We’re performing a 100 hour service on our Yamaha F50 in this video from Boats.net. In the video, see how to change the oil on your Yamaha F50. The oil capacity of a Yamaha F50 if 2.22 quarts, and we’ll use a Yamaha oil change kit to get the oil changed and get the oil level set properly.
Next, we’ll show you how to change the gearcase fluid on your Yamaha outboard. We’ll show you where to find the drain and the vent bolt, and we’ll also show you why you need to use a hand pump to refill the gearcase with fresh lube.
Then, we’ll change the fuel filter then change the fuel/water separator filter on our Yamaha outboard. We’ll wrap the project up by greasing the tilt/trim tube and checking the tilt/trim fluid.

Best Video on this topic on youtube!! Thanks for making it!
This is a great video on the oil change i have followed your lead an implemented the hose an barb idea , i would have left it draining and changed the filter while it was still in the lowered position ,ive seen a lot of videos on doing this but one thing i have always done with cars bikes is remove the filler cap and also the dipstick .
Excellent video, thanks. The barbed drain hose trick is great, as well as the sequence you go through with the gear case oil change. I've been maintaining my F50 TLR for five seasons now, and I can definitely say those tips will help me this fall. I would also add a step to check the lower unit holding pressure (after draining it) using a small bicycle pump. There's a spec for that in the service manual.
Great video! Thanks. I would like to have seen a part on what to do if the trim fluid is low.
very well explained, thank you
Thank u gör information
Good video ty
Im gonna go ahead and say great video. ta
Great video! Thanks, I picked up a couple good tips. Especially about trimming all the way up before draining the oil. I see you have a stainless prop. What is the pitch and model number of the prop? Thanks again.
Great video but when I tried to fill the gear oil in the lower unit with the same oil and pump and system you have, it stopped pumping at about 75% of the quart without spilling out of the top hole. Now what do I do? I'm finding trouble determining the gear oil capacity to know if there is enough oil in it.
What is clear (pink) tube on starboard side of motor lying inside motor maybe lying in exhaust manifold?
Are there two fuel filters plus the separator on the yamaha or one fuel filter plus the separator?
Is there a difference between F50TLR and F50AETL ?
Anyone know what size and pitch the house barb that was used?
I don’t see an oil filter for my 03 tlrb. Is that a thing?
How to set mixture screws on 50 horse 4 stroke boat motor the year is a 99
I’ve been changing the spark plugs with my 100 hour service, is that not necessary?
Gear case oil looked very milky . You have to replace the seals?
The yamalube looks like that. It’s not green like the quicksilver sae90
Its an impact driver not an impact hammer
Don't forget to add some oil inside filter and on seal, prevent dry start.
What thread size is the barb oil drain fitting?
Did you ever find out? I assumed it was a hose fitting like for an air gun.

that gear case oil was very milky.
That’s how the yamalube looks. It’s not green like the quicksilver sae90
This guy should just 'go ahead' and do the job with a little less talking.
