      It wasn't "never going to happen", the prediction was that the use of complex symbolic systems, e.g. like musical notation, will be a relatively easy task and it is. Cognitive skills is the barrier, at least with our computational capacity nowadays or in the near future, because Quantum Computing is not an applicable solution. It's overhyped (by non scientists, professionals of the field don't expect great leaps for several reasons) and still in an rudimentary stage.

      @@shawnlee5482 Yeah, you can. For geometric objects such as houses, look into something called fSpy which can match camera angles and export those to Blender -- but you still have to model the object yourself. More generally, and especially for more organic forms, check out photogrammetry where you can make very detailed models from a large series of photographs. You can even use video shot from your smartphone with you walking around the object. Meshroom is a free and opensource program to convert those images into a 3D model which you can then use in any 3D software to clean up and refine.

    This seems like it could become very powerful very fast if it were updated to be able to include being able to define the model's sides and back, plus an auto-trace. It'd certainly be interesting if it gained the ability to take a drawn character reference sheet and compose a model out of such a thing.

    • @ThatguycalledJoe
      @ThatguycalledJoe 2 роки тому +28

      @@MiguelDLewis Technological advancements tend to be pretty agnostic to the job market. The problem more than anything is that there still "has" to be a job market because society "can't function without money".
      Besides, wouldn't do anyone any good if they can't draw well enough to make a decent looking model, and you'd still need to have an eye for depth for post-generation touch ups since I don't think that's something you can feasibly get across in drawings, at least not in a way that's useful for transcribing the drawing to a 3D entity.

    If you're doing game development or plan to animate the characters know you will still need to retopologize them, maybe even before you start modeling them due to the edge flow not matching actual features. I'm not dissing it at all, I'm here because it speeds up getting base models to do just that with- I'm just trying to add tips and pointers to those who are viewing because they want something for animation or game use. You might be able to use an auto reto feature somewhere if you can find a good one, I am hard core and do it in maya.

    People are out there trying to built generative ai's for this and this website is literally creating a balloon with a projected texture. As a programmer and 3d artist, i love when people find simple solutions to Complex problems. Now someone could improve this by adding an ai for better object and depth detection. I know this website isn't perfect for everything but to be real, i don't think you can call it art if you are making a program generate anything more than the background

    Absolutely amazing tool! I could only export it to glTF after pressing the Animate button even when I had no intentions to animate here. The import into Blender works flawlessly. Thank you very much!!

    I wouldn't use it at that polycount. Maybe run a reduction operation on it or even manually retopologize it. It looks like it's about 10k verts at the moment, which is perfectly fine for a hero object but not as a background piece. That being said, this is definitely a quick and dirty way to rough out a model.
