No punches were blocked that day.
Some guys don't know how to duck or step back
They were blocked however it was with the face 🤣
Blocking is for cowards.
Lol
@@kingleech16 Blocking is for protection so you dont loose💀
watching this during the cold war was an experience, will never forget the theatre reaction when he knocked out drago, the entire place was cheering and some even stood up, and this was in canada...
What year did you see it in theatres?
@@kingbishop1 late 85 or early 86, don't remember exactly
Sit down and shut up. I’m watching the movie.
Same place this fight was filmed. 😂🇨🇦
Yeah, I remember watching that movie here in the United States when it came out. Everybody was cheering. No, it seems like the rules are reverse and the United States for the bad guys. Evil People running our country right now and it sucks.
Mike Tyson: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."
Rocky Balboa: "Hold my pet turtle."
That was Rocky’s plan 😂
Man, this clip never gets old!
Dolph Lungren's only best film.
Rocky went and punched down the Berlin Wall once he finished this fight. True story
Lol. With his face.
Rocky always did a great job of absorbing all the damage with his face
History’s greatest boxing chin
Dolph Lundgren was a super super fit man back in his day... a genuine Kyokushin fighter that could fight like a thrashing machine.
Highly intelligent too
Not sure if its true or not, but supposedly Dolph had to pull his punches. Sly wanted to see if he could take his punches full go.....Dolph cracked Sly's ribs and was in the hospital. This, of course, delayed production of the movie.
During a practice round, Sylvester Stallone told Dolph Lundgren to "really go at it" like how normal boxers do for 15 seconds. He ended up with a swelling pericardia sac around his heart and had to be rushed to the emergency room by plane. His insurance company thought he was faking it, saying that his injuries looked more "from head-on collisions when the steering wheels hit you in the chest". Stallone replied, "Have you seen Dolph Lundgren?! That's a truck! That's a steering wheel! That's a head-on collision!" His insurance company honored the claim soon after that.
@@digitaldigdug7811Geez, that brings back a memory flash...I think you might be right there.
I recall Dolph Lundgren from back in 1981 and 1982 when he won the European Kyokushin championship or Kickboxing championship. Nobody had really heard too much of him.
Then, he started being talked about in Black Belt, or Inside Kung Fu or Kick, or Kickboxer. They were the 4 martial arts magazines of the era.... I used to buy them when in year 11 and 12 at the time.
If I remember correctly, he had an awesome reputation when he first came out of Europe.
Kyokushin had this thing for brutal training to build resistance to pain. They regularly used to do demonstrations where they would break baseball bats with shin kicks.... the good ones.. total lunatics used to break several at a time.
I remember seeing photos of Dolph Lundgren in Australia in 1982 with a Kyokushin guy called Tony Bowden (?)... he was the Australian heavyweight bat breaking lunatic.
Rocky IV was made in 1985. I remember that story about him breaking Stallone's ribs quite well... because Stallone had started fancying himself as a bit of a boxer by that stage....Lundgren ended the illusion.
@@caras2004 Rocky IV was made around 1985… I remember hearing this story back then that Lundgren had broken Stallone’s ribs. Stallone had made three Rocky movies and started fancying himself as a bit of a boxer. Lundgren dispelled that illusion.
In 1981 / 1982, I was in my final years at high school. Dolph Lundgren started being featured in martial arts magazines I used to collect. He came to Australia (1982) and met the Australian Kyokushin Heavyweight Champion…. Tony Bowden? I remember seeing the photos of them together… Lundgren might have beaten Bowden at the time.
Kyokushin had a reputation for brutal training and resistance to pain back then…. Or they did here in Australia. They used to break baseball bats with shin kicks and fight full contact without pads etc.
Nobody on this green earth could take punishent like that and live! Only in the movies!

Rocky using his head to block the punches 😅👍
That way he never really got hurt
Stallone said in one of his interviews dolph put him in hospital for 9 days due to hitting him in chest so hard for a scene in the ring
LOL.
Rocky: "Uh-oh...here comes another punch at my solar-plexus...(blocks w/ face)
Rocky: "Yikes he's throwing at my liver...(blocks with chin)....lol
@@daveholtz2528 You;re using terms Rock would never understand
es correcto, de todos esos golpes, por eso se dan las cosas como se dan en ROCKY V.
I love the way he defends himself with his head. He maneuvers his head very skillfully onto the oncoming punches.
Well he didn't want to hurt his arm
His inner Rambo was activated 😂😂
My personal favorite of all the Rocky movies! The nostalgia is strong with this one!
I agree wholeheartedly! This was the very 1st Rocky movie I ever saw as a kid at that time.
