yeah it was never meant to be. after being in the discord server for a year with no progress i just left p9ndas server and the unturned blackout server
Blackout was dead before paradox left, tbh it died bcs of this overhype at start after the playtests, when you had 2 hours very 3-7 days it was very interesting and fun, but when you had an option to grind 24/7 you just got bored after a week, that's all also imo unturned community has 4 groups 1 - Pvp players playing a lot of high pop servers 2. Pve - singleplayer such players didn't even know about blackout because they don't like pvp, they just kill zombies and do quests? 3. Casual players playing vanillas, low pop servers - they probably won't join server such blackout 4. Chinese community - You know that they exist and that's all
As a wise man once said, "Ignorance is bliss.", this means the less you know the happier you will be. Another way of taking it would be the older you get the wiser you become, the wiser you become the more you think, the more you think the more you feel depressed and sad, the more you start to doubt your existance. Also if you feel depressed go to your nearest medical service provider to get the help you need.
Blackout's demise was inevitable from the start and could only be slowed down, the gameplay loop established from the beginning was getting stale after 2 weeks, balancing issues that weren't addressed as soon as possible had a huge impacts *cough* SMG's melting from 40 meters *cough*, killstreaks being a trauma inducing tool of war, flaws with the maps being mainly numerous out of bounds spots on all maps (counted ~30 in total on release) and players starting out later would get stomped by sweatlords having a level twice as high or more, ultimately the issue was "solved" by making low level only lobbies but the damage was already done, a system of taking a player's level and the server picking who goes to which team to make the level average on both teams similar would've been incredibly impactful on the feel of the game and not making it a 50/50 chance to get put into a team of 10s or a team of 50s. Nothing can be done about it now but credit goes where credit's due Blackout was fun while it lasted. 🕋

because Blackout isn't a company or corporation the works of Paradox are his own intellectual property, therefore Paradox is legally and morally permitted to do whatever he wants with the code (which includes selling it for monetary gain). As for all these "agreements" on who gets paid what, they're purely verbal contracts and thus non-binding, so Paradox is basically never going to get his money from P9 because there's no consequences besides bad PR for P9 not paying the guy. Regardless of who is right or wrong all this infighting is truly an Unturned Staff moment
Interesting how you split the two points between mismanagement and division. I personally think a third point to keep in mind would be the phycology behind the average Unturned player. Blackout had issues with the player count (continuously growing off-hours) before mismanagement and division become apparent. Players don't want to join unless they assured that the server will be active, creating a horrible loop.
lets be fr, p9 is just known for lying, twisting, and manipulating stories, and not being a good boss, he tries to save his own self image and to make as much money as he possibly can. he trys to save his self image is apparent because he makes massive twitter threads about criticism, bans people from discord servers for criticizing his work. when it comes to p9 making anything, ive learned to expect him to leave and abandon whatever he makes if it gets ANY negative feedback and criticizing feedback.
I think it flopped because at the end of the day people love PVP in the game, but you can't get it all the time, part of the rush of unturned is the same as rust, building bases, hiding from other players and seeking them out across the map and not just in corridors
pvp is amazing when its sprinkled throughout survival. I hate constant PVP. The gameplay loop in regular unturned works and theres a good reason for that.
tbh, its 100% ok if paradox leaks the code because he has ownership of the code. he is the creator of the code and so he is perfectly allowed to sell the code or even leak it. also its funny how even roblox games can outclass this, take of example the game "phantom forces", it was made in 2014 and in the works for more than a year. and it blew up. it sits at 2k - 5k players yet the code is complete dogshit and it still beats this impressive ass project, the reason i know the code is complete ass is because i have a stolen version of it and the code is complete ass, amazing vid btw.

I can't believe I watched a 35 min video about a mod for a game I haven't played since the time I had an Intel Pentium Windows xp pc. Nonetheless you did great well put together video. Also someone naming themselves Paradox is very confusing for people who played games made by a company named Paradox Interactive, for a bit I actually thought the Company Paradox had a hand in all of this.
The whole situation is a shame honestly, I havent talked to p9 about the situation, since i know hes the kind of a person who would rather keep the failures behind and keep working on what he loves, so i cant say much at all. I have been witnessing the development of blackout sometimes first hand, sometimes not, from "shh its a secret" to the release itself. Although the idea of the server is oversaturated, it did seem like a good pick for something to make that was never done in unturned before. Anyway, i didnt and dont talk to paradox, but i could tell that both him and p9 were real stressed throughout the whole development, so the grim dms dont surprise me. Personally i think that the stress that came from developing the game and managing it was the reason it all came down, the emergency surgery for p9 and the flooding for paradox probably was the breaking point. Whether p9 not paying or paradox not being happy with the money are true, its still a shame. I heard that paradox did sell the code, so i hope something good will come out of it in terms of servers in the future after all.
With respect, work on catching yourself being redundant. That intro would make my liver fail for the amount of times you repeated yourself and I was playing a drinking game for it.
if you want to get more views from playing other games wich you should do you need to post videos of other games more often because right now everybody only watches your unturned videos because you built your channel around unturned this is the worst thing you can do as a youtuber to build your channel around a single game

p9 stole the one life only unturnov challenge from me, i was playing on his server and wanted to do a vid bout it but i died on the first run lmao. then 2 weeks later his vid comes out (ps: i told some guys in chat bout it, thats most likely how he found out about it)
Unfortunate to see the most ambitious Unturned server project end like this. At its core the issue was just that both P9s and Paradoxes expectations for how the server would perform were higher than reality. The tricky thing with a fast pvp server like Blackout is that in order for such servers to be playable, they require a certain amount of players. Issue here is if the server doesn’t have enough players on, no one wants to join which just results in a dead server. I was involved in a similar server project before that remade CSGO in Unturned. The server did t work out for the same reason Blackout didn’t
Since the code has been leaked that is entirely plausible but I think P9nda didn't want to make it open source because he wanted a monopoly on the game mode in order to profit off of it more efficiently.
P9nda really did not play his cards well, Blackout could, have been huge, it would have been huge, and now its gone. What a waste, P9nda seriously fucked up what could have been great
i loved p9ndas unturnov server, easily the best one out there. only got to play blackout for maybe 6-7weeks before it was shutdown, and it was always a bit dead, but it was so much fun when ppl were online. rip blackout
