- As requested here's a walk around of my 1998 Porsche Boxster 986 as I talk about all of the mods and maintenance I've done in my first two years of ownership. It's A LOT! If you own a Boxster or are thinking about buying one, I would highly recommend bookmarking my playlist on this car.

Love what you’ve done to your car especially the front bumper looks awesome I have a Porsche Boxster S 2001 the same color but yours looks much better i’ve just spent 2000 pounds on my gearbox and changing the IMS bearing i’ve had two boxes and I love them not ready to sell mine yet keep the videos coming as I do enjoy them rob from Chatham Kent🤓

Got my 98 986 earlier this year and your videos have been a lifesaver - particularly the micro switch for the roof as I got a healthy price reduction for the roof being inoperable!

Thanks for the videos, I have a 1997 986 I have owned for over 6 years, I have put 45,000 miles for total milage of 145,000. I do my own work also one thing I did which I really enjoy is Numeric shifter and Numeric Cables what a difference! It feels like direct shifting like my first Roadster an MGB. I would highly recommend. I also changed my front suspension all Polly bushings. I'm going to change rear suspension this year. Two years ago I had to change Master cylinder and Power boost, changed AOS and plumbing and valve, front engine mount, Rotors and Pads, headlights three different sets, cleaned all drains and had to replace the drain tube in front of left rear wheel. And regular maintenance plugs, filters.I have found working on this car easier than most others people find it hard to believe but it is.

Hi Aaron. I think I told you that you were the inspiration for me to carry out work on my own Boxster. One of the things that I have done was to spray the rear bumper panel. It had a couple of cracks in it, either side of the number plate. I know that you haven’t shown this as work you have done on the Boxster but you gave me the confidence to give it a try. I didn’t want to spray a small area and blend it in as I have seen bad jobs of that sort of thing before. I had never spray painted before so I watch about thirty plus videos on UA-cam. I filled the cracks, sanded them, primed the panel and painted it. The result was far beyond my dreams of how I thought I may turn out.
I thought of this when I saw the front panel damage on your car. You can do it yourself, let me inspire you this time 😀. Go for it. If it doesn’t work out you haven’t lost anything apart from the cost of a few cans of paint. It has been one of the most satisfying things I have done. What do you think?

It’s definitely something I would try IF I weren’t planning on wrapping the car. I definitely can’t make it worse by painting myself. I’ll let you know if my plans change 😉

New owner of a 2001 986. Jumped over from the Volvo 850R and T5R ownership and having Robert Spinner as the go to guy there. I did subscribe to your channel and look forward to following your mods & maintenance videos. Luckily, I bought my car from an established mechanic so most maintenance items were up to date other than I had to do an oil change. A lot of first-time shocks like the 9.2 quarts but also finding out that a plastic push pin is $11.50, that's each. The 850 parts were comparable to a high volume domestic vehicle, like a Taurus. I felt as if I had entered some rarefied air with the 986.. On the flip side of that I went for for an extended ride , along lake Erie, and realized this car is an entirely different animal. Definitely rarefied air!

Awesome I need a few hours to do a few of those jobs that AOS I really like that brake calibers of course I need to do water pump and the thermostat for peace of mind. Dam that stereo is cool. Of course the sucky thing here in Northern California is they give you a ticket for not having a front license plate but your bumper does look cool not to mention misusing those bumperetts in the back on the tail lights too. You’ve done great job on the car.

When viewed on my I-pad the car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Actually it is better than as delivered.....but looks fantastic.. at any rate it is FANTASTIC !

Normally I'm not a fan of the period inappropriate LED lights on older cars, but I admit these actually look pretty good.

Aaron, that's a very nice Boxster specimen. I see you have a few battle scars on your front bumper but it's still a nice GT3 touch. I daily-drive both my 986 & 997.2 and have a few rock chips on both. LIKED & SUBBED...

Hi! Professional detailer here, You may have issues moving forward with vinyl wrap over the boxster paint due to the ceramic coating application, Be prepared if you have to do a removal of that beforehand! :)

Nice job, car is looking great, I’m thinking of buying one myself, I had an 06 Cayman S which I loved but the practicalities of life saw me end up with an ML 350........ I think it’s time for a retirement toy 👍. Yes, this information is invaluable but I must admit I was on edge watching you tackle the PSS 9 install 🤦♂️

+Stuart Chapman ah man, that was maybe the very first thing I did and forgot to mention it 😂. Makes a huge difference. My mechanic put in a shifter from a GT3 he had laying around the shop!
Dude did you make a video for the door speakers? (I saw the one for the front speakers) Also, you mentioned you replaced the headlights switch, did you make a video for that? If you say yes for these questions I'll just go ahead and research your channel and find the videos AND will be so happy!

What you are seriously missing is 30mm spacers on all the way around. Use H&R Tax+ the best. It will definitely give you the stance you need

The wheels aren't Turbo Twist, they're called "Boxster S". I like the center caps, though. From Nine8Six, I presume? I have them in black. ;)

Aaron - Regarding the direct bolt in seat replacement. What year Cayman's are a match? Not concerned about the heaters I'm just looking for an updated seat for my '01 986. Thanks buddy!

Looking great, really appreciate the videos. I have a 2000 model for which you have inspired a very long laundry list of projects! One question: somewhere in another video you had mentioned replacing the vanity mirror covers to get rid of those silly American warning labels. I cannot find anybody who sells them, other than paying for the whole assembly used. Seems like a lot for some cheap plastic covers. Any chance you would share where you were able to get your 3D printed ones? TIA and keep the videos coming! Liked and subscribed!

I have a video on the 3D printed mirror covers. Some guy was making them and only charging shipping. Mine failed though. Warped when left in the sun. I think a lot of people sell them now printed with better materials at a low cost. I should get another set sometime. If anyone wants to send me a pair I’ll try them out 😉

You said you ceramic coated that car, it looks like it still has swirls and smears. I do that for a living so it’s not hard to notice. Just got myself a 2000 Boxster and already looking to make it look better

What did you do for the wiring for the seats with the airbag so the light isn't always on? Doing the same and have the wiring/relays taken care of for the heated seats, reach out if you want that info.
+Herb Steck the connectors under the seats were plug and play for me. Just unplugged the battery when installing and the airbag light stayed off when plugging it back in after the reinstall. My mechanic sold them to me (from his Cayenne) and said the airbags in the seat just won’t work, which isn’t an issue since the stock seats didn’t have them.

You’ve done a great deal on this car but no engine modifications, how come? Your exhaust inserts will be costing you power.
Have you any experience of a lightweight flywheel and tubular exhaust manifolds on this car?
+Speedwelltuning not much can be done to the base engine. The inserts to eliminate drone are well worth the tiny sacrifice in power for me. I haven’t done any of that yet, but when I get me new garage built I’ll probably get to that sort of thing 😎
