At the top of the list of weapons I wanted to try post Final Shape patch was undoubtedly Necrochasm, the Kinetic Exotic Auto Rifle from the Crota's End raid. With The Final Shape came a substantial change to it's catalyst, previously outlaw, that now makes it a top contender for one of the best Exotic Primaries in the game. The change gave it a new perk aptly named "One For Thrall", and if you think that sounds awfully similar to the regular weapon perk "One For All", well, you'd be right! Functionally, they behave identically, you get a sweet 35% weapon damage bonus for simply hitting 3 separate enemies, something that's incredibly easy to do with Necrochasm. The biggest thing pushing "One For Thrall" past "One For All" is the fact that it's REFRESHABLE, meaning scoring 3 more hits on 3 more enemies completely resets the buff timer, meaning that if you have ads to kill and ammo to spare, you've basically got yourself a permanent 35% damage buff! The benefits don't end there though, dear viewer, since because it's technically a Weapon of Sorrow, Cursed Thrall explosion kills while wearing the Warlock Exotic Gauntlets Necrotic Grip spread a poison burst to nearby enemies, and what's more, there's a sick interaction between this poison and the main perk itself, but I'll leave that one for you to discover in the video! So something interesting is that you can get necrotic to roll in the first column of solipsism and it does work with weapons of sorrow, and then you can also get verity in the second column and it gets procced by the cursed thrall explosions if you have storm grenades on. So you can roll around and have more cursed thrall procs while also throwing out storm grenades that do 100% more damage at max stacks.

I have been running a very similar build, with the solipsism that also has synthoceps. Using a glaive with close to melee as a special weapon.
Gotta love that bungie are taking good care of the most liked exotics but there are some exotics still without a catalyst just being left behind and forgotten. Xenophage catalyst when?

Gotta love the people that don't understand how or why Bungie use exotic catalysts as fun engagement tools on a seasonal or content-type basis. Would you like them to just release catalysts for everything all at once? And then people would complain when 80% of them are bad, or not what was expected, or OP, or whatever the flavor of the week is that the community wants to decide to complain about?
They release plenty of new catalysts on a pretty regular basis now days. Just enjoy the ones that are fun and good... you'll get one eventually for whatever your precious little favorite gun is. Enjoy what exists instead of dwelling on what doesn't.

As someone who has almost exclusively been using Necrochasm since I got it day 1, it has been my absolute favorite weapon in D2, even before the Final Shape buffs. There are a couple things I would like to mention, on the Prismatic subclass Necrochasm is an absolute light meter battery, especially with Facet of Devotion meaning you can almost entirely invest into a darkness based build.
Another notable fragment is the Facet of Solitude because severing targets will count towards Facet of Devotions bonus light energy on kills, Facet will also spawn tangles on severed target defeats and with the Cursed Thrall explosion it will cause the tangle to self detonate. Which may sound bad if your invested in a strand build, but this interaction can be taken advantage of, especially in harder content with beefier enemies because you will now be stacking the Cursed Thrall explosion WITH a tangle explosion as well, this helps greatly with keeping the add clear lethality in harder content.
If you are running Necrochasm with Necrotic Grips DO NOT pass up on Facet of Balance this fragment will greatly help with melee regeneration from the Cursed Thrall explosion since they are Arc (light) damage. Getting good chunks of melee energy back just from using the gun helps when you have a 3 stack melee charge on Arcane Needle since you will be using them pretty frequently with priming targets (especially one farther away) and just using them with Necrotic melee capabilities.
P.S you can double dip into orb generation with a kinetic and arc siphon on your helmet.

One thing to note: Desperation is a 25% DPS increase going from 720 rpm to 900 rpm, but because it increases fire rate rather than just being a 25% damage buff, one for thrall combined with a 25% DPS buff becomes a 68.75% total DPS buff instead of just a 25+35=60% buff. Necrochasm cooks now and is in my opinion a top 3 PvE primary.

Ran it for my entire Legend Campaign and was pleasantly surprised at how potent it is. I believe the cursed thrall explosion was also buffed so they chain quicker and so the poison ticks a little bit longer too. It’s SO good.
I used this with necrotic during Onslaught and its my fav sorrow weapon.

