The m8 114 has a serious issue with the valves leaking. Oil goes into top of pistons and glazed bores at only 100 miles!! Beware of blue smoke on cold start! That’s the first sign
Been riding Harleys since 1972. In the old days we didn’t buy bikes, we built them. Brought home my first Panhead in boxes. Had sportsters, pans, shovels, and twin cam. Just bought 2020 Breakout in Stiletto red. Best bike I’ve ever owned, blows all the others away. Most problems with engines can be traced back to the loose nuts behind the handlebars!
I like how Harley eliminated all vibration. I used to own old Harley's and from my expirence those bikes were wrenched on alot due to over excessive vibration
That's a signature Harley thing. Want a baby smooth bike then ride a honda. I'd rather feel the roughness of an old Harley then any of the new ones. Harkey has lost so many customers with their new bikes and the way they look. Look at the new bobber. Queerest looking bike they make it's not a bobber anymore. Glad I got my 17 dyna before they stopped.

@@wyattsmith9791 you guys are holding Harley back. I'm glad Harley has started making bikes for the modern rider. All you old heads are going to die soon and you just can't help but bring Harley to the grave with you. Harleys new bikes are better in every way from engineering to looks. Now with the sportster s, the nightster and the Pan American we finally see Harley making brand new modern motorcycles that are actually able to compete and beat Japanese bikes. Soon its going to be all new generations of Harley fans that actually appreciate the engineering that Harley puts into their new bikes instead of crying because Harley uses more reliable and better performing technology.
Traded in my 06 Fat boy and 15 Street Glide Special on 19 Tri Glide 114 cc. The reduction in heat is the best. More torque and power. HD did their home work. This Milwaukee 8 is the best yet. Continually surprise the cagers at how quick I leave the light. Takes a little time to get use to the trike after 49 years on two wheels. Never took to my 08 Electra Glide Ultra. Couldn't get past the heat and the height center of gravity with a rider and the tour pack loaded.
The last bike I had was an ‘89 Yamaha VMax I sold in 96 or so. I moved to Florida and decided to get back into riding again. I’ve always wanted a Harley and have ridden a few of my friends and family members’ throughout the years and liked them. I bought an Iron 883 in January and three weeks later, I traded it for a Low Rider. One thing I noticed immediately was the lack of vibration relatively speaking and a nice amount of torque all the way through the power band. I’m really happy with it and have enjoyed having any excuse to ride it.
Thanks a lot for this nice video! I just bought a 2019 road glide 107ci and its a huge improvement over the 103ci Ultra Limited I had before. One thing you didn’t mention in your video is the primary drive on the M8 is much smoother than the twin cam bikes especially at low speed in second gear. It also seems like the primary chain case is narrower on the M8 than the twin cam but that might be my imagination. I’ve been riding 25 years, all kinds of bikes...Honda, Triumph, Yamaha, Harley...I’m very happy with my new M8.
Awesome and well worded video . My 2018 FXLR Low Rider is the best I’ve ever had . ( I’ve owned 13 H-D’s in 43 years ; oldest was a 53’ FL panhead ) I do believe this is Milwaukee’s best effort - with only (2) complaints . 1.) I don’t agree with the placement of the factory installed oil cooler . This was a great addition to the engine , however it totally blocks the “ clean air “ to the front cylinder . I do believe that , like some aftermarket oil coolers on the market , it could have been catching its own clean air off to the left of the frame’s front down tube . This would have allowed the front cylinder to continue to receive its clean air as it always has . 2.) the brakes , although “ better “ , are very inconsistently set up . I have spoken to many a riders of this new softail . They ALL agree that the front brakes are too sensitive , and most men agree that two fingers is the safer and more common way that they apply them . The rear brakes require that you use unnecessary application from your right boot to get the bike to slow / stop . When speaking to my trusted dealership that I have frequented since 1988 ; they explained that the “ engineering department “ at H-D did this intentionally to encourage the use of “ more front brake “ . I shook my head and wondered why they couldn’t let the novice rider learn to ride and not dumb down the pressure required for the rest of us . Also I would have liked to hear more about the M-8’s compression release described and perhaps seen the inside parts and how it works in this very informative video . Thanks for this job well done .
