Love what you’ve done to your car especially the front bumper looks awesome I have a Porsche Boxster S 2001 the same color but yours looks much better i’ve just spent 2000 pounds on my gearbox and changing the IMS bearing i’ve had two boxes and I love them not ready to sell mine yet keep the videos coming as I do enjoy them rob from Chatham Kent🤓
Got my 98 986 earlier this year and your videos have been a lifesaver - particularly the micro switch for the roof as I got a healthy price reduction for the roof being inoperable!
Thanks for the videos, I have a 1997 986 I have owned for over 6 years, I have put 45,000 miles for total milage of 145,000. I do my own work also one thing I did which I really enjoy is Numeric shifter and Numeric Cables what a difference! It feels like direct shifting like my first Roadster an MGB. I would highly recommend. I also changed my front suspension all Polly bushings. I'm going to change rear suspension this year. Two years ago I had to change Master cylinder and Power boost, changed AOS and plumbing and valve, front engine mount, Rotors and Pads, headlights three different sets, cleaned all drains and had to replace the drain tube in front of left rear wheel. And regular maintenance plugs, filters.I have found working on this car easier than most others people find it hard to believe but it is.
Hi Aaron. I think I told you that you were the inspiration for me to carry out work on my own Boxster. One of the things that I have done was to spray the rear bumper panel. It had a couple of cracks in it, either side of the number plate. I know that you haven’t shown this as work you have done on the Boxster but you gave me the confidence to give it a try. I didn’t want to spray a small area and blend it in as I have seen bad jobs of that sort of thing before. I had never spray painted before so I watch about thirty plus videos on UA-cam. I filled the cracks, sanded them, primed the panel and painted it. The result was far beyond my dreams of how I thought I may turn out. I thought of this when I saw the front panel damage on your car. You can do it yourself, let me inspire you this time 😀. Go for it. If it doesn’t work out you haven’t lost anything apart from the cost of a few cans of paint. It has been one of the most satisfying things I have done. What do you think?
+Robert Hooles I love it man! Thanks. Sometimes everyone needs a push, even me ;) It’s definitely something I would try IF I weren’t planning on wrapping the car. I definitely can’t make it worse by painting myself. I’ll let you know if my plans change 😉

I did subscribe to your channel and look forward to following your mods & maintenance videos. Luckily, I bought my car from an established mechanic so most maintenance items were up to date other than I had to do an oil change. A lot of first-time shocks like the 9.2 quarts but also finding out that a plastic push pin is $11.50, that's each. The 850 parts were comparable to a high volume domestic vehicle, like a Taurus. I felt as if I had entered some rarefied air with the 986.. On the flip side of that I went for for an extended ride , along lake Erie, and realized this car is an entirely different animal. Definitely rarefied air!

@@markbowerman8224 I think there is a link in my video on the Joe Toth Ducktail
@@HelpMeDIY I couldn’t find one.
@@markbowerman8224 sorry, found it in the “How to apply Porsche lettering” video on my channel. In the description. I couldn’t copy and paste the link on my phone for some reason.
Where did you find those center lock wheel caps?
+Andrew Koontz on the forums. There’s some info on my other video about the center caps.
Your old lady has a nice car....
+networkbits 😂 thanks
How much was the bumper?
+Christian Obrien I think around $500-600, but I have a separate video on it with a link to the bumper
How much money do you have in it?
+Michael Welschmidt I’m trying not to think about it 😂 Paid $7500 for it though. Maybe one day I’ll try to add it all up. The ability to DIY on this car makes a huge difference!
Je veux le même aileron ou peu t’ont l’acheter
Je ne le vends pas mais vous pouvez l'acheter chez Joe Toth
Some nice 3 piece wheels would set the car off
+Camryn Greene not a bad idea 🤔
Do you want to sell it?
+Mark West no, but I’ve been thinking about this idea for a wild giveaway...
Really nice car (I had a 2002 with 51k on it then involved in a rear ender and totaled. Nice job on rear window!
THE FAKE CENTER LOCKS ARE BEYOND GAY…remove ASAP!! Otherwise super nice ride!

Nice job. Just acquired my 98 Boxter. I see you’re a Tar Heel. Me too.
+Joey Redmon-Ride Like a Pro-Nc yes I’m in Greensboro, you?
@@HelpMeDIY Right next door to you. Kernersville. Been here all my life.
@@joeyredmon just moved from there!
@@HelpMeDIY That’s great! How do you like it thus far?
@@joeyredmon it’s great. Been wanting to get some local Boxster folk together sometime. Be sure to join my FB page
The American pronunciation of Bilstein is hilarious, made me laugh.
You’ve done a great deal on this car but no engine modifications, how come? Your exhaust inserts will be costing you power.
Have you any experience of a lightweight flywheel and tubular exhaust manifolds on this car?
+Speedwelltuning not much can be done to the base engine. The inserts to eliminate drone are well worth the tiny sacrifice in power for me. I haven’t done any of that yet, but when I get me new garage built I’ll probably get to that sort of thing 😎
It's a shame about the color match on that front bumper.
+James it’s a shame about the whole paint job if you haven’t seen that video 😥
Urgh chrome wheels are so tasteless. Awful.
+Speedwelltuning who’s got chrome wheels? 👀 Mine are gunmetal grey, not even close to chrome 🤷♂️
