I was a truck driver. Came in off the road. Wanted to relax. Backed my pick up into the back yard to hook up the boat. It was gone.Wife sold it. Said it sits for a month at a time. Told her So do you! Got rid of the wife and got a new boat.! Living happily ever after !!!

You did an amazing job on this boat! My 15 year old son came across your video last summer and we decided to use it as a guide our conversion. You did an amazing job. I have been building boats for the last 3 years and have always been around boats and fishing since I was 5. I can relate with you on a lot of this. Built 4 boats already. However be careful because it's addicting and frustrating... A year ago I gave up at one point and found myself at Cabela's dropping 30k on a bass boat... Amen to the wives that let us do these things. We own 5 boats and I want more LOL

I am a recent retiree and live in a retirement community that has several lakes that are limited to boat size and less than 10 HP gasoline motor. Although, I know I will never compete with the professionals, this type fishing is something I can do and enjoy for many years. For anybody looking to do this I would suggest you get as wide a boat as your budget allows. You see folks doing 14x36 boats and I can tell you from experience those boats are very tippy and wobbly and can be easily considered dangerous when you get those high decks on them. You heard him say himself his boat is very wobbly.

Hey Chris sorry for the delay UA-cam has delayed comments for some reason. Hey I changed the Motor from a 10hp to a 15 hp Johnson and it is Dark Grey. The Motor is perfect and looks GREAT. Runs faster and shoots out of the hole now. I felt that the Mercury just wasn't doing the job. I will be doing another Video out of this boat soon. Sad to say I have not fished from it yet☹️ But that's about to change. Thanks for the comment and hope ya check back soon for another.

Home depot has 3/4 marine grade plywood sheets. The glue is rated to not dissolve when wet.
Right now it’s only 1200 bucks a sheet!

I have a new 1542 and am torn of how to make it ideal for both fishing and family cruising (20hp makes it scoot, troller helps my son and I pretend to catch fish). Might start with a rear deck like yours and some nice carpeted floor boards in middle and front like your middle section.

The results of the build are very good. You should prep and paint that trailer too. You would not only have increased its value, but you would have a really nice looking setup overall.

Excellent job on the boat I especially like the double seats in the back. I've got a 14-ft aluminum jon boat that I'm planning on modifying and I like those plastic swivel seats and I like how you raise the the seat level on the back.

Really nice looking finished project! I’m curious how much weight all the wood added. I noticed someone asked how much lower it sits in the water. When my father and I converted a 16-foot SeaArk tunnel hull jon boat, we used heavy-gauge aluminum (welded) for the front and rear decks and the floor. And instead of carpet used marine vinyl flooring. Set up was slightly different with a side console for running and just two high-back removable seats for fishing. (one front with trolling motor and one on back deck) But with an older 2-stroke 70 hp motor, could run inshore on a plane with half a crab trap showing. Man I miss that boat!

Very good job to help you with the wobbly in the front of the boat 50 lb bag of sand in the bottom in the front of the boat it will help to stabilize
Hey thanks for the tip. I have a battery there now it's just the narrowness of the beam at the front that creats that wobble and being up so high. I may try your idea and just see what happens. Great idea for sure it will help tuck that beam down a little deeper.

Do you have a video on the electrical hook up? Love the boat!!!! I'm doing what you did. But mine is a deep V that my buddy just didn't want anymore and I basically stole it too. Lot's of work to make the trailer road safe, and now it's the boat's turn.

I would have used aluminum for the floor and decks. weighs less no rot no paint. Carpet over.Use plastic conduit to ron wires. Use expansion foam cut to fit after expansion. Will last for ever except carpets.
Hey Robert and thanks for the comment. Man I tell ya I had studied long and hard on how to do this and originally thought of Aluminum. One of the facts about the Aluminum it is no doubt lighter but more costly also. Next if I decide to tear down the front deck I'm not out as much Cash. Great ideas though. i live in selmer tn and i have trouble finding a good deal on my budget, im an irac vet and i cant get out there and hunt for deals so i got the internet but not really working, i loved your vid man and if i had alot of subs i would tell everyone to go to your channel, you really make people want to do that to there boat and like i said if i had one id do it today, keep going bro you never know whos watching these vids. thanks man, if not just for the dream of having one

Next I'd like to say I was lucky to have found this boat at the price I got it for and only wanted the trailer for my Kayak. But as you know some Men just can't be happy without spending money😂 My Wife knows everything😂 But seriously. I thought I got it and should just do it. Make it a Boat I could enjoy for going out and just fishing from. I didn't have any reasons to spend big money on a Bass Boat like others. So here ya go...My dream boat. @take2fishing I did a video on my main channel about a scooter I bought- shit idk how many years ago but I found every year around summer time people search scooters and views spike. Same with Jon boat mods i suspect! Don't forget to periodically change the title and #. Keeps new people coming
