I’m only 12 years old... and I wanted to make cake pops because of a UA-cam short about cake pops!! and I wanted to know how to make!! and yea!!!! this helped me so much!!!!!!!
So I tried this recipe and I have a couple things to say. 1. Although you definitely can leave the cake in the freezer for as long as you’d like, it only took about an hour for it to cool down for me, and I did the whole recipe in only a day. 2. While you’re putting the candy melts on the cake pops, you should know that the pops can fall off really easily if you handle handle them too roughly. I know in the video she said to be careful and not to twirl them, but I cannot stress enough how frustrating it is when the top falls off in the cup. 3. If you don’t have the styrofoam thing with holes to hold the pops, don’t worry! I just poked holes in some small food boxes and they held just fine. Probably not as sturdy as the thing that she had in the video, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 4. Lastly, if you have a bigger family I suggest making multiple batches. It doesn’t make that much, (or at least it didn’t for me) and I can promise you that not all the pops will survive the decorating process. Overall, it was a good recipe and fun to make. With just these suggestions, I applaud Ms. April’s video. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and bake on! Hope it was helpful,

I just bought the wilton candy melt melting pot, makes the melting process so much easier!!! And it keeps the candy/chocolate warm and smooth as you work instead of cooling and starting harden before you are done.
I wouldn't because olive oil isn't flavorless. If you don't have flavorless oil, just skip it because you don't want your cake pops to taste like olives from the oil. The flavorless oil just keeps the candy melts from hardening as quickly, so you might have to reheat the candy melts a few times which is better than having the flavor from the olives in the cake pops. Hope that helps 🙂

Hi Aracely, for the cake mix I added oil because that's what the box instructions call for. For the chocolate melts the oil keeps the chocolate hardening too quickly so you can have more time to dip (you need all the time you can get). You can technically skip the oil, but you might have to reheat the chocolate a few times...😊 thanks for watching!!

Just made these! They turned out delicious!
Awesome, I'm so happy to hear that Ruth!!! 💖💖💖
Thank you so much here where I live we don’t have cake pops and only my friend has a machine to make them thank you so much 😊 ❤️
My pleasure, I hope you make them and enjoy them! 😊❤️
Hi! What type of frosting did you use?
I used Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Vanilla Frosting 🙂
@@LydiaApril Thank you ☺️
I’ve seen some videos where they don’t use oil. Is it essential? Thank you for the video!
New subscriber! I subscribed at the "the parchment paper was so you dont see how beat up my pans are" hahaha Youre my people ...glad I found you !
Haha thank you Stephanie! Great minds always think alike 😊💖
I just adore her vibe so much. Like she seems like the kind of person I'd be friends with.
Thanks Haleema 🥰🥰
Tip the edges will get soft with the frosting if u decide to not cut them out.
Thank you so much for these cake pop tips. I was having trouble melting the chocolate and I didn’t even know I could use melts and also to add oil
You are welcome Marina, glad to hear they worked out! 😁
Starbucks has had some pretty bad tasting cake pops recently… the cake part is not good. Anyway, I made these as they are my favorite cake pop and they turned out so much better and simple to make. They’re also much cheaper for SO MANY cake pops!! Thank you Lydia!! I will be keeping this recipe to make from now on.
she starts the instructions at 2:00 btw

Do we have to keep the cake in the freezer overnight after taking them out of the oven? I'm making Soem RN so just wondering
Hi Camila, no you don't however you do want the cake to be completely cooled before you turn it into cake pops. Hope I answered your question 🙂
@@LydiaApril thank you so much I'll do that right now!
No problem, glad I can help 😊
Thank you so much for making this video I used it to help me with my school project.

Girl....get you a Wilton melts pot , it's electric, makes melting and dipping so much easier!
Oooo I had no idea those were even around! 😮😁💜
Lydia April yes, try Michaels or Hobby Lobby!
I have one of those but the chocolate got to hot and it was a big mess 🧐🧐
