, and bound by a promise, so he has no interest in intervening, unlike Superhero Sans.

People keep talking about muffet part. Ok, lets get this straight. Muffet deal is to kill human to: 1. keep the bakery up. 2. sell his soul to "somebody" (probably temmie, but it doesnt matter). First of all, monsters still need one last soul to break the barrier, dont forget about undertale canon. every monster in undertale attack you to send your soul to asgore (toriel in ts!us). they literally HAVE to kill you no matter what. There is no toriel to ask sans to watch over child. there is a damn asgore who's friends with papyrus (like toriel friends with sans), thats why, basically, PAPYRUS has to be the one who watch over the child and NOT let muffet kill him. Noone asked SANS to defend the child.So if muffet kills chara, *BOOM* happy ending for monsters and freedom. Anyway, as sans says, he just wanted to see how chara actually act when she is attacked. Its just like trying to kill froggit at the start of ruined home. Asgore saves froggit (btw if you attack froggit poorly he wont actually defend him, just say that human is scared by froggit,and as i seen, weakest attack deals ~10 damage, which was half of froggit hp. Strongest attack could literally one shot froggit) and sans saves muffet from literal death.
Actually, not all monsters in Undertale can tell you're a human. The rabbit shopkeeper can't tell you're a human since in the pacifist epilogue, she says she heard a human was the reason they were free and says she'll give them a hero's welcome completely unaware that is you, Bratty and Catty are also unaware you're a human as they say they are totally hyped for the destruction of humanity and in the pacifist epilogue you can tell them you're a human they act suprised and claim that when they said they were hyped for the destruction of humanity, they were joking. Also, Burgerpants mentions that if Asgore gets one more soul, he will have a chance of achieving his dream of acting on the surface and given how desperate and unhinged Burgerpants is, he most likely doesn't know you're a human or he would probably try to tear your soul out himself or something like that.

I Honestly wouldn't be surprised, as you never really level Up your LOVE and fighting is not really making your fights easier. (In fact, crossbone's fight is harder if you attack as ACTing actually helps you survive)
I know the greasers are just like the enemies in Deltarune,mettacrit might count though but possibly not and depending on how Larry and Harry work you probably can't if it's like the genocide route

if you fight mettacrit at the right time it doesnt end pacifist, when he's hinting at you to give him a twist, the twist can be you "killing" him which ends the fight sooner but also acts as a spare

As far as I know, fighting them in pacifist just results in knocking them out no matter how hard you try. I got that in my pacifist playthrough. Im 99 percent sure you cant betray kill them in that fight, since the fight doesn't even end with a prompt to spare

I think it’s a really ambitious project for choosing to use almost exclusively original characters outside of flower Asgore and Tori
Also, flower wanted to go straight to Asgore and so did clover up till the wild East I’d argue by comparison Chara in under swap, at least, form my reading, seems more compelled by the player to move forward, then by their own volition therefore, having more time for what I’d consider smelling the roses(ie sticking around and hanging out)
While Chara in TS under swap fell down for unclear reasons, and the same with Frisk in UT clover actually had a mission
This can be seen in all routes, however, only in the genocide route is it completed in all others clover has priorities change choosing to give up their soul, finally confront Asgore or stay in the underground

*muffet:* if this is done on neutral or late evacuation (started in starlight isles), sans and papyrus will know you're a threat to muffet and see if you can change. if you don't, you're left alone in the room with sans. he goes dark in the eyes and says "get out of here", you're teleported outside and can't interact with muffet any further
*harry and larry:* if you attack and defeat them, they'll be knocked unconscious and the fight will end in koffin's room rather than outdoors. when one falls, the other will attempt to avenge them unless you turned them against one another beforehand, in which they'll start laughing
*koffin-k:* actually a really in-depth fight when it comes to endings. i believe your result was from having attacked muffet before. if you're on true compassion and attack koffin, sans will ask what exactly that was supposed to be, then drop the question and proceed normally. i'm not sure of the nature behind this, but i did a max exp non-evacuation neutral run and *didn't* betray koffin, attacked upfront. he actually realized that i was trying to kill him and was in shock. sans put him away and had a speech about how there were children on the crowl jewel watching the fight. koffin's character sheet changed to "status: protected" and ended with "that last look he gave me...". out of curiosity i got a game over in the crossbones fight as that's the only way to see him again (can't date sans on neutral), unfortunately they didn't account for that
if you try to kill koffin K without trying to kill muffet, the dialogue will be a lil different. Crossbones says "What was that" but not in charachter(the voice is sans' not crossbones') Koffin would comically say "what was what" and it's the same after that
If you could talk during this scene id just say: i mildly dislike spiders
hmmm i dont know, this level of dialogue needs some rework. Sans's logic doesnt make sense here, Muffet *did* tried to kill us, Self Defense is everything important at this point, even if it costs their own death

UTY tries to stick with the original vision of undertale as close as possible, which makes it also inherit all the...restrictions
TSUS is an independent from original. It has all the freedoms to innovate and add whatever new cool gimmicks it wants, which might (debatably for some) make it a whole lot better
@peeka_ in case you don't know, TS!US made with the idea of turning Underswap and making characters behave more like their real Undertale counterparts. In other words, TS!US tries to stay as close to Undertale's character writing as possible. Sans is the best example of this.
UTY tried to stay away from reusing Undertale content for the record.
@@aquatix5273 I meant it in the production quality side of things. I am fully aware that TSUS is sticking to the original writing.
Also, i said UTY sticks to VISION of Undertale. The intentional clunkiness in certain parts to fit right in with the original undertale (which IS NOT bad in any way btw) when compared side by side (Although in some parts the art quality is noticeably better than Undertale, but nevertheless)

@@fartmaster6977 This video? He intervenes when you're about to kill muffet, and judges you for it, but when she kills you, he does nothing. That's a unique interaction to non-evacuation neutral, which is a run hardly anyone ever does.
