“way less sad” made me cry the first time it came on my radio. for me, it summed up something i’ve been feeling for a long time now as i learn to live with my mental illnesses and neurological issues in a healthier way. like- people keep asking how i am and it’s always hard to explain that i’m better but better doesn’t mean good yet? but i’m still proud of how far i’ve come. and now i can just turn to that. “i’m not happy yet, but i’m way less sad.”
"Dear Winter" has been hitting me very differently after my dad passed away in January, because my dad /was/ the one that taught me how to curse (much to my mother's chagrin), and he liked sending me "love you have a good day" texts whenever I went to school, and he always asked me about my day whenever he started picking me up from college. We'd compare music tastes (his music being where I picked up a good chunk of the curse words in my vocabulary), and I'd ask him about history stuff or whatever show he was watching, and he was always willing to hear me out after an argument and I had time to cool down. My mom might have chosen my name, but my dad was who I went to when kids made fun of it and called me Amanda and Armada on purpose. I hate that I can't remember if I shared "Dear Winter" with him or not. He was the one who taught me and my brothers how to show someone you love them, because he loved everyone he met. When he was starting to get better, I promised myself I was going to come out to him, and that's still one of the things I regret not telling him. I really felt everything you were saying when you were talking about this song and your grandpa, Mr. Bill. Thanks for helping me remember all the fun times I had with my dad. ♡

Okay but when he said "as a child of divorces" I was like "I hope my play isnt next" this song makes me cry every time. I wasn't a child when my parents split up, but it still hurt.
I doubt anyone will see this or take the time to read it but I decided to put my hat in the ring. As an Aromantic person (someone who doesn't feel romantic attraction) both turning out one and two hit really close to home, I relate to it cause it's that feeling of being told hey you just haven't found the 'right one' yet and being like hey but don't you want to see how this ends. I love my friends and family but sometimes theirs a disconnect when romance is expected to form in some sort of way. It's interesting I suppose.
As an aroace, I feel the exact same way! Turning Out in particular just destroys me every time I listen to it, like it's putting my mess of emotions into something beautiful that I can hear echoed back to me. It also makes me remember a very specific moment in 9th grade, before I identified, where I was telling my best friend that I really had no idea the difference between romance and friendship, and we talked a little bit before settling on, it doesn't really matter right now but hopefully as I grow up I'll be able to figure myself out.
Same! The “this don’t feel like Disney” line is what hit me. Crushes always seemed like a hollywood thing to me. I assumed that since I wasn’t feeling it, it must not be real. I didn’t understand relationship drama and love songs and all of that. Then I experienced my one and only crush, and it was immediately denied when he got with a different girl. I finally got to see that crushes were a thing, but I never got that feeling again. I’m starting to accept that I don’t need that feeling to love. I still have doubts, but then I talk to my current BF and I feel better. I may not feel the same things he does, but that doesn’t make our love any less valid. So yeah. It doesn’t feel like Disney. It doesn’t have to.
Ok Orchestra was going to have a Turning Out Part 3, but Ryan, the writer of all the Turning Outs, realized he hadn’t had any serious developments in his love life like the ones that inspired the first 2 parts, and he didn’t want to force something less authentic just so OKO could have a part 3.
Seeing you react to My Play and knowing that you relate to it in a lot of the same ways I do feels so reassuring and validating right now. I'm 22 and am hitting that point in my life where thinking about my childhood isn't as much of a constant anymore, while still having a lot of feelings about it deep down. This song, especially the video, is the most accurate description of being a child in a divorcing family that I have EVER seen. It hits in such a guttural spot. Thank you for reacting to it, bud. Edit: dear god, I just got to the bit about how you felt during your graduation and that hits so hard for me. I've never been able to get over the absolute fear of even having both of my parents be in the same place, and that feeling was definitely a factor during my graduation too. It's a factor now when going to see my little brother's basketball games, and I've never been able to escape the need to go through an entire code-switch when going from one parent's house to another. During my graduation there was a lot going on, and it got to the point that I just wished one of my parents wouldn't even show up. Just, wow. I couldn't believe that I wasn't alone in having feelings like that about my graduation.