Just traded my 2000 Road King on a Softtail Slim, Been riding Road Kings and "King of the highway ( shovel road king predecessor) forever I need a lighter and lower bike 5'5" 67 yrs, love it a million
Bought the M8 lowrider. changed the stock seat because it's crap, put on V&H slipons. sounds great, drives good, rear brake isn't up to much.very happy with it other than that.
I too bought a 2018 FXLR I am very happy . My two main complaints - The crap seat - as there is no padding for a passenger ! And VERY sensitive front brakes , which I’m getting used to - but seem to have to work “ too hard “ to apply rear brakes ! You and I agree on these , so thanks for saying so , as I now don’t feel alone on this ... Later Ride safe
Just got a 2017 FLHP after riding a 2001 FXDXT for many years and I can say the 107ci is heads and shoulders above the old Cam 88... I gave my FXDXT to my son and he's rebuilding it to his liking down in Tx and hoping to meet up with him half way on the way to Sturgis next year,,,
It took a little time for me to adjust to this motor, but it’s like I like it more and more every time I ride it. I went from 2015 SGS (103ci) to a 2017 Road King Special 107ci , and I love it.
Dual spark plugs and four valves per cylinder which have been used on metric bikes for 25 years now. Everyone is raving about this engine but it’s old news to many of us.
Absolutely love my '19 Heritage 107. Dealer wanted it back, marketing ploy- IDK. I responded what, why? I absolutely love this bike - NO... Not a word since. I've owned many and rode many, but of all I absolutely love this bike...
I have a 2018 SE CVO using about 1 qt of oil every 5,000 miles. Factory said it's normal. Never had a HD using oil. Thing about applying the lemon law.
My stock 2019 107 roadking STANDARD is a torque monster with 35 yrs.of riding everything with 2 wheels it is smooth.(I had other enthusiasts walk up to my bike and place their hands next to my cylinders ,,after 150 mile ride and say how cool my motor was,,,they knew more about my engine than eye did ,,,until now ,,,after watching your content.thanks !!!--Happy Trails ya,ll-!!!☆☆☆
Still surprised by all the Harley hate. I've had Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda all were good. Kids bought me a 2018 low rider. Comparing air cooled to air cooled harley is just as quick if not quicker Definitely easier to hop up. I prefer the Harley. The others never brought 50 mpg plus. Just like politics, no one can just leave people alone .
Nine yrs ago I bought my first harley a 13 hertiage which I still have just flipped to 100000 and still going but a year ago bought a 18 ultra and OMG I love the bike I tell people it's my quiet bike and the hertiage is my loud one
I love mine it is way better than the twin cam on back. I still own a EVO but this bike will run circles around it, best Harley I have ever owned out of several from Panhead on. I have a 2017 Ultra Limited
Pan head still runs just fine thanks! neat motor though, bet it has a ton of power ! these have the be the loudest Harley engines ever ! how ' bout building them entirely here using only American steel and American Workers Like Knucks and Pans were made! Make America Great Again indeed ....
@ yeah , as long as you support the already way over priced HD. You get what you get . Fuk harley davidson greedy bastards. Oh and most of the harley riders I've talked to are Trump supporters. Not snowflakes.
Do a video on the Street lineup or the Revolution X engine, the Street Rod is probably the only note worthy bike out of the lineup with a dual throttle body, hemi piston heads, upgraded fuel injectors and upgraded cams. The revolution x engine in the street Rod is also liquid cooled, and no counter balancers, so you can redline at 9000 RPM and feel every bit of it, in my opinion, it’s an absolutely amazing bike, only 750 CC 64 cubic in, but stock it has 18% more hp and 8% torque over the normal 750 cc revolution x engine that’s in the Street 750. I ran a low 13 sec 1/4 mile on it with pump gas and stock muffler and air intake, yes I said low 13 STOCK, my buddy has a S&S 114 cubic in engine in his road king and he runs 11s
I gotta compliment you on reading the spec sheet accurately, but nearly every reviewer talks about the increase in HP and torque at RPM. Just talking numbers doesn't tell the story of the M8 performance. What makes the M8 impressive is the fact that it achieves approx. 90% torque output at 2100 RPM, and sustains that level past 4000 RPM. The torque curve on this motor is high and flat, check out a dyno run chart, not just the numbers.
At time 4:08 he said Harley was asking people what they wanted to see in a new engine, wow! that's is easy . An engine that doesn't need fixing after buying it or a warranty that covers it not ... pay us and will fix it.
