I was only a very young boy when this movie came out. I'm 46 now, and I still get a tear in my eye at the end of this movie. I don't think that will ever change 😊
Bobby was actually the nice one out of all of Johnny’s friends and didn’t wana hurt Daniel. I will always wonder if he could legit beat Daniel in karate match
Everything about the Cobra Kai actors was perfect: Dutch's arrogance, Bobby's reluctance, and Johnny's ultimate decision to do what he knew he shouldn't do. I think there are 20 words of dialogue between them and Kreese in the whole scene: everything else body and eyes.
This movie is synonymous with life. I was facing the decision to end my life in 2018. When I view this scene I think of Johnny as the depression, fear, shame, guilt, self loathing, and anxiety I felt. When the sensei says finish him, I remember being at that point, with the gun in the next room. I was about to take my life in front of my children. I just wanted the pain to stop. Somehow, I was shown what would happen to my daughter and my son. I was shown that the trajectory of their lives would change and they would never, ever be the same again. I thank God I stayed. My life is rich and full today. That little girl is now nearly 17 and that boy is 12. I would have missed out on the lives they are creating. It gets better friends. Hold on for one more day. ❤❤❤
"In life, we always lose our way. But I've learned that it's people, not the signs, that guide us back to the right path." -Mr. Miyagi, Season 3 of Cobra Kai
Years and years of watching fight scenes after this movie (fighters on invincibility mode/polished choreographed moves) you realize how great they filmed the last 20 minutes of this movie. It was anxious, awkward, frustrating and realistic. I watch this now and still feel overwhelmed like a high school loner.
Kids, if a man stands over your bed and tells you to close your eyes and then starts rubbing his hands together, unless it’s Mr. Miyagi, you call the cops immediately.
I'm pretty sure everyone else noticed it, but it's interesing how Johnny's movements are more sparatic in the final match, showing his frustration. Compared to Daniel's movements, whose are calm and calculated. Those minute details. Perfect.👌👋
I love how Johnny plays out the whole “you make good fight, earn respect” lesson when he congratulates Daniel on a good match. He doesn’t care that he’s been dethroned as the defending champion but Daniel has proven he’s an equal rival.
Quite the opposite. Now Cobra Kai makes it look so evident. Karate Kid is about cartoonish, cliche characters and situations, good vs evil like a comic. Cobra Kai is a much better developed story
Probably because the writers want to make them seem like sworn enemies even though they seem to be chill with each other by the end of this film Miyagi also saves Johnny from Kreese so if anything that would’ve brought Daniel and Johnny closer as friends, it’s part of the reason why I don’t like some of how Daniel and Johnny’s story with each other is written during the first few seasons of Cobra Kai
Personally I think what happened right after this fight in the opening of the second film, where Kreese breaks Johnny’s second place trophy and starts choking him, completely colored Johnny’s view of his loss, indicated by the show repeatedly flashing back to that scene. Kreese kicked him off the team and didn’t accept Johnny’s ‘I did my best’, which coming from the guy who Johnny referred to as a father figure must have emotionally devastated him, probably more than the loss itself. Considering by the time of Cobra Kai he thought Kreese was dead, and for years saw literal signs of Daniel’s continued success, it makes a lot of sense he grew to transfer all that pain and resentment to a living reminder of ‘where everything went wrong’, since Kreese wasn’t around for him to resent. Daniel for his part seemed to remember leaving things with Johnny on good terms; when they first meet back up he’s friendly enough if a bit arrogant, but not in any way vindictive or mean-spirited. The resentment was all on Johnny’s side, and it was only after he reopened Cobra Kai (which Daniel had a whole other negative experience with in the third film that Johnny wasn’t aware of) that Daniel took issue with him.
This is probably one of the biggest 'feel good' moments for any kid that was bullied back in the day it was all face-to-face. There was no internet or texting back then. If you were bullied, you often got beat, at least until you could manage to stand up to the bullies successfully...or befriend them, which oddly happened sometimes. The fights kids got into back in the 80s aren't much different than what you see on social media today, but it happened a lot more often. You just didn't see it on the news, cause no cell phones back then. All the kids knew about it though, as word of fights got around. Most weren't reported, nor were they recorded, so unless somebody snitched (and omg you never, EVER wanted to be that person, unless you legit had a death wish), the fights flew under the radar. Teachers would mostly turn the eye the other way, unless it was really egregious. But that did happen sometimes, and you might read about it in the newspaper. But it wouldn't make the TV news, since no video of it.
