I still can't get over the cooling system alongside the block around obviously to the pump at the front, but the cooling of these engines are really the secret cold air more air higher compression, higher compression more power, with prelofesional head work to get it in and out in massive amounts leads to more power too , unfortunately tensioner are a problem in many engines starts getting very complicated,if I had it my way and no budget I'd put a camless engine using actuators to run valve timing and train one over each valve compressing it as fast as you want,so you have less moving parts less heat in the Moter , priceless for 🐴 Power
The amount of knowledge in that room😮 Nice to see some of top RB and JZ authorities getting on well. Looking forward to that vid of Jay’s first drive of a 600 hp GTR!
Them explaining all the difference in RB blocks and heads makes me happy basically all JZ blocks are the same and practically everything is interchangeable without modification
I think some times people so easily try to compare RB's and JZ's as a Nissan vs Toyota thing, to some how show that toyota make better engines but i think people forget these are 2 completely different generation engines. RB's are essentially the 2nd generation of Japanese turbo engines after the super early late 70's attempts, a true 80's Turbo engine developed in the early 80's and released in 1985. The JZ's didn't come along until 5 years later after killing off their 2nd gen turbo engines with the M motors. The fact that the RB made it til the mid-2000's whilst the 7M was killed in at the end of the 80's says a lot about how impressive the RB really was. The 80's was peak development, and 5 years in the 80's is a huge gap for technology back then.
Nissan engineering back in the day just sounded more manual and handmade.. almost small time back yard’ish.. no big boring perfectly cast engine components.. more raw.. unique.. love it. Obviously it wasn’t a small operation, just old school.
I have to pull up the statement of the RB 6cyl being the best sounding engine of all time. It's sure got a nice note when allowed to flow, but it's not the best sounding engine. I've owned 3 RB26 and RB28 GTRs since 02-, present, plus several RB30 NA and turbo VL Commodores from 96-08. Heard straight pipe to stock. Had all kinds of custom exhausts built by myself, a pipe welder and fabricator. They'd often change after a few months in search of a better exhaust note or power. I still own a mid 2010s built, haltech controlled ~800whp RB28 1992 R32. I still love it 8yrs after the new engine, transmission and running gear upgrades. I even love the sound, but it has nothing on some of the V8, V10, V12s and random engines I've owned, driven or just heard over the years. There's thousands of tough, great sounding 2.5-3.4L+ RB's, but there's several better sounding engines IMO. Someone please cast a twin bank RB30/26 based 6.4L V12. Now that might be the best sounding engine. If not the displacement alone would be heavenly!
I've been wondering if this would go down! BIG COLAB - R.F.B ❤ PRP Keep Pushing the industry Herman! AUZ 6 seconds GODZILLAs DRAG & TRACK. Do both if ya a boss. Laps & Slips baby Let's see the comments 😂
I agree, both the Nissans and Toyotas of the 90s are some of the best cars ever, the Nissan feels a bit better, for most people though they're all good so go with what you like the look of
R32 - R34 GTR's would sell 10:1 over here in Australia back in the 90's compared to the amount of Supras imported. There was so much more demand for GTR's because they were light years ahead in the era as a complete package...
Herman please test bmw m50 iron block and compare it to jz or rb because in europe there is a lot of them being turbo and we would like to hear your opinion.
@timothyrinaldi6609 lol it's funny how Americans laugh at the letter Zed(z). What they don't understand you spell words,Pronounced Letters According to your slaves masters. The English speaking countries say Zed, the spell Colour (color).
Javier doesn't have a RB30. It's a stroked 2.6 to RB28. This guy PRP machines the baddest Nissan blocks on the planet. If you see a five second RB, he most likely had a hand in it.
Actually it's not, it has been Galley forever, look at any literature older than about 1990 & you will see it always be referred to as Galley, any automotive brand that has been around for a long time always says Galley. Just as the Galley feeds the ship the oil Galley feed the engine, I'm with Jay on this.
@extcreat I look at the English dictionary to get my words and expressions correct. Any editor using Galley to describe an oil passage is wrong, probably ignorant, but still wrong. There are no ships kitchens in any of the engines I've disassembled but I'll keep looking.
@extcreat hmm, maybe I'll find some metaphorical ships kitchen's in my engines after that? There might be lots of Penis's (males) and Vaginas' (females), too? If the engine was really meticulously built, I should even find some 'T's and 'i's in there somewhere.
In the US, most people associate a gallery with a small space for viewing artistic works. Depending on your level of mechanical appreciation, I could make an exception for Gallery, but Galley is the automotive term most engineers will abide by (at least in the English-speaking disciplines, as that term is used specifically) to mean "a passageway; for transport".
@@showtimespeedshop last i heard they were finalising the tooling and machining. They showed a near completed prototype at gtr festival Australia and engine testing and finalising will be over the next couple months.
The bottom end they demonstrated, is to handle 1500hp to the hubs. It's not ideal to skimp on cheap parts at that point of an engine build, where most of the cost would be block inspection, machining and assembly.
Lmao. Australia has more five and six second RBs than JZs lol. The fastest IRS AWD car is RB powered. So stop talking like a JZ can make 1200 on stock internals lol
This is the collaboration I didn't know I needed. 2 engine masters form 2 continents working together, priceless! Thank you very much TRC!
Yeah bro, 2 legends!! What’s up @prp Herman , great Job lad 😎
Best video I've seen in quite some time. The content was solid; ball breaking solider; 2x Buc-ees shorts... concrete.