Gurn Blanstein I liked the sound and working on my FXRS EVO, but I love my FLHX ANV M8 better. Not saying that you need to move to the M8, the EVO works great, just that the M8 has improvements that I enjoy. It is about a hundred degrees cooler than my FLHTC EVO and way more power.
EVO best motor Harley ever made my friend has 100,000 miles on it yes its worn but he bought a new st glide with 120 motor just happy harley rider since 1983.
So...10% more torque from a 4% bigger engine? Eh...not to excited about that. But I do like that they have finally gotten on board with cooling and the 4 valve 2 spark plug heads...my 00 vulcan has those and it makes a big difference.
It's amazing Harley spent all this money into r&d (at least what they claim as an excuse for their prices) but yet the m8 has all kinds of problems. They just came out with an improved oil filter as well as a vented oil tank cap by fueling because their umbrella valves suck.
Almost 100k subscribers bro! Damn what a year. I remember when I joined before you started upgrading the 883 and I figured you would blow up, but this fast is Awesome. Good for you man! I predict 1 million subscribers by this time next year..... mark it down😁👍🇺🇸
Good video man. Upgraded from my 08 Fatbob with a Fuel Moto 107 kit, to a 2018 SGS. The new engine stock, is better in almost everyway than my old bike. Now I just gotta find some good slip ons and I'll be set for awhile.
If you own a M8 like my 2018 Fatbob, 2017 and 2019 CVOs don't waste money on Harley stage kits. The engine will blow up due to oil pump design flaws and/or plastic tappet guides. Yeah and $50k motorcycle with plastic tappet guides. Neither the dealer who installs it or H corp office will disclose this. S&S, Fueling or Zipper all make higher quality performance kits.
Softails have dual counterbalancers, that’s why they are a little down on power compared to the touring bikes. The 114 in the tour bikes puts out 122 ft lb of torque vs 119 ft lb in the Softail, the 107’s are the same way.
As much as I love Harley, they are still struggling to catch up with the Japanese power cruisers from a decade ago power wise. The Suzuki M109R lays down 118lbft @ 3200rpm and 128hp @ 6200 rpm and weighed under 700lbs. The Honda VTX 1800 made 120lbft and 106hp, but it weighed almost 100lbs more. Granted, both were water cooled, but these are numbers from 2005-2006...
@@Peter-976 not necessarily. I had 2.5" Hard Krome pipes on my Suzuki C50 when I worked for Daytona H-D and was frequently asked about them because guys wanted their Softails to sound like it. Sure, it didn't have the signature sound of an Evo, but it didn't sound bad at all.
You could take it that way. To a lot of people my Suzuki sounded better than their Twin Cams, and Twin Cams sound better than M8s. None of them sound better than an Evo though. So Evo > Suzuki > Twinkie > M8
How are they for reliability? Seems like finned valve covers would take some heat. Separate high volume jets of oil sprayed to piston pin area helps to transfer heat to oil cooler radiator. Top quality gaskets are essential to survive heat cooling cycles. Uneven heat dissipation stresses mating surfaces. Keeping rear cylinder exhaust valves cool is always a challenge. Exposed to white hot heat for hours on end that heat has to be removed or engine melting becomes a clear danger. Air cooled engines don’t like to idle in bumper to bumper traffic in desert heat they need air flow so a separate fan would be needed in this application. More oil and efficient cooling radiator is the way to go. Two systems, lubrication, cooling makes for a happy motor. Proper octane fuels help to deliver power not just heat. The more horses neath you the more heat as well. Low stress engines last longer. Two hundred degree engines are happy. 😄Five hundred degree engines say I’m out of here dude!🥵
I bought a 2018 Ultra Limited 107 earlier this year after about 500 miles a defect in the case showed its ugly head oil started weeping out of the side of the casing. Dealer has it now for two weeks till they send a new case and they rebuild the motor. The whole thing is warranted but what the hell brand new bike. I was loving the bike yes less heat nice ride but now I’m not to happy.
John Hoffman Problems just happen sometimes, when I built my sportster flat track bike I cracked a cylinder liner from top to bottom on the very first run on the track, and these were brand new iron lined cylinders.
Yes I know this isn’t anyone’s fault I don’t think Harley does their own castings so no quality control but with all the oiling problems the M8 has had it’s kind of ironic that this maybe the reason there is oil transfer internally.
