- We found this yard recently and thought for sure no one lives there by the looks of it. Turns out after a conversation with the guys who mows next store there is a man who actually lives here. The guy next store almost didn't believe us when we said we mow for free and when the owner came to the door he kept asking us “are you sure there is no charge” and was just as shocked as the other guy to find out that we don’t charge. Anyway, we are going to start today by cleaning up the trash that has been thrown into the yard, we will then get these edges trimmed nicely and work our way to the bushes and the lawn. This one really turned out great so make sure you stick to the end to see the before and after pictures. I can't get a neighbor to drive me 2 blocks up the hill to the little store (can't walk it anymore) without them expecting something in return...even if they were headed that way already. You’re good people. That is “old school.” When I was a boy (now 65), my dad would tell me to cut and trim the neighbor’s yard because they were 70+. The old woman would pay me with home-made cookies. God, I loved them. I was happy to help. We don’t have that behavior anymore. You’re a great dad👍
Yes That is the way I was brought up too. As a young woman I cleaned houses for a living. But I always had my little old ladies, I would take care of on my way home. I came to dearly love these ladies, they felt like family to me. Now I am the little old lady. I cant tell you how this blessed me I sure wish I could get out and do this kind of work, all day. The rewards in heaven for this, I know you dont do it for the reason; but they are there, This is the kind of thing Jesus said to do. Serve God bless you boys!
It's true here in Africa we grew up as family. As kids your neighbours were also your parents and guardians. They had the right to rebuked you. Now peoplenjust walk around and ignore things even if it's not right 🙏

I did, for 32 years, whenever 3 could. Then 3 got iln, i'm in bed since about a bit more than 2 years now. One of my neighbours helps me in the front and sometimes around my garden. I heard from my caring diakonie-care sisters. Otherwise 3 wodldn't have known. I'm so thankful!

Our whole block takes care of our resident "lonely old lady." She always has someone to help her with mowing, plowing snow, small repairs. It is really uplifting to see.
I will be 69 next month and my mom is 95 I try to do the upkeep of mine and her yards. It is difficult because I am not in the best health but I do it. Thank you to this man and sons for helping people that need it.
Your "resident lonely old lady" is VERY lucky!! I'm a "Long-COVID" survivor, nearing 80, who lives alone. I KNOW how valuable your gift is!! I have a neighbor who lives one street away, but helps me get groceries every few weeks. Another, who lives next door, gripes incessantly about my yard, porch &/or car. The latter hounds me about not washing my car often enough to suit her, but she's detached my hose from the spigot & moved it to the far side of my property (beyond my scope of mobility). She also gripes that I have a box on my porch w/a rotation of canned goods as an extended pantry & maybe 2-4 bottles of Coke alongside it because so many trips into my house after grocery shopping wear me out. I simply have to concentrate on getting refrigerated items inside & put away. When I'm able to pick up fallen tree limbs or branches & drag them to the curb for pickup, I find she moves them back from the roadway, often up into the middle of my yard, too far from the curb for the City to pick up, & she moves my trash can 10-15 feet further away from my limit of walking or puts it directly behind my car, so I can't come or go!!
The 1st neighbor has NO IDEA, but I've put her in my WILL; the 2nd neighbor, I trust GOD will reward accordingly!!

As an older woman, you really don’t know how much what you do is appreciated! I ended up leaving my house because I just couldn’t do all the upkeep by myself anymore. I was lucky enough to have a young man that came and mowed when it got to bad. He wouldn’t let me pay him either. So you and your sons have all the blessings coming your way. 🙏

Yep! Poor man probably was afraid to open the door back up for fear they would then ask for money. It’s sad but it’s a testament to the world we live in these days. That said, how happy he must have been to see his yard nice and clean!
I was thinking the same thing. From the distance he looks just like my late Poppy, hits home when you think of elderly people you love in that situation and how they might react. I'm glad they were able to reach out to this fella :)

Not only is the father teaching his son’s compassion and work ethics by giving back, but we were all built to do a lot more physical labor than most do today. It’s good for boys and men.
U have to always remember that old people have a hard time hearing and they take naps during the day plus go to bed early. Great Work 👍
They also have issues with mobility that makes getting around difficult and yard work an impossibility.
I'm also an older woman with mobility issues I have to walk using a walker. I live alone. My son lives 2 hours away and cuts my grass once a month. I also survive with S.S. so I can't afford to pay anyone for lawn care. So I greatly appreciate the plight of these older people that you help. God bless you and your sons.
Really? My friend is 82 And she not only hears fine, she hears better than I do, but she stays up half the night. She doesn’t go to bed early. She may take a nap now and then but rarely! Just saying, not old people are always old!
Plenty of seniors stay up all hours of the night and sleep late too.
Please don't stereotype older adults!!!! I'm in my 70's, my hearing amazes the doctors, I stay up very late (into the morning hours) because I don't want to waste my life sleeping,I don't take naps, I like my music loud so I can jam to it but I do have mobility issues due to bad knees. But most of all I HATE doing yard work, it's not my choice of enjoyment. So having someone do my lawn is a blessing in more ways than one.
Maybe this gentleman just wanted to be left alone so please don't put seniors in a stereotypical box, a lot of us are completely self sufficient!!!!

