Thank you so much for this video it truly saved me! I was exiting a parking garage and had put my car in park while I inserted the ticket. When I tried to switch it to drive it wouldn’t budge! I was stuck on the downhill exit ramp with cars trying to exit behind me! I was freaking out and was trying to get roadside assistance but it was going to take over an hour. Luckily I didn’t have to deal with an angry crowd because the workers moved the exit over a lane but I was still anxious. I was searching for a solution while I was waiting to get a service provider and found this video. It was a life saver!!! After struggling for 30 minutes thinking it was my battery or something else I used this trick and got my car to shift into drive again 😭 I’m so thankful! Will be getting my car checked out soon for safety but this video was a life saver!
Hi just literally bought a 2013 Skoda Octavia 1.6tdi auto,whilst driving it home on a roundabout all gears went.Could not move the car then suddenly went back into drive.Any ideas???..In 2021 had a £700 gearbox overhaul.Your expertise advice would be gratefully appreciated.Do you think it could be that yellow switch your showing in the video that needs replacing??Thanks.👍👍.
Thanks man my shifter for my volkswagen Passat is stuck in park but the dash says I’m in reverse. This video was the only way I could start my car. Any idea why shift knob might be stuck in park but car still thinks it’s in reverse?
My VW Polo 6r 1.4 2010 model, I drove it fine during the morning hours, around afternoon when I tried to start it, it wouldn't start and the "P" was blinking on the gear lever, and can't move the gear stick, the gears wouldn't show on the dashboard either. Tried to push the car but it couldn't be pushed as the tyres are somewhat locked. What could be the cause?
Hello! If you have a dead baterry, the gear stick is locked and you won’t unlock it until you replace the car battery with a new one. If you can’t move the gear stick from “P”, the car can’t be moved.
@TUTORIALE AUTO the battery is OK, about 5 months old, and when I turn the ignition on, the dash lights are on and the Radio is working, only the gear won't show on the dash but blinking on the lever, I haven't tried this technique yet as I'm away from the car, will try it tomorrow as you've explained in this video, if it doesn't work, I'll let u know
@mustapheradanpluged1120 I'm not really sure, but one mechanic told me that it was the TCM it needed replacement, I bought it, after putting it the problem continued, another mechanic came, removed the new TCM, put back the old TCM and did some Coding, basic settings stuff and since then it's working fine, so I don't really know what was the cause cz the mechanic didn't explain clearly
My car facing gear shift at parking side, during starting the car engine, the dashboard display showing the reverse signal and the car totally down and can't start, any advise?
I was waiting on the parking lot for maybe 20 minutes with the engine off, and when i started the car to drive away, I put it on Drive but the car would'nt move at all. What could it be. I will take it to the garage. It was working fine, never had problems before.

Hi! No, it’s not from that. You have to make a dyagnose to the gearbox to check it out, maybe you have a technical problem with the gearbox.

Why is this needed? Is it because of a mistake that appears "leave vehicle only when selector in position p" ?
Is this needed in case of emergency (to move the car on the side) and your battery is dead.

Mine is locked in Neutral. I can start & even drive it, but I can't go up past Neutral to Park & I can't get my keys out.
You have a problem with gearbox.
If you checked what was the problem with the gear been stucked