Definitely Crota’s end. Every time you kill crota (when farmable, if not once per character per week) you can get a “lottery” where you get the gun plus the catalyst.
Have been using it for a few weeks and having a blast.
might as well get a combination with necrotics on the class iten since the perk on the class item will act the exact same, running it with star eaters and necrotics is a lot of fun
I believe Spirit of Necrotic is less damage on its own than Necrotic Grip. Dunno if Weapons of Sorrow care, but I doubt Necrochasm does.
If you can, I’d recommend farming out a Spirit of Necrotic and spirit of claws (I think) for +1 melee and necrotic poison
I use necrogasm with necrotic + eater class item but didnt know about the poison enabling non-crit cursed thrall explosions. HUGE tech - thank you
cant wait for release of the solar rocket sidearm, Imma use that plus either necro or khvostov and Apex predator on heavy.

@@Alex-ug9wx I mean, maybe? Voltshot is still hella good since it can stun overloads, and sidearms are also unstoppable this season, so you got a 2 for 1.
@@SSD_Penumbra true, but since kills are so easy on special sidearms and the ammo economy is so good for them, you could take it to GM level content and be healed to full health nearly instantly.
It’s also the fact that enhancable perks will be on the new weapon.
I really wish bungie would let me enhance dungeon weapons… they’re being mildly powercrept just by the fact they’re all standard perks.
Still, I do love IK. But solar weapons just have way more use because arc is kind of meh.
Imagine using it with ember of benevolence or ember of empyrean. It’s really gonna be potent in the right cases.
I loaded into TFS campaign the first day on Necrotic Grips/Necrochasm and it really just destroyed almost everything.
I need to get the catalyst part of the raid done! I got so lucky with the 40x drop of the oversoul, got the gun and catalyst together, and now I need to get this done!
I can test this myself later, but do you know off hand if the arc part of the cursed thrall explosions then also work for stacking up Death Throes on Veritys? I've got an Osmio / Verity class item I'd love to be able to use this with.

Currently chasing those essences of the oversoul. I am saving this video for when I fully unlock it.
I just started doing weekly full crota runs in order to get it, & hopefully I get blessed with all of the oversouls needed in one drop soon. I've been using a similar build with Thorn but the add clear obviously just isn't as good. I can't wait until I have it!

Would galvanic armour and spark of resistance stack? 30% + 25% damage resist ontop of 100 resilience would be pretty tanky
dude ive been using it recently and it's been soooo fun! unfortunately with the meta ive been struggling due to its lack of range (specifically in 6s). but when it works it WORKS!
also i meant in pvp. in pve it ROCKS. its my goto weapon for the dual destiny misson.
Class item with Necro + Synto would be good on that build 😮
OMG LLAMA!!! I don't know the melee interaction to get the explotion without the headshot... This is my fav weapon on the game, but now... IS THE MY FAV WEAPON IN THE WORLD!
The tick damage was also increased 1.5 seconds which helps a lot
The thing I hate about all this SIVA-themed ornaments is that they're just reminders that Bungie introduced something that was actually interesting and could lead to great stories just to throw it in the bin after Rise of Iron.

They're very close for me, I've put about 10k kills on my Khvostov but I'm gonna be using Necro now for a bit, see how things go.

Khvostov is easier to use, but necrochasm has a drastically higher ceiling with the amount of build crafting you can do and also how the gun works. Out of the gate khvostov is better but if you put in some effort, IMO necrochasm destroys

After seeing this I pulled Nechrocasm from collections. I havd previouslycompleted the catalyst, however it will not allow me to apply it. Have you heard of this problem?

Yes it does! Pairs well with Verity (if you're using Storm nade) for beefy nade damage!

Absolute favorite exotic in D1 and I love it even more in D2. Too bad i still don't have that caty and most likely never will now that I'm stuck playing solo

My main issue with Nechrochasm is its efficiency on master/gm difficulty contents, you have to be at close range to get that precision kill against tanky red bars and it can be very frustrating to not proc a cursed thrall explosion.
Did you not watch the video? Note the synergy with necrotic grip melee
@@thebhoy8561 I watched it you see, you're not gonna have a melee for every red bar to have an easy explosion kill, + chances are that your teammates will kill the one you've poisoned.
This is too much things to consider to bring this weapon for master/gm contents, there are better exotics primary for this, outbreak, osteo graviton, sunshot etc...

Legend lost sectors are endgame, yeah.
To be fair Master content is end game. If you can solo a master lost sector then the build is end game viable. Soloing a master dungeon is probably better, but once you hit that end game it's mostly a skill level thing versus a will my build do well thing.
If EITHER of you watched the fucking video, that wasn't a Legend OR Master lost sector... That was just the open world one...

