This fight really makes it feel like we're actually murdering people rather than just doing the usual rpg violence that we're used to and its so much more unsettling. The fact the ost for this fight also has the "A Special Feeling" Motif just adds another layer of "Oh god this is terrible."
Just the whole sequence with these two from them being desperate to push the piano and being spareable all the time until you kill one of them is really just such a gut punch
I almost wanted to abort the route when i saw the "push" act even more after ending the fight
Considering the name of the "track" (if you can even call it that) that plays right before we battle Harry & Larry is called "Ruthlessness" really sets in the fact that this isn't just a normal genocide route, which just makes it even more unnerving.
The attacks also play into that. No longer is the duo just messing around with you, even throwing healing attacks just to help. No, instead they're actively throwing everything they got, yanking bombs, trying to get you a bite with no hp recovery possibilities, or even just tossing bomb cakes which were clearly not made to be tossed that hard, further reinforcing the idea that this is all they got and they're actively trying their best to actually kill you, because they know how dangerous you are.
I'm pretty sure the original undertale tries to tell you the same message
@@Cubicflow Yeah but after a while of doing the same quick-time-event attacks that make the monsters just kind of fade away you kind of become numb to it and don't think about it much. The killing method here just feels more "real" I guess.
There’s something so sad and disturbing about seeing Harry not even flinch when you deal the killing blow against him. It’s like pushing Larry sucked the will to live completely out of him. Chills, dude
That PLUS the fact that, that is the only moment in the fight when he isn't spareble. He wants you to kill him at this Point.
Actually this might be not true. Larry might ve survived that fall(Sans could ve saved him) + in the menu it only counts as.one kill .

God, this one REALLY got to me. Everything from having to choose to chase after them, to having to repeatedly select “Forward,” to that haunting fucking _scream_ as Larry goes over the edge. I was actually shaken up after this fight. Good _god,_ this route makes it feel like you’re really murdering people.
I actually was in shock of how brutal that was, we never have killed anyone in such a way before in Undertale games, this made me want to abort it and reset immediately 😢
i actually did abort when i got to this fight, but after getting the evac route, i decided to reload to my save point before muffet and do genocide
The moment Larry notices that his goofy antics doomed them both breaks my heart.
this is the most dark fight i ever seen in genocide, cause Larry getting pushed off the mountain leaving harry to depressed and die by chara
Yea this truly shows us who is the real villain there not them and not chara it's we a player because later when chara is about taking a nap she in dream says to a someone to leave her alone and it's she for sure said it to us she just begs us to stop being ruthless villain
@@user-cp9jk4jm5r yeah basically we’re pretty evil for a person compared to undertale chara

Not gonna lie i almost choked at the push scene
I usually get sad or cry a bit whenever there’s a genocide related thing of undertale/au, but this genuinely left me shocked jaw dropped and mortified. I sat there staring into the abyss probably like how Larry felt. Genuinely so messed up bone chilling how creatively messed up it is
Undertale: Basically taking RPG grinding to an extreme
Deltarune: Similar, but you have to get creative with it
This: LITERAL MURDER BY PUSHING SOMEONE OFF A CLIFF THEN KILLING THE OTHER ONE WHILE HE IS MOURNING.
Is it bad that my first thought when seeing that was "Do I still get the exp for Larry?"
I mean, you still kill him, throwing him off a cliff doesnt affect anything, i did ask myself if i would get exp after Crossbones put a cardboard cutout in front of me to escape (by the way it gave 50 exp)
@@Roman-ik3cf But if you check your stats (at least that’s what I’ve heard), it only shows one kill. Which could mean that Larry likely survived by grabbing onto something but Harry couldn’t see him anymore through the fog. There was also no loud boom sound.
this fucking monster tried to spare harry after killing larry

You aren't even required to fight them.
You can spare them for the *ENTIRE* battle until you push Larry off the Cliff.

Imagine that when we spare Harry and leave the scene, when we return, Harry is no longer there.
@pollo4210
This was also my idea too, and there's a dialogue if you went to the edge of a cliff, it's not directly stated, but hinting that harry jumped to his death too.
Imagine how messed up it would be being able to spare harry after killing larry
I'm not sure if this is the one they mentioned but this is the one I found.

