The Toyota 4Runner Is WAY BETTER Than Any Jeep Wrangler.

  • Put a description in here as to why the Jeep sucks and even though I loved my Jeep I do not miss it. Toyota 4Runner is much more good truck. Some sort of description that reflects why Jeep Wranglers are fun, but for like a weekend. Remember to include that thing about how Wrangler owners suffer from Stockholm syndrome and all need serious de-programming. Why is the Toyota 4Runner a better truck than a Jeep? Is it reliability, capability, comfort or some combination of all of these? Don’t forget to answer those in the description. Oh yeah, has anyone seen my hat?

    Agreed. Just switched from a Jeep Wrangler JL to a 4Runner. It’s a lot easier to live with.

    Long term reliability is my main concern. That's why I went with a 5th gen 4Runner. Wranglers are great vehicles if you're looking to lease an off-road capable vehicle. You can then turn it back in and all the inevitable wiring and performance issues can become somebody else's problem.

    My friends bought Jeep Rubicon’s 2019, fully loaded. I bought a 2019 TRD Pro 4Runner , so far on some intermediate and one advanced trail , I’ve kept up. On the advanced road we took. They had better approach angles and from factory had bigger and better tires. So stock for stock they did out perform me off road in some areas however, my resale value. Interior, reliability. I’m going to have to spend more on mods because Toyota tax to keep up with my friends but slowly in due time, one mod at a time.

      The good news is you will get to enjoy your mods longer because the jeeps will fall apart in a few years anyways.

    Ugh. I’m trying to convince myself of this. JK/JL Rubicons vs TRD Pro 4Runners. The pros and cons send the scale teetering back and fourth, but build quality keeps rearing its ugly head… The sheer architecture of any Wrangler makes it incredible offroad (beam axles and approach/departure/break over angles, electric lockers, sway bar disconnects, ect.), but it’s cost-cutting appointments and propensity for failures really hold it back for me. The 3.6 Pentastar and 8 speed auto is SO NICE to drive, but its failures are just waiting you; and for every customer without any real solutions from FCA. When a Jeep Mechanic told me of the nation-wide back order on replacement oil cooler assemblies and “this and that” for all 3.6 Wranglers, I shook his hand, thanked him, and walked away from the dealership.

    I’ve driven both. Multiple gen Jeeps and Toyota tacomas and 4Runners. Earlier gens for both I’d rather buy than any of the new stuff. They’re both capable machines, there’s just more options available to customize a Jeep vs a toyota. Plus people don’t even off-road either so it makes no difference.

    I have a Rubicon Wrangler and a TRD OR 4Runner. Stock for stock the Jeep is better off road. And with 120k miles on the Jeep no issues so far. 4Runner is definitely more comfortable. I drive the Jeep with no hard top and even no doors quite often.

    Sold my GX460 (better than a 4runner in every way) and got a jeep 392 wrangler rubicon. Toyota sucks at making cool cars. Your jeep and 4runner were both slow and mall crawler modded. But for texas that's fine. But no 4runner will compete with a jeep. Eventually, you will go to a jeep if you plan on doing hard trails. But if your just car camping it will be perfect.

    • @Doomzdayxx
      @Doomzdayxx 11 місяців тому +1

      460's are nice but it's delusional to say they're better than a 4Runner in every way. More luxurious for sure. A bit more powerful. Powertrain reliability is comparable. They're smoother than 4Runners on the road for sure as well.
      GX 460: It's not as off-road capable. It requires premium gas. The front ends look silly. they lose a LOT of value just driving off the lot, as opposed to 4Runner which holds its value more than almost anything else. the frames of the 460 are thinner and therefore weaker. And among many other things, the 460's cost about $11k more than even the highest trim 4Runner.

    I got both a 2021 4runner limited a 2005 4runner SR5 with a 4.7L engine and a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon with a 3.6L engine, Im a car dealer and a hunter too sorry I have to disagree with you, 1st of all a wrangler specilay the Rubicon has way much higher re-sale value , Wrangler consumes way less gas , The warngler has an 8speed transmission unlike the 4Runner has a 5 speed transmission , my rubicon made it to places that the 4Runner no way on earth could have made it when I was on a moose hunting trip, I think you had the JK not the JL , by the way I just ordered another 2022 Rubicon that will arrive in Mar, the new 4Runner are made cheap unlike the older ones, my 2005 4Runner beats my 2021 4Runner but the Rubicon beats them all, I think you regret selling your wrangler and you trying to convince yourself , cheers bud

      Congrats--if I ever decide to go moose hunting I'll consider the wrangler. For everything else, the 4Rubber is "way" better than any wrangler, at anything. And forget hardcore off-roading. No one is taking a $50-60K truck hard core off-roading.

    • @Doomzdayxx

      Jeeps do have a high resale value, which is strange, because of their reliability issues. But they're comparable resale value to 4Runners and Tacomas. That's just a fact.
      People generally like the 5 speed transmission. They're very simple and smooth. Also, far more reliable than anything Chrysler/fiat has ever made, and that goes for the engine as well. 4Runner powertrains are overbuilt, underpowered, bad on gas, but simple, smooth, top tier reliability, and that's why we like them.

    Im not saying toyota isnt more reliable but man you got unlucky with that jeep lol. My dad had 200k before his got stolen and i have 80k and i would have destroyed the toyota already. Well, unless i spent like 4k on the front ifs lol. I used to have a habit of driving 80-90pmh jumping frozen berms on the lake. I know the 2012-2013 jeeps models had more issues before they changed stuff. Maybe one day ill get a toyota just for the reliability but then id have to spend so much more to get it even to the jeep i have now. 1 ton steering, suspension, tires, rear locker, all together is a lot cheaper than the mods id need for the toyota IFS with the jeep's mods. I suppose it also depends on the offroading you do, you see a lot more toyotas stranded from breaking tierods/balljoints in stock form compared to the jeep(which rarely happens with 33s/35s). Im also curious how the toyota 4.0 v6 or 4.7 v8 would handle high rpms for extended periods. The aluminum block 3.6 is fairly ok at it, and doesnt really heat soak that bad

    • @murphthebeast
      @murphthebeast Рік тому

      The block and transmission were bulletproof, it’s all the crap attached to it that seemed to fail. Super disappointed in the plastic oil filter housing down below the intake manifold where it gets lots of heat and vibrations.
      Off roading I definitely worried less about the Jeep. The thing I hate to admit is… since we picked up some super cheap Polaris SXSs from a equipment auction those are the only things that get to go off-roading. I really don’t mind about snapping a axle when a new one is $70 with free shipping and a 30 min swap! Don’t think I can off-road a real truck again.
