Most people can't take 2K serious as a competitive game because the game relies so heavily on algorithm, pay to win and cheese/glitches. I've said since the start of 250k, if they want to start being taken seriously as a competitive sport they need to remove the pay to win aspect and also turn of the "momentum simulator" or whatever it is. For park this could easily be done by a mode using call of duty style loadouts where everyone has set stats and badges based on desired playstyle with maybe 5-10 releases selectable and a choice of 2-3 animations or something. MyTeam can't be legitimately be competitive due to the core pay to improve progression style, I think that's why the competition changed to play now this year.

It's crazy that ESPN did a better job with the Madden Bus from back in like 2005 then 2k did! I loved that show when I was growing up and it was simple but it had personality.
2K had the formula with 250K tournament for pro am. All that needed to be done was an expansion on the concept with multiple smaller cash tournaments throughout the game cycle and maybe a bigger cash prize for the big tournament. You essentially would have every content creator making content centered around these tournaments while every non content creator is given a reason to be invested because of the chance at making some money and or a name for themselves. In my opinion it’s the gameplay/lack of personality mainly to blame. I watched a game by accident a couple weeks ago and it’s just people spamming the same cheesy moves but with actual basketball commentary. Couldn’t believe 2k pro players were doing jab steps in the paint to give them an unstoppable meter dunk. They’ve made a game in which the best way to win is by spamming overpowered moves while everyone else stands completely still. But if they make 2k too realistic, everyone will complain. The ONLY way to make the current game a watchable esport is by having personalities that make it fun. I will never watch someone do Jamal Murray behind the back for 30 minutes with actual basketball commentary😂 I remember staying up till 5am to watch tyceno wagers because he played the game completely different to anyone else. But in a 5v5 setting 2k have made it so the best way to score is also the cheesiest way to play the game.
And I know someone’s thinking “every game has cheesy stuff”. I play ufc A LOT. There’s cheese and moves people spam but you can counter them by playing the game smartly. I apply real fighting principles and they actually work in ufc. But in 2k, real basketball is a lot harder for whatever reason. In 2k, if someone gets a stun animation and 20ft of space off a Jamal Murray behind the back (that he’s never done in a game), there’s nothing you can do to about it. And in ufc if some spams a knee to an elbow, that’s still a real thing fighters do, I can’t even be mad at it. But I’ve never seen an nba player L2 cancel into a crab. As a community we need to decide do we want the game to be like actual basketball or do we want it how it is now. And judging by the complaints with shooting being too hard at release, 2k players don’t want it too realistic. Even though people were shooting 40% which is good in real life. As a community we did this to ourselves. Yes there’s dumb animations like passing the ball into the defenders head or the defender blocking a layup with his knee. But the stuff 2k try to improve, we complain about. If 2k make an actual realistic game where the pg isnt just dribbling for a 3, people will complain. If they make a game where locks don’t get 7 steals a game, everyone will complain. If they make a game where people shoot 40% from 3, everyone will complain. If they make a game where the court feels bigger so locks can’t guard 2 at the same time, the locks will complain. If they make a game where centers dominate in the post they’ll complain. If they make a game where it’s realistic they’ll say they miss “2k16”. If they make a game with all the cheesy repetitive stuff everyone will say it’s boring.
@@IMNOTHAVINGFUN2 absolutely is. It’s not even a move Jamal Murray does. When basketball players do a behind the back it’s into a fading shot. Not a stand still wide open shot. It’s a 2k animation that gives you infinite space especially off an L2 cancel. Same with John wall step back, how can you be driving to the midrange and instantly hop back to a stand still 3pt shot. Or the John wall crossover that teleports you 5 yards in front of your defender so they can’t contest your dunk. The game would be better if every animation was somewhat useable. Not having 5 animations that everyone’s spams on every possession. Difference between nba 2k and other simulation games is that the “cheese” is actually doable in real life. In ufc people spam a knee into an elbow but I can’t be mad since that’s an actual thing fighters do. When have you seen an nba player left right left right left right Jamal Murray behind the back to a stand still 3? Leave that for the park or something not 5v5. On fifa people run down the touch line and pass it to the man in the box, it’s hard to stop but I can’t be mad since that’s something that happens in the actual sport. I watched the 2k league when it first started in 2k18. I started to get invested in it cuz I liked knicks gaming cuz at the time they were considered an underdog that ended up winning the major tournament. I think they had to beat blazers gaming which was considered to be the best team in the game. I would mamaimdatman was probably the only few that had some sort of personality cuz he would kind of take that villain if u even wanna call it that. I only knew about the league in the first place because of agent. However the following year when they did the draft I think half the people or maybe more than half the people were kicked out of the league. I had no idea who any of them were. I very quickly became uninterested and stopped watching. I watch mainly cod league right now. There some major issues within that league as well but I would definitely say they have personalities and storylines and many different people covering the esport. The 2k league also has issues with it happening towards the end of the game cycle which makes no sense cuz at that point everyone is just looking for the next 2k dropping in September. Also the builder in the league is completely different than the shipped game and I have no idea how that looks like. How am i supposed to be invested in an esport game where I don’t even know what build there even using besides just reading it when it shows up prior to the tip off. I don’t know the attributes or the badge count or what tier badge they have it in. The draft is definitely not the way to bring in new talent. Everyone plays the same. When everyone is forced to play on the same builds people are just gonna play the same and it’s boring to watch. They been playing the same since the start of the league and they expect people to watch this repetitive ass shit. There’s a bunch of other issues.
