Buying a PC second hand comes with its risks, there is the unknown of whether the PC fully functions correctly. In this case i purchased a budget custom $50 gaming PC and the gaming PC had a bunch of dirt, liquid and dust everywhere we do not know yet if we were scammed, however we will do our best to fix up this PC and deep clean it as best we can.

When you said the guy had the motherboard screwed directly to the case, without the special screws, I knew it was dead.
That 850w power supply is worth more then the all components 😅
. . . Most stuff may be washed with pine spray cleaner, then scrubbed and mercifully rinsed out & dried out in the oven at 125 degrees Fahrenheit . . . 🎉 ❤

If there were no motherboard standoffs, how did the rear IO match the cutout in the case?
Honestly no idea haha, but i would imagine that the back of the motherboard was sitting on the case and that shorted it out which is why we had a dead motherboard
no standoffs?! .. few of my customers did the same thing .. all their boards fried! they thought of assembling their own pc ..

I hate cleaning out my PC, because I don't know or am afraid to take any of the parts off, lol. SO I do my best, but mine has never looked that bad. I need to get better at doing the cleaning stuff though, because yours turned out so well and mine looks clean but there is still dust I can't get to.
Yeah it can be abit scarey but hopefully by watching a couple of youtube building tutorials you will know how to put it back together.
You can even use abit of tape to lable the cables to help you out qbit

The last owner bolted the mobo to the case. Might have buggered the board doing that. Might try setting up and testing the board outside the case before discarding it.
Bolting the mobo straight into the case without standoffs likely caused it to short out at some point.

Since the power button cables were broken and needed to be re-soldered, I wonder if the original motherboard was actually fine and just never got signals to power on?

ADVICE NEEDED- PC wont boot into windows it powers on but can not seem to get into windows, I've tried reinstalling windows using the media creation tool and selecting it as the boot option in the bios but still nothing. please someone help
The 200 gb was for the os I like to have separate storage. I could still be wrong though
Oh my goodness where did you get that. I really think it's one I built and sold on eBay forever ago. The mismatched ram gave it away. That's the case mobo gcard everything. I think I got some components on Newegg and put the rest together with what I had. But it could just be common parts still funny though

Quicker way to clean that motherboard, just remove the CMOS battery and shove it in the dishwasher. Obviously requires longer drying time, but will leave it sparkling clean.

I don't believe that I saw you reseat the CPU. That would have been an easy troubleshooting technique to show that the motherboard is bricked. You didn't look at the socket either to see if there were any bent pins either. Just some thoughts.

I used isoprophel alcohol, im not using an ultrasonic because then you guys dont get to see the process of cleaning, its hidden in the cleaner so what would i film?

I5 4460 is not that bad at all. U can pair it with an RTX3060TI, 2x16GB 2133MHz ram, 2TB sata 3 ssd, 650W seasonic psu and its good to flip it.

No. The CPU Would bottleneck the gpu, the motherboards pci express has not enough lanes. The microstuttering would be all over the place

I always clean those dirty pcs with compressed air on my gas station nefore letting those come into my house. You can get serious trouble there.

When I saw no standoffs I was like "gee I'm surprised the motherboard survived"... well it didn't haha.
Probably like $1 worth of standoffs is the cause for the dead motherboard or at least logic dictates that. Hopefully any future new builders that see this video have this in mind.
Btw I noticed that only the matching RAM was used. What's up with the other 2 modules. Busted? Would've been nice to know that.
