Am I the only one disappointed they didn't plug it in and take it for a test drive?
Yeah I was hoping for that too, OBVIOUSLY!
No, you're not the only one who's disappointed :-)

@@GCKelloch thanks for the pro tip!
I've got the 1987 reissue of this amp. MK1 reissue. amazing amp..
These are always a pleasure to watch!!!
One thing about old Mesa and "loud"... I often play a '77 Mark I (with JBL K120) with unplugged, un-miked acoustic guitars, vocals, and hand percussion, and it's just fine. Sounds big and full, like a Mesa should. It's the world's greatest practice amp! Except for the seventy pounds thing, yeah. Cranked up, it's as loud as I've ever felt necessary to be. It has a very intense, concentrated sound that very few amps can match. It just sounds big all the time, but always fits into wherever it needs to fit.
Love these videos
And here I thought we were going to hear this amp RIP nice and loud
More Rig Rundown's - we love them - especially "Pedals & Effects" - Love this series. John Bohlinger always does a fantastic job. & Stay Safe.
Sweet.
I happen to have an early Snakeskin Bass 130. It's a little beast ;)
4:50 - solid effort, Jim. Way to go.
Legend
Well that’s a few bucks worth of amps...
Look at the size of the transformer on the Boogie 😳
Yeah!
That's why old Boogies are so damn heavy. They're dense.
@@davestagner where can i find a replacement transformer thats that Thicc?
@@levijessegonzalez3629 No idea. Everything on mine is original. It's still on the original caps even, after 43 years! (When I got it 10 years ago, I asked to get a cap job done. The technician actually refused, saying every cap was fine and a cap job would risk altering the tone. And in that decade, I've never heard a cap-reforming pop.)

Mercury Magnetics
FINALLY
I remember. This rig rundown makes me happy. I Finally see Santana's rig
the only negative point is that it was ed doing the gear not Carlos
Santana Put boogie on the map.....its prob tru about dumbles tho....if they have one....they prob need 2.... yikes $$$
I think JB tours with more than one Dumble, as well as several Fender Twins. 💚🎸
Billy Bob Thorton? LOL!
mesa, orange and peavey the OTHER greatest amps along with classics fender, vox and marshall
I used to have a MKII C+... another grand slam.
If Carlos was sincere about being after that great 1973 " Lotus band" tone that he had, he'd keep the original Boogie he has, ditch the PRS guitar, go back to the Les Paul with the Bill Lawrence designed "Super Humbucking " pickups, ditch the Bludotone's , ditch the Dumbles, ditch the PRS cabs, and use Fender Twins again for his rhythm playing, using just the Boogie for his solos.
There's your 1973 Santana sound.
No sound ?
Isn't this a 6 year old video or thereabouts?
Think so because dude is all grey now!!!
It has Ruby tubes...Mesa will not be happy!
Who’s the long haired kid (sounds EXACTLY like Bollinger)
Judging from the hair I'd say Nick Cave, but he smiles too much to be him
it would've been better if it was Carlos and not Ed personally
Players at Carlos' level rarely know much about their stage rigs. I feel ya though. Always cool to hear from the man himself.
The way the interviewer stands at the end of the video is just .... weird
Through the whole interview*
Carlos has to get rid of those PRS guitars. His tone today is terrible compared to 50 years ago with the Gibson SG.
"Terrible?" SERIOUSLY? I'd hate to be known as the guy who went online to bitch that Carlos Santana's tone was "terrible"...
You’re right. The PRS guitar is great but those pickups are just crap. You can’t fake a vintage Gibson SG with p90 pickups.
@@gregoryz6545 - And you really think that Carlos can't tell the difference? I'm guessing a guy who plays through TWO Dumbles every night has the coin to buy whatever pickups he thinks create the sound he hears in his head - whether or not they're stock on the guitar he's playing. And who knows - maybe he thinks he's gotten everything he could get out of P 90's and wanted to broaden his palate. Or maybe just got sick of being pigeon-holed as having just one signature tone. Just speculating, of course - he and I don't talk much these days...
Sanatana used to play solid state amps! The first ones were made by quilter!!! Jsyk! He can make anything sound good!!!
Quilter amps sound awesome. You don't even have to know how to play guitar to make them sound good
What's with all the 60's era Hindu symbols?
Probably reminds him of the 60's...
Carlos developed an interest for Hindu philosophy around the 1960s/early 1970s. He used to be a disciple of Indian spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy from 1972 to 1981. That's where he got the nickname "Devadip" that you can see on some of his albums. He's always been a really spiritual person which fueled his music pretty much his entire career.
@@bgauthier Oh OK. I have always thought Carlos was an boring over player myself. Interesting to his or anyone's rig though.
This was weird conversation. Thanks for sharing Neil🤦♂️
