When holding a girl's hand while walking her home MEANT SOMETHING!!! When I had to show HER parents MY report card, so they knew I wasn't a THUG or IDIOT!!! And, when she first KISSED ME...I SWORE that I had a brief visit to HEAVEN!!! When we bought ONE milkshake but had TWO straws!!! When $5.00 at MCDONALD'S would feel you AND your date... WELL!!! The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. God....take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.
Amen - I was 13 when the Beatles broke up, so I lived the best years of my life in that decade. I can sing the words to at least 100 songs from that paradise of music. I am so grateful 🌞
Takes me back to a time when I was little, open to everything that played over the radio, and largely ignorant to the troubles of the world. Sometimes I long for that fantasy to be here again. Beautiful music.
Neil Sedaka has more talent in his pinky finger than 99.99% of the artists (or "artists") on the charts today combined! Such an amazing songwriter with a wonderful voice that brings the songs to life in the best way possible!
....So very much true!!! I most definitely second the motion... And the emotion... Long Live Music.. Long Live Musical Journeys... Longer Live Musical Love Memories... Peace...
I heard this in Walmart today. I started singing in the aisles. I haven’t done that since I had my thyroid removed 4 yrs ago. I sound terrible now but it still made me happy for a minute. ❤
1974, I’m 20 years old and this song knocks me over with its smoothness. I didn’t have anyone in my life just then but wanted someone to walk in the rain with, to walk anywhere with. Somehow this tune helped me feel hopeful that someday it would happen. Such good memories with this one. This one takes me back to a carefree time.
Timeless tune and ageless Neil Sedaka! I've been listening for nearly 50 years since it first came out in my middle school years in 1975. Love it! Thank you, Mr. Sedaka for makung my adolescence so memorable.
Same here, 57 also, I've loved this man's music for so long and will always listen to him. I lost the one that I held hands with, walked in the rain with and enjoyed laughing with so much last year after 23 years of marriage. I can still hear him humming this song while working on his car in the garage. Timeless memories that will never be forgotten.
I was mostly into rock but I also loved many genres and Neil Sedaka was a favorite! Me and my good buddy used to go to a karaoke bar and sing Calendar Girl! Everybody applauded! Sadly my buddy passed but I will see him again GOD willing. Amen. Thank you Mr Sedaka and Thank YOU FATHER!
Makes me think of the Rocket Record label on this song ... spinning around and 'round on our stereo as my tiny self would watch, ... back in the mid 70s ....
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon in Germany and my "girlfriend" and I went to the library. We were both in seventh grade and in love. We went to the library to hang out. We carved our initials on one of the desks with our pens and drew a heart around it with - I love you. Then we went to a record store and bought this record as a 45 single. That became our song and I can literally still feel her hand in mine and the raindrops falling on me when I hear that song. Her name is Manuela O. and I can still hear her laughing in the rain after all these decades! Thank you Manuela for your love, friendship and a perfect afternoon. We've been married for six months. We met again.

As a musician, l will try to play and sing this beautiful song now to remember those good old days. Thanks again. Best wishes

When this wonderful song became a hit back in the day, Neil Sedaka visited San Francisco with a high caliber backup group and appeared at the Boarding House club. I attended the show that was so great that I developed a lasting high respect for Mr Sedaka to this day. I’ve seen LOT of shows and concerts over the years, but this has always been one of my favorites!
This gotta be one of the most beautiful romantic love songs ever written. So connected to one of nature's greatest gifts and no big dramas, just the pure simple joy of being with your love.
I was in Junior High when this wonderful song came out. Our school bus had a radio with speakers throughout the bus. The driver had the radio tuned to the Mighty 610, KFRC San Francisco which played the great hits of the day... Listening to this, I'm 14 again and humming along to this great song.... Thanks for the memories... 😊
This is such a soothing song. No matter what my mood is during the day I can listen to this song & feel warm, cozy and relaxed. They don't make music like this anymore - I love the 70's
The chorus and the way it comes in are truly great. There's the nifty minor third modulation that packs a punch and the wonderful mix of backing vocals and strings to make it perfect.
And so it goes, I’m listening to this great song on this rainy Sunday morning in NY 3/28/21. This song truly put a smile on my face as I remember the so called good ole days. Damn I miss the world in which this music once existed, it’s probably the only way we will get through this twilight zone we seem to be experiencing today. Anyway, carry on, and REPLAY.

Brings the early '70's when I was just a preteen and listened to am car radio and my mom's old 15 year old Magnavox HiFi. I was poor kid but lucky to have mother and grandfather who loved music.
Though Sedaka was far from being the first to employ this style of arrangement, this was one of the songs that laid the blueprint for the soft rock sound that would define the late 1970s. Especially that saxophone solo!
