These chats are like a scud missile, once launched you never know where it’s going to go 😂😂😂😂😂
Scud tracked!
I assume they have a general direction
@@thepaintingphase one company i have been using for a few months is world war scenics may be worth giving a try. The snow and Tufts , mud paint and water effect
For a company with bad management GW sure hire nice people; Louise Sugden, Darren Latham, Peachy, Duncan, etc etc. the staff are the heart of the hobby. Great video lads
This is also prevalent in the stores aswell! The stores that don’t stick to the rules with games in store etc normally build a loyal customer base who shop there instead of getting a discount down the road!
It disheartens me that working for them seems to suck all the life and joy out of these good people. Seen it far far too often. GW burns people put like the Imperium burns out Astropaths
@@minishaw280 I've only been to one store and the guy working there just kept chatting with me about night lords for an hour
@@YaBoiVD my old store manager had night lords aswell hahaha
These episodes makes monday worth it.
Very kind.
They do dont they. I have Mondays off so i always try to paint along.
It was very apparent that WH+ was scrambling to hide its lack of content. I think the lowest point was when they were drip feeding us The Exodite barely 10 mins a week. It is nice to have confirmation that they knew it. The Kitbash'd show idea is brilliant and I would have watched the shit out of shows like that. It would have been quite fun to see the games workshop people having fun competing and being creative. Might have reversed the whole narrative around WH+, but then again they'dve risked showing us ya'll's personalities and faces Emperor forbid.
That Charlize Theron comment had me in knots.
Also, no such thing as a guilty pleasure only pleasure.
That's Heresy
Films that make me cry....
Marley and Me.... I can't watch that any more.
Paddington 2 - at the end when he wakes up and his aunt is at the door.... Happy tears every time.
She could captain me anywhere..... (long pause)..... Great? 🤣🤣
The idea of the Perry’s power gaming total war is very funny
I would 100% watch the great british paint off.
It brings me great joy to know that I'm not the only person out there who loved that short story in a White Dwarf from many many years ago about the Tyranids. It was so very well done. Completely sold the existential body horror stuff surrounding a Tyranid invasion.
Shout out to Patrick on the love for the Pottery Throwdown, such a great show!
Also, not ashamed to say I once cried over Victoria Lamb's take on Nork Deddog. It absolutely blew my mind - so much emotion put into one mini!
It's the best of the 3 original Love productions 'bake off' shows. I think I even prefer Sewing Bee to Bake Off, because you realise just how much we take for granted with the complexity of the clothes we wear!
@@DaveWeston I try not to watch sewing bee, not because I don't like it, but because it makes me feel so inept that I can't even see a button on! 😂
Best chat show in the hobby. Keep up the amazing work, lads!
Thanks Brett.
Love you guys, made a much better Monday than I expected!
Can we PLEASE have official Painting Phase pegs?
A pegging game would be fun at a major event... 😂
I have a feeling this is what was hinted at 😉
@@Domstar75 same here, but I'm not sure I can commit to believing...
Genuinely love the show guys, highlight on a Monday afternoon
Oh and the Gav and Bob story made me cry.
I just love these shows! From hobbies to films to just general chat all mixed up makes this awesome!
These continue to be my favorite thing on youtube. You lot are amazing!
ET was also the first film I saw at the cinema that made me break my heart.
Also my first date, with my first wife, was to Saving Private Ryan, that’s opening scene was a metaphor for what was to come 🤣
😂🤣😂
The diversion on the meme just needs to say "another random tangent". Though Jeff mentioning Bad Batch reminded me I need to get caught up, so here goes another tangent for me
Category: get mountain of bits, sketch your desired figure, create it. That's how I do it, and it's a lot of fun! 😜
Thank you so much for the mention guys.... absolutely loving your videos as always, think I need to get all 3 of you on for a game of guess sprue live. Need nurgling tea cosys as merch
The volume of videos you guys are producing is amazing! Very much appreciated
I used to cry a lot watching Disney movies, but the one that still, TO THIS DAY, makes me absolutely bawl my eyes out is Dumbo. The scene where the mother is singing a lullaby to him through the bars of her confinement and you see all the other circus animals sleeping with their mothers and siblings, and Dumbo is all alone, it absolutely kills me. Even typing it out chokes me up.
