I got really comfortable with modeling but spend, no joke, 4 days trying to get textures working! I tried 3 but found it even less intuitive, but your video made it easier than ever, thank you!
Your demo is really really good. A lot of blender demonstrations are super hard to follow, so kudos to you. I think for newbies we get some weird setting accidentally set and then it doesn't behave the same. In this video I had just one stumble where the grid for the unwrapping didn't show. Clicking the "UV Sync Selection" button to keep the edit view in sync with the UV panel -- then the grid showed.

thank you for a really simple blender tutorial. I could actually follow this. Do you have a complete series. I use b for artist UI btw. This video does help a bit. Even if you do have to press 1 to many button instead of just say selecting a tool. tool options, the you simply us your mouse to drag and scroll. or using a tablet pen to move the image the way you want. Fact: blenders UI, is 10 years out of date. for inclusivity, intuitivness, and simplicity. (and the core coder team does refuse to update it so those in the creation field with autism and low income can use it and have a frustration free experience) it also has 20 million complaints about it. yet they state the only have 14 million down loads haha.
Instead of hitting tab, there is an icon in the top left corner next to where you select your view with two arrows pointing in different directions diagonally - hit that instead.
@@namira3537 If you have an object selected (the object you want the UV skin for) then you change to the UV editor screen, press tab, you should see the layout of your UV. If you don't there is a button with two diagonal arrows right next to the view drop down button.
You have to have the cube selected in the right hand window if in object mode click on the cube it should turn yellow switch the right window now to edit mode some use the Tab key or you can use the drop down menu you might have to mouse scroll to get to see all the menus in these smaller windows, now over in the left "UV" window you should see an icon with two arrows one is pointed up to the right the other is pointed down to the left hover over it with the mouse pointer and it should say UV sync selector click it that should restore the boxes on the UV map. This reply is for others who have had the same problem like me.

This is a very helpful video. How do you add multiple images to a single object? I am trying to re-create a product box in Blender and each side of the box has a different image. How would I do this?

If you hit tab to go into edit mode, select the face you want to put the 2nd image on, then go to the the material tab, create a new material, hit assign and add the image texture like we did in this video - that should do the trick! Sounds like a lot more steps than it actually is HAHA!
I have a model that is not a cube, and my texture just stretches, while the texture is a 16x16 texture, how do I fix it? I clicked on "repeat" in the image properties - same thing

how come this doesn't work for objects that have been sculptures? I've tested and I can see the image on a cube but when I use a sculptured cube it doesn't appear and it shows as a white colour?

Im having the same problem im trying to add a video to a tv screen and when i look in the uv editor there is nothing to choose. Also the video file i put on the tv screen is sideways.
I thought I had tried everything, but I learned a bit today and figured it mostly out. I needed to activate the UV sync selection. It looks a little funny displayed on the object, but I had a object to scale and move
what so do if your cube has bevel so has smooth edges. My UV map has many faces and also some of the cube faces are split in hald and are on other areas. This is so hard to explain basically my UVmap looks a lot more complicated than yours and i cant simply resize 6 faces to the size of my image. Is there an easier way to do it?
I am a novice so please forgive me probably asking silly questions… but I’d like to add an image containing transparent area’s, would that make a difference? Would I need to delete the cube’s faces? Or just construct a cube from the image itself?
hey man could you help me, so i got a 3d model and did all the unwrapping and all that and i got done painting it and i go back to layout and the paint is gone and i dont know how to apply the texture, if you know what im talking about could you help?
i'm trying to use the same health model for both small and medium health, but the creator only made one health model, and made a .bmp for it. so when i rename medium to small, it replaces the original model but still pulls from the same .bmp file. in this case, i have no other option but to open it up in blender and look for the file name, and simply change it. however, upon opening the model in blender.. for one thing i don't know what I'm doing, but I still looked pretty much everywhere but I cannot find any info about the file name. at a bit of a loss here..

@@TutsByKai honestly my guy when i open the file in blender all i see is a cube, and i've clicked on pretty much everything clickable looking for the filename that it uses to no avail so at this point i'd rather just find someone who can do it, as i don't have the time to embark on an entirely new time consuming learning curve project. all they need to do is download the model, load it, then make two clones of it that call for two different mesh bmp's, of course renaming them both something different than the default one. i'm pretty cure i can just change the color of the bmp's through using irfanview or photoshop without ruining the actual gradients.

This works, this is an example of how a tutorial totally fail when a simple tick on a tiny button is not told.

3:05 you can separate the single box out, but in my case it drags along the adjacent boxes together

next to the UI mapping selection where you picked face mode change "Shared Vertex" to "Disabled" and now you can move the UI maps like the video

Try exporting the bmp from Blender and placing it in a different folder before importing again! Hopefully that works.

Hey there. How do I do this on other shapes? Like a sphere for example. I have a can and nothing shows up when I click tab.
You have to unwrap it still, it just won't be as easy to map, because it's not a square!