I had to take an actual mental break after killing them, it was just *that* hard hitting. Not Undertale nor any fan-game has made me feel so regretful for choosing genocide before these two came along
very curious what happens if you
- back off from them in the beginning
- spare them as the fight starts
- kill one, spare the other after
-if you back off nothing really special happens and you can still decide fight them or not
-if you spare them you abort the route
-and you can't spare one of them after killing the other
easily my favorite moment of the route (beside you-know-who's fight as per usual). it's so well made and so grim
Okay that's FUCKED UP.
If you check Harry, it'll say "Quick on his feet"
But he wasnt fast enough to catch Larry before he fell off the edge
LET THAT SINK IN
Idk if Obliteration route or Underswap Genocide makes me feel worse now
Well, you kill two children and a classmate of yours in Obliteration, so I'd say that one's marginally worse.
The snowdrake you killed in underfell isn't your classmate and obliteration route isn't as bad as this one, In TS Underswap ruthless route you reduce the population of ruined home to pieces leaving almost no lives and leaving the city in dust and shambles and you kill a happily married couple and destroy an attempt by the leader of spiders to bring back the spiders together by ruthlessly killing muffet, and putting the underground into a big state of depression and having to make somebody watch their friend fall to death and then decide to give up on their knees and die@@randomsomeone7771
@@randomsomeone7771Also killing Sans and the only person willing to care for ruined home
I feel like obliteration route feels just too non serious after the demo phase of section 3. Like they throw all care for dead monsters out the window
@@gamercentral2417 That's called numbness. It's literally what having more LV does to you. As stated by Sans, 'The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others." It literally means that that more you kill, the more emotionless you feel to killing more.
Even flowey while he yes didnt try to tell you what to do he did remind you they cant stop you
This was the saddest part of this section...
When I first played this, I thought Push would just get rid of Larry's snacks so he can't heal Harry anymore. But like, no, fuck man, no other words but this has to be the darkest death in any UT game. For the sole fact of how we kill with an Act rather than the fight makes it feel like this is something we are choosing to do, we committed an act of murder. And Harry just giving up is really more bittersweet to me. As yeah, it is completely heartbreaking just watching him fall to his knees and not even want your mercy. It also shows how much he wants to be with his friend, he could live on and mourn Larry if you gave Mercy or he beat you. But no, all he wants is to be with his best friend...even in death. Does that make it darker or add a bit of sweetness to it, I honestly can't tell.
One last thing, this sole death made this my favorite Geno Route. As again, the fact that you use an ACT to kill instead of the Fight Command makes it feel more like you are commiting an act of violence. If the constant oppurtunist to back out and spare, and the discouragement with the intentionally annoying gimmick of them healing each other constantly wasn't enough to make it clear that you really shouldn't do this, I don't what would.
Jesus fucking christ this outclasses the Axis fight by so much☹️☹️
Blasting a fucking hole in ALIVE robot, splitting him into a two parts leaving corpse behind or pushing fatty off the cliff?
Yeah, pushing one off a Cliff then killing the other while they are in shock Is brutal, but AXIS Is one of the only kills in the undertale community fangames to leave an actual corpse after the fact
Plus the one wire that keeps its head from falling apart like a banana peel makes it a slight bit More brutal
IMO I didn’t really like UTY geno that much, this outclasses it by miles
@@TheNormal_Guy yeah in UTY it looks like everyone that you met (after genociding snowdin) seems to not get scared. actually the saddest Genocide route scene i have ever done in a Undertale game. lil' furry man was just depressed.... total silence can speak much more than words
I Feel like after larry dies
Harry's description should have changed to "Quick to defeat"
Or something like that
"But it...
It don't gots a soul"
The whole thing was 100% pointing out that youre a cold blooded killer
I feel like push here is kinda like Snowgrave.
The fight makes me sad since I actually like them.
When they’re pushing the piano, that’s the part that kind of scares me. I think the increasing fear on both of them, as Larry tries his hardest to push the piano away, and how the music, just distorts more as they become even more desperate to escape as you walk closer to them.
Am i the only who got sad and eerie feeling after we push him down
Just realise: everything was stopping you from killing them, until the Larry's death. Names were yellow the whole fight, which means you shouldn't have killed them
I ended up quitting my Genocide route just because of killing these two. It made me feel like too much of a monster.
Imagine if toby did something familiar to it in the future chapters of deltarune that really would unexpected and dark for a weird route
@@xholoxc014 yea but we never forced her to something like that i mean freezing someone is other thing while pushing someone right at the cliff is absolutely different way of killing because that method makes you feel what you kill the enemy like a last rat just for the making his friend to lose a will for mercy and backstab him while he is fully broken inside snowgrave is not really close enough for that such ruthless method of killing that's why i think what Toby would add something familiar to this in future chapters
imagine if we could spare larry here. we would get another trial by furry later
This is genuinely the time where I really felt goosebumps when going through this route. Jesus Christ...
After Larry was pushed off, Harry doesn’t even feel rage, or feel more intent on killing you, he just gives up, what’s the point if he beats you anyway? He’d rather join Larry
I was genuinely shocked when Larry was pushed off the ledge when I played through the fight, and to just see Harry like that afterwards.....
man.
I thought this was a fakeout battle you couldn't win. Boy was I surprised.
The forward thing made me remember snowgrave incident
Genocide was my first playthrough and despite only knowing them for 30 minutes, this was probably one of the most regrettable genocide kills I'd ever done. Fair play Team Switched!
Imagine if you could "spare" harry, just letting him live, as it would be worse than killing him, and have him still end up dying
Imagine sparing Harry after pushing Larry, like “why? Why do I get to live?” that’d be even worse!
The only time where the player dying is actually funny
For me I was close to leveling up so I had another reason to go after them since I knew about the crossbones fight
It also made the scene more disturbing in retrospect as I wasn't just going for a kill that was out of the way, I was trying to get stronger
Imagine Harry and Larry finding each other in the afterlife.
Im gonna be honest, i wanted to see if i could flee after pushing larry because i was terrified there would be a phase 2.
No option to though

I have a feeling Larry isn't actually dead and he's going to come back
What happens if we Back Off? Like... I really want to see all abort dialogues.

What if Larry survived and he is going to get revenge later on in this route?

Y'see, in undertale. When selecting a choice, the right choice aka the one you should use, the one that's canon. It's on the left side. However in genocide, the right (pacifistic) choice is on the right side.
So...Why here...The devs put the Back away option trice and as the correct choice..?
Does that mean something?
My guess is that they did it so that you have to purposely choose to go forward. It gives you time after time to go back and stop, yet you choose to keep going and kill them.
"When selecting a choice, the right choice aka the one you should use, the one that's canon. It's on the left side."
Nope. To exit the ruins and progress the game, you have to pick the option on the right ("How to exit the ruins", "When can I go home") in the original Undertale when talking to Toriel. The options on the left are all disinterested options like "Cool" "Yeah" etc. indicating that they're the wrong options.
