Why does this video only have SUBTITLES!? As always, you may recognize subtitled videos by the 🟦BLUE🟦 text boxes in the thumbnails, while narrated videos have 🟥RED🟥 text boxes. Our channel actually started out only showcasing inflight experiences with substitles and limited editing, to create the most authentic, nondisruptive experience for our audience. But, as UA-cam changed, we gradually changed with it, to a style involving narration and thus more effort, which is also much more time-consuming to produce. We will still occasionally put out videos with substitles like today, so let us know if you prefer these, or the ones with voice-overs, so we know where to place our focus! 😄 We hope you enjoyed this tranquil air travel report nonetheless.
I actually prefer subtitled only. Reason being it is giving out a fun experience using your ears to enjoy for a flight reviewer perspective! So any forms is fine!
I have been watching simply aviation since 2016 and pretty much know the channel for these subtitled videos. But the the narrated ones have been a breath of fresh air. Especially because you guys do them soo right. Tbh I had thought you guys stopped subbed videos 😅. If I had to choose I would definitely say more narrated videos cuz they are some of the best trips reports out there and I find my self watching them start to finish, such as the recent Air Astana Business class review. Shout out to David, Felix and the entire team at Simply aviation for these Trip reports.
I was once due to return on -AK12 from CGK to JED (as part of a multi-leg journey). At boarding time the engine cowl was opened and a delay of 30 minutes announced for technical issues. This then turned into the typical 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour followed by an outright cancellation of the midnight flight back to Jeddah. Where Saudia's service really shined however, was the speed and efficiency of rebooking the flights on all legs in the remaining itinerary, followed by accommodation at, and luxury transfers to and from, a 5* hotel in central Jakarta. Passengers effectively had the say in which airline, route and timing they wanted to be rebooked on, with no payment required on our part. I have heard terrible stories of similar events with other airlines, notably with competition in the Middle East. Well done to Saudia for good management during disruption.
I believe that after Saudia has their brand re-announced with the new logo and everything, the service has gotten better a bit. But to be honest, the planes are still outdated on the most part but the plane with the formula E livery has a great cabin. They only fly that plane to the US and domestically on the Jeddah - Riyadh route when needing the aircraft in either city. But their new A321-neo fleet is quiet nice.
The downgrade to non-flat seats is surely disappointing, but those old seats still look super comfortable for sitting/lounging. And when you are traveling with your neighbor, the lack of privacy of not having your own little pod must be okay. The food looks delicious, and the amenity kit came in a bag I think I'd actually look forward to reusing later on
@@colonel_carlitofor thousands of dollars, sure. But it says in the description of the video that this trip only cost 317 Euro. I've paid more than that for domestic economy 😅
People have high expectation for Saudia... so, it might be a shock for them to see this cabin for such long flight. Except from the dated cabin, everything was excellent.
I just want to share my appreciation SA crew for giving us both excellent trip reports and brutally honest episodes. You are doing great job, that also giving me some hints for future travels. Best regards from Poland ✈
4:50..Well to me, i think those business class seats look pretty awesome. If you're a sci-fy guy, just imagine you travelled back through time to fly Saudi Air to America. It will be alright. 😉😁
Great report as always. 1. I think if it would have been the B787 you are flying in, you would have enjoyed it more. The single tray meal service was likely due to the fact that there is another passenger besides you and they did not want to disturb the other person. 2. In the intro part, Jeddah and Mecca are different places. Keep up the great videos.
There will be a Brutally Honest video coming up about Saudia's Business Class aboard the Airbus A330 Regional and Boeing 787-9. :) Also, Jeddah is in Mecca Province, that's why it's listed in the into. City, Province, Country. Jeddah, Mecca, Saudi Arabia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecca_Province Hope that clears things up! :)
@@simply_aviation Thank you for the clarification. You are right, Mecca is both a province and a city. Anyway, look forward to the Brutally Honest video.
I have flown with Saudia several times, and i must say, there newer products, 787 and A320neo, in the business class, have amazing products, seats and options. the older A330 and 777 have really gotten to an age where it isnt great anymore, but for the price is ok. The lounge is pretty cool (except for the silly plastic cutlery) but again for the price that one can get flights for, especially in business class, you get more than you can by other airlines
The cuisine and catering on this airline Saudia seems absolutely incredible. The seats are good too. I think their infligh product is excellent, although it is likely better on their newer and refurbished aircraft.
I really miss this kind of tripreport with only subtitles! Brings back the nostalgia of how your channel was originally like, really. Kinda interesting that it has been more than a decade already since you started this. Looking forward to more trip reports to come! Keep going :)
There are similar seats in Qatar business class on some routes still as well. And Emirates business class has 2-3-2 on some routes. These are 7 hour routes where they should’ve upgraded but still have not. I think SA is a dry airline but Emirates and Qatar are not, and both offer good vegetarian/vegan options.
