- Lufthansa Trip Report flying from Munich to Los Angeles onboard one of the Lufthansa A380s, in Premium Economy, on a beautiful spring day.
My first flight on the Lufthansa Airbus A380. It was a long time since I wanted to make this flight and, finally, it happened. The experience however didn't start as desired: the previous day I got a notification from Lufthansa that the flight was delayed by 4 hours. Luckily, I was able to spend the time in the Lufthansa Lounge and watching planes, so in the end it wasn't that bad...
We took off from Munich with almost 4h and a half delay. After some turns, we set course towards northern Germany and started our route to Los Angeles. We crossed all Germany and entered the North Sea close to Denmark. From there he flew towards Iceland. Sadly, this was completely under the clouds... however, Greenland was without a cloud.
And just because of the views over Greenland, this trip was worth it. I always say that it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth... well, this time went a step further, as we saw it with the sweet light of the Sunset. But as we were flying westwards it was almost permanently with light. I'm sure you will love it. It was more than amazing.
We left Greenland over the city of Ilulissat and crossed the Bay of Baffin, completely covered by the Sea Ice, flying towards another amazing place on Earth: the inhospitable area of Nunavut, in Canada. The weather was even better there. Not a single cloud, so we could enjoy all the canyons, mountains, frozen areas, glaciers... Words can't describe the landscapes there...
We crossed all Canada and entered the USA. From there we flew over Yellowstone Park, Salt Lake City, and the Mojave Desert. Finally, we passed over Las Vegas, before starting our descent towards Los Angeles. Due to the delay, this time we enjoyed an amazing night approach over the city of Los Angeles.
About the onboard service, there were 2 main services: lunch and a small dinner. For lunch, I decided to take the pasta. It was a quite good meal. Around 2 hours before landing a small dinner was served. After several flights with Lufthansa in economy class, I must say that there's definitely a notable difference between the catering in economy and premium economy.

Can't understand how one could have a window seat on such a flight and not take time to see the world below, which they may never see again. This world is too beautiful not to observe when you can. Overall it shows the majesty of our Creators wonderful work.
I know.. it's unvelievable... I'm not saying that everyone should stay like me on the window, I know everyone has things to do... but come on! You are almost 12 hours on that plane, I'm sure you can use 10-15 minutes on the total flight to see one of the most marvelous places on Earth! Anyway...

I understand what you mean but we‘re all aviation fans. Of course we like to look out the window. For most people it just isn’t of any interest. We should just accept that
I look out the window the whole flight and when we land I turn my head back and boy does my neck hurt. A solid landing.

The A380 is an amazing plane, I love to fly with it, so comfortable and quiet 😊 You was lucky that the premium eco was empty, if a stranger is sitting next to you, it's not comfy like this 😁 The views over Greenland are awesome 👍 My last flight with Lufthansa's A380 was in First Class, if you ever have the chance to try it, just do it, it's an incredible experience 🥂

I agree about the empty seat next to me. The comfort probably wouldn't change dramatically... but I couldn't be standing up to the other side of the plane and get all the amazing views we had. :)

Hi Lucas. Thankyou for another cracking video ✈The plane was huge and it was lovely to see you had lots of room.The engines were so quiet on take off. I loved the info about the condensation caused by the bit of rain .I'm glad we could see Greenland so perfectly and had i been in that seat i would nt have missed a second of the spectacular splendour it has.Shocked that nobody else was interested 😮. Bravo. What a great review. Thank you for sharing the breathtaking views of Greenland. I recently flew Emirates A380s on premium economy out of São Paulo and back (nearly 15 hours each way) my first time on this amazing ship. Loved how smooth the engines sounded, so was shocked by the noise of their B777 that got me from Dubai to Moscow. Fortunately it was an A380 too out of Moscow 😅

Thank you for the stunning photography! Your channel is the best in that aspect. In the last few years, I have been flying with BA because I have a status with them. Their A380 seems to cater better to Premium Economy-at least recently. The meals are more plentiful and visually appealing. Other than that, I would enjoy the Lufty A380 more. The seat configuration is better; the BA's business class is awful. I hear that Lufthansa is refurbishing the A380 seating as well. I sincerely hope both airlines will keep these fabulous kings of the sky in service as long as possible.

