This is fantastic. Thank you so much!
Where did you get this and is there one for Big Thief?
I swear if you give me a virus
Thanks to Bo Burnham for writing a perfect Phoebe Bridgers song
Thank you Josh Tillman
@@JJJameson. thank you josh tillman for teaching bo burnham to write a perfect phoebe bridgers song
@@bayleyasher Can't argue with that
@@bayleyasher Well.. She's not touring a FJM song as her encore.
@@robertfrost8264 I think his point is that "That Funny Feeling" has clear "Holy Shit" vibes
I was watching the stream and knew this song, but didnt realize it was a cover lol Bo and Phoebe should make a band called Burning Bridges
I love both this idea and that stellar band name oh so much
that name is fucking genius
Wait that’s genius 👀🤯
YES
Little Bo Phoebes
Now I want Bo to cover I Know the End 😩🙏
no but actually
Judging from the scream in Bezos I he could probably do it justice
“The best artists encapsulate the feeling of a generation”
She made an already depressing song MORE depressing. BRAVO.
As a Phoebe fan this contextualizes why I listened to this song on inside 100x more than the others
Her voice control is amazing, her pronunciation is so satisfying
I know, right? The way she says “again” in this song is so heavenly omg 😭
The world needs a Phoebe/Bo collab.
they did one a little while back at the largo
phoe(bo)
She almost lost it at "Pornhub's terms of service," which makes this even more awesome.
If I'm not mistaken, Bo Burnham himself was in the crowd during this. I wonder what he must've felt hearing her and the crowd singing the song together and their reactions to it.
You are mistaken, that was at the Greek Theater in LA, this festival is at Union Park in Chicago. This song is just in her setlist atm and she probably plays it loads of places.
I was okay until “That unapparent summer air in early fall, the quiet comprehending of the ending of it all” combined with the violin. 😭 Then when all of the musicians come in it’s like 💃🏾time to dance because life is meaningless🕺
Life isn’t meaningless! Don’t let nihilism win! :(
@@TheShadyPenguin, I'm trying my best. Although I've heard that there's different types of nihilism. One is "Life is meaningless, so I should give up." The other is "Life is meaningless, so I should live my life to the fullest" (whether that's in a hedonic way or not depends on the person and their morality).
@@isabelberger9441 You might like Absurdism then. It's where it's at imo.
@@kendraabeene1173 it also is in line with Bo's general ideas....not sure how Phoebe feels though.
I personally appreciate "Life isn't meaningless, but we're fucking it up for all of us" a.k.a. depressed socialist/leftist
The fan overlap just makes my day
now we need a studio version
@@mattopgenorth4897 did it come out? I don't see it on Spotify
@@jackl8025 It's on her bandcamp. Pay what you want. All money goes to Texas Abortion Funds. Otherwise someone uploaded the studio version to UA-cam recently.
@@jackl8025 it’s on Spotify now!
Anyone else wish she started by saying, “I can't really, uh, play the guitar very well
Um, or sing, so, you know, apologies”
It's not that the world may be finally ending, but that we're all finally thinking about it.
No, it's both.
Just saw her in Pittsburgh. So good and such a down to earth person. Such a talent
she took the beauty of Bo´s song to another level, this is amazing,we need both playing together this live please
This was fucking amazing and she looks so good up there. Words cannot describe how good she is
why do i not start crying until the song goes upbeat
Life is what you make it
so why can't I be happy
will it to be
so I can see
beauty among the trees
I am losing my mind over this. the perfect person to cover this song
AGHHH i love phoebe so much wow
The fact that bo was there 😂
No he was at her concert at the Greek theatre, not this festival I think
Why are there bits missing? This is almost a perfect recording
I would guess issues with the stream itself
Fucking amazing! I love Bo Burnham and can't be mad at this, it is a perfect cover!
Those skeletons can really rock out. Very spooky
i just wanted to feel something but now all i feel is pain
She skipped my favorite line "20,000 years of this 7 more to go".
