So currently I have applied for Plab 1 exam, it’s in August and I got a mail from GMC saying I need to open application and apply, where as I have filled all my details and everything, I’m not understanding this My application part guide me

Very informative and useful video, doc. Just one thing though. The revised criteria for breaks in clinical practice are applicable in case of the Sponsorship route. If you read on, Annexure B states the following:
Applicants with a break in practice within the last five years which does not
align with the criteria at Annex A (mentioned in the video) may be able to demonstrate that they have
mitigated the break by providing objective verifiable evidence that they have:
Undertaken a substantive period of medical practice in another country.
''A pass in an objective medical test obtained within the three years prior to the
application for registration (such as a pass in the PLAB test or passing the
membership examinations for a UK Medical Royal College).''
Been awarded one or more relevant medical post graduate qualifications obtained
within the three years prior to the application for registration.
Meaning, a PLAB pass (or the other 2 points) outweighs the former :) Just trying to ease the minds of those with long clinical gaps.

Hi there. Yes you can only do it after completing the plabs or some other post graduate qualification like MRCP/MRCS.
Hi Dr. Can you clearly tell me that foreign medical graduates (from China) can give plab and done epic verification and get gmc registration without passing NLE ?
Like I don’t have PMC Licence (RMP) but I do hold provincial license (PRMP) bcos NLE not passed yet. So can I give plab exam without these things and get verification from epic and done gmc registration ?

You can give your plabs without full pmc registration. However I am unsure about full gmc registration. Because they ask for a certificate of good standing. And as I recall from my time having a full pmc registration was a pre-requisite to apply for a certificate of good standing with the PMC.

Well not if you gave the plab exams because your ID check is done right there and then.
so what if i have not done internship but had continuous medical practice for two years with minimum of 6 months in surgery and 6 months in internal medicine. my question is shall I add it as internship or skip the internship part????

Is there any difference between if I get MD degree or general medicine degree from my university. I heard that Uk don’t accept general medicine degree or both these degree are same?
Hi Arif. That's quite a technical question. Your best would be to ask the GMC directly that. They are quite helpful on phone or email. If you found out the answer to your question then do post it here so others can benefit from your experience. 😊

"studying for PLAB 1/PLAB 2" falls under the category of "not employed" or "studying"?
I can't say for certain. But I believe it would be not employed as "studying" is not being done through an accredited university. For the most accurate answer you should call gmc. They would be able to help.

U mentioned about uploading Good Standing Certificate. But some ppl received mail from gmc that licensing body of home county should send it from their official mail ID directlyto GMC given mail. I m confused...plz help

You will have to make an account on oriel and apply for a GP training job. Inorder to qualify for the application you need to have your F2 competencies signed off using the CREST form. Finally you will need to clear the MSRA exam. You can find further details by following this link:

However my Full name will remain unchanged.
Based off of my experience I don't think it matters as long as your full name stays the same.
Hi. I have completed my PLAB 2 in 2014 but due to personal reasons couldn’t proceed with the registration. Now I am planning to register. Since it’s been more than 2 years since I passed PLAB 2, how do I proceed about?
Have your IELTs/OET result ready. Have evidence of what you have been doing to keep medically active ready. Like CPD courses, electives, medical jobs, research, or education ready. And start your gmc registration process. As you proceed the gmc will tell you themselves what other proofs they need from you.

You can be honest and just write just that. You can now try taking CPD courses and start a clinical job and say this is how you have kept your clinical skills up to date. But always be honest in everything you report to the GMC.

Hi Anjali. It's unclear if you need to be registered as a practitioner in your home country. The GMC would be the best people to answer that question. If you get a response from then do post it here so others can benefit from your experience as well. 😊

Hi Pooja. That's an interesting question. I think the GMC would be the best people to answer that question. They are helpful if you just email them with your query. Generally speaking people already have a full license in their home country before registering for the GMC. I am not sure if being registered in your home country is a mandatory requirement. Best to ask the GMC themselves. Do post here if you find out.
what if we dont have good standing certificate from pmc or we are not registered with council? RMp alone work in this case?
As far as I am aware you will need a certificate of good standing with PMC for GMC registration.
So I had my epic verification done but I hadn’t sent it to gmc through epic so should I do that first before I apply for gmc registration or after?

