Welcome back! 😄 And I think the longer videos are good, given the ASMR nature of them. EDIT: I don't agree with that CPU fan orientation. Rotating it clockwise would make so much more sense.
There is a lot about how this was built that I don't agree with. Rear\Top intake, CPU fan going up fighting with the "top" intake then out the side\front. I can "almost" say that cooler master did not orient those fans like that. At the end of the video, it looked like the case was right on top of the wall. Also, the CPU fan couldn't have been on the memory side of the heatsink because it looked like the fan would have been restricted (not fitting) because of the memory. I would do (this is me) front\side intake then exhaust rear\top (heat rises) that way the fan on the heatsink won't have any resistance with expelling heat. I've built a lot of computers and I have never changed the fan orientation on any case.

I loved this video and I loved the way you worked in that system. It shows that you really know what you're doing. My only "but" would be that I don't agree with the CPU heat sink fan placement, since it will be shoving all the hot CPU heat sink air to the graphics card. Also, the top fan case will be pulling air from that zone. As I mounted many PCs back in the day with that Cooler Master HAF chassis (and even had one myself, what a joy and fond memories that chassis brings back to me), I would install the Scythe heat sink fan to its right side, not on top of it. Yeah this is 100% fake. I've cleaned thousands of pc's professionally for years, INCLUDING ones on building sites that sit next to chain smokers and dust all day long and seen way worse but none ever like this, anyone who claims a PC is filthy from chain smoking has never actually been near a chain smokers pc lmao. Its not even remotely like this, even massive dust buildup doesnt look like this, hes purposely spread brand new dirt all over it, notice how when he pulls the cpu cooler that it looks like its 20 years old with all the dirt? and the thermal paste under it is brand spanking new, doesnt even look like it was ever turned on from the thermal paste still having that consistency lmao. And when he turns the motherboard around look at it, its like a brand new motherboard with 0 dust or filth on the backside yet it was a "smokers pc" xDDD
Yeah it is definitely a good one! Loved to work on it. Thanks for your comment @corneliodamianperezmedrano1136 , I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
Just the cpu cooler on heat sink is on wrong spot, it will blow the hot air down on gpu and will dramatically reduce performace, i have around 150 PC's like this, trust me.
Love it. It is so soothing to watch you clean. Smoking is just disgusting. I once have bought a used MBP on eBay which turned out to be from a smoker. It was terrible. Brown sticky dust and the smell of cold smoke everywhere inside the device.

@@french.satisfactory I stumbled a second time on your video, and yes I enjoyed it :) It's always satisfying to see a fucking dirty Pee-Cee getting cleaned up :) But after closer inspection, I noticed that this case differs a bit from mine. It's pretty identical, but yours seems to be an earlier revision than mine. The interior of yours is shiny steel, while mine is all painted black, as well as the outside. In later revisions of the case, before they released the HAF932 Advanced Blue - which featured fans with blue LEDs all over the case while the normal 932 had only the front 220mm fan with red LED - they painted the whole case black. A slight nuance in the colors, but overall that seems to be the exact same case, which is really different from the HAF X variant.

very satisfying. but i have a question. the cpu fan is blowing downwards. top and rear fans blow outside. would it be way better to let the cpu can blow direction backwards?

You should add two things in this cleaning process. First use ESD protection in your workshop. Second change sticker of fan after oiling them. One more thing that avoid excessive use of thermal paste. It should not reach nearby capacitors or resistors when you put back heatsink.

1 thing to keep in mind, as i seen it happen, the "do not cover this hole" on hard drives, sometimes dirt and tiny metal shavings and such can make its way inside there and on very rare cases mess up the drive, always take the cover off in a clean room and if it seems fine then put it back, also the board on the hard drive, i had on numerous occasions had dust, hair, dirt, etc get in there, and 1 good thing about that though is you can usually remove the board without needing to access the internals or ruin the warranty, unless its solid state
mmmh? Did you see that I did this in the video? do you have a timecode? Not sure to follow you 🤔 But thanks for the comment @lone_wolf178 ! I would love to understand. And hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory roughly 22:00 - 22:30 maybe my eyes are playin tricks on me, but the circuit board on the hard drive is def something to unscrew as the ribbon cables are connected by contact pins that feel a lil springy, but def good to look for corrosion, and at best a good wipe, as the other side of that board has components, the side that i see is the fairly blank side (sometimes has components) however if you do somehow break the board, it's replaceable and usually you wont have to deal with data loss as the board only controls the read/write arm and the motor, the data is stored on the platter(s) the cover is the side with the sticker with the brand, storage capacity, etc but that requires very delicate care taking the cover off, cuz how extremely delicate the read/write arm and the 1-4 platters (the mirror-like discs/disks) are, the circuit board side however is much easier as far less can be broken on it, like i've seen hard-drive disassembly videos before and learned a thing or 2 from hands on experience as well

