I keep coming back because of this fact. You can see how much he struggles during the Inside stand up isolation movie thing. Here, he's back with the world, where thousands of people are not only liking your song but, singing it word for word and enjoying themselves every second of the way. I can just imagine how he feels. It was all worth it!
There is something about a crowd and singer singing this song that reaches beyond the feelings I get listening to this song. The collective shared experiences of Bo Burnham's Inside are just phenomenal.
I think it's grieving for the end of the world as we know it. I'm not 100% sure but I've been thinking about this for a while and it feels like an expression of grief.
It feels weirdly good to know that everyone else is also feeling bad. "20,000 years of this. 7 more to go." makes me weep when I hear it alone but when I hear other people sing it together it's a triumphant joke.
it's just feels so much more mournful with her voice, though i think that in part is to do with the slower pace of this version... bo's version was of course incredible, but felt more like acceptance, whilst this feels more like the realisation.
I cant think of something that had the same emotion impact for so many like Inside, Bo poured his soul into the work and like she said it makes other artist want to capture the magic. I think Phoebe captured some of that magic in her own way and it sure is a pleasure to watch her preform one of the best songs.
the special came out right before my dad passed, and while i never directly linked the two in my mind this became a song i listened to a lot i never fully understood why it made me emotional, but for some reason today, listening to this one for the first time, i broke down crying about my dad Its a song about mourning, mourning the end of the world as we all knew it, and today for me that came in the form of mourning my dad i loved him a lot and i miss him everyday, it would be safe to say my world ended the day he died this version with the audience singing together elevated the emotional nature of the song, and the ending was perfect; yeah the world is ending and everything sucks, but we've got to keep our heads up and look forward and smile because if we arent laughing, we're crying
Your dad loved you as much, and more. We all go in time, but your bond, and his memory will last longer than you know. Stay strong. You are your father's son.
I know this isn't a comedy event but I can't help wheezing whenever one more band member comes on stage with a fucking skeleton outfit, just so funny idk why.
I hope Bo knows he's not alone, or at least just as alone as the rest of us. This song hits really hard and seeing him just being a face in the crowd made me remember that we really are just one big family.

Why are people laughing and cheering? This is the most depressing song I have ever heard in my life. I love it, but in the way we sometimes have to immerse ourselves in sadness. Or feel relief that someone could put our feelings into words. It's a song about being a part of a society with its foot on the gas pedal while speeding toward a brick wall. Being alive on the precipice of human extinction.
yeah, people laughed at "logan paul," but notice how there was dead silence after "a mass shooting at the mall?" it's not like they were laughing throughout the entire thing, i don't see what's wrong with it.
Because people find happiness when together and thinking the same thoughts. They all feel that funny feeling, but during that moment - they felt it together. They weren't alone having an existential crisis about the planets impending doom which none of us have any control of.
The thing is, there are good items described in this song as well. That funny feeling isn't exclusively negative nor positive. You know, even if it was purely negative, it would still be fine for an audience to feel "glee" over connecting emotionally with music, but you actually managed to be completely wrong in your arrogance.
I'm glad that Bo got to experience audiences reaction to his masterpiece without worrying about it.