My home girl Ziah got drafted and barely got PT so I just stopped giving a damn. With all respect to him, I knew the 2K League was doomed when Kuda won FMVP in the first season lmao.
Hate to say it but it’s inherently boring to watch a guard move around screens while most of the team spot-ups, only occasionally running plays. Unless the game or style of play changes to be more entertaining to watch they need to pivot and start drafting charismatic or interesting players, or build personalities or rivalries between players and teams. Then market the shit out of it so people know about the personalities and rivalries. Also please lower the difficulty they play on (they play on harder than Hof difficulty) so they can hit crazy exciting and clutch shots to keep it entertaining. But this won’t happen the league will die out 🙃
CEO does it so perfectly because they have well know people in certain communities that make guest appearances at different tournaments from time to time
I actually watched and wanted to be apart of this but didn’t want to commit everything to be apart of this. It was dead when I was watching and I didn’t even know who was good or the top players. NCAA boutta drop. RIP 2k League 😂

@@gorilla8811 I know but they should give higher attributes and a little customization how they have now but not a lot if this makes sense to some of the cheese
whats even crazier is your video is well done but itll get nowhere close the views it should get because nobody cares about the 2k league. I been saying literally nobody cares because its boring. Mark my words when 2k fifa comes out and they focus on it because soccer has over 3B fans 2k basketball will crumble harder. That esport is going to be 10x more entertaining
I was on the 17th ranked best Xbox pro am team in 2k18 right before the first combine. I averaged 20pts 12 rebs in the combine with 70% win percentage. I did not make it. The way it was handled to start was so poorly. No leaderboards to explain why players got drafted. Streamers like Dimez that streams every game he plays magically did not during the combine. Choc didn’t get drafted and made a whole video to exposed the 2k League and somehow they let him join the league in future drafts. 5 out killed the 2k league. No creative offensives to tell one team from the other. I remember watching Famous Enough fake ESPN show saying a PF was a top 5 PF and when I watched him he just stood in the corner the entire game. 2k is a joke.

2k as a game should’ve never went the pro gaming way. It’s made the game a try hard game instead of a casual pick up and play sports game. But lastly 2k only grew because of personality creators like smoove and cash, no one wanted to watch a group of nobodies play a boring 5v5. They should’ve went the madden espn route and got the most famous creators and put em in a house or a bus and have them represent different teams and have a tournament for cash.

Weird how a Nintendo game from 20 years (Melee) ago who don't have dev support not even for their current game (Ultimate). At CEO 2024 a Florida local top player named Wizzrobe defeats anther Florida local top player named Hungrybox and some how that peaked 80k (set was 10 days ago) and its not even a major for Smash. 2k has all the resources and money to market the 2k League they just choose not to.
That’s why I don’t see why 2k players try so hard then talk shyt 😂 it’s a certain ceiling you going to reach and that’s it so what’s the point in playing hard for 😂
Honestly I doubt we get another good 2k. Wish they just up the old servers and content creators run back old wagers before I lose all interest and stop watching and playing ts
Too many people who arent good at the game trying to go online and play. Devs listening to people who have not a single clue how game development works. Of course the pros will win but the opportunity was there for anyone. Madden has a pay to win model but also works in the Esports simply because everyone can compete.
Bro all those dudes that u mentioned dead ass deserves 2k Company shirts df!!!! But honestly too those names also had most to say about the game and you know they don’t like that. I always thought I would see Brut or Cash host a 2k event in the future I thought that’s how it went
I had no idea the league was doing that bad. I thought it was just me when I never thought it was entertaining from the start
The 2K League is the reason they moved to archetypes if you ask me.