Well, all the bullies in my school ended up either living in the street, with menial jobs, or in prison, and high-school was the high point of their lives. But I think you are right, painting in broad brushstrokes.

im curious at 8:36 johnny punches daniel in the face, when they're tied 2-2. Shouldn't that mean johnny wins? Because daniel kicked johnny in the face with the crane kick so shouldnt that mean face contact is legal?
Daniel, I didn't mean it, I'm sorry. I felt that. He wanted to fight Daniel, clean. Sometimes you can't always listen to the teacher, or in this case, a corrupted sensie.
Actually kick to the head is allowed unless it comes with a force (sorry for my bad english). You see other kick to the heads at the previous rounds. As you can see , Daniel does not hit johnny's head directly but he walks to the kick. That is allowed. My son is doing karate and the tournaments even today are a mess because the rules are too complex. Some kicks are allowed when very similar kicks are disallowed. Especially children's tournaments rules are terrible as the direct contact is forbidden, the hits must get close to the body without touching it. That results in some referees giving the point while the other do not.
@@odenat3701also, speaking from over a decade of Tang Soo Do experience, masters can be _extraordinarily_ petty and political when it comes to determining what is and isn't a penalty. Based on the reputation Kreese and Cobra Kai have in the franchise (the second film begins with 2 of the referees criticizing Kreese to Daniel and Mr. Miyagi), I'm pretty sure that Daniel could've smuggled a flail into the ring Aran Ryan-style and gotten away with it.

I love these two. This makes me appreciate Cobra Kai more ❤❤
Like the way Daniel has a blackbelt, it takes years to win a blackbelt.
I bought mine at Walmart and it only took me 15 minutes
@@alanparedes2034also got my brown belt there to lol.
I'm almost at black belt😮
Jc penny 2.99
Bruce Lee didn’t have a belt. 😂😂
He didn’t need one!
This was a great movie then and still is…even though that was the most telegraphed kick I’ve even seen 😂
Bobby even Apologized
Funny. One of Johnny's moves in the 1st Cobra Kai game is "sweep the leg" 😂😂
I always wanted Johnny versus Barnes and im glad we finnaly got that haha.
Cobra Kai could've won if Kreese wasn't telling them to cheat
Would Cobra Kai be Cobra Kai if he didn't tell to cheat?
Great actorim ur fan greatmovies
Bobby said I'm sorry man he made me
Bobby may have been a Cobra, but he did know when enough was enough.
@@Metalman200xdamnit thats what I'm saying
"Justice for Johnny" - Cobra Kai 💯😂
From the ONLY BLACK DUDE WITH THE brown BELT in the 'ALL Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament' From Cobra Kai!! 😂
Music score is perfect.
i love this movie and the cobra kai series
Such a good kick bro
I am German. The film is perfectly synchronized in German, BUT
I prefer it in English. And let me tell you: what a great film, what fantastic actors, especially Ralph Macchio and all around him. What a great film.
6:56 “Johnny you’re a cream puff”.
3:16 Just now noticed the look of utter disgust Lawrence and they one next to him had towards Kreese who was happy to win by injury.
"Johnny you’re a cream puff" 🤣🤣 seen this movie about 50 times never noticed that line before!
@@davesmith5482 just got done watching season one of cobra Kai. I was hoping it would have been in the final fight scene.
You think you just fell out of a bonsai tree?? 😂
“But I’ll be disqualified!” I can imagine Bobby saying, “But I wanted to go to Tosche station to get some power converters.”
7:32 people say the crane kick shouldn’t count, but forget this 😂😂😂
At the same time, 6:30 I had to watch again and he hit his arm or his torso
im curious at 8:36 johnny punches daniel in the face, when they're tied 2-2. Shouldn't that mean johnny wins? Because daniel kicked johnny in the face with the crane kick so shouldnt that mean face contact is legal?
Wasn't there full contact on both sides ?? at the END?
Daniel, I didn't mean it, I'm sorry. I felt that. He wanted to fight Daniel, clean. Sometimes you can't always listen to the teacher, or in this case, a corrupted sensie.
I was 12 yr when this came out ,imagine that ,now i am world Karate champion and have olympic gold medal .
not just finished... a 2 point kick in the yapper,,,, excellent....
Rules of the tournament: kicks to the head are not allowed. Final Point is a kick to the head 😂
😈:Finish him!
🥷: *kick in the face
Shang Tsung: FATALITY!
nice
5:01 damn that’s a LOUD clap