Enjoyed great service on Saudia from Jeddah to JFK. The only negative part was rowdy children, knocking and banging on bathroom doors knowing there's people inside and parents not caring at all. Speaks volumes about the kind of society they come from.
As someone who rarely ever sleeps (even in FC) on transatlantic flights, a lie flat bed wouldn’t bother me. I think I would actually be more comfortable in a recliner as long as it was padded. The food looked really first class.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has three Saudi Airlines operators: Flynas, Saudia and Riyadh. They are the safest airlines in the world. Greetings from Saudi Arabia.
A lot of Qatar Airways and Emirates b777 aircraft are still with the old seating and the old entertainment system and have not been updated, it's not just Saudi Airlines, honestly, the experience is different from plane to another
I am personally a fan of these older style business seats, since I mostly fly 2 people. And these seats are just more cozy in my opinion. Food looks absolutely lovely. Way better than what I often have encountered with Emirates.... Qatar is still in a league of its own though.
Saudi Airlines has already ordered about a year ago modern B 787 aircraft, more than 40 aircraft, and they will arrive during the next four years. As for these old aircraft, they will not be used again.
Hello there Simply Aviation!! First of all, I would like to say that I have been a big fan of your videos for many years now. However, I have a question. In the future, could you please do a review on Aeroexpress Regional Airlines, from Budapest to Cluj Napoca or in reverse, if you wish? The reason why I would like you to do this is that they have 3 Embraer 120 Brasilia aircraft in their fleet, with all of them being over 35+ years old. Also, as far as I am aware, they are the only airline in Europe that still use this type of aircraft. Kind regards, Andrew from Zurich.
That's very strange, because if they had time (at the last maintenance period) to install mood lighting why didn't they install the new seats at the same time?
If it means a cheaper ticket, I'm happy to fly in a cabin like that. Unfortunately they are rare now. I don't eat halal, but the vegetarian options look good.
according to aerolopa, only their 77Z config which has the F class has the better J class seats. All other configurations have the outdated 2-2-2 layout.
Great flight. Bit surprising me to see Transatlantic Flight from Middle East to US using 2-2-2 seating layout in Business. Correct me If I Wrong, this configuration always deployed at Hajj Flight.
Narrated > Caption. I’ve been following you since you started the channel and know that it was captions only before. But being able to hear what you’re saying while i’m doing chores/working out/ or even on the work commute. i can listen when i can’t read. Just my 2 cents of course.
Hello, your tripreport is always the best! I'm going to travel from Pakistan to Chicago in July. I optioned Qatar and emirates , but theyre very expensive for those dates. Turkish airlines is available in an affordable price with three connecting flightas stopover one via gulf air. Can you kindly suggest sth?
Personally, I don't see much to complain about here. I can never sleep on planes, so the lack of a lie-flat seat wouldn't mean much to me. That excellent food alone would be enough to make me happy!
If they used another Boeing 777-300ER, it might’ve been better because of the diamond configuration business class. I dunno y my nation’s airline still hasn’t updated some of the older planes in the fleet, they should’ve been upgraded by now!
Always look at the bright side, if EK has an aircraft change to a bird with older interior, you would have a 2-3-2 seat configuration in Business class…
Disappointed?? How?? Okay that's not a perfect business class experience but man look at the price he paid ! That's the price of an economy class ticket for this trip. So considering the insanely low price that's almost perfect to me
Saudia Airlines is too good to be honest but the bad thing that your on plane B777 that is the old version as you can see in the livery it says Saudi Arabian, if it’s Saudia you would have a better experience and if it’s the newest one which is green and white you would have greatly amazing experience. Saudia is always a very good airline
I flown this aircraft back in 2012 when it was 5 months old, it was good aircraft but now the seats start showing his age, specially on business class These days the US flights operate by newer 777 3-class configuration with 1-2-1 first/business class unlike this video it’s recorded on February 2023
Had a similar experience on Saudia, I was flying from Mumbai India to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a 6 hour flight in business class. I was expecting their staggered business seats on their A330 but when I boarded, I realised it was the recliner seats (like the ones in US buisness class) and no lie flat ones. Only a pair of flimsy headphones was provided and the screen didn’t work. 6 hours of boredom later I landed in Jeddah
Saudia is a type of boutique airline but they are lagging behind the other middle East airlines but the main positive of Saudia is the average age of their aircrafts is very less

Saudia is still lagging behind Emirates and Qatar. Price is always good though.
On price they can’t beat Air China cheap as chips 😅..
@@markjoseph196fly on air china and you will see why 😂
I feel like they've just given up and let Riyadh Air compete with the dominant folks. Saudia is now an airline for the Saudis.
It is heavily subsidizes by the Saudi government
The 2-2-2 angleflat is still arguably a better hard product than what Emirates mostly flies (2-3-2 angleflat on the 777s) to the US.
The downgrade to non-flat seats is surely disappointing, but those old seats still look super comfortable for sitting/lounging. And when you are traveling with your neighbor, the lack of privacy of not having your own little pod must be okay.
