So glad you’ve returned to painting nemesis. Thanks for uploading. More nemesis plz
You’re very welcome and glad you’re enjoying the videos. There’s still plenty of Lockdown to do have no fear 😊
@@BrushWoodMinis fantastic. I am a colourblind painting noob so your videos are especially appreciated
That’s really lovely of you to say. Out of interest how do you find painting miniatures with your colour blindness? Are there certain hues you struggle with? I must confess I’m quite ignorant with this, even though I have friends who are colourblind too.
@@BrushWoodMinis the best way to explain colourblindness is that you can tell the difference between colours , but you can’t tell what colours they are and sometimes different colours (eg red and brown) can look like different shades of the same colour.
As regards painting, once I am told what colour and specific paint to use and where to apply it,from a vid like yours, I have absolutely no problem painting.
That’s why I value channels like yours so much.
So…if you describe what paint (and colour) you are using, or what ratios you are using to mix when necessary, and then show where you are applying it, colourblind painters like myself have no problem.
I actually love painting minis but do need guidance from channels like yours.
Hope this helps you to understand. Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about colourblindness and it’s impact on mini painting 👍
Wow thank you for that insight, I’ll certainly keep you and others in mind whilst filming and endeavour to always have colours & ratios on screen. Have a great rest of your week 😊
Welcome back sir.....fantastic work
Thank you so much my friend 😊
Another great job
Thank you as always my friend 😊
Great Tutorial, and the effect whem finally the good lighting was back 😅
Haha thanks Christian, I couldn’t believe it when I started reviewing some shots and saw how dark it was! Baby brain I guess and I was too far down the rabbit hole to reshoot. Must try harder but so glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Amazing work! Just wondering if you would also be painting the intruders from the base game, would love to see them painted by you!
Aw thank you for those really kind words 😊 Unfortunately at this time I’ve got no plans to take on the original base game, though I’ll never say never of course.
You used those fluorescent paints. Have you tried how those models now look under black light? 🙂
Ha no, they are only the normal fluorescents, not the glow in the dark ones. Bet that’d look really cool though, especially when you’re in powered downed sections of the game 😆
Hey, thanks for the tuto, one question: During the final glase with the majenta, do you also glase the black highlights?
Hey, you’re very welcome and thanks. Regards your question, no, I just glazed the “wing flaps” for want of a better term to boost the saturation.
What is the color for slime? Good job!
Ooh sorry I thought I’d said that during the filming though I don’t think I held it up to camera. It’s Warp Lightning contrast colour by Games Workshop. Thanks for the kind words too.
You copied Sorastro's format to a tea, you're duplicating his presentation, editing style, you're mimicking his speech pattern even using the same vocabulary as he does, things like "we will be adding some optional finishing touches at the end" etc. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by someone, but this is absurd! You're imitating SO MUCH you're even using the same brushes he uses. Please consider trying to find your own voice, and bringing something new to the table. You're a talented painter and I thing you should step out of his shadow and let your own personality shine. Because Ooof man, that's not cool.
I appreciate the feedback, genuinely I do! I can fully see and take on board your point of view here, however, allow me to drop in a little context.
I learnt 90% of my painting technique from Mark, right from my first steps into painting. My style is like his because he is who taught me predominantly. The reason my videos follow his format are because that’s precisely how I learnt. His video work, which is amazing, was what spoke to me, I learn in the way he delivers. Which is precisely why when I first started producing my own videos I naturally fell into a similar pattern.
ALL of this has been done fully with his knowledge and consent I’ll hasten to add. Including accreditation’s to him where appropriate. Over the years he’s become a friend as well as a mentor/tutor and I would take the whole channel down if he in anyway felt infringed upon. I use those brushes because they’re cost effective and brilliant brushes, plus I’m an affiliate to them.
You are of course right that I need to better find my own voice, something I am trying to do. It’s an unfortunate circumstance that we do speak the same way, with similar language. I hope this at least goes some way to you rethinking the “not cool” comment.
@BrushWoodMinis I understand. Just take some time to think about this. I believe it would greatly benefit you from diversifying your approach and finding ways to let your own style influence your content, and make it uniquely yours.
Like I said, you're a talented painter, and you deserve to be more than just a copy. Because right now, IMO, your videos are too derivative, it's a bit uncanny.
But also feel free to disregard what I said. If you're 100% happy with the way things are, go for it.
Oh no problem and like I said before I genuinely appreciate the feedback. It is something I’m aware of and I guess falling into this format has given me a safety or comfort blanket feel in that I know it works.
I will fully take this on board and look to change things up a bit, though it probably won’t be overnight. Seriously and sincerely my thanks for this, sometimes a kick up the backside can help and you could have been far more ‘forthright and forceful’ in your views shall we say than you were.
I hope what content you may have watched of mine you enjoyed anyway.