😢🥲😢
Disney movies also always get me and I think Coco was the worst because I watched it with my daughter 😂
The Ride of the Rohirrim also makes me dry every time
Not a movie but the DS9 episode “Far Beyond the Stars” just wrecked me
these chats are brilliant. They are just the sort of guff a bunch of mates talk of a evening
Base tips and painting techniques loved the end of video with those details
Spot the Peg... audience partition pegging...
I love this show.
Entertaining show as always! Thanks gents!
hello, my name is Steve (for real!) i'm a french canadian and i live at 5 km from a place where they film for the arrival and when i was living in montreal, Denis Villeneuve lived close to my appartment!... too much connection with you guys! have a nice day
Awesome, nice to hear from you Steve.
this was probably the most sidetracked episode i ever saw about the miniature hobby. still worth the watch :D
The painting phase, a quality broadcast that you can bring to work, commute, chores, or especially the shower!
Hahaha
Another great show - thanks, chaps. 👍 Hope to see you at Salute. Come and see The Battle of Dirschau, 1627, on GG06 😀
+1 for Arrival. One of the best and a definite tear-jerker
Jeff calling his dog Mr. Blobby was certainly a powerful decision!
Painting challenge: different paint style on the same model. Slapchop, eavy metal edge highlighting, candy colours, airbrush, contrast only, only 3 colours or painted textures.
I would recommend to everyone "Babylon 5". It has a grand narrative and gets to finish its story. Only 5 seasons and available to buy on UA-cam (at least in Australia)
Been to Salute for many years, mainly for the painting competition, great fun and amazing standard plus a great meeting place for loads of people in the hobby, well worth going.
The sad scene in a movie that broke me, return of the Jedi on endor, when the two ewoks get hit with the laser fire one of them doesn't move in the other one tries to shake his friend to see if he's alive and then starts to cry. Me too.
Sobs in nub nub…
John Hamm in Toy Story "Thats not the name of the pig" lmao Geoff 🤣
Nice relaxed chat as always :) As usual got quite a lot of painting done during it ;)
Thank you! Cheers!
The Merch idea , On track and Side tracked of course. And the Tanks going side tracked. Or Off track haha
Kitbashing show as content with engaging presenters is that goal, would love to see you chaps get it made!
Those White Dwarf short stories are gold! I remember reading the one referenced! One of those WD stories was the one telling the story of how Uriel Ventris became Captain as he was trying to secure/demolish a bridge; it was my gateway drug into reading 40k novels...
C: Bella! Great discussions guys, enjoying the longer videos - Would love to hear more chat about Drukhari and more biscuit reviews
Pat's video editing and quality is superb. Legendary painter Peachy and last but not least Geoff keeping everyone happy with fresh trims! You three are a perfect paint triad!
You’re awesome!
The Dan Abnett short story Peachy mentions is called The Fall of Malvolion and is about the Mordian Iron Guard and the Lamenters. Great story
Thanks.

This concept sounds amazing... I havnt even started the video yet lol.
Can just picture it... hurry and make it please..
Patrick looks like a tiny adorable lumberjack
You see his ‘Fisher Price My first lumberjack set’ it’s so cute.
Omg. Please do The Great British kitbash.
I would even love to see the three of you do it, and maybe the community could vote for the winner.
Beneath the plaid you all rocking the knitwear sweaters instead of hoodies is great too. (commitment to cookies also)
I dream of a week where we'll get one of these shows every day. I adore you three (and your guests) and the randomness and all-over 40K-ish coverage gives me great pleasure.
Also: 🎶You can't take the sky from me...
Brown Coats All the way.
@@thepaintingphase Aw, you guys! That was right in the feels. ☺️🤎
Fun fact: the opening crawl text for Attack Of The Clones includes this erroneous sentence "Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic."....
I can't wait to see you guys in Sheffield. I go to Chillcon every year and it's always a great event.
I had to put my paint brush down I was laughing so hard at one point! 😂
Great British Paint off? I mean it sounds nice but a Warhammer themed Scrap Heap Challenge would be right up my street 😁 "This week is Steam tank week!"
That would be cool! Get a scrap daemon as a reward too 👍
Oh Geoff, you’re a national treasure with that Jon Hamm/Toy Story reaction, and Charlize Theron . . . that says it all!
Finally got a chance to listen to this and was not disappointed, Mr Peachy the short story you are thinking of is The fall of Malvolion.
WD 255 one of my favorite short stories.