You're literally the combination of the three brothers, you have a great bear like Adam, you always use the same hat as Jack and you wear glasses like Ryan!

OK Orchestra was great. Some of my favorites from there are humpty dumpty, smallest violin, and ordinaryish people. One of my favorite ajr songs that you have to listen to is Netflix Trip, hands down one of my favorites. Have a nice day everyone!
IF you do a part 3 of reacting to AJR, react to Next Up Forever, Humpty Dumpty, Ordinaryish People and World Smallest Violin. Sadly there is no Turning Out Part 3, they wrote one at first but it didnt felt like a good part 3
Ok orchestra is so so good. You cant go wrong with any of the songs but my favorites are 3' o clock things, adventure is out there, christmas in june, world's smallest violin, and humpty dumpty.
Trying to stan Arctic Monkeys: -505 -I wanna be yours -Arabella -Why'd you only call me when your high? -Do I wanna know? -R U mine? -Fluorescent Adolescent -When the sun goes down -Pretty visitors
Agreed! A couple other Arctic Monkeys songs I suggest :) - If you Were There, Beware - One Point Perspective - The World’s First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip
Don't worry fam I cried listening to My Play too... It hits hard and honest. I love that no matter how upset the kid got the parents were never seen in the video.. kinda like a kid suffering and trying to get their parents' attention but still suffering alone
AJR has a unique ability to make songs that are usually about very specific feelings that still become very relatable. Their song “Don’t Throw Out My Legos” really hit me since I’m currently at that transition point in my life where I’m on the verge of moving out and being independent, but afraid to lose that safety net of home. I also really like “Humpty Dumpty” because its about bottling away your pain and putting on a smile so as not to burden others with your own problems. The last verse really punches you in the gut as you hear his voice almost break. There’s also “The Trick” which is about a pathological liar who is afraid of the person he loves most finding out all his lies. If you ever return to AJR, please listen to these!
I'd love it if you listened to The Orion Experience! Their songs tend to be a bit lighter than what you usually react to, but I think you could really enjoy The Cult of Dionysus, We Are The Ones and Heaven. Also, if you do more AJR, I recommend Wow, I'm Not Crazy! It was my introduction to the group and it's super great!
If you ever do a part three I recommend -Humpty Dumpty -worlds smallest violin -Christmas in June Those all have a deep meaning and I feel like with the kind of person you are you would love them Be sure to analyze the lyrics since they do go deeper than an egg and a violin!!
Hi Bill, I just wanted to comment saying I'm really grateful for how open you are about feeling your feelings and having us do it to. Currently sobbing because of this video but sometimes it's necessary, just like how much I didn't know I needed this video right now. Thank you for all of the in-depth, real and raw analysis you give of every artist you look into, it really means a lot that you care so much about seeking out new music and learning new things. It's really inspiring! Okay, I'm gonna go be a ball of happy and sad tears, but I really hope you have a good day and that 2021 is in your favor for new and bright things. Looking forward to your next video!
I'd really recommend AJR's newest album "The Maybe Man" if you were interested! It's some of the best stuff they've done, and the album as a whole is something to be experienced in order! Edit: If you do, the first song has a music video you should watch to introduce the album (Also Turning Out Pt. iii is on this album)
You really need to do a part 3 of this because the rest of Ok Orchastra is absolutely beautiful! All the songs are about very relatable topics, and are all very musically well made. My personal favorites of the album are Humpty Dumpty and 3 o clock things.