Did she forget?
I think people are saying there were issues with the stream
this is the best thing ever to exist
“The show has got a buuuuudget…..”
Most important song of 2021
I came here after reading that David Crosby apparently said something about phoebe (I don't know what he said - and do not care) but this young lady is just so awesome and brilliant absolutely
Why are half the verses cut out?
Thanks for uploading! Do you have the full set by any chance?
of course :) I have the full set recorded (except the song punisher) i’ll see if i can post it without youtube taking it down
Phoebo Bridgeham
Ah shit, caught myself crying.
Excellent song choice 🥲
My worlds collide!
What a fantastic cover.
how cool would it be if she responded to the "i love you" someone screams at the end with "no, you love the idea of me"
(that's a Bo Burnham reference if anyone out there didn't watch that special)
“It’s a parasocial relationship: it goes one way and is ultimately self-destructive. But please: keep buying my shit forever!”
THANK YOU FOR CAPTURING MY MOST TEARFUL MOMENT AT PITCHFORK
Why does she start in the middle of the song?
Fun fact, Bo Burnham was literally there or was at another concert she sang this at
JJ at the end surprised me
Thank you for sharing.
Wait did she cover big thief?? Does anyone have a video of that i NEEED
Thanks for uploading! Do you have tissue by chance?
Her episode of Comedy Bang Bang was fantastic as well. Made probably the best joke of the entire show and it kinda got stepped on. She is hilarious.
0:26 “Georgia” 0:27 “Red flannel version”
Fuck i don’t think my heart will be able to handle this
I wonder what Bo thinks of this interpretation of his song
honest feels like an end song for something special
Earth?
@@Champiness nah I just imagine that well since the song is about whats happen throughout the past 2 years or so you can call 2020 has been well shit and since the lyrics in the end is saying hey we didnt knew this year was gonna be big in a way that chaos can be describe but hey we will be okay again,It takes time to mend and it will all be over soon.
@@chieludz no, the song is literally about the end of the world. you're reading an upbeat ending because this version plays the final part waaaaay more upbeat than the original. it's not supposed to be literally upbeat, it's supposed to be ironic. as in "well, everything is fucked but at least the world is ending so we don't have to deal with this shit anymore". the song isn't about 2020, it's about the dogshit state of the planet. there's endless references to climate change and things completely unrelated to the pandemic throughout the entire song.
@@Zvox meanwhile, the "end of the world" is really only ever a metaphor for the inevitability, foreboding imminence, and/or unpredictability of one's own death.
A very old, yet ever-relevant theme.
@@Champiness 20,000 years of this, 7 more to go
This performance is THE song of the pandemic. 10/10
Amazing.
'Pheobe bridgers' singing a song by 'bo burnham' with skinny 'weeknd' on trumpet. 6:45
i wish I were able to cry outside of therapy
I was a fan of the end bit turning into a ska song
THE VIOLIN???
The crowd wasn’t going crazier about this song because they didn’t know the song because they didn’t watch Bo’s special because he made fun of a lot of them
ayo this
Bo’s version of the song is already so amazing. But I honestly might like this one better. Either way, incredible lyrics.
I should have stayed longer...
Bo's captures the feeling of this song better than anyone, but this is a really good attempt
lol i was the one who screamed “phoebe i love you” ahahaha this performance was so good gahhhh
that was annoying
AND BO WAS T H E R E
Wasnt bo in the audience
Fun fact: Bo was in the audience
What’s funny is that bo intros this song with “i cant play the guitar…. Or sing” and it’s very apparent that phoebe bridgers definitely can lol
It's dis-ociation.
Some Song and Waltz #2 by Elliott Smith are ‘my’ songs…No matter how much I try to have new ones…And he cannot write me a new one anyhow…
I know Phoebe Bridgers has her own thing but I still feel as though these two songs by Elliott Smith are what I believe to be what her music and lyrics are most informed by and what they are hinting at conveying ...And you do not have to agree or even know wtf I am talking about...Just listen...It's well-understood...