All the people dragging this and other Rocky movies don't get it. Sure, they're far from cinematic art, and sure, we know these fights are totally unrealistic. But the rest of us out there can check our disbelief at the door and enjoy these movies for what they are. Which is popcorn movies, and sometimes only a popcorn movie will scratch that certain itch for such most moviegoers have. Stallone is great at making these movies and at their best, they're a rousing good time. Works for me!
I get that, however, the first two were leagues apart from the rest, the story of how underdog took the unbeatable champ the distance, to cause a rematch wasn't too corny.
@@dubiouscaesar3709 Fair answer, there. The last three did become increasingly corny, I agree. But "Rocky Balboa", from the look if it, made up for that a bit.
IKR, IF YERR CAN CHANGE AND ICANCHANGE, WE CAN ALLL CHANGE!!
That's why during covid Stallone worked on a director's cut so the movie would be less corny.
Thats the thing 1 is a masterpiece, 2 is a very good movie.
3 is bad and 4 is an abomination so huge that makes 5 not look that bad in comparison.
Rocky Balboa is another masterpiece and then the Creed movies are all top-notch.
0:53 Rubbing his head like a magic lamp just kills me!😆
and duke going along with it too, for almost 40 years that has been hilarious
When you realize Rocky had to knock out all his opponents. Because it was no way he was winning on points!😂
Actually Rocky 6 he didn't knockout Mason and he did lose on points! the first since Rocky 1. 😂
“And the millions will be chanting his name”
~ The Rock ~
"A stiff jab". That is an understatement if ever there was one.
I watch these Clips every time I workout at home
Maybe they should have told Rocky he’s allowed to hit him back 😂
Can you imagine watching a fight like this nowadays where both fighters just go for it
Don Frye must have been heavily inspired by Rocky
Roman Empire versus a Russian Dynasty. Short versus tall. Meat wave battle. Nobody dies so Rocky prevails!
These two would be corpses with that many direct hits.
think stallone has reached absolute legend status with all the characters he has played out in hollywood, really quite something. i cannot think of anyone with such a strong place as him......
Vladimir Putin watches this movie every night before bed
He underestimated Rocky. Rocky is used to going 15 rounds because he's done it twice before. He's also used to fighting taller and heavier opponents too.
sorry to break it to you but no, this is a movie
And no one is better at blocking punches with his face than Rocky.
Underestimated Rocky ??? THIS IS A HOLLYWOOD MOVIE .... SMH FROM RAW STUPIDITY
Yeah, it was in the script, what else do you think is going to happen. How else could he sustain 15 rounds of brain damage and win.
@@HughRogers609 omg its a MOVIE ....
Drago with all the advantage could not beat the force of nature that is Rocky
IT WAS A MOVIE ....
in the movie yes.. in real life stallone asked dolf to hit him for real. and stallone ended up visiting the hospital.
plot armor is undefeated
Feels even better these days.
I love this scene man
This is no doubt my #1 of the Rocky series
Joking, right?
I remember after this movie putting on my winter gear and running across the Athletic field in 3 feet of snow, I was so exhausted but so motivated! This brought back good memories
Il a tellement travaillé ROCKY 🥊 et drago va s'allonger
Great film 📽
Any one of those punches would knock out the entire heavyweight division 😂
Back before blocking punches was a thing
lol
I've seen all the rocky movies but the scene where he cuts Drago for the first time in Rocky 4 is my favorite because it shows that no amount of steroids can change anything
If he lies, he lies.
The boxing scenes in these movies are almost parodies.
Drago's mistake - he kept going for the head. Nothing to hurt there.
Get em Rock!
Of all the Rocky movies this is the one I couldn't buy into. No way on God's green earth Rocky could've beaten this guy.
Did you not see the training montage??? It was a sure thing 🤣
Lol. Two Rockies couldn't beat him.
Clubber Lang could beat Drago.
Lundgren's 1-2 looks vicious
long before multiplex theaters when they’d cram a thousand people in one place…i remember the place going nuts when ROCKY finished DRAGO
Legendary
Mike Tyson likes to say that "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." Well...what if getting punched in the face is actually part of the plan?
Throughout the series, Rocky endures superhuman beatings until his opponents become tired and complacent. Then, he strikes, and the opponents have little to nothing left.
Earlier in the film they show Dragos incredible power, I struggle to understand how Rocky could take more than 5 punches to the head at the start of the fight 😂
Super great ending and way to go! HIP,HIP HURRAY for the USA'S very own best - Balboa.❤
I never saw so many gulag workers cheering so loud
Never understood why rocky never ducked lol he was a punching bag more Than an athlete
O Stallone quase morria nesse filme. Dolph Lundgren acertou-lhe com tanta força, que pôs o Sylvester Stallone mais de uma semana no hospital, com o coração inchado. 🤔🧐🙄😕
That's true. I watched Stallone give an interview about it.