Yes if everything else checks out you should be fine. Your things should be valid at the point of application.
isn't the Ielts validity increased to 3 years until march 2023 ?

For plab 1 it is still two years.
For GMC registration if it's more than 2 years old then a recent plab 2 pass qualifies as sufficient evidence. However plab 2 needs to have been passed no longer than 3 months before the time of application.

Yes you can absolutely do that.
Heyy do we need the verification of specialist qualification by epic(in my case it’s MRCOG degree) to register for GMC
Well that depends on how you will be registering with the gmc. If you are using the mrcog to register then yes you should get it verified. Otherwise if you are using your plab results then no need to get the mrcog diploma verified.
Regarding the past 5 year experience, does it have to be a document signed by your employers? Thanks.
So, the gmc did not ask me to provide a document verifying my clinical work experience. They will let you know what exact documents they need for your specific circumstances. If you have engaged in non clinical work during the 5 years, then you will need a gen1 form signed by your employer. But don't worry about it. Wait for the GMC to send you an email with the documents they require.

You'll have to give a better reason than preparing for plab. The exam doesn't take that long to prepare for and will call to question your ability to study and work at the same time. If there were personal reasons behind the absence from work then openly share them. You just have to be honest.

During the registration process they do clarify which category you should select for clinical observership.

Most indians have their initials expanded in their passports so while giving the name should it be the name as its mentioned in the degree certificate ( with initials as it is) or as in the passport
They ask you if the name is same as pmq
Sorry I didn't quite understand the question. If they are asking you for your name exactly as it is on your degree then you should state that. If they are saying to state your name exactly as it is on you passport then do that. They will reach out to you if they have any questions or need further explanations.

Yes unfortunately i was in the unlucky last few that didn't get an extension. They announced the changes after I had already retaken the exam.

Hi user. I can't speak on their behalf because they could ask for anything at their own discretion on a case by case basis. However they only asked me about house job certificates and certificate of good standing with the PMC. No other professional experience documents from the clinical job i was working. They say if you have done non clinical work then to have those employers fill in a gen1 form. Hope that was helpful. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

How much time GMC will take for registration process approximately if all the things went smoothly?
It's quite fast. It will vary for everyone depending on what issues come up. Mine was done in 1 month.

7:00 by final transcript did you mean the detailed marks certificate of the final year professional exams?
No no. It's different from your final year transcript as well as your cumulative transcript. If you're from dow then go to the student's branch admin and ask them that you want a "final transcript" made. They will sort you out. This thing is like massive summary of all 5 years including details of marks achieved in your ward tests and everything.
@@drwajih32 I have the final transcript with the summary of all 5 years but even on the transcript the exact date isn't mentioned just the months when examination were held are mentioned not the exact date
@@MrEmadsaeed that should be enough. It worked for me when I used it for registering with the GMC. Some people use their provisional certificate. That also works.
@@drwajih32 oh ok I am a graduate of UHS and on my degree the examination months are clearly mentioned so does that mean I won't need any other additional document like transcript or provision certificate?
@@MrEmadsaeed I think you should be fine. Give it a shot. The GMC is helpful and will let you know if they need anything more than what you have sent.
How to write middle name?
I wrote my middle names along with the first name. This was so that it would match exactly like it was on my passport and degree.
However looking at their form I imagine the "other name" section would be one for middle names. If you wanted to write it that way. However if you have any questions at all please call the GMC on:+441619236602
They are super helpful and can resolve issues reliably and fast.
What's EC
It refers to immigration laws confering certain rights to European citizens. Having this right meant the person did not need the PLAB exam for gmc registration:

Please note that this is a complicated aspect of the law of which I do not have adequate knowledge. If you are not well acquainted with it, then asking a solicitor or the GMC directly would be best before filling in anything on your application form.