"I know what 6 inches is but not 9" damn near spit out my food lol
These two are hilarious 😂😂😂
Jay and Herman are my absolute favorites to listen to!
2J Guru and RB Guru.... Epic veiwing for the die-hard old school 90's Japanese car enthusiast..
God old Herman giving an Aussie language lesson. " What do you call it when you're totally lost control" lol every Aussie would say the same lol
You're Fu$cked is pretty universal over here too lmao. Amazing how universal that word is haha.
The Bucky's shorts L O L
*BUC-EE'S*
I think he forgot his jeans pants
Herman’s famous for his goofy shorts 🙂
Badass

Isn't the main reason people do 1.5 is the stuff doesn't swap between heads?

As long as we acknowledge 2j is by far a better engine and stronger from the start.
Gtr is king 🤴 still
Jay & Herman has to happen again!
Man I would watch a whole series with these two in it… love the vibes of two masters at work !
Seeing you two together was amazing!! Awesome video guys!!!
Two artists at work - love it.
Can’t wait to get the new blocks from Herman
Two masters of their craft. Great vid
HOLY CROSOVER. Never imagined these 2 legends together.
You can see/feel the RB vs JZ tension between them 😂😂😂 RB all day
Nah JZ just far less shite to go wrong.
Far more aftermarket available, now the Dart JZ blocks are available 1800hp. JZ forever. 😊
Great video two smart guys that know everything lol it's hard for me to choose but that RB sound is just too hard to beat.
One of the best vids I’ve seen on UA-cam honestly soooo interesting thank you 🙏
These guys are very knowledgeable about both platforms and I'd definitely love to see more videos of these guys together talking about 2j's and rb's
"The GTR just feels niiiice".... couldn't agree more mate!
I remember jay talking about doing an rb with TRC from Adrew (Motive)'s video where he visited RSP and was eagerly waiting for this one
What a legend teaching another legend!! In gas station shorts!! Mad respect lad!!
So cool to see the expert RB stuff. Thanks!
Looks like you had some fun with the lingo “ Jay needs an invite to GTR festival, he’d be blown away 😎🤠
I'll be out in Texas for that show!
Two of the best engine builders in the world together. The R32 is going to be insane.
Pound fir pound it's hard to beat a JZ. Must be why there's more 5 and 6 second RB cars than JZ cars in Australia. PRP is the GOAT
Nissan engineering back in the day just sounded more manual and handmade.. almost small time back yard’ish.. no big boring perfectly cast engine components.. more raw.. unique.. love it.

