    You summed up what my Dad thought about cats. He said that in his next life, he wanted to come back as a cat. Tonight, a neighbor I grew up with, sent a memorial of him from his alma mater. Dad's name was Bob.

    I love my job, but it requires my attention seven days a week, even while on vacation. It amazes me how much my cat absorbs my stress. I come home, and the cat jumps on my lap and begins to purr. Suddenly, my mind changes gears, and I'm happier.

    Your post about your lost and found cat drew me in… you are spot on about going on instinct and intuition because that is the flow. Humans mainly live in effort/thinking/analysis. At some point we will return to nature (because we are nature) and the flow more completely. Your video is very “timely”.

    “ In Feline Philosophy, the philosopher John Gray discovers in cats a way of living that is unburdened by anxiety and self-consciousness, showing how they embody answers to the big questions of love and attachment, mortality, morality, and the Self: Montaigne's house cat, whose un-examined life may have been the one worth living”.

    • @OuterEdgeOutpost
      @OuterEdgeOutpost  9 місяців тому +1

      The only medicine I've ever found for that kind of pain is work. Make yourself too busy to pick at the wound. Lose yourself in a project of some kind. Specifically something productive, not just passive entertainment, because that allows the wound to fester. Productive effort tends to invigorate you and help force the poison out of you like sweat. Of course it's also worth spending some time sitting with the loss, asking yourself why it happened, if there might be lessons to learn that will help prepare you better for your next relationship. That's part of the healthy healing process. But ultimately it just takes time, and redirecting your focus into productive projects can be a nourishing anesthetic to keep life bearable while you wait for the pain to run its course. Good luck!

    Animals do live in the now... not to be confused with "not having memories." I have multiple experiences that prove - to me - beyond a shadow of a doubt that some critters retain some linear memories. Also, the Newtonian Universe is "13 billions years old" and the Newtonian Earth is "3.4 billion years old," both of these figures give or take multiples of ten to infinity. So it would be far more amazing that that no "intelligent" life - aka poetry makers - ever existed before the likes of us. As far as I'm concerned, the Great Gaza Pyramid was a bomb shelter - at least at the end of its usefulness - that more or less worked - yet most life was wiped off the chalkboard nonetheless... aka time to split and do a Elon-move inside the new moon we/they just parked nearby! Think outside the spiral friends, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE HERE WITH UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCES OF LOVE AND EXPANDED CONSCIOUSNESS! PS Bob for President!

    • @OuterEdgeOutpost
      @OuterEdgeOutpost  10 місяців тому +2

      These are very "mom" questions. 😂 But ok I'll bite. The quick answers are: the kind of success I had doesn't pay nearly as much as most people assume. I invested most of it in a house, but equity alone isn't enough to live on forever. It kept me afloat for about 10 years before I put the last of it into these 20 acres and the shed. I've never had enough liquid assets to risk tying tying it up in "investments." And I don't have a "significant other" because I am not very interested in traditional partnership. I have explored that and found a desiccating effect on my soul. At least for this phase of my life, until I meet someone who Changes Everything, I prefer to be adrift. I do have relationships of different kinds, I am not ultimately Alone, I just don't parade that part of my life online.

Funny how the human intelligence that God gave you allows you to live and experience and benefit from all the various situations un life you have been privileged to know. Now I pray that that same intelligence can help you be grateful and find your higher purpose it would bless you.
    May God surround you with His love

    • @OuterEdgeOutpost
      @OuterEdgeOutpost  10 місяців тому +1

      I don't know man, I grew up surrounded by God's love and searching for that "higher purpose." It didn't do much for me. Christian theology removes all meaning from life, because Earth is just a brief experiment that will be wiped out when God pulls the plug, and none of our efforts here can ever improve anything because God's plan is for it to get worse and worse until he nukes it. I never felt any trace of meaning in life until I abandoned that theological nihilism and started believing in human possibility.
      Our intelligence comes with great possibilities, but I don't think anything we typically use it for is worthwhile. Civilization, technology, etc, all just accelerating the birthing/eating/shitting/dying cycle without fundamentally changing it. The only time I experience anything that feels meaningful is in the tiny, quiet moments in the cracks between intelligent activities. Usually it's the stuff that gets me closer to feeling like an animal, that simple, wordless connection to other beings and to the universe. Intelligence does allow me to communicate those feelings, though, like I am right now, which is one perk and the main reason I became a writer.

    Awww, I looove cats! They’re the sweetest! I have a cat myself and his name is BunBun. Sometimes I think about what he’s thinking too and like you a lot of the thoughts drift to how he perceives his surroundings and if he has memories like we do.

      Yep cats are wonderful beings, fluffy bundles of love & joy.
      We have Bear & Husty manx cats, like Bob they follow us every were on our 14 hectares, even down to the river beach. When they hit the sand they flop over & roll & roll. Pure freedom in nature, how I wish everyone could live in this world. Have a lovely Christmas fm New Zealand 😊

      I wish all cats could live in the country where they can be free to live natural lives. Indoor cats make me sad, though I understand why it's necessary in some places.