Just pointing something out rq. You mentioned it does extra dmg for being Kinetic but they actually removed that function recently as well. All elements and non elements deal the same damage

Incorrect, the 10% bonus remains for red bars but they DID remove it against bosses.
Wait did they fix necrotics with Touch of Malice? Last time I tried using it together it didn't do the spread of poison.
It was never broken. Touch spreads the poison on the charged with blight ball you shoot. Same way nechrochasm spreads it off the cursed thrall explosion.

most of the folks will mention having a Discord server and suggest joining them to find LFG groups for raids and such. not everyone is a crapshoot on LFG, though I can certainly sympathize that taking that first step is the toughest...
How did you manage to proc devour using arcane needle with necrotics on? Its bugged for me and i cant get devour to proc on empowered melee kill while i have necrotics on.
If you get the kill outright with arcane needle, it should proc. If the poison gets the kill, it won't proc devour. I was getting around the issue by deliberately getting an enemy's health down a bit prior to throwing the needle if I was trying to proc devour to start chaining it.

Something I feel like your massively underselling is just how much damage the Cursed Thrall explosions do. In the video you said they were better than Sunshot and Graviton because it's a kinetic weapon, but in actuality the explosions deal 122% more damage than a Sunshot explosion in a larger radius and 50% more than a Graviton explosion when you include One For Thrall.
Before Final Shape Graviton had Necrocasm beat for damage (if every seeker hit the same target), and now that it got a 10% nerf and Necrocasm has a 35% buff its not even a competition anymore. It's hands down the best chain explosion exotic right now.

Llama will you with 6 friends test wolf pack caster frames (ergo Polaris if you have) vs witness? Totally viable. But lfg won’t do it if they don’t see it. It’s 3rd person and don’t need crits. So you can focus on witness beams and not waste four lives in a damage phase lololol

They changed it months ago so that you have the potential to get all the souls at once like a normal exotic drop.
Wish hunters and titans got some synergy with weapons of sorrow, really lame that only one class gets this kind of synergy with so many weapons...
they do you just need to understand how to pair stuff, like necrochasm procs precious scars healing
Hunters also make use of Lucky Pants with Thorn, especially since the remnants from thorn kills can overflow the mag and let you stack damage without reloading.
Can necro be competitive against outbreak because its so just insanely strong at everything
I'd imagine it's dependant on what you're using it for... both have good add clear, though this video might suggest it Necro edges out against Outbreak on that with the thrall explosions.
for stopping power, though, Outbreak likely beats Necro, as the nanites enable the shots to do more damage... and it adds up faster with a team of them.

@@Dragonnd2 yes the perk can activate off that but to actually get the benefit you still have to reload. Once proc’d and reloaded the first time you can keep proc’ing it and not have to reload.
Pretty sure they removed the Kinettic damage bonus over other elements.

Only on boss damage. On red bars it still does
No kinetics keep their damage buff towards red / orange bars. The only thing that was changed was they removed it against bosses.

Little tip. If your gonna use any necrotic build you should use the class item over the original gauntlets if you can as it does the same exact thing but has another exotic perk so it’s just better.

Thanks for bringing up the fact that the damage doesn’t increase over time with the spirit of necrotic, I wasn’t aware of this. I retract my previous statement, spirit of necrotic is NOT better than the original. It by itself will only deal the lowest amount of tick damage regular necrotic does and will spread poison via weapons of sorrow. Probably still better if you’re going for a poison build to just use the original imo.
The exotic class item poison has less damage, probably a 45% drop from what I read.
The class item version does a LOT less damage.

There is a chance to get all the stuff you need randomly on a clear per character. Also if you join a team on a final checkpoint and that team never left the raid, you will still get the two essence at the end
This is probably the least random raid exotic other than Divinity--you're guaranteed to get at least some progress every run. I got it from the bug where they forgot to turn off auto-drops on it after contest mode, so not sure exactly how many on average.
It's also just not a super hard raid. Just gotta pay attention to the chalice meter and turn your ingame brightness up for encounter 1 and you'll be fine.

they removed the 10% kenetic damage bonus when removing the spec mods, they said theyll also remove that dmg bonus so darkness kenetic weapons dont get overshadowef
They only removed the damage bonus against bosses, it still does 10% more damage to minor and major enemies.
This nerf was only for boss type enemy’s so unless you are dpsing with a kinetic auto rifle I think you’ll live

What did you read lol. It clearly said that damage buff against BOSS enemies. It still deals more against minors and majors.

Heard you mention it a couple times, so you must have missed it. Kinetics no longer get the damage bonus against unshielded targets as of final shape.
and as mentioned frequently in the comments, you'll likely be made aware that this nerf only applies to Boss enemies, Red/Orange bars still get this damage boost on them.