You watch this clip and then go back and watch a Tyson fight back when he was in his prime. If a boxer took as many of Tyson's punches like Rocky took punches, he would have been dead in the first round.
Word
He is good actor 👍
In no way, shape or form resembles actual boxing but still a load of fun
Floyd Mayweather Jr was still a child! 😅😝
Unreal
Rocky's streetfighting skills coming to the fore...... didn't drago know rocky fought a slugger named clobber Lang and wrestled with thunderlips. And went 30 rounds with the master of disaster
Two types of pain. That which breaks you and that which makes you. This was the first time in Dragos life he tasted a different type of pain, and it broke him.
Goes to show you can win any fight if you are also the author of the screenplay
Watched this movie, more than 60 times...

1:47 ahhhhhhh!!!!
Why are their hands at their sides? You'd think they'd put their hands up to protect their heads, like, i dunno, actual boxers
That’s not the point lol. The point was a tough guy match. Who could take the most and still stand. It wasn’t about skill it was pure Manly bragging rights
1:52 the partner everyone needs in their corner!
Defense, head movement, and keeping your hands up was not a thing on this day🤦♂️
So true
Love R🥊 ❤
リアルならドラゴの勝ち!しかし映画なので、ロッキー(主人公)の見せ場を作った傑作です。
Both fought with hands down
Frazier's down! Frazier's down!......... oh, wait, that was another fight.
Just like real boxing…
it should be instead of hug and chasing around
Melhor luta da franquia. Bloquear socos é para os fracos.
The commentators ragging on this fight's realism arent taking into account several factors. First of all, Rocky in the movies is almost never depicted as being any more skilled than or even as skilled as his best opponents. His biggest fights he wins through an iron jaw, by taking his opponent's best shots on the chin and then getting in their head when those shots have seemingly no effect. Put yourself in the position of an undefeated juggernaut who hits like a freight train, who has seriously injured or even killed opponents with his punches...and suddenly you find yourself fighting someone who seems to be taking the best you have and laughing at it. Add to the the psychological pressure of knowing what could happen to you if you fail (Cold War era USSR), and it isnt hard to see where Ivan Drago could easily forget all about his technique once he gets desperate and just try to flatten Rocky with sheer force. He's always been strong enough to do precisely that with every other opponent he's faced, so when exhausted and with Rocky in his head, he reverts to what has always done the job in the past.
Also remember that neither one of these fighters is where they are in their universe because of particular boxing skill; Rocky is the US champion because his chin is tough enough to serve as his primary defense, and Drago is the USSR champ thanks to his absurd power. He'd never been pushed to his limit before Rocky. The fact that their fight devolves to a slugfest devoid of all technique makes sense from the standpoint thay neither boxer is really all that skilled compared with someone like Apollo Creed, who lost to Rocky only when Rocky got in his head and lost to Drago because he severly underestimated Drago's power and figured he'd be a pushover. By the time he realized his mistake it was too late.
Point being, the fight turning into a brawl isn't really surprising given that both fighters are more or less brawlers rather than boxers. They have some skill, but their skill isn't usually the deciding factor in their fights.
Drago was given lots of steroids. Also-drago never saw the fight with Apollo as just a simple and playful exhibition. Apollo was playing around at first. Trying to be funny. Drago was NEVER FUNNY. It was all or nothing. Then... Apollo figured it out.... Then ....... It was too late and we all saw that look on Apollo's face when he realized how serious it was with Drago. Ugh.
The last intimate conversation between Apollo and Rocky was so heart wrenching too. Ugh.
This led to Drago's wife leaving him and their son. 😮
Typical woman.
I guess this is where Atom vs Zeus fight of Real Steel movie comes from.
😆😆😆😆😆😆
One of the best moments in cinematic history.
O bem sempre vence
Yup. Cause pro boxers never keep their hands up. They just trade open blows until one of them is brain dead.
Think the commentator in this even said that too - This isn't a boxing match anymore, it's become a street fight.
This reminds me not a little bit of the Fast Show's long big punch up sketch.. mercifully a little briefer than this.
Rocky and his infamous block, using his face. Typical Hollywood theatrics !
During filming Stallone asked lungarten to hit him once for real he did the hospital thought he was hit by a truck.
These two were made of wood. You can hear it.
Funny watching this compared to today's boxing...the ref stops halfway through on alot of situations

In truth, that arena would've been as quiet as an empty church. Every Soviet citizen would be paranoid that the KGB would be watching - Billy Joel demanded the house lights be down at the shows he played in Russia because every time they came up his audience went quiet and stoic for fear of being identified as "enjoying Western music."