AH WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS!!! AJR is my favorite band and I love the way you dive into the meaning behind their songs, and the open emotion you show towards them!! If you ever plan to do a part 3, I highly recommend listening to their song "Finale (Can't Wait to See What You Do Next)" from their album Neotheater It is definitely not a popular song but it spoke to me the most. I won't give anything major away, but it's absolutely worth the listen, and I think it can be interpreted in more ways then one (be those similar ways) Also bonus songs: "3 O'Clock Things" "Next Up Forever" and "Pretender"
Yeah turning out pt.ii was sung by Ryan, the middle and he has a beautiful voice as well! Jack is the main singer and he has a lighter singing voice (he is the youngest) kind of showing how when you start a relationship you feel like all the problems will work out fine, and Ryan with a deeper voice (middle-age) showing the sort of giving up- ish sadness Also the album is really good I hope you get those10k likes!
OK ORCHESTRA is quite good (imo), in fact I think it's some of their best music! Would love to see you listen to some of it one of these days (take your time)!

YES SOMEONE ELSE BESIDE ME KNOWS ABOHT HAWAII: PT II The musician part of me is so in love with the entire album bc every aspect of it is INSANE: the concepts, the composition, the lyrics, etc.. I have legitimately rambled about Sweet Dreams in Sea Major _alone_ for over 2 HOURS
please please P L E A S E do more reactions to ajr!!! I feel like your reactions are way better than other people's. other people don't really go in-depth, but you do and lemme tell you. the parts where you talk about hard topics are one of the best parts of the video. please keep this up, and I wish the best!!!
Okay guys we have our mission 10k likes. I have too many words for this: "Turning Out" is one of my top 3 AJR faves for sure, I knew you'd love the animation but the song(s) itself is so good. Glad you watched Dear Winter & the others in with the new mix it's such a sweet song & it leaves so much of the non music videos for you to feel out later because every song they make is a different feeling & story. I love these guys, & SUUUPER enjoy watching the feels & insight but I definitely don't want Bill feeling bad feelings because of my favorite musics. That makes me feel guilty.😣 Not me balling my eyes out with Bill, during "My play".😭 I'm okay....but it's not okay? My heart just...👉💔👈 everytime I watch that video. Not a child of divorce, my parents were never together but my grandparents raised me & constantly needing that attention they were to tired to give, and wishing I had the "normal" family system. Spending tons of time inside my own head, & wondering why everyone is too busy to look at what I made. I'm super happy that you enjoyed "way less sad."🖤

@@thethirdbill you know what there is this really small band called saint motel which have some cool songs like move or my type definitely worth a check out
Thank you for replying and I appreciate that you already have most of them in mind. I honestly am pretty new to most of these artists so I'm not able to give good suggestions to encapsulate their vision as well. Maybe some other people in the comments can be more helpful!
If you ever do an AJR part 3 please include ok overture it made me cry in a really good way
Can you do trying to stan Peach Pit

thank you haha protect and look after yourself first though!
Bill: “As a child of divorces…”
Me: Then you should listen to My Play.
Bill. “Next up is My Play.”
Me: … *Honey, you’ve got a big storm coming.*
i am a simple person i see bill i click
:)
you should try listening to bill wurtz! he’s got a pretty original style, and i strongly recommend ^^
Bill Wurtz is great!!
Hell yeah he's great!! I always vibe with it
*The sun is a deadly laser*
Ok orchestra is so so good. You cant go wrong with any of the songs but my favorites are 3' o clock things, adventure is out there, christmas in june, world's smallest violin, and humpty dumpty.
Trying to stan Arctic Monkeys:
-505
-I wanna be yours
-Arabella
-Why'd you only call me when your high?
-Do I wanna know?
-R U mine?
-Fluorescent Adolescent
-When the sun goes down
-Pretty visitors
Agreed! A couple other Arctic Monkeys songs I suggest :)
- If you Were There, Beware
- One Point Perspective
- The World’s First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip
Don't worry fam I cried listening to My Play too... It hits hard and honest. I love that no matter how upset the kid got the parents were never seen in the video.. kinda like a kid suffering and trying to get their parents' attention but still suffering alone
THE ALBUM IS GREAT YOU GOTTA LISTEN ITS AMAZING
AJR is awesome I’m so glad you made a part 2 😊
AJR- How to feel sad and happy at the same time
IM ON THE MOON RIGHT NOW you have no clue how badly I wanted you to react to these other songs haha
I’m so glad you decided to listen to Ok Orchestra!
