    Keeping the line was my biggest issue as a novice. It finally clicked when I saw the space between myself and the defender as neutral territory awaiting conquest and whoever claimed it first had the balance advantage. That and learning the nuances of block/charge down to a science

    also pls make a video on dealing with the help D waiting on the paint. Most of the time it's what stifles smaller guards. Alot of guys are great at 1v1 but can't play that well 5v5 cos they not used to all the help defense

    • @Limits6
      @Limits6 2 роки тому

      It's a team game. When this happens it means ur team mates should be free - if the coaching has taught them how to move to the open spot. Than you can assist ur team mate. Teams that do this well perform best. Beat the defender, draw the D, move the ball and get an open shot or lay up.

    so the crossover is actually just a counter, not a predetermined move. when you watch highlights you think like guys like AI predetermine their moves like a game where they just spam the crossover button lol, but in reality it's all a reaction to what the defender does

    Ight so I like to dunk. Slow to fast, boom and exploding to the rim. I like to take contact and dunk. I always get called with a charge. Is it because of the dunk? I slide past their chest and take a bit of contact, I'm called for a charge?

    • @tmiller7004
      @tmiller7004 4 роки тому +1

      not making shooting. that’s key. that way you can track your progress better plus it doesn’t make you feel bad if it takes a long time. I’d recommend shooting about 400-500 shots a day. That means like drills, not just shooting around. also i’m about to turn 15, and this helps me a ton

      400, and once you start getting better and better, you add more makes per day. These makes have to be shots that you would take in an actual game... like stepbacks, off-dribble, pull-up in transition, catch and shoot, sprint layups, and fadeaways. In a game no defender is going to let you jack up a slow-ass shot, you have to work.

    Your so shifty coach. I'm a good perimeter defender that can keep my body in between the offensive player and the basket. But your hesi is on the next level. My secret on defending great slashers are keeping my eyes on their hips. Even if I don't have the bounce to block their shots I can slow them down so that the help defense can block the shot.
