The reason for why Johto suddenly had 3 seasons instead of the 1 previously is that because of the fact that Kanto was only 1 season there was no game to make season 2 out of so they made up the Orange Islands for Ash to travel through while Gold and Silver were being made, so when the finally could make the gen 2 anime they decided to stretch it out for 3 seasons so that Ruby and Sapphire could be made before the Johto anime ended.
Attack the Moon is ridiculous, but so is Obelisk the Tormentor being unaffected by other card effects, so Yugi aims the effect at the ground instead of Obelisk.
Actually many factors made the OG Whitney fight hard. whilst Machop was a good option, in the first generation of games karate chop was a normal type move and low kick was got at level 20, so you would think you need to grind Machop 4 to 7 levels to learn a fighting type move, so most people wouldn't have thought of using it, even though it did have a few fighting type moves in gen 2, however it was still likely to be out sped and stomped out.
Weirdly enough the games do have event Pokémon directly based on the anime and Pikachu is always Level 50 for some reason *except* Gen 7 where he was Level 80 after Ash became Champion.

As much as it's funny hearing people joke about Pikachu loosing to a level 5 Snivy, can we all remember that it was absolutely not level 5? There is only one way for Snivy to have Leaf Tornado - by being level 16. I want the calculations run for a level 16 Snivy to see how that goes, because a level 5 Snivy simply doesn't have Leaf Tornado.
I mean makes sense sort of, as zekrom was level 70(if going off bw2) So a 59 (at lowest) pickachu getting nuked by zekrom would leave it fairly low hp wise, but yeah thats about it, it does seem a bit sus
Nobody ever brings this up about That Unova/Black and White episode, But Pikachu Was being effected by Zekrom in that moment, he couldn't use his Electric Type Moves and it caught him heavily off Guard and that was why He lost Against that Snivy. Edit: Further into the Video They Bring This up lol

Snivy definitely wasn’t level 5, she had a previous owner that snivy abandoned cause she deemed them unworthy of training her, which makes me believe that maybe snivy was traded at high level to a new trainer (which in games makes the Pokémon ignore you hence why it makes sense she would just leave that trainer in the anime) It easily could put snivy at level 30+ for me And I’m unsure of the last move Ash has taught pikachu, but I feel at basically level 60 pikachu should have better moves than thunderbolt and iron tail, so it makes sense to me that pikachu could lose to a level 30 snivy

The Orange Island win was a thousand times more legitimate than the Alolan win. Ash won that league through blatant disregarding of the rules and blatant favoritism from the judges. The major problem with matpat's theory in the episode where we meet A.J it was suggested it was suggested that Ash had a 10 streak showing that Ash has battles off screen so it's entirely possible Pikachu is actually stronger than what Matt Pat gives him credit for simply because of this fact that Ash battles more than what we've seen in the anime. There's also the cases of montages where multiple battles happened back-to-back. How many Pokemon has Pikachu defeated or had participate in defeating that wasn't shown
I mean, if you want to be technical about it, his Charmander was a trade/gifted Pokémon from another trainer meaning it would gain EXP faster than a normally caught Mon and therefore level up/evolve faster.
In the Pokémon summer camp episode with the kid on the treadmill they do reference levels but other than that they don’t reference levels in the anime at all that I remember

I still think his theory on his level in Kanto is wrong. Simply because if you pay attention to atfer he fights Brock one of the moves he learns is thurderbolt which is learned at level 26 by Pikachu but as he says atfer that he doesn't fight many battles where he knocks out another trainers Pokemon. But if you also pay attention to when he is about to face Lt Surge for the second time in the anime Brock remarks that Lt says that he evolved his Raichu as soon as he got it good so it didn't learn moves like agility which we know Pikachu learns at level 33 we see in the second battle an through out that battle not only did Pikachu learn agility making him over level 33 he beats Raichu an uses the move over an over again through Kanto. So him being level 30 at the end of Kanto is kinda b.s to start with so his math is still gonna be off track going forward
Still say Pikachu should be 100 in Gen 5. In game terms. Dont use game XP to calculate anime battles. Run through 4 games with the same Pikachu on your team, thats his Pikachu's level
I say for the likes of snivey or challenging early Pokémon, maybe they were training and are on a higher level compared to game logic. Snivey is just training with the other Pokémon at the lab so he can start off strong.
It’s so funny how in the theory the guy says he’s not gonna let anime logic get in the way for him on how Pikachu beat ditto and Dragonite and just let’s it slide, when this whole video is based on a Snivy that should’ve been much weaker than Ash’s Pikachu.

My theory is that in that battle against snivy, pikachu received huge recoil damage each time he tried to use an electric move.
He was looking fatigued after the failed moves, so yeah, I think Zekron thing did more than just lock Pikachu out of electric attacks.
What I think is that the Snivy Trip got wasn't a level 5 Snivy, I mean, WHAT LEVEL 5 SNIVY HAS LEAF TORNADO!! That thing was probably above level 10.

Pikachu is a paradox Pokémon, with either ice or grass to keep taking out all those rock/ground types so easily.
Snivy gets leaf storm at level 43 and it isn't an egg move so it's not that hard to imagine Pikachu losing to a level 43 pokemon
Pikachu didn't loose to a A level 43 snivy, HE LOST TO A LEVEL 43 SNIVY ON STEROIDS

Its not uncommon for people to keep thunderbolt over the much less accurate Thunder. And Iron Tail is Iconic to ash’s pikachu

The major problem with matpat's theory in the episode where we meet A.J it was suggested it was suggested that Ash had a 10 streak showing that Ash has battles off screen so it's entirely possible Pikachu is actually stronger than what Matt Pat gives him credit for simply because of this fact that Ash battles more than what we've seen in the anime. There's also the cases of montages where multiple battles happened back-to-back. How many Pokemon has Pikachu defeated or had participate in defeating that wasn't shown

I mean, if you want to be technical about it, his Charmander was a trade/gifted Pokémon from another trainer meaning it would gain EXP faster than a normally caught Mon and therefore level up/evolve faster.
In the Pokémon summer camp episode with the kid on the treadmill they do reference levels but other than that they don’t reference levels in the anime at all that I remember

I still think his theory on his level in Kanto is wrong. Simply because if you pay attention to atfer he fights Brock one of the moves he learns is thurderbolt which is learned at level 26 by Pikachu but as he says atfer that he doesn't fight many battles where he knocks out another trainers Pokemon. But if you also pay attention to when he is about to face Lt Surge for the second time in the anime Brock remarks that Lt says that he evolved his Raichu as soon as he got it good so it didn't learn moves like agility which we know Pikachu learns at level 33 we see in the second battle an through out that battle not only did Pikachu learn agility making him over level 33 he beats Raichu an uses the move over an over again through Kanto. So him being level 30 at the end of Kanto is kinda b.s to start with so his math is still gonna be off track going forward

I say for the likes of snivey or challenging early Pokémon, maybe they were training and are on a higher level compared to game logic. Snivey is just training with the other Pokémon at the lab so he can start off strong.

It’s so funny how in the theory the guy says he’s not gonna let anime logic get in the way for him on how Pikachu beat ditto and Dragonite and just let’s it slide, when this whole video is based on a Snivy that should’ve been much weaker than Ash’s Pikachu.
The only thing I can really argue with his theory is that for some reason he’s taking Team Rocket levels into account when they don’t ever really win. So placing them at levels 40-70 just don’t make a lick of sense
