Thank you for the detailed approach going step by step without the rush. So many tutorials seem to be rushed and steps skipped. More info is always better than less it gives a better idea in real time of what will happen and what comes next.

Thank you so much for a great video and clear instructions. I did my first own service last weekend on my 2008 F115, and everything went really well! Removing oil filter is quite messy, so be careful with that everyone, as quite a lot of oil comes out. Put a lot of rags/paper towel underneath and remove the filter slowly.
About the oil level, the owners manual on my motor doesn't say anything about tilting the motor up, and then down before checking the level, so I went with what the manual said.

I have an old "Oil Change/Lube" video that I review before doing the annual service. This one is more detailed. I'll use this one next year. The list of tools/supplies is going to save time in gathering everything before I start too.
I pretty much do the same thing as you with my motor. Good idea with poking a hole in the filter I'll try that next time

Dave, nice that you want to help folks but there are a couple of critical things you did not include. #1 being the torque spec for the oil drain plug. On the current (2019) F 150, 200 it is only 20 ft lbs of torque. Many DYI'ers tighten the oil plug to much and strip our the plug in the aluminum pan. Healey coils can leak and this simple problem can turn into a nightmare. Also you did not replace the crush washer with a new one. Reusing a $.25 crush washer can cause oil to leak. another potentially troublesome but preventative issue. Hope this helps someone.

This is a how to video but at 11:00 we can't see where you are pouring the oil. Some know for sure but for those who don't that would be helpful
You should always put oil in filter before install . Dry starts kill motor

I'm not familiar with that brand. If anything, I'd use Yamaha additives.

I generally service mine in October or November. I like to have fresh oil and lube in my motor over the winter when I'm not fishing as regularly.
Why does the oil level have to mark at the halfway point? Shouldn’t it read higher on the dipstick? Great video, by the way. Thank you.
The recommendation is that the oil reads between the high and low marks on the dip stick. Yamaha says that the low mark does not represent that you're one quart low like a car. They stress that you should be very careful not to overfill. Therefore, if you fill the oil between high and low you don't need to attempt to "top it off".
@@DavidPyle right on. So as long as you’re between the “high/low” levels, you’ve properly filled the engine with oil. That’s good to know. Thanks for the response and video.
18:02...Why wouldn't you just put plug in bottom and fill from the top so you wouldn't have to lose any oil when taking bottom plug out after filling??
A good question. Pumping from the bottom is said to push the air bubbles out. It's always been done this way for that reason.
Does the air in the water fuel separator cause any issues starting the motor?
No, the fuel water separator doesn't restrict the flow of fuel at all.

Make sure that this is the correct kit for your motor.
Is this outboard a V2 or V4 stroke ??? Also, how about the greasing the other moving parts???
It's a 4 stroke motor. Yes, there are grease fittings that get topped a few times per year.
Is this what a 20 hour service on a 250 would be?
Yes, as a matter of fact I just bought a new 9.9 high thrust. The dealership told me that I need to drop the oil and lower gear case lube. They said there could be some "shavings" stuck to the magnetic lower unit drain plug but there should not be chances of metal (ouch). After our snow and ice storm clears I'm going to start my 10 hour break in period.

I don't fog the motor because I use it year round.

Shop rates are about $150 per hour.
What happened to the salmon fishing vids?
I had planned on fishing for silvers but the run prediction was way off and I just didn't feel like traveling to B10 or above Bonneville for a handful of fish was worth it. I've been doing some catch and release sturgeon and hope to do some steelhead fishing this winter. Thank you for watching.
