- As China’s role on the global stage grows, so does interest in the country’s culture and language. That’s a trend that has led to the Chinese Bridge - a competition for international students of Mandarin Chinese. This year, Mexico is sending a prodigy, as CGTN’s Alasdair Baverstock reports.

With 4 languages skills, she could be a translator or be diplomat for Mexico. Talented girl 👧 Her future is bright.
And now President. There’s precedent now.
Many Uber Drivers speak 4 languages...
Well-done young girl. That is very impressive to have acquired 4 languages by the age of 10 years.
_Youngness_ does help a bit for acquiring languages.
I taught Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language for 41 years. This young student is right in saying that it helps to exaggerate the tones at first when learning them. What's most difficult for a non-native speaker who learns the tones is controlling them and pronouncing them correctly in a long spoken sentence when speaking at a normal pace, something this girl does not always do yet, although she is close to reaching this goal. This young lady has made impressive leaps in speaking skills given her age and original language! She is quite admirable.
It's not that she knows mandarin that is amazing. It's that she knows 4 languages.
It's impressive for Mexico. But if she was European with parents from two different countries and maybe living in a different one (which happens a lot), it's normal.
No, the fact that she knows mandarin is amazing. Learning Mandarin alone is more of an achievement than Spanish, English and Portuguese combined.
It’s not that she knows 4 languages- it’s that she’s made in the image of God!
@@mark9294Spanish is harder than mandarin lol
To bad she's learning her Mandarin from people who come from or were taught in countries that didn't natively all speak mandarin.
A young woman has a great talent for the 4 languages and Mandarin Chinese, it is impressive
Oh come on!!! For a 10 year old... a young girl I will say!!!

Very impressive... Learning Mandarin isnt easy..
Indeed it isn’t. I really struggle with the pronunciation.
Mandarin is hard, you should love the culture.

I am a proud Chinese person and I speak Mandarin. So naturally, I say learning Mandarin is not as difficult as any other languages. The truth is it's not all that hard to learn anything when you're young. I wish the lovely little princess success in life. ❤
I don’t speak mandarin but my native language speaks a sub-dialect similar to mandarin and we even share some words. It’s pretty easy for me but I understand it ain’t for others.
This is a cool blend of cultures.
Incredible Frida, congratulations for all your effort. You are a wonderful girl. Follow along and strong!!
Talented young woman. She has a bright future ahead of her.
10 year old... a young *woman* ... oh pls. young girl!!!!
Cuteness overloaded! Hanfu is most suitable for people with dark straight long hair.
Impressive. She's only 10 years old, what else can that beautiful smart lady will achieve and accomplish for years to come! I bet the parents are proud. 👍🏻
She will have a bright future. She has her pick to do anything she wishes. No limits with this one.
Pretty freaking awesome!!! Congrats to her and her family!
Future ambassador .good job, young girl
WOW👏🏻🇲🇽
At 10 i was still learning one language 😂
I also study at Confucio's institute here in Brazil. 😮
So Sweet !!!
Smart young lady .
That’s a Very talented little girl she has a bright future ahead of her, also I noticed She has a Native American last name which is now a rarity in Mexico I would if she’s fluent in Nahuatl as well.
Felicidades a esa pequeña tan inteligente ❤️👍🇲🇽
When I first worked in China 25 years ago, there was a couple in Yunnan's Dali working on the ethnic Bai language. Their little boy was only about 5 at the time but he spoke English (dad) Italian (mum), Bai (because he played with the village kids and Mandarin (because he got it at school) - all fluently for his age. I always wonder what he does now.
what did his parent do for a living?
@@bevs9995 They were putting together a dictionary for the ethnic Bai people. They were fluent Chinese speakers, and had also learned Bai, so, although Bai was a spoken language, it had as yet no dictionary, so they were living and working to create one.
Outstanding 😊
Super bien que hagan algo util en su tiempo libre
People around the world are very different from each other and very special! Some are all the same and some are different!! We have countries and languages and cultures and more!!
en el caso de la niña es un genio, es superdotada. Felicidades a ella.