When i was 50, i decided I should buy my own house. I got in there and cleaned the whole back yard by myself. Now, I'm in my 70s and don't have the energy or strength I used to have. But, even with just SS, I am able to afford a lawn care service. They are good to me. Not every older person can afford lawn care, so people are blessed when young men like these two help out. What a blessing. 😊

LOOK!!" I sat down w him on the couch n realized how magnificent this is - for everybody involved. 69 years young, and I recently had a man and his son do something similar. Not free, but very reasonable. Also with his son. Do what I can myself but just can't afford a gardener.
I'm 61. When I was 8 and my grandmother was 61 an old man rejected by his children moved into the bungalow next to us.
He was a ww2 veteran. Very depressed widower.
My gran rolled her sleeves up and decorated his bungalow for him.
She had 9 grandchildren she knitted jumpers for so time was precious. It was a good life lesson. And she never told people what she had done.

I turned 67 a few days ago. After an allergic reaction to a new medication, I had to be hospitalized for ten days. A few of my neighbors stepped right up and took great care of my little dog, coming over three times per day for her. I don't have family so this was especially appreciated.

They get the title based off speaking with the guy from the competing landscape company that come over to talk to him while he is sitting in his truck after knocking on the door to the house the first time.
They discuss if anyone lives there, and it's off of this guy that says he's mowed the neighbor's yard for several years that he "hasn't seen anyone in the entire time he's been cutting the neighbor's lawn."
So he's talking about him personally, in a roulette type chance, mowing say once a week at best for an hour a week at the longest. That leaves 167 other hours each week when the old man could come outside to grab the mail, pick up a newspaper, let in his relatives, go out back and get in that minivan parked in front of the garage in the side ally and drive to the store.
Take that and stick it where the sun don't shine, up your behind!
You are teaching your son what it is to go out of your way to help others , that's priceless. God bless you richly.

yeah. They got consent to work on the lawn with a verbal agreement that it is all free. All the extra work likely seemed too good to be true. They went far beyond merely cutting his lawn. It likely looked more like a scam than something genuinely gratis. If they let him know that they also record it for youtube and get a little income through that, he'd likely be less skeptical. I'm sure the millions of views on this video translated to far more than the $100 or so they could get from 1 customer for this type of job.

I’m sure when he heard the knock, he probably thought he would have to tip them or that they might ask for something in return. “If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is”. Well, not in this case, thankfully. I kinda felt sorry for the guy.. I’m sure he was grateful, even tho he didn’t actually say it. ☺️

Right I mean lots of folks my self at times even needed help big time and if people wouldn't have been wise enough and tactful enough I would have responded vary poorly to even the suggestion of there help and would have been in no way conviencable that they would do yard work for free ,these cats are living proof that it aint allways about money sometimes its about doing good by those near you and making the world in you're direct touch capability a gooder place

So many elderly and disabled are unable to do any yard work. And then they sometimes get a fine from the city because of it. What you guys do is WONDERFUL.

I am a woman soon to be 75 and not in the best health. It's so hard to find anyone to mow my lawn. The cheapest I found is $50 a wk so I just have him mow twice a month. I feel fortunate to get that help. You're doing a spectacular thing helping people in need. The best to you and your family.

I am 84 years old and was thrilled and encouraged to watch this video. I had just returned from voluntarily collecting rubbish in my village in N Thailand where I have retired. It has taken me about one year to convert it from a rubbish dump to a clean area; now many of the villagers are following this example. Initially, I took two hours, three times a week. Now I go for about one hour once a week and that seems to be sufficient. If the world population could spend just one hour a week helping others, the planet could be beautiful and peaceful.

You’re probably right, but it’s possible he was overwhelmed by it all. Someone who hasn’t been seen in years suddenly blessed in such a huge way is a lot to process.
My thought exactly. After witnessing his demeanor throughout the first interaction, at least what’s shown, I would bet that he very much wanted to somehow tangibly acknowledge the extreme efforts demonstrated here. In my mind this man is somewhat overwhelmed and just cannot bring himself to simply say “thanks” and close the door. He might be very empathetic and that’s all.
Th guy might be like so many other old people deaf . maybe he has Alzheimer's or other health problems, he won't answer a door if he can't hear anyone knock, but I bet he's really thankful for everything you and you're boys did for him. And so are we .thank you so much .
All the noise outside probably traumatized him.
In my community in Africa, the whole neighborhood would be at this man's house checking on him and helping him.

These are Men after my own heart. I've always been the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off my back and my last dollar if you needed it. I have tried to instill that compassion in my children and grandchildren, but this world makes the draw their "antenna" in and keep themselves safe. This would be such a beautiful place to live if more people had this kind of love in their hearts and compassion for their fellow man in their Souls
You and your sons are truly a blessing. This is what the world needs more of and it teaches kindness, values, work ethics, joy, patience, love and peace. I commend you dad for being an example to your sons of loving your neighbor. I was so touched because I’m 62 years young and I was in a 5 bedroom corner house with a big front and backyard and I had to do it alone or pay someone when I could afford to. It’s not an easy job. As I was watching I’m waiting and asking myself is anyone going to bring them something to drink. If I was the neighbor next door, down the street I would stop and ask…that’s just me, but good neighbors are few and far between. You and your sons be blessed a hundredfold
Yes, I thought one of the neighbors might have offered drinks. Or even the homeowner could have told them they could have water from his hose or kitchen, but others don't always do what we think they should - maybe he had reasons we don't understand.

Our whole block takes care of our resident "lonely old lady." She always has someone to help her with mowing, plowing snow, small repairs. It is really uplifting to see. ❤

as a resident old lady, I am sure she appreciates it and asks God to bless you. someone recently ran over my mailbox. on Christmas day my son and son in law went out to fix it just to find that it had already been repaired by my neighbor. This world is full of really good people if only we outnumbered the really bad ones.
