I picked up a 06' Santa Cruz Chameleon for $500 and man even though it's not a new bike and its in need of a lot of love, I'm enjoying every bit of rebuilding and bringing back to life an old bike
The golden rule is like this : If the frame is sound , then it is fixable . That FSR is a great bike , worth upgrading even if you do it little by little and getting her into mountain biking , priceless . Where is that at , Ireland ?
@22:45 tight that back wheel 😉 bought a similar one, a stumpjumper 2010 during lockdown, a bit of maintenance, changed the grips, saddle, replaced the 3 chainrings with just 1 and removed the front derrailleur. Great bike so far
I got a steal of a deal on a 2014 Rocky Mountain thunderbolt 710 for 625 bucks lol the bikes in excellent condition and nothing needs to be replaced. I think I got a deal of a million
Good job on the build 👍 those Specialized Pitch mtbs were really great! I actually really wanted one back in the day and would still love to rock one now! But yeah man rock it until it breaks! I still ride my 2011 Giant Trance all the time. I’ve upgraded every TJ I get and it just keeps going. Same thing with this pitch, keep it up and it’ll keep moving. Dropper post would make a huge difference, PNW are fairly inexpensive and really solid!
I picked up a 2011 ibis mojo carbon full suspension for £480 had fox 32 forks hope hubs front and rear shimano Deore brakes stans tubeless wheelset and amazing xfusion rear shock sold it a couple months later for £800
I got a 2016 Cannondale Habit 5 for 550 and it cost £2300 new. I got a crazy good deal nothing wrong with it i brought it home took it apart it was perfect.
I like that you’ve shown that even the old bike is able to have new life…. However… I’ve got some advice for the build ..you should tighten the “plastic screw” into that Deore crank shaft firstly, and then tighten screws on the crank arm to lock It in place….. (truvativ also used to make these cranks with selfextracting bolt…. unfortunately that’s missing on the original firex cranks that came with that bike)…
This bike is turning into a bit of a project bike, I'll have more videos coming soon with some more upgrades. There may be a canecreek part in this bikes future...
The pitch fsr was one of the best bike I ever have I have 3 pitch frames from 2009 to 2017 that frame was ahead of that time it was slack long and low pretty much like the today bikes, remember how good the bike climb and decend so versatile you can build like and agresive XC or all mountain bike, I have the best times in the pitch
How should aluminium rust and the rear shox is called "x-fusion" not fusionx and i would put a narrow wide chainrig up front and shorten the chain so that the chain is not ratteling around
You're absolutely right, aluminium doesn't rust! I shouldn't have said that. The chain ring I put up front actually is a narrow wide, does an ok job of holding the chain on. I've since removed a few links and added a chain guide and things have gotten more quiet while riding and get no dropped chains anymore. Still a decent amount of chain slap without a clutch derailleur though. Also my bad on the xfusion thing! I knew of the brand but always called it fusion X 😅
Honestly, not a bad deal at all. X fusion makes some decent mid range stuff so, if it's not blown, I'd leave that unless you find a killer deal on some higher end rockshox or fox shock. The Sram components are decent. Again, mid range. By the way, X-5, X-7 and X-9 are the model like Shimano has SLX, XT and XTR stuff. The higher the number, the better the component. I'd leave the azonic stem (not sonic), but I'd replace the bars. Crusty for carbon and I wouldn't trust them. Slap a box components 1x system on there (can be found for cheap on ebay) and you'd have a decent ride. I don't buy new bikes and haven't for a while. I'd rather build it to my preference and you can, almost, always find good second hand parts.
Ah thanks for the correction! The stem was a bit marked and I read it as sonic. Also yeah the handle bars will be going in the future, you're right they are crusty and they're too small for me. My previous bike had 780mm bars and these are about 720mm. I feel unstable on them at speed as I'm quite tall. I'll likely go back to alu bars as for this bike I don't see the value in carbon bars considering the price difference.
Hello. I have a decision to make, perhaps you could assist: I need to choose one of these 2 options as my next MTB: Option 1: used canyon lux (2016 model carbon fiber, sram xx1, 11x1) condition "ok". Option 2: New Polygon T7. Both options are at the same price. The reason that I'm considering the polygon is that I am worried that the 6 year old xx1 might get too old, and to fix it would cost a fortune. Can anyone please give me some tips what should I do? I ride mostly XC. I will appreciate your input very much!
I think it was. Still riding the bike in more recent vids. The biggest draw back is the rear shock. It can be unwieldy and bouncy but I live with it. The seat is grand for a 10 euro budget option but you could probably do better! It's comfortable and I can get down behind it without it catching on my legs. I have a follow up video on this were I test out the bike at Slade Valley.
Guide price on that bike should be no more than £400/446 Euro, and it's a 2008/09 model. Plus the fact the condition the bike is in should of bought the price down even more.
Yes, yes, yes, 1000x yes, just don't go in with too high expectations. All my second hand bike were amazing, never bought a secondhand bike for more than 200€, out of 4, 3 of them never let me down, finally my luck has run out and lately bought a DJ and yes some stuff is wrong but, what do you expect with sub 200€ Now I have a grand spanking new bike, so my girlfriend now uses my old one
It was advertised for 600 but I got it for 500, but you're absolutely right, at the time this was the cheapest (decent) full suspension I could find. Covid has made the second hand market much more expensive. It was also in the middle of summer when everyone was looking for a bike, basically the worst time to buy!
Man, that Pitch is a beauty and a real beast on the trails. And that blue color, just love it. The price is a steal. Well done!

Aye I noticed that after in the vid. Don't worry it was fully tight on the trail 😅 it's a surprisingly modern feeling frame for the age isn't it!
you are my hero... work on the parquet .... this is love!!
the rear shock is x fusion, quite a common brand for suspension

Love that build. Thank you for this video.
Awsome video. Made me subscribe. Need more of these videoes...
I needed a spare bike so I bought a used full suspension Gary Fisher from my local bike shop, it was the owners personal bike and it's awesome
So I ended up getting almost the same bike. I got a fsr xc expert. And you helped Me get my crank off with out the puller. Thank you.
Great enjoyable video. Love the editing. Keep it up man :)
@06:35 hmmm looks like some sort of fork thing

Be happy what you have ✌️
Looks like a solid bike , could do with some modernisation like a dropper , one by drivetrain and the removal of that sram derailleur and shifter .

@@crog4389 cane creek are a brilliant choice highly recommend
U have just gained a subscriber I love the build and I am looking at a calibre bossnut to do a budget build on

Thanks very much!

I like to over grease it to before I put it in

Last year I bought 2016 giant stance for 500 dlls , and only change from 2x9 to 1x11 and new tires

an 11-40tooth 9 speed cassette would only set you back £30 or less if you look in the right places
Sure those jockie wheels aren't worn ?
You have been had dude.
Tell me more? I found one in better but not best condition. Is it crap for $400
@@nunyabusiness3082 let's just say you could have did a lot better
Those jockey wheels definitely need replaced. That's not a good price for the bike IMO
Nice
Just got a 2016 Voodoo Canzo for 300 quid!