First the mic, then a half cigarette/Singing, "Cathy's Clown"
That's the man she's married to now/That's the girl that he takes around town
She appears composed, so she is, I suppose/Who can really tell?
She shows no emotion at all/Stares into space like a dead china doll
I'm never gonna know you now/But I'm gonna love you anyhow
Now she's done and they're calling someone/Such a familiar name
I'm so glad that my memory's remote/'Cause I'm doing just fine hour to hour, note to note
Here it is, the revenge to the tune, "You're no good
You're no good, you're no good, you're no good"
Can't you tell that it's well understood?
I'm never gonna know you now/But I'm gonna love you anyhow
I'm here today and expected to stay/On and on and on
I'm tired/I'm tired…
Looking out on the substitute scene/Still going strong
XO, mom/It's okay, it's alright, nothing's wrong
Tell Mr. Man with impossible plans to just leave me alone
In the place where I make no mistakes/In the place where I have what it takes
I'm never gonna know you now/But I'm gonna love you anyhow…
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Elliott Smith- Some Song (again)
It's a junkie dream, makes you so uptight/Yeah, it's Halloween tonight and every night/Hear you scratch your skin, your sandpaper throat/You're a symphony, man, with one fucking note…
Charlie (‘dad’) beat you up week after week/And when you grow up, you're gonna be a freak/Want a violent girl who's not scared of anything…
Help me kill my time
'Cause I'll never be fine
You went down to look at old *Dallas Town/Where you must be sick just to hang around/Seen it on TV, how to kill your man/Then like Gacy's scene, a canvas in your hand…
Better call your mom, she's out looking for you/In the jail and the army and the hospital too/But those people there couldn't do anything for you…
Help me kill my time…
*…We never need to talk…*
Drink less.
This is Her song now. Lol great stuff.
I love this, but no. Burnham's contempt for the way things are is where this song comes from. The climax at the end of this kinda overshadows the abandonment of all control the original has when he just lets the melody ride out. This is great, but it's pretty obvious Burnham's original is the definitive version.
Yeah….no
@@HQBacon I actually think the almost triumphant ending of this version plays really well to the flippancy of the lyrics, but I respect your opinion
Nah, this kind of song cant be in the "his/her song now" category.
No way lol
this is a great cover but i don't like the upbeat ending. the ending in the original is supposed to be ironic, not literally upbeat and optimistic like in this version. it's not saying "it will be over soon" because we're going to come out of all this garbage into some kind of utopian wonderland, it's saying "it will be over soon" as in, "i, and the entire world, will soon be dead, so all this suffering and stupidity will be over".
That's kind of Phoebe's whole thing though, melancholy coupled with ironicly upbeat music with self-aware depressive lyrical notes
@@Onedavemore it doesn't make sense for this particular song. it doesn't come off as ironic, it comes off as genuine, which defeats the purpose of the song.
@@Zvox I mean, that's just like, your opinion, man. for me, it does come completely ironic. it's the definition of ironic.
this is her interpretation of the song. she can do whatever she wants. that’s the beauty of covers: adding a new touch to a song instead of simply karaoke.
@@lizmoss nobody said she can't do what she wants? flipping a bleak ending to be hopeful detracts from the tone and point of the song. that's literally all i was saying.
it shouldn't be controversial to say "this is a good cover but i don't like the end and here's why" ya friggin weirdo.
I think it’s really cool when you can just jack someone’s music because of its recent popularity and have your fans think it’s yours! What an amazing time to be alive.
it's called doing a cover.
have you ever heard of a cover i-
Inside is a cultural phenomenon, I doubt anyone is under any delusion about who wrote this song
Bro. Her and bo are friends and he totally let her cover this……
@@FeltonHM it's called doing a meteocre cover.
She somehow managed to make the song sound completely dull. Quite an achievement.
this has to be some kind of joke. how does this exist.
Big news for annoying people
This barely qualifies as a performance.
What are your qualifications for a performance o'lord?