Just got a brand new (even though it’s a 2018 model) Road King 107 for a work bike and I’m hoping for the best. My personal bikes are a 95 FLHT Electra Glide Standard with the Evo and a 83 FXSB Lowrider with the Shovelhead. I always loved the sound and coolness of the Shovel and the absolutely bulletproof reliability of the Evo. Not that I care too much about reliability with the M8 since we have a dedicated, full-time mechanic to work on the bikes. But, I also don’t want to have a shop queen either. So far the guys that already have them like them, especially since they have hydraulic clutches.
Sounds like with the new oil cooled heads, this new design for them might be the primary cause for oil sumping which is an issue the can't seem to correct with what now, 8 new/replacement oil pumps?
I have seen evidence of the M8 heads made cheap by some foreign manufacturer. The machine work is not the greatest and the heads look like Kawasaki may be the ones making the heads. I watched a noted machinist rebuild a set of M8 heads that had less then ten thousand miles. Valve seats were poor quality and the ports were really rough. I ride a 2010 Heritage and will stick with it. I believe the best engine HD ever made but did not have the power the new ones have is the Evo
The HD dream engine for me would be shape and size like Knucklehead with around 61-74 ci with 120+ horse power. I'm not a speed hunger but 77hp from 107ci was too pathetic, and all of the power on a 700lbs you couldn't outrun ktm390 or ninja400.
@@northerniltree Torque means nothing without RPMs! The formula for hp is torque times Rpms divided by 5252 ! Hp is what gives you power, speed, top speed etc! Harley will never make real power until they design a new engine, from the ground up!
I like them. I just won’t ever get one due to the simple fact that I can’t work on it myself without a fancy (expensive) computer. I’ll keep my old evo or even a carbureted twin cam some day.
@@Schnot I love classic cars. But i feel having a modern, correctly running car is necessary. Same with bikes. Unless you want one simply as an ongoing project.
I have a '15 RGS and am considering selling it and buying an older Evo powered bike for this very reason. Can't even change my own brake fluid? Albeit, I see both sides! "IF" I had that kind of "disposable" income I would; trade up the '15 to a '19 and then go shopping for an EVO. But I don't, so I'll just hang in for a while and see what the future brings.
Jackie Howard exactly. On the newer models, even just turning on the headlight goes through the computer. To change the pipes, you have to tune it. To tune it right it needs to go on a dyno. That’s $200+ extra just to change pipes. On my evo, it’s about $3.99 for a jet for the super e carb.
I know it's been 4 years, but the combustion chamber design is called Pentroof, vs the previous HEMI design. Basically every car in existence today uses Pentroof because it's cheap and easy to make them have more than 2 valves per combustion chamber. HEMI heads are harder to make and basically impossible to run 4 valves per head. Although, I would argue that 4 valves is a waste, especially in Harleys. 4 valves only lend themselves to high RPM. They lose low end torque.
After a year big big difference in power ,heat and everything that was said. Love the thing and the old twin cam sits home. Don't listen to the 25-35 forum clowns that have shit dealers......can't fix cup holders.
Glad to see there stepping up to keep up with the times Just imagine what a dominating force Harley would be if the die hards would let go of there old antiquated ways and actually let Harley Davidson build there bikes to there full potential and more
Love the new ride I have but it don't sound like a Harley no more. I have a new 18 limited . Put a stage 3 in it love the power hate the sound. At list I still have my 2010 cvo 110 Softail now it sounds like a Harley.
well i have had 2 107 no problem so far the sump issue is mostly blown up by trolls there have been a few issues but it's a machine and 90% of those problems was with stage 4
Harley Davidson did'nt do a game changing change, they just came up to what everyone else was doing with a 8 valve engine and counter balancing. One more thing harley needs to do from a maintenance stand point is to get rid of the chain primary.
I totally AGREE ! Do you remember the 1981 “ Twin Belt Sturgis “ ??? What a shame that they failed at that one time attempt to deliver this - and since they failed at it , scrapped the idea forever !!!
hey, every HD engine from the first one to the last one yesterday are oil cooled. Some of the M-8 engines are liquid cooled along with air and oil cooling. My brand new Tri Glide is cooled by all three and it will still cook your ass in slow traffic.
