I loved the Northwest in September - 25 years ago - on a visit. I keep coming back to watch it again... The soothing echoing voices of forlorn sprites and fairies, then the rumbling, like on the Shining! -Hauntingly exhilarating... in the best ways. And, I live on Maui, yet remember the beauty... looking just as you have captured here... Wowww!

I was flying over Seattle, the plane was heading towards Tacoma airport, when taking a look outside. I saw nothing but a cloud cover and a great beautiful mountain breaking through it. I didn't even know about that mountain, it was an incredible sight.
@@ChristianSchaffer I didn't either, otherwise I would have seen the fantastic scenery coming. I just asked my neighbor, if I could took a look since we went for landing. So I leaned over him, watching through the small window, and couldn't believe that incredible sight. That volcano was so mighty. And that's not all. A minute later, he said "look at that". I took a look again, a small hole opened in the cloud cover, exactly over the space needle, it was unbelievable, like in a bad movie. My neighbor, he was from the U.S. national team in chainsaw sculpture carving (didn't even know that exists) said "it's so great to be at home again" (he was on a championship, I think in Russia). I was so jealous, Seattle seamed so beautiful and magic, and he was at home there. That was 2015, I was traveling on a conference. I'm a migrant in Germany and there's no place I feel so belonging to like that guy in that moment. I fell in love with Seattle then, and now I understand why there are so many love and drama movies playing there, I notice them on TV at least twice a year since then.
I see where you've been and it makes me appreciate what you do. We should all stop and just admire what's around us. No matter how big or small, the world is just magnificent!! Thank you for sharing it's true beauty and wonder!!

@@ChristianSchaffer It is. The light is more diffuse this time of year but that’s where the Blue Ridge Mountains get their name. I think we don’t have the pinks that I see in your photography.
Thank you for the great video. I grew up in CA but now live in Wales with my wife. When people here ask me what I miss about the States think look at me weird when I say "mountain". They have nice foot hills, but no mountain like you have in the States. After being away from the States for 7 years, my family came back to CA in 2019. One of the first place we visited was Sequoia and when I got there it was the first time in year I had felt peace with myself.
Beautiful! I have found myself mountain biking as the dusk grows darker. I'm not much of a singer, but I sang my heart out to warn the lions away. My favorite song that popped into my head during those times was from Wizard of Oz, "If I only had a brain." Making up new lyrics kept me entertained. Be safe out there! ❤️
Totally agree with your headlamp strategy Christian! I only wear one when I absolutely need it. In most cases, I can see better without it and have more awareness of everything around me.
Amazing shots. I spent much of my childhood summers in or around the Sunrise area of Mt Rainier NP, so this really brought me back. I could almost smell that alpine atmosphere. Thanks.