Bro imagine if steezo was in the 2k league😭😭
Such a good video and im not in the 2k scene at all anymore. What happened to the game i love man
My home girl Ziah got drafted and barely got PT so I just stopped giving a damn.
With all respect to him, I knew the 2K League was doomed when Kuda won FMVP in the first season lmao.
Tyceno, Joe Knows, Steezo etc. should of been in the 2k league
But this won’t happen the league will die out 🙃
If 2k devs and representatives gave the game and the community the type of care and support that the fgc gets, we would actually get a good 2k
Glad you did this 😊
Thanks, Crazy!
Same here.
I remember seeing Gilbert Arenas do 60k on a live stream watching a simulated game of a fantasy draft. I wondered the 2k League was doing and i think their finals had 20k.
Why would anyone watch a game when they can't determine what is skillful or not? They are playing on sliders that nobody know about. It had no chance
Does 2k really care is my question the only thing that they seem to care about in my opinion is the bottom dollar and how things effect that
One thing is attracting the viewer, that 2k league video looks bland & robotic + lame commentary probably. Choc’s video there’s so many eye catching things and actual creativity. Wonder why nobody told 2k to be creative
So weird that they play online across from each other in the league why not just go play now with created players ? Lan style tournament
The gameplay from joe knows is 10x more entertaining than the 2k league. 2k league looks like 20 game speed
DCQ even catching strays from small 2k creators lmaoo
Nothing to do with 2k league but I think that pie charts should come but just allow higher overalls and more modification
pie charts were terrible man
@@gorilla8811 I know but they should give higher attributes and a little customization how they have now but not a lot if this makes sense to some of the cheese
whats even crazier is your video is well done but itll get nowhere close the views it should get because nobody cares about the 2k league. I been saying literally nobody cares because its boring. Mark my words when 2k fifa comes out and they focus on it because soccer has over 3B fans 2k basketball will crumble harder. That esport is going to be 10x more entertaining
I was trying to get in the league back in 2k18 that process was bad and i didn't make it so i stopped caring about that trash
The 2k league sounds like the WNBA before CC.
Hopefully that means instead of making the game competitive they will go back to making the game fun again 🙏🏾
If that failed investment dosen’t show them to pay attention and listen to the community then the company is toast
This is the one 📚 , 🔥🔥🔥
💪
Shit is so funny in a cringe way. The way they talk shit to each other and the emotional draft 😂 😂
cuz nothin but lames are in the league ... how do ii buy it
Great video, you are absolutely right!
2k doesn't care about gameplay, 2k doesn't care about their player base, 2k never cared about the 2KL! It deadass be like 50 ppl watching them games... They day 2k decided to make this game playable through a full cycle again will be the day ppl can build careers off this game again until then, same cycle each yr, which is getting worse and worse... Its literally abt effort atp
The 2K League was boring.. I could never get into it
Garbage league. 2k is just hemorrhaging money from that dumpster fire.
It’s all 2-3 defense and the inside big on both teams makes the gameplay boring
No one plays 2-3 in the comp scene, it's the easiest defense in the game to beat.
nobody plays 2-3 what the actual fvck are you talking about?
Who in the 2k league plays 2-3 ???
2k wants to be a dictator so bad ☠️
CEO is is Florida regional With their big games are most modern tradition Fighters plus both Smash titles.
8:46 Wiggity Wash? Is that some Smug lingo I'm hearing? W if it is.
With the greatest of ease.
This was a joke from the start 😂
That’s why I don’t see why 2k players try so hard then talk shyt 😂 it’s a certain ceiling you going to reach and that’s it so what’s the point in playing hard for 😂
Honestly I doubt we get another good 2k. Wish they just up the old servers and content creators run back old wagers before I lose all interest and stop watching and playing ts
You clearly haven't watched Disney star wars...
The whole entire 2K League is & was overrated‼️
Just put fries in my bag bro 😂
Its failure cause no one cares about 2k especially since 2k was know for park 😂💯
Too many people who arent good at the game trying to go online and play. Devs listening to people who have not a single clue how game development works. And the community feeding into the absurd micro transactions is why this game is dying.
And thinking an E-league for this disaster of a video game will thrive is just plain delusional.
27:22
Now do a video why myTeam needs to die
Literally no one cares about the 2K league, WHERE IS KOBE!?!
They had good commentators but they could commentate every game and they couldn't mic the players cause they curse too much
You creators sound like haters reveling in their demise
