Superb , ive been using this sander since launch decades ago , its amazing I did end up selling it and moveing on to the cordless version with the a.c adaptor..I also use the 125mm disc version.
I like that the RTS/RTSC have the FastFix feature on the paper. I'm not a fan of the clamp system.many other brands square/rectangular sanders use. Awhile back I picked up the sand paper systainer kit for the ETS/ETSC. I also bought one for the 150mm/6in sanders and I think the math worked out to have some savings over buying the paper and systainer separately. I haven''t done the math on these new kits to see if there is a cost savings or not.
I think you might have these sanders reversed or perhaps I misunderstood your intended use. The DTS is designed to sand into corners/to the edge because the tapered side edge of the pad prevents marring of the adjacent surface. e.g Think removing the glue squeeze out from inside a cabinet box. The RTS is better for finish sanding large flat surfaces.
I figured that. As a novice I wanted to see if the rts can sand corners effectively enough for my use case. The dts appears to be better for corners but it also seems that there is a higher chance that the corner will wear down before the rest of the pad. That seems to be a bit inefficient.
Great little sander, one of my faves from festool. I think I mentioned it, but if festool ever releases a version of this sander with a brushless motor and similar, low profile form factor to the ETS EC sanders, I'd grab it day one. Those sander+abrasive set deals are really decent. You basically save around $100 vs buying things separately. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of how they store the paper in the systainer though; with some shop made dividers, you could fit a lot more if desired. When I bought my ETS EC 150/5, it came with a single sheet of 120 granat as well. Maybe festool stopped doing that? Or maybe it's regional? Thanks for the share!

Nice. I might pick up the cordless option as well.

At first glance it appears to be about $100.00 in savings. I would have to examine the contents of the $200.00 sanding systainers to confirm.