Inside No. 9 S4 E2 Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room had me in tears, could not continue for several days
Brilliant episode. Very clever guys.
Movie that broke me in
Recent memory: Old Man Logan. My dad had just had a stroke I was trying to balance everything, work, home, dad care. I was feeling run down and wasn’t healing like I used to and wasn’t getting enough rest. I took a half a day for me to go see a movie… about a Wolverine who isn’t healing like he used to trying to care for professor x whose had a stroke 😬🙄😂🤣👌🏼
Tough times, sorry to hear it man.
@@thepaintingphase no worries, its all in the past and you have to know hard times because if you don't, then how would you know the good times ;)
The two bottom from each week have to be each other with the army they’re working on during the competition ! Round one will be a kill team sized squad etc and the points go up and up each week
Cool!
We have GOT to find the name of that Abnett short story. That sounds so class. Keep it up lads!
Its "The Fall of Malvolion" :)
Gentlemen, I've gotten so much painting done as of late thanks to these, keep up the gibberish
Will do!
Calf pumping exercises are vital for anyone sitting for long periods. Heel flat to the floor and lift the toes. Toes to the floor and lift the heel. Do both slowly for 3-4 mins on each leg every so often - good for circulation and reduces chance of DVT
Good shout! Thanks Dave.
Great chat again guys. Hope you have a superb time at Chillcon and Salute. Salute should be brilliant with it being their 50th. Looking forward to tales of people being pegged at conventions. Tabletop Alchemy did a nice little vid advocating getting to those shows to see how wide the miniature world is.
One of the other traits often used to differentiate Low and High fantasy is the prevalance and utility of magic. In Conan, for example, magic is very hard to do and only a handful of people can do it and it always takes big long ceremonies and rituals. In D&D, you still need to have the right talent or heritage but magic is pretty much just "point finger and say die" and it happens. LOTR splits the difference on this - the people who can do magic basically just do it, but you need to be some sort of more-than-human to pull off spellcasting at all, so it's not a perfect dividing line, but "easy and common magic" is still a common trope in High Fantasy.
With this element in play, Star Wars is definitely high fantasy - there are space wizards all over the place - and I think 40K probably is, too, with the psychers.
Also: Nathan Filion of Firefly fame is an Alberta boy who went to college here in Edmonton. When the movie came out, those of us who were hardcore Firefly fans of course went to see it, and we brought along some other friends who hadn't watched the tv show. They largely enjoyed it, but one fellow who had actually gone to college with Mr. Filion said he just couldn't get into it. Apparently the actor Nathan is not that different from the character Mal, and my friend kept just seeing his old classmate instead of submerging into the narrative.
Gods I would watch the heck out of a Great British Paint Off
Topics come and go. The atmosphere is all that really matters.
Docminiature is an awesome chap - fantastic cases too :)
Great and very random chat show tonight.
On the subject of watching stuff while hobbling etc, I tend to have stuff on like this or an audiobook while im painting for an hour or so as I can just listen.
If im building stuff or doing bases etc then a TV show on the background is ideal as you I can pop my head up etc or have it just out of eyeline.
Never watched BattleStar Galactica first or second time around but it is on my list to watch and I have a detachment to build for Xenos Rampant and some Isengard minis may have be winging their way to me to build up and paint.
Keep up the good work, if the conventions weren't to far away I may have popped down, but its a couple hours ride from Durham.
Still, ill be tempted once it warms up a bit : )
Oh Baron’s War! I’m painting up a retinue now, the ruleset is really intriguing.
massive tangent….but are you stoked that an Italian water dog just won the big time at crufts
What I wouldn't give for you to have cut the video dead immediately following "She can captain me anywhere."
Howling 🤣🤣
+1 for chalize theron, steve, i mean jeff... lovely
😂🤣😂
Actually thinking about it. Gravity. Gravity made me and my dad cry in the cinema.
I took my dad to see the film on his birthday when it came out to see it in IMAX 3D at the Wimvledon Odeon.
My dad's birthday is bitter sweet as my sister died of Cot Death (Sudden Death Syndrome it's known as these days) and there's a scene where Sandra Bullock's daughter dies... Neither of knew this was in the film.
Both of just started crying and after the film we sat in the motor in the car park tearing up.
I’m sorry for your loss, that’s terribly sad. Some times a movie just hits in all the wrong places.