Rb for the win 💪
We need an entire RB30 build in depth from start to finish from PRP with Real Street Jay. Please do this while the Aussies are here in NA.

Happy to see both of u
😃💯great job to all you guys
I’m still a 2JZ man but So Great to see you guys sharing and enjoying your craft
Want more of this content 😃👍
RBs are tough, but Buc-ees shorts are so much tougher.
Props on the buccees swim trunks
I've been waiting so long to see an Aussie RB in that gtr

That colab gave me the warm and fuzzies. Awesome content, two awesome guys who are masters of their craft - can’t wait for next vid
It's the Buc-ee's shorts and 1/2 studs for me. Slowly converting the Aussie 😂
YES, please make a girdle for the JZ...Please YES!
we need a jay reaction vid of him in a 700hp gtr now
Nothing better than a fire breathing rb
"I know what 6" is but not 9""
Hahaha. 😂
Tell us on the piston compression names Rods clevite bearings etc. 20:59
RB26 keeps on keeping on. Another great I6
Love how jay ninjas in touches the edge of fuel pump to see if it's level with the block absolute ledge
Can you give me an idea on a sump pump 18:51
This episode is fire
Lol 😹 "Mid-evil Contraptions"...am sure there's some backyard mechanics outhere that would use a spoon and butter knife, if they have too! Lol 😹
Legend of Aussie car scene
If mankind was like this two platforms going together with two master builders
I loved watching knocking the wood with the hammer trick and watching all the dirt and sawdust go flying into the engine @14:50
Now if only Herman could find a way to make these engines not cost as much as an entire 6 sec coyote mustang build.
Yeah herd that ,im from Australia the prices they push is a joke
great camera quality
Ow boy I now that was coming.🔥💯
I love the sound of the rb, but the Jz is sooo much better
Its the Buccees shorts for me
What torque wrench are these two masters using? @TRC?
2 masters at work
12:12 Ask him about the letter H. For more laughs.

I love my evo 9 Mr, but I wish I had a r32 and a r34 beautiful car ❤️
This is great stuff
Would have liked to hear what your final oil clearances are in the rod and main bearings. Otherwise good!
Herman please test bmw m50 iron block and compare it to jz or rb because in europe there is a lot of them being turbo and we would like to hear your opinion.
Need the entire engine put together.
Coming soon! 😎

Sound like American saying JC and Australian saying JZ

Reminds me of This Old House. This should be called "This Old Block"
@ 14.50 min mark......does anyone know more details about this method? Can it be done on all engines?
I use a rubber mallet, I do recall using a 2x4 as a kid.
Is Jay now with FFRE?
No, he’s just reppin an FFRE shirt😎 He has a great relationship with FFRE through their coyote program.
@@ThatRacingChannel awesome.
Holden 1856 RB30DET 20:08
This is an awesome video … but wow the assembly of the RB is much more complicated than a JZ lol
Do a TB48 next please
Better collaboration than 2 JZ's and Nas.
#JayMeagher how am I supposed toget help where I been sick to do a build on a dart block for a B series HONDA WITH SIME PARTS IVE HAD 21:14
Buc-ees swim shorts ftw
S20 is the best sounding 6 of all time i reckon. but rb with a single has gotta be #2
Powered by Beaver Nuggets.
Whats wrong the RB30 thats already in Javier's Skyline?
I guess it’s time for a rebuild. And the reason for a new block would just be ease of mind for longevity because they have data on the new block.

Looks very expensive to build this platform lol, lots and lots of custom work. But he was right, they sure do sound good.
Hopefully us Americans will get to work and someone like Dart will make a block like they’ve done for the jz with the iron eagle
PRP is currently making a new cast and upgraded rb26 block