@@french.satisfactory YW! If take average EU salaries, then the cleaning you did could have easily costed more than buying a new (and better) PC. Also some peoples do not understand the basic mechanic workings of a PC, why regularly do some cleaning. Along some environments a PC should not stay in for long. One thing: Try use 1/4 th of the thermal paste and just square it in the middle of a processor. Let the cooler surface squeeze the rest to the edges and not further. Such paste is just meant to smoothen out tiny uneven areas, metal against metal would be best if manage to polish it good enough.

Sorry, I’m late to the party! Man, this computer was definitely more revolting than usual. Just thinking about the smell sent chills down my spine 😬 Oh, I had a couple questions about your videos. So first, how do you get those macro shots? Like when you were cleaning the chipset, it was so zoomed in I could read the numbers off that chip XD It looks so good! Next, have you ever had any issues with using the alcohol on plastic? I use 91% and it sometimes leaves scratches in the plastic, or it melts it slightly. One last thing, thank you for putting matching blue RAM sticks in that computer, it looks SO much better than the red ones. As always, this was an awesome video and was super cool to watch. Smoker's dirt... The worst! Some of these parts are unfortunately stained forever. Overall this was a great result! It's a shame you can't oil those big fans, i have some myself and the bearings love to get dry and wear out over time. I did spot one goof, and that was the GPU. There was still chunky dust on the GPU die when you applied the thermal paste which can lead to worse contact. Also keep in mind to tighten the screws around the GPU first and in a cross pattern for best paste spread. I saw the sneaky RAM swap to blue modules too. Tasteful ;)

I clicked on this video because I recognized the case which is also the same one sitting here next to me. I've had this case since 2011 and it looks nothing like that or have I ever let it get to that state of disarray. My 200mm fans are still mostly clear with a little bit of white dust but no build up. SIDE NOTE. Those plastic PCIe retention clips are terrible. I had them melt on me or not so much melt but when my video card got hot, they let the card sag to the point games where crashing (I opened my side panel to see my card almost unplug itself and sitting at a 45-degree angle lol). I took out those plastic retention clips out of there and used screws. Never had an issue since. And yeah, the sag on the GPU in the bigging was absolutely those clips. Toss some screws in there.
Well, I don't know for these retention clips, but it looks like it is not the best part of this case for sure. Except that, I really enjoyed working on this case. Pretty heavy, but looks globally really great. I don't have one myself, it is a computer I gave back to its owner. Thanks for your comment @feeterican I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️

This video hit hard on the nostalgia, i've cleaned it so many times.
Nice to make you have some good memories with this video. As this case is a classic, some people already told me that 🥰
Thanks for your comment @ThomasTheLord Glad to know you enjoyed watching this video ❤️❤️
Спасибо что написал модель корпуса, как раз искал эту информацию.
@@ВадимШарипов-д8р Until now i use that case for my workstation. Until now that model is actual. Unfortunately now doesn't have new one like that case...
Oh lord, gotta be the absolute nastiest dirtiest pc I've seen to date. Nice work!!! How anyone can let their pc get like this is beyond me.
You know they dirty these up on purpose but dang its still so relaxing to watch. They know what they are doing ❤
Sorry but "they" don't 😅 I mean, ok a lot of channels fake their videos, but there is still people who don't, and that's the case here. But I understand your scepticism. I even did a community post about this here: ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxoYXYxt7TFs5YNEBCEmWMfJU0vc1s3sdi
Thanks for your comment @aliengamerz2u508 Happy to know you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
One of the best causes ever made, massive air flow
Yeah it is definitely a good one! Loved to work on it.
Thanks for your comment @corneliodamianperezmedrano1136 , I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
Just the cpu cooler on heat sink is on wrong spot, it will blow the hot air down on gpu and will dramatically reduce performace, i have around 150 PC's like this, trust me.
Love it. It is so soothing to watch you clean. Smoking is just disgusting. I once have bought a used MBP on eBay which turned out to be from a smoker. It was terrible. Brown sticky dust and the smell of cold smoke everywhere inside the device.
eheheh, I know this as you can imagine 😅 Thanks for your comment @romanwong5785 Glad to know you enjoyed watching this video ❤️❤️
I have cleaned filthy PCs in my past but this one is the champ. It looks like it was used by a chain smoker who lived in the Gobi Desert.
Something like that, I guess 😂