I don’t know if I should get the new softtail low rider with the M8 it’s scaring me a little because it’s still new and everyone I talk to they say they got a lot of issues with them. I’m looking at 2019 low rider got 2 miles on it the dealer is asking 16,400
I'm lte on this video but I have a 2015 CVO Ultra with 110 and my buddy just got a '20 with the M8 and some differences, he can go about 110KM (70 miles) further on a tank of fuel. The power is nothing we are almost identical but fuel milage is critical, hated having to stop for fuel as I am on reserve and he could go another hour.
Very nice video. I still like the Pan generator bottom and the Shovel top, or a mid seventies Ironhead Sportster. My ‘05 TwinCam Springer seems like about as new as I need to go.
Definitely a great work by Harley Davidson. Reducing the shake and heat is probably the best thing that the new engine offers. My brother has a Dyna Wide Glide 2013, and even during a good weather (22°c - 28°c), he sometimes can't stand the heat of the engine. But I'm mostly interested in the new FXDR. Is it going to be the V Rod replacement? Or is it a V Rod wanna be? Can't wait till you review it Blockhead.
I really like my 2017 M8. Maxwell should get the Heritage and do the stage iv kit. Check out Matt Laidlaws video on his Head tech's bike. Nicely modded out. So I would say 100,000 subs is not far off . Nice!!

got a new 17 ultra c.2 weeks ago with 5400 miles on it with the 107 she just bad ass nothing bad to say at all
I liked my 80 evo ,until I rode a 103 what a difference!
( I’ve owned 13 H-D’s in 43 years ; oldest was a 53’ FL panhead )
I do believe this is Milwaukee’s best effort - with only (2) complaints .
1.) I don’t agree with the placement of the factory installed oil cooler . This was a great addition to the engine , however it totally blocks the
“ clean air “ to the front cylinder . I do believe that , like some aftermarket oil coolers on the market , it could have been catching its own clean air off to the left of the frame’s front down tube .
This would have allowed the front cylinder to continue to receive its clean air as it always has .
2.) the brakes , although
“ better “ , are very inconsistently set up .
72,000kms on my 2018 FLTRU M8, Not one problem with it...LOVE IT.
this was excellent man. I have the heritage 114 and very happy with it. I cant imagine someone not liking it. good job on the presentation.
I’m upgrading my 107, to a 124. It’s gon be a beast!
Just traded my 2000 Road King on a Softtail Slim, Been riding Road Kings and "King of the highway ( shovel road king predecessor) forever I need a lighter and lower bike 5'5" 67 yrs, love it a million
This engine impresses me everytime I ride. Good vid as always
Bought the M8 lowrider. changed the stock seat because it's crap, put on V&H slipons. sounds great, drives good, rear brake isn't up to much.very happy with it other than that.
I too bought a 2018 FXLR
I am very happy .
My two main complaints -
The crap seat - as there is no padding for a passenger !
And VERY sensitive front brakes , which I’m getting used to - but seem to have to work “ too hard “ to apply rear brakes !
You and I agree on these , so thanks for saying so , as I now don’t feel alone on this ...
Later
Ride safe
I do not need any more power or speed, i,ll keep my dependable 2000, 88 cid....it has a few upgrades and is dependable.
Just got a 2017 FLHP after riding a 2001 FXDXT for many years and I can say the 107ci is heads and shoulders above the old Cam 88... I gave my FXDXT to my son and he's rebuilding it to his liking down in Tx and hoping to meet up with him half way on the way to Sturgis next year,,,
Sweet video. I love seeing the M8's go together at the factory. Thanks Block !!
Love my '17 RK. Awesome power, and super easy riding.
I never liked the engine and trans together in other bikes.
Split cases and you have a trans with it.
I have the 107...wish it was bigger but, still rips and ive loved all 26k so far
Nine yrs ago I bought my first harley a
13 hertiage which I still have just flipped to 100000 and still going but a year ago bought a 18 ultra and OMG I love the bike I tell people it's my quiet bike and the hertiage is my loud one
I love mine it is way better than the twin cam on back. I still own a EVO but this bike will run circles around it, best Harley I have ever owned out of several from Panhead on. I have a 2017 Ultra Limited
I checked the fuel mileage on a 107 M8 Softail Standard and it was 54 mpg! That's about the same as a 1200cc carbureted Sportster.
