      How do they compare to the other neons color wise? Since the cardinal and regular neon have red and blue, I thought they would be more striking. Is that not the case? Is the reflectiveness different between the three types of neons?

    • @ashwingogawale5560

      @@eliosaaa Size wise
      This is how it goes
      Cardinal
      Green N
      Neon
      And red colour is very vibrant in Cardinals only. Neos have a very weak hue of red.
      And reflectiveness of blue is prominent on cardinal and green neon. Normal neon tetra is not that vibrant and reflective at all.
      I would say go with green neon or Cardinal.
      Neon tetras are extremely weak fish.

    Your videos are so good, they create a constant conflict within my soul. A year ago I bought a 20 gal. long on sale. Needs a stand. Original purpose was for a tetra tank. Neons, embers, maybe glowlights or head & taillights, all swimming and darting back and forth. Splash of color here, splash of color there. Not sure what plants (help Joanna). Then I saw your videos on shellies and saw some caudos at lfs and started thinking about shellies. Still just as torn as ever.

      This is the main reason why so many of us suffer from MTS! The thing is that fish don't live forever, so go ahead and start with whatever you are drawn to at the moment, and then down the road, you can either add another tank or switch things up as your original group dies out.

      yeah same! The most interesting part was when I was moving them to the main tank, the turquoise stripe turned into this red-orange colour. As you mentioned, the same happens in the morning. It's also interesting that changing the light will change their colour too. Depending on the light they can get this super deep indigo colour

    I'm still a big advocate for the standard neon tetra. I haven't lost a single one that I've bought and there's seventeen of them in my tank. They're living in liquid rock with some platies and cories. I feel they have a brighter color than the greens. The greens are probably pretty decent still but my heart leans strongly toward the standard blues and their bold color.

    They are nice, I recently saw them at my lfs. But I’m sticking with my black neon (big group of 30), lemon and congo tetra combo. The subtle colors of black neons and lemon tetra really pop when in large groups . As I upgrade to a larger tank I’ll be adding many more of just those three to make big schools. I just really like the look and feel of big schools of small fish in big tanks. Those fish always do so much better as well, when kept like that.

    Hello! great video(s). I have read much info and most if not all of the articles state that green neons should have a sandy substrate as that is what they are used to their natural habitat? what are you using in the tank?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  3 роки тому +1

      We are using Fluval Stratum in this tank. Substrate doesn't matter because they don't interact with it.

    • @mden2490
      @mden2490 3 роки тому +1

      are you using that because green neons like a more acidic environment? Does fluval help with that? how much would you recommend for a 20 gal long?

    In the video they stay in the bottom half of the tank, so am I correct to assume they would make a relatively safe choice for a lidless tank? I have a riparium style tank which for now is only inhabited by bottomfeeders and could use a splash of colour.
    BTW this could be a topic for one of your list videos, "Top 10 fish for open tanks" or something :).

    I'm setting up a 55g community tank piece by piece as things go on sale. Looking for advice on a few things. I HAVE decided that green neons will be my schooling fish, with honey guaramis here and there, and a pair of Kribensis. Will those fish work together? Also, I like the idea of not having a hood, and using either hyger LEDs that lay on top, or a clamp on LED so I can adjust the height...not sure if you can adjust the height on the ones you just sit in top of the tank. Lastly which HOB filter is best. Seachem Tidal 75g is what I'm leaning towards. I'm under the impression that hob is easier for maintenance. I watched this video about the fish and your video on sponge filters how to for dummies basically. Oh for fish I'd probably have 1 or 2 clown plecos, or dwarf spotted plecos if I can find them and win the lottery. I'm planning on having a few pieces of real driftwood and cholla wood, but a recommendation on a certain type of driftwood wood would be great. The only live plants will be floating and most likely frogbit unless I decide to give red root floaters another try...killed it last time. I'm still very much a beginner only having my 15g for 7 months now, but I've already got the bug for a bigger tank.