Still waiting on Set It Off though (when you want to of course 😊)
Yes!! Set It Off is so fun
I recommend songs by AJJ (yes this is a seperate group XD)
The album is pretty great. I genuinely think you'd love it, considering how much interesting stuff they do. Hope you're doing well, Bill!
You should also do “Of monsters and men”
-little talks
-king and lionheart
-Dirty paws
-mountain sounds
i have never clicked so fast
Fun fact: when Jack started yelling at the end of Dear Winter, it was because he started crying in the studio while he sang
If you ever do a part three I recommend
-Humpty Dumpty
-worlds smallest violin
-Christmas in June
Those all have a deep meaning and I feel like with the kind of person you are you would love them
Be sure to analyze the lyrics since they do go deeper than an egg and a violin!!
Me: Yay I'm so glad he liked Dear Winter it's one of my favorite songs!
Bill: Welcome to broadway it's time for My Play!
Me: Ohhhhh nooooooooooo
'oh no' has definitely been the theme here lately haha
Could you do a Trying to Stan Tally Hall?
-Welcome to Tally Hall
-&
-Haiku
-Banana Man
-Turn the Lights Off
Bill: talks about divorce
Me: oh no,
Bill: and now my play
Me: NO GOD PLS NO, NO-
If you are gonna do a part three, I would really suggest “Christmas in june”, just an all around beautiful song and the closer of their latest album
Looking forward to your next video!
thank you so much! im so glad the video could help contribute something positive for you in some way! :)
Its very uncommon when I like every song in an album and Ok Orchestra is one of those rare albums that I love to death
If you ever plan to do a part 3, I highly recommend listening to their song "Finale (Can't Wait to See What You Do Next)" from their album Neotheater
It is definitely not a popular song but it spoke to me the most. I won't give anything major away, but it's absolutely worth the listen, and I think it can be interpreted in more ways then one (be those similar ways)
Also bonus songs: "3 O'Clock Things" "Next Up Forever" and "Pretender"
YAY MORE AJR
And I’m happy you reacted to My Play
It would also be awesome if you reacted to some of the songs in the new album especially the song 3 o’clock things
Hey, I’d suggest that you listen to NF. Some of his songs are: Mansion, Therapy session, how could you leave us, just like you
I really like No Name and Leave Me Alone
Hey you gave all the sad ones, I think intro 3, the search, and trust (ft tech nine I think)
You are so wholesome and positive rly love the vibes :3
Yeah turning out pt.ii was sung by Ryan, the middle and he has a beautiful voice as well!
Jack is the main singer and he has a lighter singing voice (he is the youngest) kind of showing how when you start a relationship you feel like all the problems will work out fine, and Ryan with a deeper voice (middle-age) showing the sort of giving up- ish sadness
Also the album is really good I hope you get those10k likes!
OK ORCHESTRA is quite good (imo), in fact I think it's some of their best music! Would love to see you listen to some of it one of these days (take your time)!
I'm very happy to have a part 2 to this

Yess Jon Bellion makes great music you should listen!
Turning Out pt. ii is how one of my boyfriends broke up with me a little over a year ago. It hurts but it’s amazing.
HI HI I think you’d really enjoy the album Hawaii: part ii it’s a wild ride aha but it’s absolutely stunning (edit) it deserves so much more recognition
If you don’t listen to the whole album you NEED to listen to the mind electric and dream sweet in sea major
@@catrinhosie377 aaaaa mind electric is soooo good
@@mielliv1606 aaaa I know! I’ve never heard anything like it
YES SOMEONE ELSE BESIDE ME KNOWS ABOHT HAWAII: PT II
The musician part of me is so in love with the entire album bc every aspect of it is INSANE: the concepts, the composition, the lyrics, etc.. I have legitimately rambled about Sweet Dreams in Sea Major _alone_ for over 2 HOURS
YES OMG
I love your reactions :) they're always so well thought out, respectful and genuine
Thank you 😊

Day one of asking for:
"Trying To Stan: Lemon Demon"
PLS I need to see his reaction of him so bad😫🙏
@@billbuttlicker1248 Wonder what his reaction to Two Trucks would be 😏
AAAHHHHHHH!!! MORE AJR!!!!