Long time no see!
So happy to see you back!

I use the same exact case ! Haha a Cooler Master HAF932. I bought it brand new in 2013, and still serves me to this day in 2024
Yeah, it is an amazing case! Pretty strong so I guess it will be still alive in 10 years 😅
Thanks for your comment @EternalxFrost I hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
I still own mine too. A literal 13kg jerrycan of cold-pressed steel and love. Bought in 2011 and decommissioned since 2018 but will eventually reuse it for a server, eventually.
Love to read this@@dingodash4096 ! It is definitely I great server case 🤩And yeah, it is "pretty" heavy 😂
@@french.satisfactory I stumbled a second time on your video, and yes I enjoyed it :) It's always satisfying to see a fucking dirty Pee-Cee getting cleaned up :)
But after closer inspection, I noticed that this case differs a bit from mine.

That clear fan came out better than I thought it would.
Did the red RAM turn out to be dead or was it just the color clashed?
I only changed this red RAM to the blue one to go from 8 to 16 Gb 😉

Other then the coolers orientation. Good job! should have the fan pointed towards the back of the case. In its current config its going to fight the top fan.
top fan could be intake which would work great in that orientation
Well, I pretty agree with the fan orientation. Would be more effective in another orientation. In fact, I was so focused on making the video, I just did put back the same way it was before I took appart this computer 😅
But I think I will change this before git this PC back to its owner.
Thanks a lot for your comment ❤️❤️
Always remember, guys :
- put motherboard in the case ;
- put video card on the mb ;
- put memory sticks on the mb ;
- ONLY THEN, put the huge cpu cooler on the cpu ! Geez.
mmmh? why only in that order?
It's what you did in the video.
ohhhh okok 😂 Well, I just did it that way because it made more sense to me at the time. 😅

Hello. Shouldn't the cpu cooling fan have been put back in such a way that it blows the hot air towards the rear 12cm fan, or would it not have fit because of the rams?
(just a comment)
by the way precise :)
I AGREE
Yeah, agree with what you said @DavidSzekeres-my9ml In fact, I was so focused on the video making I didn't even think about this and just did put it back the same orientation it was before I took this PC appart. It is the 2nd video I have many comments about the CPU fan orientation and the airflow. It is something I should take more attention on and I will for the next videos.
Thanks for your comment, hope that you was able to enjoy watching this video even with that ❤️
Either this was in constant use for ~10 years and never cleaned, or it was buried at some point... that is grotesque!
Amazing job on the refurbishment!
Heavy smoker, pets owner, PC on the floor and, I would even add that this PC did smell "magic cigarettes"... Bad combo.😅
Thanks for your comment @MrSpleenboy glad to know you enjoyed this vid ❤️❤️
Great video... first time viewer. Loved the "shooka-shooka-shooka" sound of your super-speed taking and putting screws. Probably someone asked this.. what was the stuff in the case? Was it just from smoking? If so, you could probably make a new pack of cigs from that stuff... Yecch.
Yeah, it is a typical smokers dust. In fact, it smelled "magical cigarettes" inside this thing... 😅