I always want a window seat to watch the scenery from above.
Transatlantic crossing between the iberian peninsula towards South America and the Caribbean is quite boring, because there's nothing to see really. It's mostly cloudy and very shaky due to severe turbulence. I hate night flights in general.
I can't really sleep on long haul flights towards Argentina or Peru. When the plane departed from Madrid I try to distract me with cross words, listening to music on the IFE. 😢
But the atlantic is boring nothing to see.
Greenland, Iceland, European Alps, Rockies, Western edge of the Himalaya all to be watched in fascination out the windows! I find it impossible to sleep while travsersing these regions!
Yeah, we have seen many parts of Earth on the last months. It's really amazing how we have achieved with this channel :)

Looks like a nice smooth flight. Sometimes you get moderate turbulence when flying across Eastern Canada because of the jet streams, especially around Quebec, but yours seemed ok. The food looked ok too.

I've not flown the A380 yet - will later this year. Have flown Lufthansa's 747 in economy. As a former aerospace engineer, I have to say the 747 is the most beautiful commercial airliner.

El avión es impresionante no me extraña que tengas sitio de sobra, a mi entender o por lo menos eso pienso yo que tienen que mejorar bastante el catering , pero lo mejor ha sido las maravillosas vistas de Groenlandia son impresionantes pero para verlas desde el aire no me imagino el frio que tiene que hacer alli. Bonito vídeo, esspero algún dia ir en ese magnífico A-380 .Un cordial saludo y buen finde.
El catering de Lufthansa va mejorando poco a poco. Recientemente han anunciado más inversión en servicios al pasajero... aunque no dijeron nada específico del catering... veremos qué pasa en los próximos meses...

Very enjoyable video, many thanks. I’m with you; I cannot understand why those with window seats don’t look out of them during the journey (or even when taxiing). There is so much of our World that is amazing to watch. I always look out to see what I can spot.

Nunca volé en el A-380 lo hice varias veces en el 747-8 / 747-4 seria lindo pode hacer un viaje, es raro que ninguna aerolinea americana tenga el A-380. Espectacular el video como siempre , saludos y a la espera del proximo video.
De hecho no es nada raro. Las aerolíneas en USA se basan en tener muchos hubs y operar desde ellos. De ahí que necesiten muchos aviones y de menor capacidad.
Si el modelo fuese de tener solo 1 o 2 hubs en toda USA, entonces sí que habría A380s y B747s en las aerolíneas de USA.
Qué me gusta cuando veo que eliges películas sobre Harry Potter o Animales Fantásticos (sí, una potterhead). Qué gran reportaje el de hoy.
A ver para cuándo una visita a Calgary con Westjet 😂😂

The original was another A380, so luckily we were not "downgraded" to an A350 due to the maintenance :)
I suggest reviewing long haul flights from and to Australia and New Zealand as well 😃

Well done Lufthansa premium economy! Airbus is a better manufacturer than Boeing today, but I'd prefer the 747-8 to A380. The Queen is more beautiful and elegant.Lufthansa seems to like the 747's better than A380 too( maybe if A380 was not an Airbus they wouldn't be flying them)...Thanks Lucas for the great flight report

I do have one question.. I’m flying exactly this route on Sunday, but in Economy. Which seat would you suggest. I’ve seen that the Economy starts right over the Wing, but you most likely won’t see much when you’re sitting there. So probably behind the wing, right?

Recently flew FRA-YVR. 747-400, very old, faded paint (old blue and yellow livery). Toilets that didn’t flush. IFE not working. No wi-fi. Worn charging outlets that plugs kept falling out of. Old-style interior. Inedible meals in business class.

I've watched lots of video trip reports but I've never seen one where they hand out the customs declaration cards before entering countries. Is this no longer done by airlines pre arrival or just too boring to include in videos?
As far as I know, there are no more declaration cards to enter the United States, at least I didn't see them in any of my flights.
Everything should be done electronically.
But don't take my words for sure, it's a topic that I really don't have any clue about...