You’ve definitely got to do the whole album. The first verse of 3 O’ Clock things? It broke me.
I knew My Play would hurt you, but it’s so good
The bit from 11:14 - 11:25 sounded like the start of a movie and i am here for it
please please P L E A S E do more reactions to ajr!!! I feel like your reactions are way better than other people's. other people don't really go in-depth, but you do and lemme tell you. the parts where you talk about hard topics are one of the best parts of the video. please keep this up, and I wish the best!!!
Okay guys we have our mission 10k likes.
I have too many words for this:
"Turning Out" is one of my top 3 AJR faves for sure, I knew you'd love the animation but the song(s) itself is so good.
That makes me feel guilty.😣
Not me balling my eyes out with Bill, during "My play".😭
I'm okay....but it's not okay?
My heart just...👉💔👈 everytime I watch that video. Not a child of divorce, my parents were never together but my grandparents raised me & constantly needing that attention they were to tired to give, and wishing I had the "normal" family system.
Spending tons of time inside my own head, & wondering why everyone is too busy to look at what I made.
I'm super happy that you enjoyed "way less sad."🖤
Sup! You should try to stan Anson Seabra. Here are some song suggestions :)
-Emerald Eyes
-Trying My Best
-Unforgettable
-It’s Raining It’s Pouring (so good!)
-Walked Through Hel1
-Dawning of Spring
Anyone else, let me know if I missed any! I think you will really like him, his message is amazing. Have a great day!!
Broken is nice too, and I Can't Carry This Anymore.
Welcome to Wonderland and Superhero are also great
I’d hoped you’d listen to dear winter! It’s a beautiful song and I’m happy you enjoyed it!
I really recommend lemon demon btw: Touch-tone Telephone, Spiral of Ants, Sweet Bod, Cabinet Man, Redesign Your Logo, Eighth Wonder, When He Died, Mask Of My Own Face
I really like soft fuzzy man and ancient aliens
@@theguy9041 that’s extremely valid theyre so good 💖
Please do trying to stan Orla Gartland (More Like You, Pretending, Did it to Myself, Inevitable), The Altogether (See the Day, Sophie, History Read, Newton's First), or The Longest Johns (Got No Beard, Bones in the Ocean, Hoist Up the Thing, Ashes)
Dear Winter
"Welcome to Broadway bitches, it's time for My Play"
"Turning Out, the official video"
"And we're closing out the night with Turning Out pt., ii"
*good god, this man is in for an extremely sad roller-coaster*
(also yes, that was the R in AJR, Ryan sang Turning Out pt. ii)
You said “child of divorce” and I immediately thought:
Oh this is gonna be a ride if you listen to “My Play” and then you said the next song was “My Play.”
We cried together on that one.
Please try to Stan Jon Bellion!
Songs:
Conversations with my wife
Good things fall apart
Stupid deep
Morning in America
Guillotine
Cautionary Tales
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes clicked so fast :3 thank you for this! I was wondering if you’d do another ajr episode and I’m very happy that you have
Idk if people or new or not but just a reminder that Bill needs song suggestions not just artists, so if you’re giving tts suggestions try to include songs you like too :•)
comments about the video, or general kindness, are welcome too haha :)
@@thethirdbill yeah lol I just saw lots of people asking for artists without adding songs
This NEEDS a part 3! OK Orchestra album released some amazing songs that you need to listen too!
there was going to be a turning out part 3 but Ryan, the music writer and producer, said it didn’t feel right to have it in the new album