Did you clean the pc after Elisabeth went to the hospital for smoke inhalation, I seen this before with the exact same case, also full of grime and dust from a smoker.
Wait, but who is this Elisabeth?! I already had a comment with this name 😅 Sorry but I don't get the reference 🤣
What cleaning solutions do you use in the big bucket?
Don't know if you want to correct your Brand/Model section cause this is indeed a custom build, but the case you are working on is a Cooler Master HAF (High Air Flow) 932. I had one of these as well back in the day and though they were dust magnets, they were super easy to work on.
I loved seeing your process, I got a pc out of some dude’s storage unit, it’s 13 years old and it looks a lot like this one. I managed to clean a bit of it out but watching this has given me the confidence to take on the whole thing because I’m a cheap ass

I had one come in last year when the exhaust fan so was clogged that it would just not clean. Threw it away in the end as put a good one in!
That is some NEXT LEVEL cleaning! Very satisfying, the power of hard work, dedication, and elbow grease saved that system from an early grave! You should add two things in this cleaning process. First use ESD protection in your workshop. Second change sticker of fan after oiling them. One more thing that avoid excessive use of thermal paste. It should not reach nearby capacitors or resistors when you put back heatsink.

Wrist watch matches the color of the project. Perfect styling.
😅
Not sure to follow you 🤔
But thanks for the comment @lone_wolf178 ! I would love to understand. And hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory roughly 22:00 - 22:30 maybe my eyes are playin tricks on me, but the circuit board on the hard drive is def something to unscrew as the ribbon cables are connected by contact pins that feel a lil springy, but def good to look for corrosion, and at best a good wipe, as the other side of that board has components, the side that i see is the fairly blank side (sometimes has components)
however if you do somehow break the board, it's replaceable and usually you wont have to deal with data loss as the board only controls the read/write arm and the motor, the data is stored on the platter(s)
the cover is the side with the sticker with the brand, storage capacity, etc but that requires very delicate care taking the cover off, cuz how extremely delicate the read/write arm and the 1-4 platters (the mirror-like discs/disks) are, the circuit board side however is much easier as far less can be broken on it, like i've seen hard-drive disassembly videos before and learned a thing or 2 from hands on experience as well
and sorry if thats too much to read at 1 time, i tried to make it easier to understand but i never have been good with explaining things without showing it or doing it hands-on

Amazing work, cheers from Chile.
Why did you put the hot air flow from CPU over de GPU? Best option, i think is pulling it to the back fan, pushing out the hot air.
Good job!

You did an amazing job editing it down to less than 40 minutes. It wasn’t too long, and it felt complete. I can’t wait to see what’s next! Also, happy late Valentine’s Day!
Yey @93Volvo240 ❤️ Let's answer your questions
- "how do you get those macro shots?": I put the camera at 1 cm of what I want to record 🤣 I really don't have the good things to do it properly, so ... Yeah I'm doing it with what I currently have 😅
- "have you ever had any issues with using the alcohol on plastic?": Never, but was it a chance? there is sometimes some residues, so I am doing a final cleaning with a glass cleaner product
- "thank you for putting matching blue RAM sticks in that computer." You are welcome 😉

This guy must have taken lots of effort to make the parts dirty only for this video.😂😅
You can easily make this computer much more capable by swapping the CPU for a quad core (i have the exact same motherboard rocking a core i7 870 you can find on ebay for 20€).
Might be worth it since you upgraded the RAM. It's still perfectly fine for internet browsing, watching videos and using MS Office.
Yeah, upgrade the hard drive to an SSD one would also be a great choice, but this channel is not big enough yet to change all the interesting components to upgrade on every video. Added to that, I didn't have more time to work on that PC as it already took me days to make that video 😅
Thanks a lot for your comment @roml1289 hope that you enjoyed watching this video ❤️
@@french.satisfactory Oh, i wasn't suggesting you to upgrade everything.I just thought that you might use that computer or give it to someone because you upgraded the ram. Fact is that with a quad core it's still usable today (i still have that as a second computer) so someone might still have a need for it if you know someone who can't afford a new one. Keep up the good work !

Tasteful ;)
Yeah I realised the dust on the GPU a bit late ... when doing the video editing ... I was probably too tired at this moment. This cleaning project took my soule away 🤪

Yeah, when I took appart this PC I was waiting for an i7... but didn't have time to order and upgrade it. So let its owner doing this himself 😉
Was nice to read your comment @ryzen_9-3900xt ❤️❤️
