Thank you for this! I'm am restoring some old metal trunks and wanted something that would remove the surface rust and maintain it without grinding, painting etc. I want to keep the original surface and the 'old' feel.
I cant believe nobody knew this, from reading the comments. My grandpa showed me this in 80s. Used it on my bmx bikes because id leave them outside. You can use it for the same things as Goo be gone too. Like peeled off stickers or sap. Look up all the uses for wd 40.
I figure there's SO much information floating around out there these days, it's hard for many of us to know even the "common" stuff. :) Sounds like you had a grandpa like mine.
Cast iron? I thought the rust would become deeper and deeper? WD40 is really good product for most people It got multi function But careful its quite thin layer Once i use it to clean the bearing on the pull gate. It do great job, clean it well and get into those tiny gap, I though it is enough, but the problem is, it got too clean, some dirt may move around with the wd40 , it also remove the rust on the rail too Make the damage even more.
Excellent video. I’d heard WD-40 could remove rust but wanted to see it in action. Thanks for posting.
You're welcome!
I’m taking a light metal shelf outside and need to know what I could use to keep it from rusting, thank goodness I have some WD40 on hand!
Thank you!
Awesome
Thank you! I have a rusted cast iron planter and these tips will be perfect.
Glad it was helpful!

Can I use this on a vehicle?
I think you could use WD-40 on a pound cake. ;)
Mind blowing!
Thanks!
