  • Buying a PC second hand comes with its risks, there is the unknown of whether the PC fully functions correctly. In this case i purchased a budget custom water cooled gaming PC and the gaming PC had a bunch of dirt, liquid and dust everywhere we do not know yet if we were scammed, however we will do our best to fix up this PC and deep clean it as best we can.

    The yellow stickiness is from cigarette smoke. Nicotine stains yellow and is extremely sticky and dust builds up on it like glue.

      My parents smoked in their house for years and when it came time to clean the mini blinds it took soaking them in the tub in pure bleach to get that crap off. So glad the wife and I quit smoking.

      @@LastExile1989 my wife took chantix. I'm one of those people that is able to just put them down and not pick them back up again if I choose not to. The trick is to keep your mind occupied and try not to think about it until you get passed the physical withdrawals.

    You absolutely got your money's worth, even if the motherboard had to be replaced. The hardware for the custom cooling loop alone was probably worth that much. That stuff is not cheap. Seeing all the crap that came out of the cpu and gpu blocks makes me glad I decided not to mess with water cooling.

      the only issue I see here with the water cooling gear are those EK classic tube fittings, EK have stopped making them, the last couple of years before they tried to force people into using those awful quantum fittings, the quality was so bad that they didnt even brand the classic fittings with the ek logo, their PETG tube quality is pretty crap these days as well.

    Really inspirational video. I have often considered buying old broken systems to try and salvage as much from them as possible. I think you said you paid $20 for this which to me sounds like an absolute steal considering the amount of parts that were fully functional by the end of your cleanup operation. Very impressive work guys, very, very impressive indeed.

    just in case anyone needs to know. if you have an old system with liquid that has dyed your clear hard tubing, run dawn dish soap with distilled water to clean off the dye.

    I've got an O11 Dynamic XL with rads in the top and bottom. I clean it out every couple of weeks, so it's pretty clean. It could use some upgrades once I can afford it. It's running an 3900x with an RTX 2080.

    All the pc parts gung-ho aside, those ROG Maximus mobos definitely has some charms of being so buff hardware wise it felt like it compliments the rest components around it, like it's the best thing about Asus ROG boards.

    If all fans were exhaust, then how did they get clogged with dust? And how did dust end up on the inside of the case if there was constant underpressure? Something doesn't add up here.

    Have you ever consider use Ultrasinic cleaner for some components like the coling transfer plate or such ? It might be one tool to add to your work shop. But excelent job

    Toilet boil cleaner will instantly get rid of hard water on the inside of that radiator. Don’t let it sit tho. Do it very quick. Works like magic

    3:20 there are no stains due to the fact that the "coolant" was just tabwater with Red DYE. Also explains the rust.

    Hello. I just want to ask. I'm watching how you apply thermal paste to the CPU and I think it's not quite right. Did you then try to remove the cooler again and see where there were free spaces on the CPU where the thermal paste did not reach? I recommend spreading the thermal paste evenly over the entire surface of the CPU. This will ensure that the entire surface is free of air bubbles.

    I have BitFenix Neos with only two fans, and it is dusty. I try to clean it up with vacuum cleaner because I don't have any compressed air. CPU cooler and fans need cleaning badly.

    I have the exact Gigabyte MB and the same cpu. I also have the C0 code and my comp runs just fine. The only issue I have with this board is the onboard audio card sometimes bugs out and turns the volume to max and you have to reset the computer to resolve the issue.

    On hardware and non-porous surfaces, hydraulic fluid will remove rust and stains. Just can't leave it on long enough for it to stain lol.

    should try 35% Hydrogen Peroxide its what you use to clean out sewer lines breaks and destroys grease and other stuff but recommend gloves and masks its also great for tile to whiten grout

    I'd never buy anything with an old Gigabyte motherboard, however nice board upgrade :) Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero? If you look hard enough you can find 6700k for $100aud usually on gumtree, delid, liquid metal and can get 4.7 to 4.8ghz overclock stable :) Would be cool to see some tweaking happening, watched 2 of your rebuilds so far and that's the only detail lacking everything else is spot on man!

    You have to go into 2nd hand systems assuming something needs replacing and don't pay more than the sum of the parts minus the most suspect but, usually the motherboard.

    retro hardware showed for rads with corrosion inside , you need to run citric acid and baking soda threw it and i have a 3 pack of those thermaltake fans still in use

    I would have kept one of the NVMe drives in for the OS and basic programs then used the 4TB for everything else. Other than that, not bad considering the motherboard was goosed.

    Mate , why you didnt put better cpu like 7700k or i heard that on this chipset can put modified bios and 9900k