One word, smart.😊
Amazing Frida! I bet your parents got your name from Frida Kahlo!
I’m more inspired to learn diligently about Chinese culture and mandarin! ❤ from the Philippines
She should get scholarship to study in China
No, she should not be exposed to racist Chinese at such a young age
Saludos de Brasil!
She can talk w 90% of the people in the world.
VAMOS MEXCIO!!!
Smart kid
Little Chinese are all over …
Make Mexico Great!
The speaking ability and vocabulary are both highly proficient, but you can still hear a non-native accent.
I mean, she is 10 years old.
At that age, people are usually not that sensitive to the sounds of language anymore. They are more established in their own native language.
I mean you’ll most likely have an accent speaking a language u didn’t grow up speaking/ hearing lol
I am a Chinese descendent. I can't speak English the way the natives do. I have even given up pronouncing English words according to phonetic symbols. English is inconsistent.
It's hard but I will keep learning this incredible language .🥰

Cute
Meanwhile In america they are Proud of their monolinguism 🤣
In America they are actually losing their native language 😂 and becoming "no sabo" kids
In America they only want you speaking Murican. 🤣
@@BARDOCK550 The majority of them are ashamed where they came from and consider themselves American.
I’m an American (both of my parents are Mexican). I speak Spanish and English fluently, Portuguese at an advanced level, and thinking about learning other languages as well. 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Very beautiful
when you're very young a kid, you can easily learn different language, as you get older, it gets harder.
also, the thing is, if you don’t use it often, you will lose it

You just wrote something nobody has ever thought of or said! You can keep that one to yourself.
I hope we can get a Chinese (Mandarin) speaker here to tell us how fluently she is.
I'm not a native speaker, but I've been learning it for 18 years. Her pronunciation is quite good, she has a good grasp of the tones.
@@tn18977 As long as you speak it fluently and able to distinguish between terrible and good.
Native speaker here. The bits of her speaking that we see here are likely rehearsed, and therefore not an accurate indicator of her actual conversational abilities. The delivery of those lines though, was commendable -- she was mostly clear, confident, and the words flowed. However, sorry to be harsh, but her 4 tones still require much work, and it was surreal to hear the narrator's high praise on this point specifically. Of course, I understand she's just a child. Her efforts are still awesome and may she continue to reach new heights in her learning endeavors.
@mus14k19 it's your English better than her Mandarin?
@@A.I.WarFare1947 Is my English better than her Mandarin? I do speak English at the native speaker's level, and as an adult, I don't think this is a meaningful comparison. If she can truly freely converse on any (or, at least, many) topics and form correct sentences to adequately express her own thoughts, then that would be considered fluency, even if pronunciation is lacking. However, if she is mostly reciting sentences that she has practiced and memorized, then that is not true fluency. (But why are we even expecting fluency of a 10-year-old?) To be clear, memorizing and repeating lines is a foundational step in learning any language and should be respected as such -- that's how all babies and toddlers start learning to speak too! In the earlier stages, these memorized lines seem like crutches, but as she continues to learn, they will turn into building blocks for her own sentences, then just pieces of building blocks, then fully internalized as her own one day, hopefully. She's on the right track and good for her.
If she really wants to impress people, learn to sing songs by Dao Lang.
...or Mao Buyi❤😂
Saludos desde Florida
I think that was stupid how they muted her speaking Chinese halfway instead of just putting translated subtitles on the bottom. There’s people who can speak Chinese and would love to hear her speak it! That’s the whole point of this segment is showing off her language abilities yet you blurted it out! Wtf!
Let's do a voice over over a video ABOUT LANGUAGES. Idiocy.
🥰😍
yo quiero aprender chino, pero está muuuuuuuuy dificil, y mas con mi personalidad, no soy alguien que haga amigos facil ni quien tenga facilidad de palabra
i'm embarrased that i'm chinese and don't even know how to speak chinese.
This is really impressive, she learned 4 languages in an few years. A Spanish speaker would need 4 years to learn English, 2.5 years to learn Portuguese, For Chinese at least 6 years to get to some decent level.
Amazing but she could work on her accent, it is extremely apparent and harsh. Not hating, just saying there's room for improvement and she deserves to get some teachers to help with that
Thanks for the advice🙏
Shes like 3 years old bro. Your criticism is unneeded
i didnt see any diapers on her bro
I hope you learn to be happy with yourself. Feeling the need to bring up such irrelevant, unprovoked comments especially toward someone much younger than you… god. She’s doing amazing and she will only get better.
i agree! 😊
HONGKONG FREEDOM COUNTY NO FACEBOOK 🤬🤬😡
At last a Chinese county free of facebook❤😂😂
She speaks with an accent. It's not that impressive.
Learning the language of a country that won't ever like you.
That's stereotyping
What on earth are you talking about?
Please protect her from Cartel 😢
Why the cartel would be after her ? The cartel never go after civilians only against rivals ... that's it