Geoff's dog made my morning. That is all :)
🙂🐶🙂
Can't believe you discussed Firefly and Serenity and then talked about films that made you cry... I am a leaf on the wind.............I was broken.
Other acceptable answers include - Transformers The Movie (1986), Schindler's List and Short Circuit 2.
great chat again. really does feel like a couple of mates at the pub chewing the fat. I'll be at chillcon so it will be great to finally meet you lads in person. big loves! 🤘😎🔥
Hell yeah! Come say hi and make yourself known 😍👍
Looking forward to spot the peg!
Thanks Steve!
😂 injuries. I’ve been skateboarding and snowboarding for 35 years. If I wake up and something doesn’t hurt, I think I’m dead 😬
😂🤣😂
tips for the biscuit fund!!! Great work as always Gents
That’s super kind, cheers Mick.
Great show! I would like to know the consumption of cookies per Episode! 😂
High. Very high.
Biscuit presentation and selection was on point this episode, 10/10
The movie that nearly made me cry the most was Armageddon when Liv puts her hand on the screen for her daddy (Bruce Willis).
Urgh, brutal wasn't it. Great pick
A meme or a T-shirt design could be you guys in the style of life of Brian saying “I’m steve and so is my wife
Great!
First it was pegging now we have moved on to rimming!!!! Keep up the good work chaps
We really like to have a varied play list.
Guilty pleasure, hawk the slayer... And I've just got a set of the minis from grinning gargoyle to paint for my birthday too 😊
Did you pick up the recent comic/graphic novel?
@@DaveWeston didn't get it unfortunately might get it at some point.
That looks like a high calibre box of biscuits, just about teased into shot. Noice👌
I love Geoffs (Jeff?) Army stories. Also I demand a Bella cam
Stevie, Dune takes place 10,000 years after the establishment of the Spacing Guild. It is not a direct count from our calendar. And they do reference our Earth in a few ways, one example is the Orange Catholic Bible.
Cheers! That makes a great deal of sense.
About tall military guards... On this one border crossing between South and North Korea, South Korea puts some its tallest guys there, and they're over six and a half feet tall in these big US state trooper aviator sunglasses, lookin tough, while on the other side are these pretty short North Koreans with old uniforms festooned and covered with medals.
Please tell me you planned the ad breaks. Jeff's Charlize Theron gag, 2 seconds of silence and then it cut to an ad break. Absolute genius.
Looking forward to seeing you guys at chillcon, I'm expecting mis-construed references 😁
I think the true sign of age is when you've been sitting in a chair for a while and-without thinking about it-make a noise when you get up 🤔😉
When you drop something on the floor and A. Make a noise retrieving it and B. The floor is getting further away.
I think that short sort was the Lamenters not scythes of the emperor
You start up a Great Mini Bash-Off Challenge and I will work hard for that Peachy "Hollywood Handshake"
The "Peachy Point"?
I, too, am up for the Bash-Off!
@@mo_dakka The Peachy... Peg?
@@LukeGeaney cue spit take
@@LukeGeaney beat me to it!
I was listening but not watching. I heard Peachy mention "scissor manoeuvre", chuckled to myself and looked at my computer to see Geoff red faced trying to hold it together. It's nice to see someone as childish as me 🤣🤣🤣
You can take a boy out of the army but you can’t take the army out of the boy.
Believe it or not Aldi used to sell Disco biscuits 😂
One Sci-Fi TV show that should never have been cancelled, but very few people saw, was Almost Human. Sadly really hard to find now - but it was such good fun and looked great.
Not sure there's a film that's made me cry, but the final book in the Malazan book of the fallen series had be blubbing at the end.
Was almost human with Karl Urban? With his android cop partner? I enjoyed the episodes I managed to find - pat (Steve).
@@thepaintingphase Yes! It was pre-Dredd.
On a side note I'm pretty sure the the short story Peach was talking about with the Nids is The Fall of Malvolion, I remember it vividly as it was in one of my first ever White Dwarfs (or possibly inferno).
Great show guys. Love the general chat and it’s great just to hear you being you! Just a nudge about Firefly. If you like that, watch Cowboy Beebop (anime not live action) which probably inspired Firefly.
I remember reading the short story Peachy mentioned over and over again on the old Warhammer website.
The visual of a PDF trooper firing the stormbolter on their transport ceaselessly as he falls apart from the Tyranid spores clogging the air still sticks with me