Pan head still runs just fine thanks! neat motor though, bet it has a ton of power ! these have the be the loudest Harley engines ever ! how ' bout building them entirely here using only American steel and American Workers Like Knucks and Pans were made! Make America Great Again indeed ....
The brother has a 1976 FXE and it definitely has more character and a much different sound than the newer ones
@ yeah , as long as you support the already way over priced HD. You get what you get . Fuk harley davidson greedy bastards. Oh and most of the harley riders I've talked to are Trump supporters. Not snowflakes.
Love my 2019 RG Ultra 114, lot different than 110 CVO , definitely runs cooler and much more responsive. 😎
German design V rod nuf said.
Ride what you can afford some people just can’t afford much LOL
Thanks for this information I am trying to learn everything I can to apply for a job with Harley Davidson
Matchbox Garage good luck. I’ve been trying for a while. It seems hard to get into a dealership. I hope you get it
I gotta compliment you on reading the spec sheet accurately, but nearly every reviewer talks about the increase in HP and torque at RPM.
I'm feeling better and better about my 103 HO stage 2. Hauls me around pretty well.
Just came here to see about pushrods. My 2000 SUZUKI VL1500 has an internal chain to operate upper mechanics and 4 valves too. HD lagging 😄
You forgot to mention while idle in high temps the rear cylinder shuts off
Thats nothing new. Mine does that and its an 06
My old 103 does that too
You can turn that off if you want
Its a tremendous engine, homerun hd!
At time 4:08 he said Harley was asking people what they wanted to see in a new engine, wow! that's is easy . An engine that doesn't need fixing after buying it or a warranty that covers it
not ... pay us and will fix it.
normal for Harley
This is a pretty good copy of the Yamaha 113 Stratoliner motor from 2006.
Way to go HD!!
I kind of like the idea off no vibration they should give folks the option.
I'll keep my Evo thank you...
I still ride my '94 Hugger!
Me too
I'll just ride my old bikes from a 45 flathead to a shovel
Gurn Blanstein I liked the sound and working on my FXRS EVO, but I love my FLHX ANV M8 better. Not saying that you need to move to the M8, the EVO works great, just that the M8 has improvements that I enjoy. It is about a hundred degrees cooler than my FLHTC EVO and way more power.
EVO best motor Harley ever made my friend has 100,000 miles on it yes its worn but he bought a new st glide with 120 motor just happy harley rider since 1983.
I've heard guys say if u decat them they run much cooler...
Finally 4 valves per cylinder getting in the game with all the metrics
Yeah And *STILL* Don'T Need To Rev-up To 8-9 Thousand Rpm To get Torque from a Motorcycle...

I have the m8 stage 2 / 465 cam,
its really fun to ride...
Almost 100k subscribers bro! Damn what a year. I remember when I joined before you started upgrading the 883 and I figured you would blow up, but this fast is Awesome. Good for you man! I predict 1 million subscribers by this time next year..... mark it down😁👍🇺🇸
Only at 162k, 4 months left. Ain’t gonna happen
Good video man. Upgraded from my 08 Fatbob with a Fuel Moto 107 kit, to a 2018 SGS. The new engine stock, is better in almost everyway than my old bike. Now I just gotta find some good slip ons and I'll be set for awhile.
I have Rineharts on my 18 FLFB.
Love your videos by the way, thanks for posting!
@Palmer White I'm just going by what I was told by Harley owners when I worked at the shop. I'm happy with the Evo I have now.
Good to see harley going in the right direction
1 of these days Harley will get it right?
😄Five hundred degree engines say I’m out of here dude!🥵
yes but Harley has been at it a long time my friend. My pal retired his 1984 harley with 100,000 miles on it still runs but he bought a new harley.
Just bought my first HD, 2021 Low Rider S. Really stoked about it, hopefully I made a good decision.
John Hoffman
Problems just happen sometimes, when I built my sportster flat track bike I cracked a cylinder liner from top to bottom on the very first run on the track, and these were brand new iron lined cylinders.
Hah, you got a dream job sounds like!
Harley...reinventing the wheel.
Don’t forget in the 107 oil transfers issue !! Mine is at Harley waiting for vent kit for Harley under warranty !!
I did a stage 2 and absolutely luv it
Sounds like with the new oil cooled heads, this new design for them might be the primary cause for oil sumping which is an issue the can't seem to correct with what now, 8 new/replacement oil pumps?
