👆 So after you've finished smirking at the name (I know - who calls their amp a King Snake?) get ready to fall in love with this small but powerful guitar combo. Designed to capture all the tones that the 1st turned Carlos Santana on to Boogie amps in the first place, the King Snake is a cracking sounding little amp.
Want to know more?? Well follow this link for all the spec, pricing and all that gas. bit.ly/1B0GZA6
This is super limited, Maria Maria, Black Magic Woman, Smooth, Supernatural sounding amp.... So get one before they're all gone.
Cheers to Peter Honore for doing his bestest Carlos Santan impression - I thought he sounded great. What did you think??
BTW - absolutely no pedals were harmed (or used) in this video!
    Cheers
    Lee

i'm a 69yr old guitar player and i've played through most amps. it was my birthday so i bought this amp. owned most of them over the years but not a boogie. here in rip off britain i paid nearly double what the americans pay for theirs. it's the best amp i have ever owned. i love it. what a beautiful sounding amp. it covers all genres.

I spent more on a Marshall stack + a Combo Pedal plus reverb, boost and wahwah + a Gibson LP Studio 2 than I did on my car. £7K for the stack, £3K for the pedals and £1.9K for the LP. That's right nearly £12K just for my gear. My car? Less than £4K. That's Britain for you though.

I like Lee's expression when Peter said 10 watts is for the bedroom. I have a 15 watt amp in my apartment that has never been past 1,5 out of 10, except when I've turned my guitar volume down almost all the way.

When I started watching this video I thought sure Pete and Lee would be the one's to demo this amp but then Lee mentioned that Pete was from his is from before "Peter is from our friends at Boogie" This video is from before Pete joined the team at Andertons. It's cool to see how things change over the years. Glad we got to see more of the Danish Wonder! Oh and this amp is dope!

So I bought mine used for $2700US Jan 2017 and use it in combo with a Helix where some of my patches bypass the preamp and use the power stage and some go in front on channel 1. This is the best sound I've ever had compared to my AC30 mid 90's with massive pedals and channel switching. But I nailed the U2 edge sound with that for rhythm and also through soldano pedal, ethos pedal nailed the santana lead sound. This set up for some reason with the Helix in four wire configuration sounds way better. Even with the U2 thing. The power amp plus the fillmore speaker makes the Helix come alive like no FRFR could come close (used atomic and mission FRFR -mission was way better). I use various strat, PRS Santana MD, EMG pickups, Gretsch setzer, Schon 80's guitars,70's Les Paul std, 70's tele with humbucker in the bridge etc. This helix king snake combo is the best I've ever sounded. Mega versatile. I added a Mesa Theile cab to it and attenuate through a Weber box and OMG! in the 60 watt mode it hits the sweet spot super easy, listenable and musical. I am a tone freak and I don't think I have hit the limit of what this set up can do. Super satisfied man! Thank God!!!!

  • @chrisofnottingham

The Mesa amps may be crazy money but a guitar player I gig with quite a bit has only had one gigging amp (a Mesa Boogie 50W, not sure which model) in 15 years. It always sounds fabulous and it's never run out of volume yet. So if you factor in all the buying and selling of amps you go through when you can't get the sound you want, it works out ok in the long run.

I had an original Mark I back in the 70's. It was serial no. A276. It was a 60 watt with no eq. It came with an Altec 417 that was way too nasel sounding. I put in a D Series JBL but I blew it so I switched to an EVM 12L and never looked back. It was creme color but I got Mesa to send me a black grille. I used to call and talk with Randy and Mike Bendenlli all the time. The even sent me personal pictures. To this day they are still an outstanding company. My biggest regret is selling it to buy a Mark IA.

With the EV12L I could run Vol 1 @ 10, Vol 2 @ 9 and the master on 3 and it was great. I used use an original MXR Dyna Comp for solos and it was killer. None of these extra new wattage and gain switches either.

Thank you for that history, because that’s his claim to fame; Hot Rodding Fender amplifiers. I read that in a Guitar Player Pub. back in 1981-82( somewhere in that era), he was strictly buy direct, with back orders at 6 months. Still is reigning champion( very expensive) of Tube Amplifiers. I hope I win The Powerball someday (😂😂😂😂😂)!! But they are worth it. Matter of fact, we had to go see the group Santana, just to see what it sound like live; unbelievable( no pedals, just straight up footswitching)!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I feel like that thing NEEDS the mid-boost to be footswitchable. Especially with single coils, the super middy awesome lead sound didn't sound very good for rhythms. Killer sounding amp especially for clean and lead, but making at least the mid-boost and maybe gains footswitchable would make it a classic.

  • @James57AOL

these amps have a clean mid oriented overdrive tone that comes in early and stays creamy in spite of thickening tones I m unclear if extra assistance is in the amp itself or the pickups working the amp. I m looking for the tweed and blackface differences on demonstration and a different pick up selection to hear what attributes are rewarded where and why

I'm here 'cause there is a used on up for sale...the demo was pretty good if you like these guys ( i kinda do), and then some guys complain about the tone being so-so...well i got a pretty decent amp and speakers set up for UA-cam, and i had no problem appreciating the deep power of that tone...and who would want to mess with the factory setup swapping out valves and speaker? i guess when the time comes to service and replace, okay, but...anyway, me personally, i would respect the thing as it is for as long as i could considering that price I see of just over two grand used...

I have one. The reason they're so expensive is cause they're handmade, handwired. That's why there are only 400. It's fucking phenomenal...60 watts is fucking enough. I literally destroy ears with this thing. Then I can put a 4x12 cab and switch to 100 watts. The snakeskin reminds me of the California desert. I can understand the hate, but man it's Amazing.