Until HD does away with their chain primary I'll just stick with my Shovel with S&S carb, belt drive primary and 5-speed trans set up.
perfect wish I still had my shovel?
Has Harley been quick to fix the defective composite cylinder head gasket?
So cool going back and watching your old videos and seeing the progress in steps. Gives me some inspiration and great entertainment
I love this New engine and the old others one
I have a 23 fxst with 107. Love it
The HD dream engine for me would be shape and size like Knucklehead with around 61-74 ci with 120+ horse power. I'm not a speed hunger but 77hp from 107ci was too pathetic, and all of the power on a 700lbs you couldn't outrun ktm390 or ninja400.
Wow if Harley could make another 20 hp , they would be making almost as much power as a 1969 Honda 750cc
That 750cc was a real torque beast as well, eh?
@@northerniltree Torque means nothing without RPMs! The formula for hp is torque times Rpms divided by 5252 ! Hp is what gives you power, speed, top speed etc! Harley will never make real power until they design a new engine, from the ground up!
@@MrJimmy1437 Right. But, Honda can't make potato, potato sounds. Chew on that.
@@northerniltree True, but i always though that if sound is a big thing with a person , they should go to the opera!
@@MrJimmy1437 So, you aren't a baritone kinda guy. Got it.
Why not 8 valves along time ago ???-
Especially the sportster which still does not have 8 valves ???
I like them. I just won’t ever get one due to the simple fact that I can’t work on it myself without a fancy (expensive) computer. I’ll keep my old evo or even a carbureted twin cam some day.
Smh
Mr. Borjas why?
I got the stage 2 and torque cam and it's very impressive...
Dennis Morris I’m getting the stage 2 torque very soon. I’ve got the stage 1 now and have heard that the stage 2 is a beast
Good job! I knew the stats but the engine video clips are super cool!
After a year big big difference in power ,heat and everything that was said. Love the thing and the old twin cam sits home. Don't listen to the 25-35 forum clowns that have shit dealers......can't fix cup holders.
Glad to see there stepping up to keep up with the times
Just imagine what a dominating force Harley would be if the die hards would let go of there old antiquated ways and actually let Harley Davidson build there bikes to there full potential and more
Harley should buy engine from SS , then use them in their bikes. Everyone would be happy !
Great video Block. Very informative for us not HD riders.
Please make a video about the m8 problems
Sal Panahi that’s probably against his contract rules
Only one problem - its looks like yamaha.
Oelsumping/Oeltransfer?
Harley Davidson did'nt do a game changing change, they just came up to what everyone else was doing with a 8 valve engine and counter balancing. One more thing harley needs to do from a maintenance stand point is to get rid of the chain primary.
I totally AGREE !
Do you remember the 1981
“ Twin Belt Sturgis “ ???
What a shame that they failed at that one time attempt to deliver this - and since they failed at it , scrapped the idea forever !!!
That would be the sportster engine....
tell em boss you know what harley need just like all my friends always tell me what harley need for 50 years
hey, every HD engine from the first one to the last one yesterday are oil cooled.
Nice engine...but I still think the Twin Cam sounds much better.
hell ya.
I digress my M8 107 sounds like a big block Chevy!
Still love my 1998 evo
The Evos will last forever. The Twin Cams were a bit more powerful but had a lot more problems. I’ve seen more than a few Evos with 125,000 plus miles
My ‘05 TwinCam Springer seems like about as new as I need to go.
very informative, thank you, good job
Definitely a great work by Harley Davidson. Reducing the shake and heat is probably the best thing that the new engine offers. My brother has a Dyna Wide Glide 2013, and even during a good weather (22°c - 28°c), he sometimes can't stand the heat of the engine. But I'm mostly interested in the new FXDR. Is it going to be the V Rod replacement? Or is it a V Rod wanna be?
Can't wait till you review it Blockhead.
Nice engine...but the Twin Cam sounds alot better.
I really like my 2017 M8. Maxwell should get the Heritage and do the stage iv kit. Check out Matt Laidlaws video on his Head tech's bike. Nicely modded out. So I would say 100,000 subs is not far off . Nice!!
shovelheads and the open road, only change is the baker 6speed,o ring chain and the damn bugs, sometimes I just put a fan on it ,to hear it idle, there is no other bike
